Bären in Zug

Good food and good service. The restaurant itself could definitely be renovated.

Visited the Bären twice for dinner with work colleagues within one month. Both times quite satisfied with this typical Swiss 'Beiz', i.e. a restaurant without much pretentiousness, serving hearty food in a convivial atmosphere. The dishes were well prepared, rather on the heavy side and mostly for meat or cheese eaters. Service was reserved but efficient. Be ready to put your clothes for washing after a visit, since one of the specialties is entrecôte on a hot stone,and another is the cheese fondue. Parking is available nearby in the Laubehof, under the post office. And the Bären is next to the train station.

Good home-style food, prices for trains very reasonable, service could be faster. It gets very loud when it's full.

Very friendly restaurant and contrast on an international train. Oktoberfest was entertaining. We were easily seated at the regulars' table with our German guests instead of being "fully booked". Food was great. The "cold" white sausages were immediately replaced after complaints. Bravo. keep it up.

Lovely Swiss restaurant. Good selection of classic food. I went with the schnitzel which was huge and delicious ( see picture). Cold beers and a nice dining room. Good prices. Friendly staff. No air conditioning.

Home cooking. Still in the old style of the 80s. Gently renovated. Memories of the time after the apprenticeship were awakened.

Very fine food. The portions are perhaps a bit too large. Good service. The appearance from the outside is not very inviting. So you might be a little surprised at how good the food is.

5 stars for the theme weeks such as Metzgete. It is completely redecorated, although one could argue about taste. The food is actually above average and the price is more than fair. The location is ideal and the staff is very friendly. A touch more modern (toilet, counter, chairs) for the legendary 6th star. The Covid measures are integrated into the process unobtrusively and without defects. Perfect

This is definitely a restaurant on my „to do“ list after I heard the story!Restaurant „Bären“ meaning grizzly (not Baren) is a quite iconic institution in Zug. It is said that around 1900, when there was no „public transport“ WHATSOEVER! the then host put small cups of liquor on the windowsill so the regional manufacturing workers - after sometimes a more than an hour long commute on foot - ingested a strengthening substance before turning up to work...Up until the owner imposed a smoking ban it was rather renowned as a traditional Swiss „Beiz“ with cigarillo smoking, card playing locals.The latest hosts - and that s where it becomes interesting - were Austrians from Salzburg. Now, you may not know the Austrian cuisine apart from the famous „Wiener Schnitzel“ but from own experience it is a sumptious, very rich and delicious cuisine. Why is it on my „to do“ list? Someone told me their steak is highly recommended and the cook confirmed that they are serving it on a „hot stone“ in different sizes (ladies‘ cut, regular and „Bären cut“ ;-)

Nice restaurant. Good ambience. Friendly atmosphere and friendly, helpful service staff. Short waiting times. Excellent cuisine. Price/performance is totally right. Again any time. Toilets clean and well maintained. Heroes of everyday life. Bravo and keep it up. Highly Recommended. Reservation is an advantage. A nice place to stay. Beef from the hot stone is incredibly tasty and my classic. Cordon bleu is also a house specialty. All-round good care is practically guaranteed. Great wine list. You'll be happy to come back here.

Das Lokal ist wirklich sehr ästhetisch möbliert. Keine cheap Deko, stattdessen es war farblich sehr vieles stark harmonisch auf einander angepasst.Die Auswahl finde ich dicht gefächert und bisher hat alles vollauf genial geschmeckt, was ich für meinen Teil vor mir hingestellt erhalten habe.Aus meiner Sicht ist ein Besuch hier gänzlich zu empfehlen.Super toller und höflicher Service. Ich finde, dass das ganze Lokal Personal dort einen tollen Job gemacht hat.

Mutter und ich waren zu gemeinsam anwesend und jeder von uns hat etwas anderes sich bestellt ich kann sagen, ich habe von jedem eine Prise probiert und es war alles gut.Ich kann dies Lokal sehr empfehlen!Die Dekos auf den Tischen und im gesamten Restaurant ist angemessen und schön. Die WC´s sind konstant rein und allem in allem vermittelt das Lokal einen charmanten Eindruck.Sehr flotter und netter Dienst. Ich finde, dass das gesamte Personal dort einen sehr guten Job gemacht hat.

It was busy when we arrived for supper but we did not have to wait around long for our table. My sister is vegetarian and also loved her meals here, plenty of different vegetarian choices too. The personnel are genuinely wonderful, my sister and I were definitely happy with their advice. Can't go wrong with the good food here and the prices are fair. We totally liked our meal here and would undoubtedly recommend it.

Der Kellner hat hurtig, reinlich und freundlich gearbeitet.Es ist durchgehend fein und wir hatten dort einen schönen Abend.Das Local ist astrein einfach zu erreichen! Die günstige Verkehrsanbindung macht einen Essenstrip flugs möglich.Ich für meinen Teil hätte mich am allerliebsten vor Hunger erst mal durchprobiert, aber dann wäre kein Platz für das einzigartige Futter mehr gewesen.

Wir wurden vom Bären Team zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit bewirtet und die Feier konnte von A-Z so stattfinden wie wir es uns vorgestellt haben. Wir waren zu jedem Zeitpunkt voll im Fahrplan. Hier ein grosses Dankeschön an Thomas und Marlis für die kompetente Abwicklung in der Küche sowie der Organisation.

I love love love love looooooooooove Cordon Bleu here, I am excited every time to eat it! Epic, amazing, great, wonderful, wooooowHowever, the service is very unfriendly, it is one of the few restaurants where you get told off by the waitresses for small things, which I find incredible. But there is nothing that can prevent me from coming to this restaurant for this epic Cordon Bleu.Because of the service they do not really deserve 5 points, but I am sorry, the Cordon Bleu is not just a 5, it is a 6, it exceeds perfect. Therefore, despite horrible service, the place gets a 5 simply because the cordon bleu is so outstanding

Sehr freundliches Personal, authentische Oktoberfestkarte mit traditionellem Augustiner Oktoberfestbier und original Münchner Bretzeln in einer sehr angenehmen Ambiance. Der Kasselerbraten mit Rieslingkraut schmeckte ausgezeichnet, das Augustinerbier einfach ein Genuss.

Das Essen schmeckt sehr gut und es ist für jeden was dabei. Die Preise sind zwar etwas hoch aber man wird satt.

Das Restaurant Bären ist so weit eine solide Wahl. Das Cordon Bleu zumindest ist immer wieder super, das Bier ist gut im Preis und das Lokal ist authentisch dekoriert. Die Bedienung könnte ab und zu ein wenig freundlicher sein (z.B. wie beim Brandenberg), aber sie erfüllt die Aufgabe im Grossen und Ganzen sehr gut.Was schade ist, ist die Reaktion des Managements hier auf Tripadvisor. Wenn Gäste nach einer 1-Sterne-Wertung kritisiert werden, mag das im Einzelfall zwar gerechtfertigt sein. Aber man fragt sich dann zumindest doch ein wenig, wie sonst mit Kritik umgegangen wird. Als Ausgleich könnte man sich auch für die positiven Bewertungen bedanken.

Sono andato per un pranzo di lavoro dopo una conferenza. Porzioni giuste prezzi medio - bassi per essere in Svizzera. Gestione casereccia. Menù con scelta limitata ma piatti gustosi.

Mann sitzt dort sehr gemütlich. Die Preise finde ich etwas hoch. Da ich mich aber nur kurz in Zug aufhielt weiss ich zu wenig über die Preise die in Zug normal sind. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Ich kann dieses Lokal nur weiterempfehlen! Probiert diese tolle Küche, auf der Karte ist in der Regel für jeden etwas dabei. Die Bedienungen sind jedes Mal ungemein sympathisch und überaus verbindlich. Das macht mir bei jedem Besuch richtig viel Freude. Super lecker zusammengefasst. Die Stühle sind sehr bequem und den Abstand zwischen den Tischen finde ich sehr angemessen. Dort bekommt man kein bisschen das Gefühl, wie Fische in der Dose Abend zu speisen.

We stopped here for dinner on our last night 8n Zug and it was truly a localot place. We loved our schnitzel and the portions were generous.

The worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. Completely tasteless, over priced, and terrible service. A pile of unseasoned hash browns with the smallest amount of cheese over it for 28 bucks! Stay away!!

Wie jedes Jahr haben wir unseren jährlichen Vereinsanlass im Bären abgehalten. Der Service war wie immer sehr freundlich, das Essen sehr fein und es hat alles bestens geklappt. Gerne kommen wir nächstes Jahr wieder.

Das Restaurant Bären hat schon Gäste empfangen, als an Stelle des Metalli Einkaufszentrum gegenüber noch eine Metallfabrik stand und die Arbeiter dort ihr Bier am Feierabend zu trinken pflegten. Diese Urambiance wie auch die Holzvertäfelung hat sich erhalten. Die Sandsteinfassade erinnert in Würde an ihr Alter.Kulinarisch bietet der Bären eine währschafte Menukarte. Freunde des Fondue werden ebenso begeistert sein wie Fleischliebhaber. Das Rindfleisch serviert auf heissem Stein und das Bärenpfännli (Schweinsfilet an Champignonsauce) sind ein Geheimtipp. Cordonbleus auf 6 verschiedenen Arten wie auch Wiener Schnitzel gibts von Normal bis XX-Large. Ich kann jede einzelne Speise empfehlen.Fischknusperli, Vegetarische- und Kindermenus sind ebenso erhältlich.Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und reagiert nur bei rüdem oder unfreundlichem Benehmen abweisend.Die Chefin de Service führt das Restaurant mit erfahrener, versierter Hand.Einst gab es viele sogenannte Quartierbeize mit deren ureigener Ambiance.Heute muss man solche Perlen suchen...

Was hard to find a local restaurant in Zug so it has the chance of having almost no competition. Nice local atmosphere without pretending to be posh, the kind i love ! Unfortunately Fondue was just for 2+ persons and no solution for solo travellers, desperate to get their dose of cheese!

Vermeiden Sie einen Besuch wenn sie Käsefondue essen möchten! Der Wirt macht keine Fondues für eine Person! Die Bedienung hat uns sehr unfreundlich zurückgewiesen! Es ist unglaublich dass sich ein Restaurant sich das in der heutigen Zeit noch leisten kann. Kundenservice ist hier andersrum!

Oturup arkadaşlarınızın gelmesini bekliyorsunuz, biri de sizin gibi fondü yemek isterse o zaman sipariş verebilirsiniz.

Super essen. Man kann aber auch nur was trinken gehen, und wird trotzdem nett behandelt. Gutes Preisleistungsverhältnis.

Hier meine Bewertung:1) Obwohl das Restaurant der Gruppe der Hotelbusiness Zug AG angehört, hatten die Verantwortlichen die Gnade, das Restaurant nicht einen Zentimeter zu verändern. Das braucht Mut und Weitsicht. Kleinste Veränderungen hätten das Ambiente zerstören können. Also sieht die Toilette immer noch nach 1983 aus und das Menage mit Maggi und Aromat darf auf dem Tisch nicht fehlen.2) Toller, kerniger, authentischer Service. Auch diese Damen sind seit Jahr und Tag im Bären.3) Das Essen ist klassisch und sehr gut zubereitet!4) Und weil eben nicht geändert wurde sitzen heute alle gemütlich zusammen: Feuermänner, Geschäftsfrauen, Arbeiter, In- und Ausländer, Reiche und weniger Betuchte etc. Einfach wunderbar!4) Die Preise sind für das Gebotene und Zug sehr akkurat.Wir kommen wieder!

Wow. We went to Baren only because it seemed nice in the pictures and we were very hungry after the flights and the long day we had. We were more than satisfied with the dinner we had. First, everyone in the restaurant, from staff to costumers were nice! It was Friday and they're having classic concerts there on Fridays, so that was already a nice experience. We started with the Pea Soup, which I finished before I could take a picture of it! The soup was unbelievable!!! For the main course we had the Cordon Blue and the pork sausage. Both were very good and comforting. I would love to eat there again.

Wir gehen regelmäßig zum B ren für das Rinderfilet auf dem heißen Stein. Wir glauben, dass es sich um hochwertiges Essen zu einem angemessenen Preis handelt. Das B ren Restaurant ist sehr zentral gelegen und der Service ist sehr gut. Sie haben auch viele typische Schweizer Gerichte wie Cordon Bleu, die auch hervorragend sind.

Immer wieder toll im Bären zu den weiss-blauen Wochen. Es gibt jedes mal gute bayrische Spezialitäten wir Krustenbraten, Schweinshaxen, Weisswürste und dazu ein Mass vom Hofbräuhaus Bier. Der Bären liegt zwei Gehminuten vom Bahnhof Zug entfernt. Je nach Eventwoche sollte man für den Abend eine Tisch reservieren da es immer sehr gut besucht ist. Das Personal ist zuvorkommend und man bekommen sein Essen sehr schnell. Gruss Marco Again and again great in the Bären to the white-blue weeks. Every time there are good Bavarian specialities like crusty roast, pork knuckles, white sausages and a measure of Hofbräuhaus beer. The Bären is two minutes' walk from Zug railway station. An diesem Abend war das Oktoberfest und war recht besetzt, wir waren auch früh genug da. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Zum Super Cordon Bleu gönnten wir us ein Weissbier. Wenn wir in Zug sind besuchen wir den Bären gerne wieder.
