We are big water lily fans and have been guests there several times on New Year's Eve. On the other hand, we visited Cocon for the first time for the New Year's Eve menu 2023. Since it is considered very exclusive, we had high expectations of the food and service. Unfortunately we were disappointed here. Usually you are looked after by the same waiter throughout the entire meal. That wasn't the case with us. The friendly young gentleman from the beginning didn't serve us anymore. There were a total of 3 other people who served us. Not necessarily typical, as the young gentleman, for example, served the tables in front of us from start to finish. The food was good, but not really hearty. The pork belly gave the impression that it was something from the kitchen because the portion was so small. With the lobster, we're not even sure if we even received a whole pair of claws. Including two pak choi leaves and some curry foam. Unfortunately, it was pretty unloving considering it was a stately animal. With the fillet you received half a piece of meat and a turnip and parsnip terrine. We weren't told until the 5th course that you could get seconds. It was very noticeable that there were almost no carbohydrates on the side dish (pasta, rice, etc.). That bothered us because we hadn't signed up for a fitness menu, but rather for a New Year's Eve menu. To some extent this may have been our fault, as we were able to see the menu beforehand. It could have been noticed then. There was a tin set for casting tin on the table. The idea behind it was great, but none of the service staff pointed it out to us or told us how to use it & that you can use it, especially here at the table. It lay carelessly on the table in its original packaging with the price half-heartedly crossed out. You could have at least unwrapped it and served it nicely on a plate. That would have been the minimum for a restaurant in this price range. Unfortunately, the service was present at our table to a minimum. During the 6 courses, someone came over once after serving to ask if everything was okay. Otherwise we were simply served the courses. There was nothing more. When we asked for bread for the first course, it only came after we had already finished our meal and had reached the second course. It was also noticeable that you had to wait quite a long time from aisle to aisle. Sometimes there was a whole half hour in between, which was too long considering the small portions. If everyone gets the same menu, the service should be able to bring the food a little faster. After all, everything is pre-planned and everyone gets the same food. All in all, we feel a bit cheated out of our money. We are aware that a 6-course menu is something different than a normal 3-course menu and that the dishes are also different. But a bit of heartiness and sensible side dishes would have been included. Unfortunately, the almost CHF 500 (2 people and very little wine) was not appropriate here. This criticism also comes about because we have already tried out many New Year's Eve menus at various restaurants. Otherwise we would have had to assume that this was perhaps completely normal. If necessary, you can take this with you as an improvement for the coming New Year's Eve menu.
