I thought it was great that you could have the portions halved. The staff was very friendly and saw us too. The food was plentiful and tasted very good. Plus the wonderful view of the Rhine. So it was worth it

Most beautiful location, right on the Rhine. Staff, apart from one person, were always very friendly and personable. The food is ok, but far from the fabulous Italian cuisine. We are always happy to come back.

Great simple and cozy restaurant Rhine. Simple and good Italian cuisine with a view of the Rhine. The prices are very correct for Swiss standards. The atmosphere is cozy and homely and the staff is very friendly! Highly recommended !

Food was good. The wine ordered was creatively converted into a different variety that was more expensive than the one ordered. The service was overwhelmed. A pity.

Nice place located on the riverside of Basel, excellent for having a nice experience in the city with a nice view of the river, food not beyond sufficient.

We've never had such good Italian food. The service is friendly, courteous and humorous. We were asked several times if everything was OK. The atmosphere in the restaurant is so cozy and the location, including the view of the Rhine, is unique. The menu is small, but all the dishes we've tasted so far have impressed us so much that we come back every time we visit Basel. Thank you and see you soon!

Great simple Italian food, huge portions which is never a plus to me but suoer tasty and lovely staff

This looks overrated and overpriced in my opinion. The Aperol spritz lacked Aperol and Prosecco, was like drinking water (with Aperol flavor) I ate a salad, it had a hair inside. Serving size is medium. Wouldn’t recommend this. Personnel is okay view is pretty but kitchen is missing some love. Wouldn’t come again.

Nice restaurant right on the Rhine, ideal for watching :-D. The menu is short and good, the wine is tasty. And the prices are reasonable for Basel.

I really liked the meatballs with homemade tomato sauce. A delight. On the other hand, I was disappointed by their very basic salad as a starter which lacked taste.

Ordered the osso buco and it was extremely dry without a drop of sauce. They committed a crime, I could not believe how dry the meat was!

I didn't eat, but the service is fast and of good quality

We stood outside the restaurant for 20 minutes and were ignored by the waitress. When we approached them and asked for a free table for 2, they made no effort to offer us one. Among other things, there was a reserved table available whose guests didn't come even after 30 minutes, but we were not allowed to use it. Impudence! Bad service..

They may have been having a bad day, but the pesto genovese pasta had spicy red chille. Aside from the spiciness, the taste of the pesto was completely wrong. Nice place and views, the waiter who served us was very helpful. Good to have a beer, I don't recommend the food!

Small bar right on the water. Ideal for enjoying the sunshine. Food was ok, price performance ok. Unfortunately, goat cheese was far too cold. And you always had to draw attention to yourself in order to be able to order again.

Super rude staff. The served cold Cannelloni so I had to send them back. Then they just micro-waved them and brought the Cannelloni back to me, which was kind of odd, considering the price range of that restaurant. So I asked the staff if this was normal procedure. One of the waiters (head waiter?) came over, started yelling(!) at me, took away the plate and started mumbling insults. I’ve never seen anything like it. If that’s how you guys treat customers whom you served cold food, you should reconsider working at a restaurant.

Cozy atmosphere with friendly service, always ready to fulfill special food requests and deal with criticism positively. Typically Italian with penne, spaghetti and ravioli. Be sure to try bruschetta as a starter and tiramisu as a dessert...But also spontaneously enjoy the Rhine atmosphere outside with ravioli with sage and panache.....e.g. Sunday afternoon walk...

Nice restaurant in a great location on the Rhine. Service was friendly, but not properly practiced. The inside of the restaurant made a unkempt impression. Pasta with spinach and lime sauce was not balanced at all, just sour My companion's salad was probably ok. I would have expected much more

Celebrated a friend's birthday in the restaurant and in the 8Bar. We were looked after very well and the food was also wonderful. Super nice service. Gladly again

Were there with 7 people on the Sunday before August 1st, 2022. Location right on the Rhine is great, but rather hectic with a lot of through traffic. We didn't find the interior nice at all, rather dingy. On the way to the toilet I saw that prepared desserts had been brought from the cellar. The antipasti in the display cases didn't look nice, sausage had edges. Pasta "Genovese" reads much better than it appears afterwards. A loveless plate of green, barely cooked pasta. None of it looked really freshly prepared. Of course it was overcrowded before the holiday and the staff tried to be friendly but clearly overwhelmed. We can't explain the 5 star reviews. Because of these "5 stars" you go there with different expectations. We were disappointed. For the prices quoted there it was nothing more than canteen food. The food in the neighboring restaurant looked much more appealing. Not for us again.

Arrogant staff. Came off hours at 3 pm and the waiter outside said “we cannot keep the cook inside for 5 hours”. Instead of suggesting a place he gave this rude response.

16:15 Saturday evening. Drinks only. The kitchen doesn’t work, although upon entering I asked if I could sit down to eat.

We arrived at 16:00 on Saturday, planning to have lunch. After waiting a little, we approached the waiter to ask for a food menu, to which she replied that the kitchen was closed. In my opinion, such information should be provided to visitors at the entrance.

Very nice service and very mediocre food. Usually it is the other way around, so for the personnel one would come back but the food… ah. No. Nonononono. Doesn’t taste Italian at all, pasta not fresh, merluza was dried out, asparagus was wooden… The best was the wine and the coconut-mango dessert quite good.

We spontaneously had something to drink and eat here. Tarte flambée was very tasty and homemade. Hamburgers looked very good too, will definitely order them next time.

Best cozze alla marinara ever! We were treated to incomparably good cozze alla marinara, prepared with extra peperoncini. Great class!

It was just great with the narrow cast. I enjoyed excellent Italian cuisine and super personal service. The ambience and mood was relaxed and super relaxed. Nothing fake and absolutely authentic. Very good Appenzeller beer. The restaurant is well run and you can feel the soul of the restaurant. I hope to be a guest again soon and wish the whole team all the best!
