Alexi's in Zürich

We ate the porcini fondue and it was more like a cream of mushroom with too much wine and pieces of garlic and VERY LITTLE CHEESE. If you have tried good fondue before, do not eat it here.

Please take BIG NOTE of the reviews on TERRIBLE SERVICE. I did not read the reviews, and ended up with an expensive meal that I didn’t order. The waitress was rude and inattentive during our dinner. I order 1 Fondue Klassisch and my family ordered 2 Fondue Bauerne with bacon the waitress made a mistake and gave me the little Fondue with bacon and the guys the big Klassisch with no meat, as soon as I realized I was eating bacon I told the waitress there was a mistake in my food, she sarcastically laughed and said “I need to get the chef glasses he did not read the order right” and she walked away to the kitchen. The worst part was that I’m allergic to beacon and the waitress didn't seem to care. When it was time to pay, she refused to correct the mistake . Tricked us into paying more for glasses of tap water NO bottle was offered by the waitress. We were charged for mineral water. The waitress didn’t adjust the price for not bringing the correct order of fondue. After a back and forth with the waitress she claimed it was the chef’s fault not hers and we still had to pay for fondue she didn’t give us. She agreed to deduct 5 chf like if she was doing me a big favor and she refused the chance the price of the mistake they made on 2 orders. Money is not the issue or the problem but why would they overreact over a small sum? The end result I wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend ALEXIS restaurant.

A colleague had invited me to eat here for my birthday, we wanted to sit outside as you can't smoke inside, completely understandable and no problem, however the employee from Bangladesh became suspicious of us and pointed at us in the restaurant with her colleague, kept looking at us and talking about us Talked to us, we were two young men dressed elegantly and didn't do anything suspicious. We were forced to sit outside at another table closer to the window, she kept coming out to ask if we were ready when we were obviously still eating, totally unfriendly and didn't even say thank you for a 5 CHF tip. You have lost my colleague as a regular customer, you won't come back here and I will tell my friends that the customer is not welcomed here. And all of this on my birthday, so incredibly disappointed.

Didn’t enjoy our meal, ordered the traditional fondu very heavy wine tatste, after you don’t like it the waitress tells you we can make it without wine, doesn’t say when your ordering do you like heavy wine taste, left 3/4 of our meal due to poor communication. Common sense if you have international visitors to offer insight and help. Skip and find a better educated staff.

Alexi's Restaurant is located in Zurich in Niederdörfli. The food was very good 👍. For starters we had a nut salad with bacon and eggs, very tasty and one portion was enough for both of us. For the main course, my girlfriend had a cheese fondue and I had the Wiener Schnitzel. We enjoyed both, the fondue for one person was very large and too much for my girlfriend to try. According to her, the service was new, she was personable and friendly, unfortunately a rarity in this day and age after Corona. I will visit Alexi's Restaurant again and can recommend it.

The older blonde lady who served us was sooo weird... complaining all the time, in no mood to serve... I didn't know there was such a thing in service... The food was quite good but the lady just gave us lunch messed up with this weird attitude...she's definitely been there too long and shouldn't be fired or anything like that because I can't imagine that someone would want a person like that to work for them. 1 star for ambience again because of the lady.

Normal food, nothing extraordinary, average service, I had an issue with the bill, the manager very kindly supported me with clarification, in general a regular place.

A bar like there were many in the past. You are also allowed to smoke there. I'm a non-smoker myself, but smokers are often more sociable people. ;-)

We had friends the other night at this wonderful restaurant over dinner. The food ordered is good and well prepared. But the real experience is that the Interactive staff are great hosts. To sum it up we had a great time .

Please take note of the reviews on how terribly salty the food is here - salty to the point where a couple of bites left my tongue feeling raw. I did not thoroughly read the reviews, and ended up with a very pricey and completely inedible meal (that I, of course, paid for in full). Before tonight, I have never sent back an uneaten meal because it was so awful. Also, if you sit outside, be prepared to be harassed multiple times by undesirable sorts passing on the street. One man was eventually shoved down the street by another guest due to how aggressively he was approaching tables, including mine.

Great service here and a fabulous wine selection. We had great wine and did fondue which was amazing. Aside from fondu they have a well rounded swiss menu.

Our regular pub for years, also because of smoking. The innkeeper Erich is half Austrian, but entirely Styrian. The staff very friendly. Unfortunately our darling Lea has her last one today. All the best.

A bit tight in terms of space, but tasty Wiener schnitzel and hot plate chicken breast. The garlic bread is highly recommended as an appetizer.

Good service and location. Great portions on the fondue. However if you're not used to large amounts of salt that Europeans consume I would skip this, as it definitely was too salty for my murican stomach.

The service was great and the servers were so friendly. The beef filet (cook yourself on a hot stone) was one of the most tender and flavorful steaks I've had in a very long time. My meal at Alexi's was my favorite meal out of many from 2 weeks traveling all over Switzerland.

Fondue was quite salty for my taste. The vibes and customer service was top notch and recommended for anyone wanting to try fondue. Several other food options look tasty such as the wein schnitzel

Food and service were good. I was disappointed by 10+ franc charge for water. We just asked for water and got small, expensive bottled water. This is crazy when Zurich has the greatest tap water.

But the noise from the DJ's on the street next door was a disaster!

Nice restaurant with bar. The service is always very friendly and what you order never takes long to arrive. You can watch the people strolling and the hustle and bustle right on Niederdorfstrasse.

Not family friendly. Was told I couldn't share fondue with my 2 small children. What will I do if they want to have a taste? They could've just asked me to pay extra. Also, my daughter was told she could not drink her water which she got from the nearby water fountain. We had to leave because it was too weird. Maybe they just didn't want to serve us or something.

Went twice whilst on holiday in Zurich, lovely approachable staff, Steak cooked perfectly, the hot stones gave a BBQ vibe too! Plenty of choice for wine too.

The interior is a bit old and a bit small, but the food was delicious and not too salty. It was a little bit spicy. I think the food prices are reasonable. The server was very friendly.

Terrible service. The waiter did not write down our order and forgot two dishes we ordered. She also did not provide us with plates and cutlery.. after asking multiple times we just gave up and used our hands. Also the wine glass is so large for the amount that they put in the glass. Would not recommend this place.

Great menu with lots of selection. The original Wiener Schnitzel was very good. Our waitress could have been a little friendlier ◡̈. Since the outside area is in the pedestrian zone, it is a bit tight but still nice.

I keep coming here with my clients and the team always make us feel welcome. The owner is there to personally check on his guests. Prices are very reasonable for Zurich. We had a very delicious cheese fondue with mushrooms! The space is a little tight and has no ventilation. Many people order grilled meat and that's why we left there smoked. The price is very fair by Swiss standards. I would go back and eat outside.

Fondue was ok but service was bad and atmosphere seemed stuffy. The worst part was that when it was time to pay, they tried to scam us into paying more for bottled water. When ordering the water, both of us very clearly said tap water please. The waiter didn’t comment and brought us a glass each (no bottle). When my friend asked for more tap water at the end of the dinner, a different waiter said we had mineral water and there was a back and forth on this. The end result was that she passive aggressively didn’t bring us any water for 5+ min, so we decided to just go and pay. Then on our bill there was 9+ chf for mineral water. After another back and forth on this, where they again claimed we had ordered mineral water and they don’t usually serve tap water, they agreed to let us pay for the tap water only, but they made it sound as if they are doing a big favor for us. Also, they charged us 2 chf per person for the 2-3 dl of tap water we had each consumed (at the end of the dinner they had refused to refill our glasses). In terms of money it’s not a big deal, but why would you gaslight your guests over such a small sum? Definitely did not leave a nice feeling after the dinner.

Waitress said the dish we wanted would take over 30min plus so she suggested a chicken dish that comes raw and you have to cook at your table. That dish took over 30min anyway. Horrible experience. Avoid.

I went to this establishment for dinner, the establishment was empty, I said that I was calling a table for one person, she asked me to sit down to eat at the bar counter, although the entire establishment was empty... what the hell? the bottom is broken and it is in this institution.

The food and service is excellent

Unfortunately nothing at all for me, the seating was way too narrow and it was hopeless with a wheelchair. But the smoker was empty. I only discovered this when I left the restaurant.
