Au Canard Pékinois in Lausanne

The two of us wanted to enjoy lunch at this restaurant today. On the recommendation of the waiter, we ordered the daily special. The mineral water was brought to us straight away and then nothing more. Not even after asking several times! After an hour of waiting for a glass of water, we left the restaurant. We are very disappointed.

Excellent food and efficient staff. Not very groovy or cool place, go there for more fancy family diner. A bit expensive but totally worth it.

Went to eat for a milestone birthday with 5 people. The kitchen was his great interest and above all we waited a long time for the various services. Considering the prices which are very expensive for the dishes served. Very but really very disappointed. We won't be coming back, that's for sure. Damage.

Atmosphere and decoration faithfully reflecting the experience of a restaurant in China. Decent service. On the other hand, a certain disappointment with the dishes. Eggplants perfectly cooked, tender, however their sauce leaned too heavily towards vinegar. The Peking duck, for which I had specially come as I am a big fan of the dish, was very average. Correct sauce and pancakes, on the other hand the duck, whether its meat or its skin, were very far from what one would expect from a Pekingese duck, namely crispy skin combined with a thin layer of fat, and a little juicier meat. To end on a positive note, the tea was excellent, very fragrant.

We were very surprised by this restaurant. Well received and seated straight away (we had reservations). We received our drinks, soup and starters and everything was very good and served quite quickly. Afterwards we waited 50 minutes for the duck. I think they had forgotten us. After I asked the waiter twice the duck arrived. The table next to us who arrived 45 minutes after us received their duck 5 minutes after us. Finally the duck was really good! Very simple pineapple for dessert (we ordered the Peking duck menu). I think the delay in the duck bill was a problem that could happen but I think the waiter could have apologized. Finally. We will try again another time because the menu looks great. And the tea menu looks incredible.

We were at Canard Pekinois for the second time and we appreciated the cuisine, the service and the environment. The Peking duck is really good and well made. Prices are slightly above average. Recommended if you want to try quality Chinese cuisine.

The dishes are good (no more) and the decor is pretty, even if it's a little old (the transparent bridge with the cois is not transparent), but the table service is very, very long. In addition, we had a waitress who was not very friendly and who put the dishes down roughly. For the price, the service is not up to par at all.

Looking at the name of the restaurant, I thought it was Beijing cuisine, but when I arrived and looked at the menu, I realized it was Cantonese cuisine. Every piece of the roasted duck had crispy skin when it was first served. The fried pork ribs with salt and pepper garlic sauce were soft and not greasy. The stir-fried beef river was a little lumpy but had the flavor of the pot. The chrysanthemum tea is delicious, and the fifteen moon dessert is so delicious. The service is very attentive and always takes the initiative to add water to the tea. The environment is very good. The wooden carved screens, carved cabinets and koi fish pond are very refreshing as soon as you enter. Be sure to book in advance, it's almost fully booked for dinner on a Friday.

Excellent restaurant. Definitely worth a visit

Quite simply the best Chinese restaurant in the region and has been for years (I've been going there for over 6 years). The welcome is always perfect, the waiters and waitresses have always been the same for years and are very welcoming. Not to mention the cuisine and the homemade label, simply incredible. Don't be afraid because the entire menu is worth tasting at all costs.

An unmissable place, fine and tasty cuisine with fresh products which is very appreciable. We had a wonderful time, Paolo at the service was very friendly and professional. They made me a vegetarian dish that wasn't on the menu, sweet and sour tofu!! Exceptional!!! I highly recommend 🙏🏾

We go there often, always good quality but a bit expensive. The bosses are very nice.

Order placed by uber eats. Worst crispy beef of my life. The latter had zero% meat and looked more like pork rinds. Small pieces of fat simply fried without any fiber. The noodles are greasy to the point that you could fry an egg in a frying pan with the leftovers. Portions are poor for the prices and type of cuisine of the restaurant.

Going here for lunch during trip in August was a definite highlight! Only place that you can get the delicious duck dumplings. I will go back on my next trip.

Flawless; friendly and attentive service, refined cuisine...

Au canard pekinois is one of the best Chinese restaurant in Lausanne!! We often go for Poulet basilique (delicious) or pork ribs (amazing) and the eggplant (mijoté d’aubergine). So far we’ve also tasted the fried shrimps, the duck laqué (awessssommme), the duck not laqué 🤣, the rouleaux de printemps, the brochettes, the “raviolis vapeur” and the boeuf croustillant and each time there is nothing to say when it comes to either the portion or the taste. This time, we also had the chinese red wine and it was surprisingly very very tasty! Not too strong, not too sweet, really good wine to taste! Price wise, if you ever were in China you’ll feel that the prices in the restaurant are expensive but compared to other restaurant in Lausanne the price/quality is definitely there so its worth it!

Menus of a taste rarely equaled in Lausanne

Good traditional Chinese cuisine with the Hong Kong demonstration menu, Chinese rosé wine with a very slight aftertaste of cork but drinkable, miserable dessert for such a menu with a few slices of fruit and nothing more! I had warned that it was for our 40th wedding anniversary and I was expecting a small symbolic gesture of sympathy but….nothing! Too bad, I'm a little disappointed especially when comparing with all my previous experiences. On the other hand, the staff were very cheerful and friendly, which alleviated my relative disappointment.

Correct, but not transcendent. Quiet and well centered, it is however a good option for a business meal in the city.

It's been almost 20 years since I ate there. Well it’s still just as good! The setting has a wonderful Asian atmosphere and top-notch cuisine. Service a little long but there were people and personally, I wasn't seated well.

Authentic cuisine and quality service

I had a stomach ache afterwards but I don't know if it was due to the Peking Duck or something else because the other guests at my table had nothing and there were 11 of us.

The waiters were super friendly, the manager was super adorable, the food was a treat (I didn't take a photo - too hungry🙈). The slight downside is that it took a little long, we went there on a Friday evening, that perhaps explains it... and the hunger too. Anyway, I recommend it, I haven't been disappointed.

Very good one-on-one meal. We reserved a table for 2 on a Saturday evening at 8 p.m. We ate menu B. Everything was very tasty. Our table was quiet not far from the window through which we can see the chef cooking.

I consider myself a fairly flexible and fairly easily satisfied person and not very demanding. I've been to a lot of restaurants in my life... and yet I can definitely say that this was the worst experience of my life. I regretted every franc spent there. Terrible service we had to wait 1 hour before being served... oh yes with several reminders of our order... I had the Pekingese duck which is supposed to be the signature dish of the restaurant... I have never tasted such a dry duck... I think the duck died for nothing... I'm not forgetting the dessert served in a tub of ice like at the fishmonger… it was a very impoverishing journey…

Service was very very slow. We had to wait 1 1/2 hours for main dishes to arrive and they even arrived asynchronously so we didn’t eat together. Tofu dishes were quite good but too high price for the quality. Part of our company, one ordered the duck (53 chf) and it arrived completely dry with some sort of rice confetti underneath that you’re not even supposed to eat. The desert with litchi and ice cream also a big disappointment. Won’t return

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The service was terrible, the dishes were disgusting, the restaurant was old and not updated for at least 27 years, and the quality of the food was poor with lots of added sugar. The staff did not speak our language and were unwilling to resolve problems. Despite this, I had to pay the full amount without any discount. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Crowded, not good, slow service, steep bill for what it is

Nice setting, too bad the rest doesn't follow. Endless waiting as well as the quality and hygiene of the dishes left something to be desired. Although the taste wasn't that bad, I recommend it if you're going to waste your money.

The waiters are very friendly, but our table was forgotten and even my daughter ran all over the restaurant hoping to catch a waiter to get new drinks and even another order. Otherwise, I had said that it was my birthday when reserving the table and I have been a customer for around 32 years and nothing, not a single attention. Even if I haven't been able to come for the last 2 years, still a good customer. But, the food is always excellent, so come and eat at their place

I have nothing to say about the quality and taste of the food which is just excellent despite the quantity in relation to the price, but on the other hand the service? A waitress who speaks with an aggressive tone, who cuts you off, I was served twice by this lady and both times I was very uncomfortable.

Very very disappointed, disaster from the start. We order a carafe of water, therefore still, after an alcoholic aperitif, they open us a sparkling water. Food is no longer what it was before Covid. Deplorable service. I won't come back there again since I sold the class of this place to a friend. And finally, it's rare that I only give one star.

A trip to China through the dining room

The dishes are really very good but when you pay that price, you hope to eat within 2 hours.... very very slow service... order placed at 7:40 p.m. and main course received at 10 p.m.

It's really very good but avoid it on Saturday evening, it's packed. We had to wait 1 hour to receive the entries!!! It's too much, much too much.

We booked for a group before arriving and we were asked to give our menus the day before... Arrived at 8 p.m., our dishes arrived at... 10:15 p.m.. More than questionable quantities for completely crazy prices 60CHF for 8 small slices of duck and a beer...

Incredible restaurant to recommend without any hesitation! The decor is magnificent, typically Chinese and made with great care and attention to detail, the waiters are very friendly, attentive to the slightest needs and very accommodating. We were also enchanted by the dishes: simply exquisite! A journey for the taste buds, a certain change of scenery for a European, a real symphony for the palate. We unreservedly recommend the duck with apricot sauce and the chicken with basil, succulent! The tea, too, is fantastic. Very melodious, served in a very small Chinese cup and refilled with hot water throughout the meal, tasting it alone is already worth it. This address is now among our favorites, we had a great evening there! His reputation is well deserved. Hats off to the work, everything was remarkable from start to finish.

Great ambiance, really takes you inside and the servers are very polite. However, service is very slow, food is relatively expensive for small quantities and taste is mediocre. For this price, I would expect better tasting food. You are essentially paying for the atmosphere. I would say 3.5 starts out of 5 rounded down.

The food was excellent, it tasted good. I really like the orange beef and this mixed vegetable really suits my Chinese taste. The service staff was very warm and the dessert châtaigne was delicious. It's nice to come here with friends on a day that's not too busy.
