Small American style take away restaurant. Delicious sandwiches (they are customizable) and with quality ingredients! The manager was very kind and available to guide choices. We will definitely be back, a must try if you are in Locarno.

I went to this place for the first time with a friend who already knew it and spoke well of it to me. I must say that I am fully satisfied with the variety of sandwiches and poke bowls (vegan and otherwise) and the exceptional quality that each of these has! They make everything themselves, from the bread to the sauces to the desserts. You can also create your own sandwich. Furthermore, they also do takeaways throughout the Locarno area!! Both in the workplace (for a tasty lunch break) and if you are by the lake and want to receive a delicious sandwich! The owner is super kind, friendly, and above all LOVES and BELIEVES in what he proposes!! I highly recommend it!!

Wow! Very good. First of all, a very engaging welcome and lots of choice. I took the pulled pork, large and good with a choice of fresh and well-matched ingredients. The hotdog, large and well seasoned, was also a very good choice for a friend. We can't wait to try everything else too! Try it….

In such an intimate place, who would have thought of finding such crazy sandwiches? Chubby and abundant, they fill your stomach and soul. And the sauces? Mouth-watering stuff! If you're passing by and you're hungry, do yourself a favor and stop by.

Simply fantastic, it's my absolute favorite place: super friendly staff (I always happily stop to chat) excellent food and drinks and spoiled for choice, with a price more than adequate for the quality (second to none). I love the tartar sandwich, while for the drinks I vary every time, and every time it's an explosion of taste... Never been disappointed. Every time I go to Locarno I have to go there! Wow.

Stopped by twice and the cashier is very welcoming! The food is very good and you can taste that it was all homemade (I got the hamburger). This was definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Locarno! Not touristy and definitely deserves more hype

Everything is clearly made by hand and with love. Ingredients are fresh and it’s obvious through the taste. A small store with large potential. Caters towards a younger audience and will satisfy even the most sophisticated taste buds. Spectacular! It immediately catches the eye due to the particularity of the room and the furnishings. When you enter you are greeted in a very warm and friendly way. Walked by during the day and tried their chicken wrap which was really good. They mentioned they did home delivery as well and compared to other home delivery services in Switzerland it is reasonably priced. So we orderer yet another Chicken wrap and a rooster with gluten free bread. Both really tasty 😋 Small mishap with the online order (kitchen was closed, even though you could place an order for the time we wanted delivery) but the staff quickly texted and gave us the option of a refund or wait until the kitchen opened. We waited and was for sure not disappointed. Friendly staff, good food at a reasonable price 🙏

I was here when I visited Locarno, a very friendly and cozy ambience! The host and chef were warm and friendly & fast too! We ordered Oreo Frappacino which was perfectly sweet and the whipped cream was a highlight The roasted potato with homemade vegan alioli was so fresh and warm, we really enjoyed it! The vegan burger was so good and the homemade bread was really fluffy and soft. The vegan wrap was to die for and so was the nutella cheese cake. WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK! Over all: fairly priced, plenty of vegan options, delightfully tasty food, welcoming hosts

I want to take 5 minutes to best describe this place. First of all it is managed by Andrea, the owner, he is a person who knows exactly and perfectly what flavors the things he prepares should have (yes, the meat of a hamburger for example can have two hundred different flavors depending on the quality, the way which it is prepared etc). Everything you will eat at the American Bakery has been selected, tasted, enjoyed, studied before being offered and will be served to you in the exact way you want it! I ate this pulled pork that Andrea recommended to me (knowing my tastes) and my brain literally exploded. I would add that the place is located in the old town of Locarno, and that if you pass by even just to have a Vanilla Coffee (which I highly recommend) or a frappuccino while you are taking a walk it will completely turn your day. To those who complain about the wait, I want to try to explain one thing...apart from the fact that there isn't this huge wait (I remember that there are two of them, the owner and the chef) and it is the owner himself who receives the orders, makes the delivers, prepares everything that is a cafeteria and entertains customers (yes, if you go in with an open mind you come out having learned something) but...guys, it's not a fast food restaurant, absolutely not. Prices? Accessible, even for the little ones, what can I say... a truly special place!

Lovely little place, truly singular and particular in the old city of Locarno. I bought and consumed a "seeafood bagel" with salmon and Tropea onion sauce on the spot and I can say it was really good and with flavors that melted in the mouth.🔝

Had lunch here today. We (2 adults & 2 children) received great advice. The owner took a lot of time to explain everything to us and respond to our wishes. Our daughter ordered a very tasty hot dog. For our son it had to be the BLT. My husband had a Patriot and I took the potatoes. Everything freshly prepared and extremely tasty. The chef brought us everything and even checked to see if it tasted good. The bubleteas are also super delicious. A really nice takeaway a little out of the way in Locarno. We'll definitely come back. Keep it up guys!

We're visiting Switzerland and before flying back to NYC, we decided to stop by at American Bakery (an American bakery here?) in old town Locarno. It's off the beaten track but based on the amazing reviews we decided to give it a try. And I'm glad we did! Andrea, the owner, shows devotion and knowledge for his work, besides speaking English perfectly. I don't eat meat, so he suggested a Super Veggie bagel with a local mountain cheese called "Tomino". The cheese is flavorful and perfectly balances the sweetness of the home-made fermented red cabbage. The bread (a great feature and surprise) is homemade with beet juice, so its color is purple. My girlfriend had a slice of pistachio cheesecake and she said it was amazing We left really happy of our little detour!

A few years ago I came across this hidden gem in Locarno somewhat by chance. The kitchen leaves you speechless at first and closed in the meantime. All too good to waste time talking about. I've tried everything on the menu now. Now I enjoy creating what I want to eat. Today salad designed by me with Andrea's advice.

What a find! In the cute streets of old town Locarno, we found some amazing American food. All sorts of burgers, hotdogs, pulled pork, veggie burgers (their own recipe!). Everything is homemade, even the bread and the pickles! And you can taste the quality and the love. I had a slice of nutella cheesecake and my boyfriend had a lychee-Curaçao slush and they were both to die for. As a plus, they use all biodegradable packaging. I was really impressed by the attention to details. Highly recommended!!!

A discovery truly to remember! Small place, very warm welcome and what about the sandwiches? Truly remarkable and unique. Yummy! The drinks also reserve surprises, but as surprises, I leave the taste of discovery. It's a shame we didn't have room for dessert, but it's an excellent excuse to return. I recently discovered my new favorite place in Locarno!!!! As a Native American, I can honestly say this is the best place based on the American concept I’ve ever seen in all of Switzerland…. In my opinion it’s much better quality than most “American “ menus . The food is delicious, presented beautifully and certainly made with love. You can taste the freshness in their homemade bread, the quality in their moist flavorful chicken and special sauces. The coffee is great!!! So many different choices and creations. I’ve been baking “ New York Cheesecake “and brownies for years but this cheesecake is the creamiest! As an extra bonus… the owner is friendly, good looking, knowledgeable and deserves 5 stars for maintaining this successful business. Overall, fantastic!!!

The Bakery is one of my favorite places in Locarno, in the period that I lived there I found in the guys who work there people with whom I could spend carefree evenings, have a laugh and also chat for a long time on a wide range of topics, drawing sometimes even very interesting ideas. The food is excellent, all prepared with great attention to detail and in a totally personalized way. 5 stars because it's worth trying the things they prepare, with very fresh, top quality meat and refined ingredients, but also 5 stars in the face of all those who gave 1 because they didn't understand the spirit of the place. A must-visit, unique place in Locarno amid all the same old tourist-trap Italian restaurants. The Buffalo chicken sandwich is amazing and it’s the only place in Locarno to have a real proper burger. Bagels also taste like a real American bagel. Owner is super friendly and really cares about the quality of the food there. Definitely worth a visit.

Totally disappointing experience. The owner, fully aware of the gesture, made us pay 7 francs more than necessary by adding an unsolicited and never seen drink to the bill. Furthermore, the sandwiches that made us pay too much, make a big scene but in the end they are the tasty ones, the pulled pork seems more like gruel than pulled pork. The bread is chewy and almost looks old. The prices are honest for what they offer, but the owner is dishonest and profiteering. One star instead of zero because they are also open on Sundays, even if with only one person at the service, who took more than 40 minutes to prepare the sandwiches.

The big burger bagel did not satisfy me, it was not cooked rare as requested, it sticks a lot to the paper it is wrapped in and in terms of taste it is nothing unmissable. Upon suggestion, I let myself be enticed and also take the baked potatoes: after having explained the available condiments to me and having chosen for a simple ketchup and mayonnaise, I was annoyed to be told "all this mess for a ketchup and mayonnaise?"... Not much professional!

Good, an alternative to the usual coffee!

Alas disappointing. Leaving aside the fact that in the midst of the pandemic we were served our takeaway without a mask, the cheesecake was frozen and practically inedible. The coffee was lukewarm instead. I'm sorry to leave a negative review, but I lived in North America for some time and honestly from my albeit small experience at your place (which I won't repeat) the only "American" thing I found was the negligence towards the measures anti-Covid. One star for me, the other 49 remain on the flag.

Just finished eating now! First time ordering food from the American Bakery, really a bomb. Fast and efficient service, friendly and approachable! They said 30 minutes and within 30 minutes they were at my house with a bunch of stuff! Pulled pork, hot dog, BLT Sandwich, cheesecake brownie and cinnamon roll. A BOMB! From today they have one more regular customer!

I've ordered everything and have never found a flaw. It's all delicious, a real gem in the old city! The sweets (even lactose free), the savory (mmmm the burgers), the frappuccinos, the coffee, the non-alcoholic cocktails... all too good. Innovative, young, professional. Keep it up!
