APOTHECA CAFE & BAR in Lac de Neuchâtel (NE)

Slow, chaotic and inattentive service. After ordering a coffee with vegetable milk because of severe lactose intolerance, then asking again when it was served if the coffee is with vegetable milk, my friend notices after a few sips that his coffee is made from cow's milk. Emergency return home to spend the entire afternoon in bed and having to cancel the entire planned weekend.

As always, we enjoy ourselves, the products are fresh and local, the menu changes depending on the week. the restaurant is welcoming, warm and the staff are attentive For those with a sweet tooth, their cookies are excellent

One of the best coffies in Neuchatel. Service is great. Food is delicious. I wish though that the portion of avocado toast would be a little bigger so as they would give one more pitas for Hummus. One pitas is really not enough. Also off the record, it could be great if owner could make a small lounge zone with couches. For people who come to relax and have a drink. Overall I have a positive feedback and I recommend to visit this Cafe

Often crowded, prices a little high for the quality... absurd service, slow as possible... for 3 caffeinated drinks and a cookie (already ready) minimum 40 minutes wait 💀 In addition, no payment by card... supposedly to get out of the "system", I remind you that they are obliged to keep accounts and have cash, which is often deposited in the bank.... therefore a compe 😶

It is a spacious café that offers high quality brunches. Although the prices may seem high, I think they are completely justified when you consider the location of the establishment and the quality of the drinks and food items it offers. The place is particularly pleasant in summer and offers a very peaceful environment in winter, ideal for working or simply spending time with friends.

They have a good variety of coffee to choose from here, including matcha latte. I wasn't a big fan of their matcha though. There's a also a brunch menu with a decent amount of choice.

We came here 2 days in a row , first by accident, for coffee / drink, then to taste their brunch. First, the staff is some of the loveliest in French Suisse. The coffee cup is * huge* and the coffee strong. The kombucha they sell is actually nice (never a given). For brunch you absolutely need to reserve. We didn’t and had to stay outside as inside was full. The avo toast, cooked courges and hummus are all delicious. Staying outside would have been more possible if blankets were provided but when it started drizzling the staff even opened the parasols even if wind sometimes topples them - great service all round. On a Sunday afternoon this is a high quality modern cafe; you’ll be pained to find another one like that open on a Sunday afternoon. Make sure to visit when in Neuchatel.

I wanted to book but the site indicated that it was not possible that day. However, when we arrived, all the tables were reserved... On another occasion, I called to reserve, they took my reservation, and we were greeted aggressively saying that it was not possible because they did not take no reservations about that day, to the limit of accusing me of lying. They called me back to apologize. In conclusion, quite unpleasant exchanges.

Probably one of the worst restaurants in Neuchâtel. Too expensive for what it is, no culinary research, these are dishes that I cook at home in two minutes flat (fried egg, crushed avocado on bread, decoration of dried flowers from the Coop, etc.). And the service is lousy, it seems like you don't like people.

It is a nice place to have brunch on the weekend. The food is good, tasty and they have nice vegetarian option. However the service is rather slow, we had to ask twice for our food.

So it's very simple, we charge you 4.10.- chf for a coffee served in a water glass (this is the first time in my life) and you cannot pay with a bank card in 2023 certainly for the reason that everyone knows. So, you have to waste your time running to a ATM!

The service is EXTREMELY slow. You can wait up to 30 minutes for an espresso. The coffee is pretty good. Unfortunately the prices are excessive, especially for the food. Furthermore, the service is rather unpleasant. They try to sell us a rather offbeat and welcoming atmosphere, while we are greeted in a pretentious way. One day we arrived at 1:30 p.m. for coffee and were told to leave (without even a hello), telling us that only people wanting to eat could be seated at that time. The place was half empty though... On this Mother’s Day, what a disappointment for this “brunch” Endless waiting time, 20 minutes to order, our drinks arrived after 40 minutes and 2 out of 5 were wrong and after another 25 minutes of waiting to finally receive our “toasts”. Totally overpriced prices when you see the contents of the plate! No research, tasteless products, the place wants to be original but has absolutely no soul! In short, except if you want to wait for ages to be served and eat common dishes, run away! And it’s not the antipathy of the waitress that will make you go back! This is the second time in my life that I haven't left a tip, but this time it was impossible to leave anything! I am from Neuchâtel and I had already had several bad experiences at the Apotheca, but this time it was the last time that's for sure! The service is painful, already they only have cash payment options (so they should announce it or warn with signs), plus the waiters are really unpleasant!! I was there with family. The waitress took care of us after a little delay. The brunch was very good, nothing to say about that. However, the service was very fast and cold, our drinks and our brunch were almost thrown on the table. After eating, the waitress came to our table, so we told her we were going to pay. In a polite way. However, she took the liberty of saying to us, “Ah, thank you, I’m fine with you leaving.” Not having understood, we asked her again after paying, she repeated that she wanted us to leave because she thought we were taking too long. In short, some advice, this is a “restaurant” to avoid. No matter what day it is, your job is certainly not easy, but you don't have to throw people out, especially when they are friendly to you and pay the price. price with tip.

The location and food are quite good, you get the city vibe specifically on Saturday with the local market and the available menu is well diversified - with some restrictions in the preparation depending on the time of the day - due to the lack of personal I believe. The major downside is the service, specially the owner or the main partner; this lady is just, plain and simple, rude and takes the whole experience completely down.

Very well located café, offering a gourmet and quality menu with mainly organic products. I tasted a colorful and sparkling avocado toast, both in the mouth and on the plate. The service is natural and pleasant. An address that is worth the detour to relax and enjoy any moment of your day in Neuchâtel :) I particularly recommend the smoothie of the moment served until 2 p.m.

Very nice place with a nice terrace which is pleasant in summer. The cookies are delicious, the coffees are good and the syrups too. Sometimes the service is a little slow (or maybe people don't see us?), but the employees are friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. Inside, a little noisy but still OK for a drink 😊

Very nice coffee and good menu with quality products. Too bad the service is not up to par. No one speaks to us when we enter the café, then it takes more than a quarter of an hour before asking us what we want to drink, then we waited an hour for two avocado toasts without eggs.

This is my favorite place to go to in Neuchâtel. Their menu changes every week and they always use fresh, mostly organic ingredients. Also it's a nice spot where you can sit either inside where you feel like you're in mykonos or outside on the terrace. I recommend.

We stopped by at this pure food place for a coffee. The service was om but the coffee came without milk and the taste was not great. We will go the next time to a real coffee shop for our coffee

Delicious ! There are plenty of classic brunch dishes but they bring their signature, so they are dishes with unique and very successful tastes! The matcha latte is very good and that's rare! I highly recommend :)

Cafe with a nice atmosphere seen from the outside and quality fresh produce... but the menu is really light and the service is deplorable. After waiting 15 minutes (it's not an expression, we really started counting after a while) without anyone giving us a glance, a waitress deigned to ask us what we wanted... for come back 1 minute later because the order had been forgotten (a smoothie, a matcha latte with almond milk and two advocado toasts..) only to make a mistake. When we ask another waitress if it's really almond milk, her answer is evasive: it seems yes, but I'll check. We are still waiting for our response (even if in fact I know the difference between cow's milk and vegetable milk, it doesn't have the same taste or the same texture, our request was just a polite formula to tell them that they were wrong). In short, too bad, move on.

Yesterday Sunday, my friend and I approached a table on the terrace to look at the menu. It’s 6:45 p.m. We sit and wait. 2 young women are talking at another table, one looks in our direction several times. Then she gets up, comes to us and tells us that the restaurant closes at 7 p.m.! (I imagine it's the waitress. So "good evening" isn't even required). Why didn't she say anything when we were standing looking at the menu before we take our seats, take off our jackets and wait 5 minutes for nothing?

cute fashionable cafe, nice to have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine (my almond capuccino was fine, thought the foam not dense enough), but there's absolutely nothing else. all they had for food was cookies, croissants and a small avotoast (with bread so toasted I couldn't cut it). also, super slow service. I thought it is a very new project in formation, but I can see here some reviews from months ago.. cannot understand the high ratings
