Appaloosa in Spiez

I came here to be in a good atmosphere, which was great as reviews suggested, quiet relaxing music, and smiling personnel. I was surprised to see gluten-free options and I decided to try, however they still bring bread to the table, I even had two bread sticks in my gluten-free salad. It was somewhat predictable, most restaurants don’t know what gluten-free means (simply put it’s: no bread).

The ambience was very nice and, with the slightly dimmed lights, very homely. It wasn't too loud, even though the restaurant was pretty full that night. We easily lasted 3 hours at the high tables on the stools with backrests. Our fajitas were delicious and really good. It was a bit of a shame that we had to pay extra for a second helping of sauces, corn, salad and cheese.

Simply a great team and great service, we would love to come back.

I haven't been there for a long time, but it's pretty good, but making phone calls doesn't always work, so I think a 4 is appropriate. I used to eat there a lot as a child because me and my parents lived nearby .🤠🥣

It's a shame that all tables are always marked reserved. We couldn't eat because there didn't seem to be any free tables left. The only strange thing was that the same tables weren't occupied 2 hours later.

Many details in the decoration offer a beautiful ambience. The food was great. The sauces were tasteful and the citizen's bun was perfect.

The food is delicious, you won't go hungry because the dishes have a large quantity and the price is quite affordable; good music, good atmosphere and good service, my son, my husband and I give it a 10. We will repeat without a doubt.

Veggie offering a bit meager. Vegan burger too spicy for my taste. Ambiance 10/10 Service: Nice staff. A bit expensive. A vegan burger costs 26 CHF without a side dish. We had a coupe iced coffee. The menu lists it as containing alcohol. We took the coupe without alcohol and still paid 12 CHF. We also asked for ketchup with the onion rings and were given a small bowl (which wasn't enough) and were charged 1 CHF for it. I'm not stingy at all but I find it a bit disappointing. Dessert, however, was very, very tasty. Taste wise 9/10 and also beautifully presented (not like the main courses.

The beef tartare is simply excellent. A must if you eat at Appaloosa. I can only recommend! The service was also very attentive and humorous.

The place was slammed packed and they helped is out and still sat us down. Very good staff and the food was very good.

The reception was very friendly. The service was very attentive and warm. Each of us three visitors enjoyed the food very much. Everything was served as it was ordered. A big compliment to the kitchen. It was nice to “observe” how all the service and kitchen employees worked together as a team. You don't see that everywhere anymore today. This Texas-themed restaurant does a great job capturing the basic flavors of American Tex-Mex cuisine. I dined here with some European colleagues, and the speed of service and quality of food, and tasty drinks helped make sure we all had a great experience dining together.

The service and atmosphere made me almost feel like I was in Texas again, until you see the prices and realize that you're still in Switzerland. If you're from the States and looking to break up the somewhat repetitive go-to meals in Switzerland, then I'd recommend it. The Sheriff's Platter was nice because it offered a variety of things. It was plenty filling and particular shout outs go to the steak, jumbo shrimp, and potatoes. The chicken burrito was just not what you'd expect (maybe the sauce?), but not bad. The ribs on the other hand, take your expectations and lower them, then do it again. They just lacked any real flavor, so we ended up rubbing the potatoes against them to give them some spice. All in all, I'd recommend it to others, but just don't go in thinking you're gonna be paying El Paso prices and getting Austin flavors.

We (2 adults, 1 teenager) spontaneously passed through Spiez to Appaloosa at the beginning of October 2023 because I have always wanted to go there. Everything was great: the staff were very friendly and quick, the food was warm and delicious, the atmosphere was cool, western-like. Everything was wonderful, I would love to eat there again. So my recommendation is safe! Ok, the prices aren't exactly cheap, but if you assume that a lot of things are bought locally and the staff are in a good mood, then you're happy to pay a few francs more. Again any time!

Exceptional dishes and setting! Unfortunately, the service was a little long when we came as a group of 6 on a Sunday at noon.

We came from far away to find this beautifully decorated restaurant! But very disappointed to have to pay 5 Frs for the carafe of water when we had already consumed 2 non-alcoholic cocktails (Frs 20.-) and a beer (Frs 6.50). I would have understood that we were charged for water if we hadn't had other drinks...

Very nicely done Texmex bar. Fine food, good ambience for a night out dinner, good selection of drinks, friendly staff. Almost always open. Online booking didn't work for me, I had to try calling a few times before I got through. Otherwise really tip top.

Super tasty fajitas and cocktails. Gluten-free wasn't a problem here either. The entire staff is very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere and the large terrace are very cozy. The journey of over 1 hour was worth it, I would happily do it again.😊

Just wow!!! Everything was on point - the food, the atmosphere, the service. Firstly, the staff here is so kind and helpful. Always smile and give us the warm feeling !! Secondly, the food was great!! The ultimate nacho was so so good - it is tasty with many flavour including sour, spicy, sale , i loved it. Rib eye also good but it will be even better if it come with the bbq sauce . Lastly, the place was cozy and warm. We are so happy to be here and recommended also to come to this wonderful place.

Today there were three of us, or 3 and a quarter, there to eat. Everything really worked out wonderfully! From the stylish furnishings to the very friendly service and the fabulous dishes. We were lucky to get a spot even without a reservation. We ordered the chef's platter for 2 people and the chilli con carne. It was really plentiful and we really enjoyed it. I can uncompromisingly recommend the Appaloosa Saloon. We'd love to come back! Everything was tip top!!!

The food is good, the portions are biiiig, the service is great and the bathrooms clean. The atmosphere is really wonderful. Always almost full so i recommend making a reservation before going. Also, i love that they are pet friendly. Only 4stars for the food because most of them are spicy and you have to mention if you don't want them like that.

On a weekday +30 minutes for drinks and 80 minutes for food at moderate capacity, you can still get some inspiration from the US model. Drinks are good, the food is Swiss-TexMex average and the portions are very large. Cool atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The high tables are not recommended (too small/uncomfortable).

Worst burger ever and for 29.- with fries!

For a bar there is a good selection of food and nicely presented. Unfortunately the burger meat was very firm (on the grill too long?). Service is very friendly and the ambience is great. You almost feel like you're in the Wild West.

My first visit and I think they did a good job. The next time you visit it can be a large piece of meat with lots of salad and the house dressing sauce...it's really something 😛

The food was great, and they also have a good amount of gluten free dishes you can order, the salad came with gluten free freshly baked bread! That was absolute surprise and made the whole experience better. For my taste the service was a bit on the slower side, but definitely very friendly and competent. Great food, would order again.
