A store with a role model function! Saving food is a great concept and deserves more attention. The staff is super friendly. As a group of four, we bought small snacks and were pleasantly surprised. There is a good selection with various baked goods, salads and drinks of all kinds. For Berliners like me, prices in the big tourist bars in Switzerland are clearly difficult to bear. Especially for tour travelers like us. Therefore an insider tip for me. We had very tasty quiche and salads. We also took three different breads with us. Great value for money. If you walk across the street you are right next to the water and can enjoy your meal on one of the benches with a view of the water. Clear recommendation!!!

Very good concept against food waste. Here you can get baked goods from the previous day at half price. Actually, all of Lucerne's major bakeries supply the Äss-Bar. There should be many more stores and concepts like this. The nice thing is that every visit is a surprise about what it has to offer.

I really love their concept, the open atmosphere and of course the overall idea to combat food waste. At Äss-bar they sell perfectly good food from the day before at half its price, sourced directly from local shops and bakeries. You can pay either cash or by card and you can drink water for free. Äss-bar offers a huge variety of sandwiches, brötli, salads, bread, quiches, joghurts and delicious pastry and whole handmade cakes. Of course you can also have a coffee to go. Give it a try :)

Don't be scared off by the name, which actually means edible. Run by a very friendly staff, this affordable bakery fights food waste by recovering day-old pastries and sandwiches from around the area and sells them at lower costs. They have a good variety of options and they still taste quite fresh!

Once an Äss Bar, always an Äss Bar! Everything is there to satisfy small and large hungers and to quench your thirst. Tip, the schnäller is de gschwinder :) great demand so don't wait and do something good about food waste.

The idea behind it is great, as is the location and the staff. What I don't understand is the price of the goods. A roll costs more than fresh from the bakery. So the incentive isn't quite there for me.
