It was our first time on Hasenmatt, the highest point in Kt. Solothurn. After a 15-minute hike and very hungry, we stopped at the Althüsli restaurant. The food was excellent, large portions, just real home-style Swiss country cuisine at extremely fair prices, as it should be. We were even offered to get some more, but we were full.

After a hike from the Oberdorf valley station to the Althüsli on a Monday when the weather was nice, we stood in front of the closed door. Thirsty and hungry, we hiked back to the mountain station of the Weissenstein gondola with our disappointed and somewhat tired German friends. The day before I found out about opening days or closing days and unfortunately I didn't read anything that said they were closed on Monday, and nothing else was posted anywhere. We don't think it's OK that three mountain restaurants are closed on Monday.

We weren't in the rest. Just walking outside. But a trip there is always good.

Since we wanted to treat ourselves to something special on the national holiday, I called ahead and made a reservation. When we arrived we found out that there was only a reduced menu. Well, that was true for the food, but unfortunately not for the prices. The food was okay and plentiful, but considering the hefty prices, you have to ask yourself how that can be justified. It's a 20-minute drive along a dirt road that will ruin your entire car, and the restaurant was also quite loud and stormy this time. Not as great as it used to be!
