Al Porto Café Stazione in Locarno

Very good sweets, very friendly and prompt service. A coffee that is highly recommended and it would be nice to have comparable offers in other cities.

I had the pleasure of visiting Al Porto in Locarno, where I experienced some of the best sourddoughbread I've ever tasted. The texture was perfectly balanced, with a crisp exterior and a soft, airy interior that melted in my mouth. Each bite was a testament to the artisanal craftsmanship and quality ingredients used. Al Porto has truly mastered the art of bread-making, making it a must-visit for anyone in Locarno seeking a memorable culinary delight.

I always enjoy shopping here and at Panetone. the saleswoman was very nice. I think the prices are too high.

Service is usually disorganised and unpleasant - no smile, just empty or irritated look. Products are tasty and always great.

I stopped at Al Porto with a group of seniors for a quick coffee and cornetto stop. Strengthened, we boarded the Centovalli train to Domodossola.

Nice, nice and welcoming place, attentive and friendly staff. Desserts really good to taste and beautiful to look at.. Prices a little high. (breakfast for two 20 CHF)

4 stars for everything, we expect something more, both in terms of quality, price, cleanliness and friendliness. My personal note, shame about the low quality black tea. With that I buy the package at the Coop. I expect more from Porto. Bathroom not so clean.

I'm very sorry to criticize this place, as I am fond of pastry shops. I love their products, but this is the second time in a short time that I've found the service to be poor. When the place is empty or almost empty, the waiters seem unable to manage the time card order system. The first time it happened, I wasn't in a hurry and I waited a long time for tea and pastry, it's okay. The second time, I had 35 minutes before the train. After ordering the brioche inside, I am given the number, which I place in plain sight on the table. 20 minutes pass before anyone takes an interest in me and another 5 minutes before they bring me anything. In the meantime I had asked for takeaway, because I would have risked missing the train. They make me pay the surcharge even though I don't consume at the table, without apologizing and justifying the difference with "it was billed with a different cashier, we can't change". Well, it doesn't matter. I find it absolutely ridiculous and even worse that I was the one who had to ask for clarification, instead of being informed. It's not the cost, but the principle. I'll think about it carefully before returning.

I forgot my smartphone on the table. After the phone call the next day, it was delivered to me by return post. Thank you very much!

Al Porto is present in several places across Locarno and Ascona. The carrot cake was too sweet from our point of view and we were missing some nuts and crunchiness. The coffees were too bitter (even the one with veggie milk). The pistachio croissant 🥐 is a bomb. Very enjoyable for breakfast but too much for brunch. It feels like a combination of a croissant and a pistachio(ice)cream. They indicate when products are lactose free and they have veggie sandwiches and salty quiches that they warm up for you. The staff was kind in all the shops where we’ve been and their locations are so convenient. The panatones are probably one of the best items they have!!

Cute, no-fuss cafe, part of a local chain (another one is 1min away around the corner, on the lake side). Cakes and pastries are delicious, sandwiches also very good, and they also have smoothies and their own brand of ice creams and sorbets, which we enjoyed as well. There are seats both inside and on the terrace, we stayed in for the AC. Table service is quite efficient. Takeaway available and they also do catering or party platters from what I read in their leaflets on each table. They're famous for their panettone which I tried one version of and yep, can confirm it's very good :D ✌️

Prices too high...coffee at CHF 3.20... Staff not very attentive...

First time I was at this place, I didn't like the service. Maybe I had bad luck with the waiter, who was very unfriendly. It felt like he was doing me a favor by serving me, even though he wasn't having his best day. I expected another type of attitude.

The best bakery around here. Try the creme brioche and the raspberry or chocolate cakes.

I had a voucher for a coffee, I presented my voucher when I received the receipt, very unpleasant the waiter with the beard pointed out to me that I should have told him that I paid with a voucher before my order, I would have done it willingly if I had known. We should brief this gentleman, a good one represents money in a way and that does not prevent a thank you!

It's a shame, actually a good restaurant. Unfortunately, I was personally verbally attacked by an Italian guest because I am a typical “Tedesci”. Unfortunately, the staff didn't think it was necessary to intervene because they themselves spoke Italian. So be careful if you speak German. This is different in summer.

My favorite Tea Room, pleasant staff, excellent pastries.

I had a pistachio panettone last year, it was very good with a good pistachio cream. This year however it was completely empty. He disappointed us.

It is an excellent place to enjoy wonderful pastries and hot drinks. I tasted the thick chocolate and it was perfect. One thing I've noticed every time I enter this cafe is the lack of napkins on the customer's table.

As soon as you enter you are overwhelmed by a delicious aroma that comes from the various desserts displayed in the window. The waiters were very kind and patient, helpful and polite. Thanks for the good snack today

I get the “Halloween cake” every year for my birthday. It is one of the most delicious cakes I have ever eaten.

Breakfast for 2: The brioches were from the day before with a sponge effect, hood served in a tea cup and espresso filled to the brim practically watered down, service I can't even comment on... all accompanied by a 5 star bill. The dress does not make the priest. Turn away.

Directly opposite Locarno train station is this al Porto branch, where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the town surrounded by palm trees while enjoying a delicious Café Creme and an equally great patisserie. The craftsmanship is great, these little delicacies look like works of art and vary every now and then... this time there was a "red carpet" - as always, to kneel down! The bread is also very tasty & the coffee also tastes good. Again and again (and again and again) with great pleasure.

Very good location and very “entertaining”. Unfortunately not a piston café but a vending machine café like in German-speaking Switzerland. The sweets are absolutely top class.

A nice little snack after strolling through the streets of Locarno: a cream croissant and a squeezed orange juice. The servers were very pleasant. There was even a bowl of water for our dog.

The pastries are exceptional, the problem is that, despite being very expensive, well above average, if you eat them at the table they have a 15.51% surcharge. When ordering I was not told anything about the surcharge, I was only notified when I complained. IT'S NOT DONE LIKE THIS. And consider that you also drink (coffee, tea or cappuccino) at the table, spending exponentially much more! The price at the table is discriminatory. If they don't remove the surcharge, I think it's not worth going there. There are other amazing pastry chefs in old town!!!!

When you arrive in Locarno you will find it in front of the station. The service is impeccable and everyone is very kind. Very good breakfast!

An absolute must when you are in Ticino: Visiting Pasticceria Al Porto. Here in Bellinzona there is also a nice little café with a separate entrance. The coffee there is great, but the hot chocolate (Cioccolata calda) with dark Grand Cru Couverture is a delight! Afterwards (or before) there are only the finest delicacies in the shop next door. Panettone large & small in all possible variations, brioche (croissants or croissants) with different fillings. And at Easter, of course, the "Colomba", which is also filled with different fillings and even in a lactose-free version!

The food is excellent, but the staff leaves something to be desired (not the first or even the second time). I received rude responses, inadequate non-verbal communication (arrogant/booty).

Absolutely fantastic, German is also spoken. Breakfast with homemade orange juice is particularly recommended. Be careful with the brioche: the cream brioche is more of a croissant and not the soft, sweet dough you are used to.

Large place with sheltered indoor and outdoor tables, the quality of the food is as good as in the other stores of the same chain in Lugano and Bellinzona, however the staff is less friendly and affable. Choice of sandwiches including salmon and cheese, quiche with cherry tomatoes or courgettes, chocolate, pistachio, apricot and natural panettone; good coffee, vast fresh pastries, biscuits and chocolates. Brioche needs improvement, a little dry and with little filling.

Friendly service! We had a great meal on the terrace. Come back next time you visit Locarno.

Terrible service! I wanted to take a cup to go just to make sure I will can take it to the train later and informed them that I will sit. They have made the coffee and didn’t let me sit and asked me out almost shouting! Terrible service, impolite and does not worth my money!

Welcoming environment with lots of pastry delicacies. Also purchased a chestnut panettone. Fairly high prices, even the bottle of mineral water. I would go there more often…

The tarts are a poem and the hot chocolate is a dream!! Many things are also lactose-free.
