Ambrosi in Zürich

Short version: Ambrosi has a great atmosphere and a very nice waitress (as long as she isn't stressed). The food is okay, but nothing special. In terms of price, I think it's too expensive for what you get. Especially because it felt like half of the ingredients weren't there (I can't judge whether it's an exception or a rule). We had a fun evening here. Detailed report: Five of us were at Ambrosi on a Saturday evening around 1915. For me the restaurant was about half full, but the service was pretty rotating. At first there were (slightly) longer waiting times and the service was very short. But I found this still within reason. The emptier the Ambrosi became, the friendlier the service became. In the end, the service was the highlight of the evening. I ordered an Ambrosi Mule for 16.-. This is supposed to be a specialty of the house. The cup was a maximum of 3/4 full (rather less) and instead of kaffir leaves and passion fruit there was lime and thyme (see pictures). We were not informed about any missing ingredients. Something like this is absolutely wrong and should not happen. The waitress was attentive and probably noticed that something was wrong. With the second drink, the Pimps no. 1 (16.-), the glass came full to the brim. The waitress also apologized, saying it didn't have all the ingredients and that's why different ones were used. The missing ingredients lasted the entire evening (including during the meal). On a Saturday evening, I expect the kitchen to have all the ingredients there. From this point on, however, you were informed directly when you ordered and you could change your mind before it was on the table... As compensation we received a beer on the house. The beer was good. For starters we had a pizza (1:50 p.m.). This was a bit small and more of a mix between focaccia and pizza. But it was really tasty. For the main course we had Pasta la Vista in two flavors (All’Amatriciana/Ortolano). Unfortunately the pasta with chicken was no longer available(?). The taste was good, but nothing special. For 20 to 24 CHF per person, the portion was significantly too small. I was still hungry after eating. But I no longer breastfed him at Ambrosi. I found the visit to Ambrosi okay and even enjoyed myself. Plus point: the map is online. Minus point: The card is of no use because the ingredients are missing. I get significantly more for the money at other places. But I wouldn't advise against a visit. If you want to be sure, take the ingredients yourself. Maybe the missing ingredients were actually just a one-time thing. 3 stars is a bit too little, but unfortunately it really wasn't 4 stars.

Really cool place to have brunch. Large selection of food, cool atmosphere and very friendly staff. The pasta at the end was also delicious. Happy to come back!

Cozy little Italian/Mediterranean joint in the lovely viaduct area in Zurich. Pasta is truly home made. Friendly personnell and cozy interior. Absolutely recommended!

The atmosphere is nice but I was disappointed by the food portion size, I ordered the moussaka and the portion was super small compare to how it was a few years ago. I was still hungry after eating that so I complained to the waiter, they did not offer a solution about the food but they suggested desert. Bottomline,I won't try it again.

Have a Pasta La Vista! eaten. Each pasta dish can be ordered either as a single portion or as “Pasta La Vista”, which is intended to be shared. The portion was very fair. It's enough to fill you up with two people. If you're slightly hungry, Pasta La Vista can also feed three people. The price-performance ratio is great and the ambience is first class. There is also a fine selection of desserts.

We arrived at 8.45pm After 30 minutes they served us the appetizer At 9.50pm the chef asks me if the ingredients of my dish are ok (I had asked for no parmesan) I tell him don't worry, if it can't be removed add garlic and oil. After 10 minutes my garlic, oil and pepperoni dish arrives. I can't stand spicy food and he didn't tell me. I ask you to please take it off. They ask me if classic tomato pasta is okay, I say yes, more than an hour has passed and I'm hungry. Two glass of wine + a small water + artichoke crouton + two plates of pasta (after an hour) = €78 Some olives/bread with oil/chips/cafe offered for the wait since there was a large group so they already knew that the times were longer? No even if you're really telling me you're making me pay for a plate of something I haven't eaten and I have it at someone who only has tomato sauce? Answer: “yeah” next time it will be better. Sorry but there won't be a next one.

Succulent fresh pasta in a pretty setting.

The two of us were there for brunch today and we felt very comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive! The brunch itself is not as traditional as you might think. expected BUT; The food was delicious, the portions were very generous and the pasta was really great! We'll be back😊

Overpriced - price performance is not right. Quality is poor, salad plates are loveless - mixed lettuce leaves out of the bag - you can do better for the price asked. It's a shame - lots of room for improvement.

The atmosphere at Ambrosi is very pleasant. The brunch was very good, but arranged confusingly. But we will definitely come back.

food was ok. Service unfriendly. Had to wait 1 hour for food. everyone was unfriendly and slow. NOT RECOMMENDED. There was no pasta pan online and the menu didn't say anything why the pan wasn't available.

Went to a Sunday brunch at Ambrosi for the first time (11/19/23) and it was great! The ambience, food and service - everything was great! Thanks to the lovely waitress (blonde woman, unfortunately I don't know her name) Despite the stress and crowds, she had a smile and was quick and friendly to serve. Thanks! 5 stars: will definitely come back soon! And what’s more: great value for money!

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at this charming restaurant and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The personal and friendly service was outstanding. It was great value for money as we were served a delicious selection of dishes. The ambience of the restaurant was also fantastic. I highly recommend this place for brunch. Gladly again!

Cute place for drinks or dinner

The café in the viaduct is very cozy. You will soon feel at home. The service is very nice. We were only there for coffee and cake, but it was very nicely prepared and very tasty.

Staff made the experience there fun and enjoyable. Food was tasty . Looking fwd to nxt visit.

Brunch buffet designed completely carelessly, the presentation reminded me of canteen food. Some of the staff behaved unprofessionally. Price/performance is not right for me at all. I definitely won't go there a second time :-(

Uncomplicated, delicious, friendly, cozy! We were a group of ten and everything went perfectly. We felt very comfortable!

Was there for the Sunday brunch which has a few fatal flaws. Firstly there is just one employee who mans the food area so you cannot help yourself. This means it can take quite a while to get what you need, and discourages more than one visit. You also get the impression her role is to send you away with as little as possible on the already rather small plates. This lack of generosity is echoed by the drinks waiter who offered us tea/coffee OR orange juice despite the online menu stating both are included (luckily I’d read it and asked for both anyway). Quality of the food is rather low; breads and pastries are soggy, scrambled eggs tasted like they’d been sitting in a hot plate for some hours, muffins clearly from at least the day before, etc. Finally when it came time to pay they tried to charge me for my toddler despite them clearly stating under 4’s are not charged. No apology was offered after they finally removed this from the bill. On the plus side the place looks fab, stylish and comfortable. Coffee is nice, orange juice fantastic. Overall, great for a coffee but give the brunch a miss.

small and fine Went to brunch.....it's obviously a bit expensive, but you get a really large selection of delicious delicacies The only thing I was missing was a nice French toast So now at least I have something to complain about because otherwise there is nothing to complain about, everything is excellent and freshly prepared and every wish is fulfilled, of course only within the scope of what is possible All in all, happy again

The food is okay, the price is however cheap, compared to others. It's just not as tasty as some other 5 star restaurants, nothing wrong still very worth going!

Fabulous brunch in Zuri West on Sundays and great for just a coffee or a drink.

Very nice restaurant. A mix between traditional and modern elements. The atmosphere is beautiful with the beautiful stone walls. The coffee is very good and is made with a kind of vintage piston machine, very tasty. Price-performance ratio good. The waiters were friendly and pleasant, they could have been a little more accommodating, but very pleasant. We'd love to come back. 😊

Have visited the Ambrosi on the recommendation of a friend. Never experienced such a rip-off. I ordered the salad which is written with 20.50 CHF. In the bill it suddenly costs 31.50 CHF. On request, it was said by the waitress: fees for eating on site. In addition: Cola came without carbonation and salad was also very disappointing for the price.

My partner and I had an amazing experience today at Ambrosi when we came for an early dinner. Even though we arrived before the start of the chef’s shift, the chef was very kind and accommodating and started making the pasta dish straight away (we had a flight to catch). We had an excellent prawn pasta to share (the Pasta La Vista deal is great value). The waitress was very friendly and efficient, and the ambiance was unparalleled with lovely music and a cool breeze. We would definitely like to come back the next time we are in Zurich!

Went there yesterday with colleagues and the pasta wasn't cooked through. I'm a fan of al dente, but this was half raw. It's a shame, because I've always liked the sauces. In addition, the poor cook was all alone serving and also had to collect, which is pretty unhygienic.

The small, pretty restaurant in Zurich is located on Viaduktstrasse under the railway arches. The restaurant was full for a business event, a student graduation party. Some tables outside were also occupied. The aperò with various pickled vegetables: tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, artichokes and olives was followed by a market salad, the main course was a "pasta feast" of carbonara, pesto, ortolana and polpette piccante. Due to lack of space, not everyone could try each variety. The pesto was delicious with lots of fresh pine nuts. Dessert was also planned but was not served. When the first young people said goodbye, the service also noticed that they should have reacted and served the tiramisù. But at the latest when coffee was ordered. Certainly worth a private visit.

Ambrosi was a fantastic restaurant that I visited when I travelled to Zurich in early April. The food at Ambrosi was absolutely divine. Every dish is expertly I got was prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The wine selection is also very impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. They go out of their way to make sure that I felt welcomed and comfortable, and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Overall, Ambrosi is a must-visit restaurant in Zurich. With its delicious food, elegant ambiance, and exceptional service, it's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a memorable meal with friends or loved ones. Highly recommended!

Very nicely decorated location, small but nice. Good food at moderate prices and nice, helpful staff.

I have often bought pasta for lunch here. Today I noticed they have the Poinz app and said, oh I've been here so many times! Still only got one point. So far so good, when I wanted to eat my pasta quickly at the bar table because of the rain (5 minutes), I was sent out into the rain on the grounds that the guests inside "pay a lot more". What kind of Räpplisplitters are these? I quickly ate my pasta next door at the bakery. And even though I had food from the competition, the service just smiled at me in a friendly manner. Where will I shop in the future? Especially since the food was never really good. Carbonara is not Carbonara (with cream and Schupfnudeln???), Amatriciana is not Amariciana (with chilli and olives???).

Ambrosi tapas for two people with very varied ingredients are highly recommended. With a good glass of wine and Züriwasser you can have a very cozy evening in this restaurant.

As a group, we ordered different pasta pans and were able to enjoy a great variety. We really enjoyed the four selected varieties. The staff was very friendly, even though we arrived quite late. Great ambience.

A restaurant not far from Hardbrucke. The atmosphere is nice, the decorations are nice, as well as the interior. The service is very good, and the staff is friendly and kind. This is supposed to be an Italian restaurant, but the food tells you something else. The pasta alla carbonara came with the wrong type of pasta (not spaghetti or similar), with bacon and small cherry tomatoes cut on the top. Then there was pasta with salami (my God): the salami was cut and put in the middle of the pasta (just thinking about this, I am going to lower the rate). The pasta type was the same of carbobara. The tiramisu was frozen and pushed into a small glass. The espresso was just dark bitter water But if you are not italian you will may like all of this.

Beautiful location under the train viaduct. Renovated and decorated with a good sense for the historical walls. I like the reasonably priced pasta and pizza dishes. The service was excellent and super friendly. A very nice place for a relaxed dinner with friends. A 100% recommendation.

It was my first time at Ambrosi. Loved the location and the service. I’m debating about the food: - I had a GREAT amatriciana (although the pasta was over cooked) - however, they offer pasta al pesto with cream 😡, and carbonara with cream 😡 This is a big « no no ! » Overall, the value for money is a bit low too.

Nice place pour Apéro/dinner but I don't recommand for brunch. They were not ready at 10, when we asked for waffles at 10.15 we were told to wait 30min for the machine to warm up. When we tried again 30min later the guy just burned the waffles. The dough not even home made, they bought some already made one. We finally got waffles at 11 but they were barely eatable. Plus it's expensive...worst value for money.

Food is good. Service is a bit distracted and rude and therefore much emptier than similar places nearby. I guess people are already avoiding it

Excellent little restorant / bar with amazing staff. We arrived in the afternoon around 2 o'clock when kitchen was closed but waitress was kind enough to make us spaghetti herself! Food was very nice, staff even better. Food is on a expensive side of things so be ready for that.

It's a shame how bad it has become. Unfortunately, they have rejected their breakfast concept here and have obviously tripped themselves up. Details: 5-6 tables were occupied and our breakfast order took over 45 minutes. Additionally, the fried egg and bacon were cold and the cheese and cold cuts never came. Very disappointing how Corona practically ruined the previous restaurant. (especially since I still really like the cappuccino!)

Nice restaurant, friendly service, delicious homemade pasta and a delicious cheesecake for dessert. Three of us were there on a Friday evening without a reservation and still got a table. But it was quite full, so I recommend making a reservation.

Small, Italian resti in the viaduct arches: homemade pasta and other Italian dishes, small menu but highly recommended. Nice atmosphere on the weekend, especially brunch has everything your heart desires. Always happy.
