La Table de Palafitte in Lac de Neuchâtel (NE)

My boyfriend and his family used to come and have brunch at the palafitte because we always found the setting and the food great. So I wanted to introduce the experience to two of my friends this Sunday. I admit that I left very disappointed, both in terms of the choice of food and the price… 95fr for a brunch with such a limited choice surprised me enormously. For an additional 10fr, we can have an incredible experience at the Montreux Palace for example with an extremely wide choice of dishes. I'm not in the habit of giving negative feedback or negative comments on Google but I don't think we'll come back and I don't think I'll recommend such an expensive brunch with such a poor choice around me.

Only happiness. Very warm staff and cuisine that will not leave you indifferent.

The restaurant servers were cold and pretentious. We didn't feel welcome. We were placed “at the bar”, even though we under no circumstances wanted to stay there and order something to snack on (we wanted to go to the main room but it was refused!)… We asked him what that there was dessert and the waiter told us: “it will go quickly, there is (we didn't understand anything)…, and for ice cream, there is a range”. This “welcome” pushed us to leave and for the price we pay and the reputation of the hotel, it is a total aberration to do this.

We had lunch here with a group of friends. The setting is certainly beautiful, with the view of the lake. The staff, extremely friendly and professional, however seemed a little disoriented, perhaps because, at that time, the restaurant was quite full. The food presented well and was very good, but some received chicken that was not well cooked inside and some received dessert with moldy raspberries. This is my fourth visit to Table du Palafitte! Today I participated in the Sunday buffet dinner. Our disappointment is great because we were expecting something great given what the staff had told us about it. I'll start with the service that didn't suit us! Lack of discretion and professionalism on several levels! Waiters who make fun of their colleagues in front of customers and other aberrations not in good taste for a 5 star. Discussion of the kitchen so heated that it even reaches the terrace.... The brunch meal is below the quality you can expect for 95.- (excluding drinks)! I expected more culinary creativity and less standard stuff. The only hot meat offered was pork...still pink in the middle.... At the end when you pay 360.- for 3.... it stings a bit! Too bad because it was an event for us to come to this magical place. The quality of the service and the buffet offering, in my opinion, needs to be reviewed so that it lives up to this sumptuous place, the price, as well as the 5-star level of the hotel.

This hotel is what I call the Maldives resort in Switzerland. Really beautiful setting especially when you can dive into the water during summer. The best way to arrive is of course by ship. The new "52" lunch offered at the Table of Palafitte is not only brilliant, it is absolutely awsome! After quite a long journey made of ups and downs these last years, cuisine and service finally reached a level close to perfection. In this regard, the business menu priced at CHF 52.- and served within 52 minutes is certainly the best possible choice far around and a real USP. Thanks to the Palafitte, Neuchâtel eventually rivals Bern, Zurich, Lausanne or Geneva in terms of hospitality and also cuisine. If you are around, give it a try, you gonna love it.

The location by the lake is beautiful. The restaurant is architecturally a feast for the eyes. Prices are quite high for this region. But: For this price category, as a client you can expect a white fabric tablecloth on the gray table top and first-class and extremely attentive service outside - at least on a Sunday - on the terrace. Neither was the case. The knife and fork were placed on the table sometimes from the right, sometimes from the left and not at all parallel but mostly slightly crooked or shifted, just like in a normal garden restaurant. When the glass was almost empty, the service people usually missed it; i.e. lack of attention or lack of observation of the guest tables. They were polite, though. You immediately notice that the staff, mostly foreigners (nothing against them), are not well trained for an establishment in this price category. It doesn't have to be training in Lausanne or Montreux-Glion at the hotel management schools there. Disappointed, not the experience that I had expected. The first dish had meat that was difficult to cut through (had to leave some of it). Equally the fennel was seasoned in something that gave it a sub par taste. The second dish was okay, however, the ravioli were slightly dry. The 3rd and 4th dish were very nice and were a redeeming factor, however, to even get 1 dish so wrong is bad. The last dish was the cheese dish, I personally do not like the fact that we could not choose the cheese. Also the cheeses on the dish were cut with the same knife. Which in itself is fine but they were not cut in the right order which means some of the soft cheese had mixed with the hard cheeses. The deserts were quite good. The place is hellishly loud and they need to find a way to make the place more silent. One of the forks that we got was bent, which should not be happening at this level. 3 stars is generous and could be given 1 or 2 for this poor effort. I hope they improve next time.

We couldnt be bothered either to wait any longer than 30 mins to order a desssert sitting in front of our empty main course plates. But still payed a fortune. Prices absolutely not in line with what you get. We won’t come back, but are happy the F&B manager apologized at least and hopefully took his learnings from this.

Wir bestellten eine Vorspeise und einen Hauptgang (den Apero genossen wir bereits vorher in unserem Pavillon), dazu eine gute Flasche Wein. Noch bevor wir mit der Vorspeise zu Ende waren kam der Kellner und brachte ein neues Besteck für den Hauptgang. Erstaunt darüber baten wir um eine kleine Pause, schliesslich wollten wir ja das Essen und den Abend genießen. Obwohl vom Kellner zur Kenntnis genommen und bestätigt tauchte nicht eine Minute später eine Kellnerin mit dem Hauptgang auf! Leider klappte es nicht mit der Kommunikation! In nicht ganz 45 Minuten war unser gemütliches Abendessen vorbei. Schlimmer als in einem Fast Food Restaurant! Und dann durften wir noch gemütlich den Rest der Flasche Wein genießen

Tous de très bonnes qualités, mais plus sur la façon de les apprêter et de les présenter. Nous y avons dégusté une SALADE D’HIVER aux Filets de perche fumés, et croquants, betteraves au raifort. Une présentation extrêmement simple, un peu comme à la maison... sans véritable souhait de faire beau. Nous avons poursuivi notre repas par l' ŒUF FERMIER PARFAIT DE LA GRUYÈRE, fondue de poireaux en émulsion à la truffe noire. Œuf un peu trop cuit puis SAINT-JACQUES D’ERQUY juste snackées, au topinambour et pleurote. La aussi des St-Jacques trop cuites et non juste snackées. En plat principal tant le pavé de veau du pays que le suprême de poularde étaient tout deux bien métrisés par contre cela manquait un peu de chaleur. Pour finir avec les desserts, la mousse au chocolat grand cru, n'avait de grand cru que le nom ils nous semblent. Par contre la tarte d'orange sanguine était bonne. Donc une déception. Je m'attendais à mieux de ce jeune chef. Il y a un manque de folie dans la présentation, des cuissons pas toujours métrisées. Au niveau du service, rien à redire. Le personnel est très sympathique et compétent. Je trouve que l'écrin du Palafitte mériterait un cuisine un peu plus de haut vol. Gageons qu'il s'agissait d'une exception et que le contexte actuel n'aide pas.

Le restaurant n'est pas à la hauteur de l'hôtel et c'est surprenant, presque un peu décevant. Le service est agréable, efficace et on le devine souriant derrière le masque. Mis à part le chariot de desserts qui est une bonne idée, la carte ne fait pas spécialement saliver. Ce fût bon et bien servi. Une carte des vins très correct et abordable. Un bon moment qui n'a toutefois pas comblé des attentes que nous avions certainement trop grandes.
