Albergo Ristorante Cardada in Locarno

Great view and great food! I had gnocci with gorgonzola sauce, pears and walnuts - fantastic! Very easy to reach via the gondola, but also via hiking trails. Absolute recommendation!

Cardada is a beautiful viewpoint. We stayed there for two nights in August 2023. The rooms are basic but clean. The staff very friendly. We were the only guests and could always choose the food. The price/performance ratio for Ticino is unbeatable. We'd love to come back. Tanti cari saluti

We enjoyed the sun terrace, the beer and the cappuccino in the beautiful weather. The staff was very friendly. We can't say anything about the hotel.

Delicious dish with great value for money

Very good food, decent portions, affordable prices, kind waiter, and an amazing view over Locarno. We had a lasagna bolognese and a minestrone soup and both were very good.

Unfortunately there is no warm chocolate sauce for Coup Denmark.

The magnificent place, the rude staff at 10:30 a.m. telling us that the tables are reserved for noon then finally after apologizing for being there for the view and having a drink for 20 minutes the waiter kept making unpleasant remarks, not possible these gebts who don't understand that it's reserved for 10 minutes of grumpiness, hey if your job of setting the table for lunch bothers you or that tourists with children annoy you, it's good to change jobs. I had to put up with the remarks of this being who believed he was in a public square, speaking loudly while smoking. A word of advice: rinse your mouth, you won't feel very good. Don't let yourself be the customers because they are the ones who need us and not the other way around.

Before visiting the restaurant I read the reviews here on Google Maps. From unfriendly staff who only speak Italian and don't understand a word of German to "very fine pizza" you can read everything there. I asked myself if I really wanted to do this to myself. But then I decided to go for it and enjoyed lunch on the terrace in the restaurant. Here's what I experienced: The service was very courteous and also understood German. I also got space on the terrace. Well, I was there on a Monday afternoon. What it looks like at the weekend, I have no idea. The pizza is really very tasty. The base is very thin and very crispy! I think the prices are okay too. 5 francs for a drink and 18 francs for a pizza prosciutto is suitable for a place like this. And the view: simply fantastic! I haven't had any bad experiences. My conclusion is very clear: I think it's worth a visit.

Excursion restaurant that thrives on running tourists. Somehow the restaurant remained standing 50 years ago and yet something has always been added to it when it was time for a general overhaul. Nice view on the terrace☀️

Dinner, overnight stay and breakfast were all very good. We received excellent service from Matteo and Francesca. Food was excellent, fresh and plentiful. Rooms are clean, spacious and functional. We, 14 adults and 6 small children, enjoyed it despite the rainy weather.

Absolute disaster, anyone who doesn't speak Italian will simply be ignored. Francesca the waitress had a very unfriendly and arrogant demeanor. Ordered the menu and got the wrong one. When we paid we were left behind for 40 minutes and all other guests were processed first. Conclusion: Never again

Very bad and unfriendly service. Cutlery and napkins were carelessly thrown down and the plates were torn away before eating was finished. Shameful...

We looked at the reviews and still decided to have something to eat and drink. We were able to order the cola/beer quickly and the fries were okay. I wouldn't have wanted to order more. Other guests were sent away after us, others were allowed to order. It was probably due to local language skills. Payment was quick and easy. Tip for “connoisseurs” - 400 meters next door..

Nicely located, very good view, but I had a salad with pulpet that was inedible. My colleagues had schnitzel fries which, however, were good. Staff was friendly. Service was quick but there weren't that many people. Never again

The food was good, very nice view. The restaurant is right next to the train station. Minus points for the long waiting time to order (about 20 minutes). The food came relatively quickly, but it took a long time to pay. There were a lot of guests, but on a dream day during the holiday season you have to have more serving staff.

The waitress was very unfriendly and the food was very bland. I had spaghetti and even that was overcooked. And the sauce like it comes from a can. Only the view is cool.

A beautiful hotel with a really nice view of Lake Maggiore. What more can I say, come to this hotel and you will see 😉🙂

We were almost the only guests. So we got our food quickly. The pizza and the soup were tasty. The salad with chicken could have been better. The price for the whole thing is rather expensive.

Perfect sunny day: my partner and I decide to go to Cardada for lunch. We arrive in Cardada by funicular and cable car and a restaurant appears at the exit and we decide to have lunch there. Wonderful terrace overlooking the entire Locarno area and Lake Maggiore. All is well when we are not served by a poorly comical and exuberant employee/waiter, who treated us, throughout the service, inappropriately just because we were kids, unlike other (adult) customers. Comedy is well accepted, but up to a certain point. LET'S REMEMBER, CUSTOMERS MUST BE RESPECTED OR THEY WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN. We decide to order 1 dish each: polenta and braised meat and a mixed salad, which are served to us at the right time: "a plus". But everything is fine as long as… we eat. The polenta was raw and tasteless, with the braised sauce covering the flavor of the meat (perhaps to correct a mistake?). The only thing that filled us up was a fresh mixed salad. All in all, the service is insufficient, the cuisine is decent. For the kitchen: be careful! The chef must always taste what comes out of his kitchen. For the service: we avoid exuberant attitudes and above all every customer is GOLD, regardless of their age and social class. You deserve 2 stars Giampiero Carpegna

Unfortunately we've had to leave before received any drinks and food. First table was cleaned/disinfected after 10min of seating. Second, we (father and 2 kids) didn't get any drinks/food after 35min since order.

Nice terrace, great view, great food , very friendly staff and decent value. Located right at the top of the cable car with a little playground next to the terrace and a bigger playground down below where you can let slightly older kids loose.

Service, rooms, food great. We felt very well looked after. Nadia and her staff were super nice. The aperitif and dinner were very tasty and generous. The new staff is very attentive. Another time again! :-)

Truly a beautiful restaurant with a SPECTACULAR view!! With a very professional and competent staff.

I immediately fell in love with this place, surrounded by nature and with a beautiful view. Whenever I want to relax it is the ideal place.

We ate an excellent bourguignonne fondue and many other delicacies, the staff is really very friendly and it is located in the middle of nature, a place that offers: relaxation, space for children to play and a truly beautiful view.

Even on nice days, take advantage of a break on the large 60-seat terrace with typical Ticino cuisine. At 200 meters there is a walkway suspended in the void where you can observe a beautiful panorama of Lake Maggiore. The cable car remains open until 15 NOVEMBER 2020!

Rather average restaurant. Prices are a bit high. The service was ok, although a bit slow.

Never again! I can't say anything about the hotel as it hasn't been used. But we will never visit the restaurant again. A tiny little piece of apple cake, without a dollop of cream on top, nothing, nada, but for a fabulous Fr. 8.--! Outrageous!

Avoid. The items in the bill were priced higher than in the menu. Penne Gorgonzola 16chf vs 15chf, Polenta for kids 12 chf vs 8chf. When paid by card, the waiter put 48.50chf instead of 44.50chf, when confronted claimed he was in a hurry and so made a mistake.

The service was extremely bad, you had to wait a long time, it wasn't cleared away for a long time and when it was cleared he emptied it. 👎

Underground! Waited 40 minutes for a salad which was inedible. The complaint was simply noted. The service seems totally overwhelmed and uncoordinated. Had to ask several times what we had ordered. One star is still too many!

Staff totally overwhelmed, inattentive, disorganized and unfriendly. Unfortunately, the quality of the food also leaves a lot of room for improvement. At least there was cold beer and a beautiful view.

The food was an imposition. Unseasoned, carelessly slapped onto the plate and simply inedible. I had polenta and gorgonzola. Service never showed up again. I had to pay at the bar (consistent with other experiences). You could hear the two waitresses chatting inside the whole time. So you had time. When I was told that the food wasn't good, all I got was "mi dispiace....". It's a shame I didn't read the reviews before the visit... Please don't stop here!!

I'm not picky, but the food wasn't warm and wasn't tasty either. Service was unfriendly and not attentive. Dishes weren't cleared away and we paid at the bar because no one came to us... Unfortunately, we will definitely never pass here again. A pity

There were five of us and the food was served at large intervals. The cordon bleu was briefly fried, the meat was raw and the cheese was not melted. Not to be expected at 35.- Not recommended, but nicely located.

Very beautiful inn with panoramic views from the outdoor terrace over Locarno and Lake Maggiore. The interior is also warm. The staff speaks Italian and French. We ate a cheese dish for 12chf but the plate was well stocked. Like all alpine restaurants, prices remain quite high (4chf for a Coke) Nearby, a top playground with a duo swing and a giant blue bench.

Service was unfriendly, ketchup with the fries was a request that couldn't be fulfilled (it had run out???) and we had to wait about 30 minutes for the bill. All in all, it gives the impression that the monopoly position is being exploited here!

The food was great, when we finally got it. The service personell was unorganized. We had to wait for nearly 1 (!) hour to get our food (we ordered simple things, nothing fancy). The servers also felt unmotivated and not super friendly. We highly recommend the owners to add more personell! Instead of eating here, I recommend buying a picknick in Locarno and then eat at the panorama platform on top of Cimetta. That is what I should have done. The view on top is simply amazing (see photo).

Long wait for service, even though there were few guests. Listless service in gray house clothes. Brasato and polenta not worthy of the name. Not seasoned. We ordered: 1 whole Brasato and 1 half, with 1 salad. What was brought: 2 whole brasato and 2 salads. In short: we'll never come back!

Everything is a bit more expensive... but the service is slow and not particularly friendly... but you can afford that if there are hardly any alternatives. Hardly, because it's worth walking 400 meters further towards the chairlift...

Long wait for service. Then another 10' until drinks came. Lackluster service. Expensive children's menus, brasato and polenta not worthy of the name. Not seasoned. I left open beer, it was warm and not carbonated. Not recommended. It was the same for the last 3 years. Our mistake, but the kids were hungry... 😖

Basic restaurant, very close to the cable cart upper station. Staff is very nice, the place is clean and food is simple, View is AMAZING. But prices are very high for the basic food they served. We payed usd120 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Beautifully located, only accessible by public transport or on foot.

Beautiful summit worth the cost to go up (use your halbtax to get 50% off). Make the trip up to Cimetta if you have time as the views from there are stunning. But Cardada is also wonderful and the many hikes and easy walks makes for a fun day/afternoon. There's a kid's treasure hunt which is useful for keeping them entertained, as well as an excellent playground and several good restaurants.

Beautiful setting, the view from the terrace is breathtaking!!! Everything excellent, thanks to the manager Vitorio who never disappoints!!! We will be back soon

We had a great time! VERY KIND staff, excellent cuisine, homemade desserts and honest prices!

Hotel is unique, high with the train, view is really amazing, room 6 with a great terrace, hostess and employees very, very friendly, recommended, we will definitely come again
