Dear guests, my name is Martha Kapela and I am the restaurant manager at the Gasthaus Farm. We always make an effort to be there for our guests, the many positive reviews are enormous proof of this. Our service staff and the kitchen team are set up “per guest”. We always strive to improve the dishes, only use fresh ingredients and prepare each dish ourselves without any aids. The people who come to us are important to us. What is very unfair and causes damage are disloyal service employees. Such employees will be fired immediately. It is time to address the problem openly and to speak up against unfair people. I would also like to make my statement here on behalf of other innkeepers. There are great people in our team; they stand at the stove, at the sink or serve guests every day and do an excellent job. They are collegial and work with each other and all together for the guest. If we acted as accused here, this company would no longer exist. Instead of taking responsibility and learning from their wrongdoing, these people only see one unfair, malicious path. We take every legitimate criticism seriously, take it very seriously and respond to it proportionately. We make mistakes too, but we listen to our guests and see any criticism as an opportunity for improvement. We also tell our guests that. I advise everyone to avoid this place. L-GAV and the police were called in. Ms. MK has been employing black service staff for months. Cheats guests paying for goods from employees tips etc. It's unbelievable but true!!!!!!!!!

Friendly staff, good cuisine and rustic atmosphere.

We came in and were immediately welcomed. We were escorted to the table. Drinks and food came relatively quickly. There are a lot of pictures and decorations to look at. Clean toilet. The food/dessert was fresh. Tasted great. Extremely good cappuccino. Staff worked professionally.

The food was lukewarm (the cheese in the veal cordon bleu had not melted or had solidified again). The staff didn't have a clear overview of who ordered what at which table. We believed we were “victims” of a hidden camera.

Top cuisine, top service, top welcome, top decor, in short, everything is perfect.🌞

Highly Recommended! Not only did we eat fantastically, we were also impressed by the loving, spring-themed decoration, the clock-like ambience and the friendly and always attentive service. A slice of the best apple pie we have ever tasted rounded off our evening and we are determined to come back.

3 coffees, 2 pieces of apple cake and a piece of Black Forest cake for 60.- are unreasonable! Lousy, impersonal, short service. Unfortunately no !

That day the service was overwhelmed. Lots of customers and no staff access. The chef came to the table to ask if we were happy. I really enjoyed it. In the end our credit card was charged twice, the staff was not very attentive.

Update: February 2024: We still love going to Bauernhof. The service and food continue to be great. We've come to know Reto, who has served us a number of times and who has made our visits to Bauernhof a pleasure. We also enjoy that the restaurant has ample parking space. Its also very close to a bus-stop on the Baar/Zug transport route. Its open on Sundays until late. Menu highlights include, the parmesan crusted lamb fillet, the gorgonzola gordon bleu, and their apple cake. Highly recommended! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 November 2023: We love this authentic Swiss restaurant. Great menu. The pan fried lamb fillet is fantastic. The restaurant offers an upmarket experience, set in a traditional refurbished farm building. Spacious layout. Great for a quick lunch, and equally good for a romantic dinner of family event. Lots of parking. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻

If you have known this restaurant for a long time and know what it was like to be a guest there, then (....). I have a certain incomprehension as to how one can get a rating of 4 or even 5 stars today. My personal opinion: In this restaurant the guest is "unwinded". You never feel like you're really welcome. So it's not even that noticeable that you're not being seen off - you've paid. Experiencing the joy of gastronomy looks a little different for me!

We had a great evening in a nice atmosphere. I‘d recommend the Egli and the Spätzle (food on point) and definitely the apple cake for desert. Service was outstanding.

My husband and I had a wonderful romantic evening here. The atmosphere was cozy with fresh flowers on every table, yummy food, good wine and one of the best apple cakes I’ve had. Our waiter, Jan was professional and very charismatic. We will definitely come back here.

Times are changing extremely. Since most people don't include photos in the review, I won't either. When I see someone give a review for the first time and then give such praise. I was not at all satisfied after my last visit. The typical Swiss restaurant like it used to be is simply missing. Jan? I don't understand how so many Google reviews were written for the first time and it says Jan everywhere. I intentionally didn't take a photo like most people who wrote a review for the first time. You can do a lot more with this restaurant, but it still needs a lot more work and people who have trained in Switzerland and are familiar with Swiss gastronomy. When I look at the plates and the service🙈 I read the Google reviews and wanted to see for myself. Never again, thanks for the fake ratings in the reviews. Definitely won't come back. Thanks Jan

Very bad and rude service. My husband had a table reserved for November 10th 4 weeks ago. Today I wanted to ask what time we have available. The answer was, they can't come at all, we have a banquet. And I asked why we weren't informed and what would have happened if we had appeared, the answer was that I would have sent you away. We were very good customers, but not anymore!!!!!😡

The food was fine, but not much else. Prices are too expensive and portions too small. For this price you can expect more.

We have stopped by the farm a few times and always thought it was great. Since the change of host, we have heard from various quarters that the service is no longer good. Now we wanted to see for ourselves and were absolutely satisfied. The service is top. The food, as always, was very good. The price alone is rather in the upper limit for what is on offer. This could be reconsidered at a time when the restaurant has to prove itself again in order to satisfy many guests again.

Price/performance is not right at all. Very high prices. Complicated payment method. It was not possible to pay separately for groups. Long waiting times. However, enough parking spaces and a cozy atmosphere. It still has a lot of room for improvement but we still won't be coming back.

Not cheap, but the food and the unique service are definitely worth it. Also a beautiful restaurant.

I miss the old farm a lot! The welcoming and warm atmosphere as well as the traditional home cooking have disappeared. Instead, the service is hectic, the food is prepared without much attention and is rather conventional. In addition, the bill is quite high. I was really very disappointed with this change.

The outdoor terrace is very beautiful and spacious, nice and cool under a dense canopy of old trees, which is beautifully illuminated in the evening. The tables are covered with cloth sheets and good quality cloth napkins. We found the terrace tastefully decorated, as you would expect in this price range. The only downside for some may be the clearly visible noise of the traffic, but we did not find it annoying at all in the wings of the cozy cow and sheep bells. The view is excellent in all directions and the friendly and attentive service (tonight in a combination of very experienced and a newcomer) is almost always in sight. With Chef Schwab in the kitchen, I don't have to write anything more than that the food was simply excellent. Both the honest, yet surprising flavors and the presentation are excellent. Highly recommended and we would love to come back here again for another wonderful evening.

We have been visiting the farm for many years - always satisfied. Since the change of tenant we have eaten there twice, twice disappointed. When I asked if we could speak to the boss, the answer was that she would be at home all weekend because she had to be there for the three children.

No confirmation received when making a reservation via the Internet. I reserved another phone after 3 days. Food was “good”. There were only 8 people in the restaurant that evening. Nevertheless, the rösti wasn't really warm. I would have expected more for a restaurant in this price range. The desserts are very small, but cost a proud Fr.15.- Overall, I have a mixed feeling. I won't be visiting this restaurant again anytime soon. 2023-08-08 It's a shame that there has obviously been no real reaction to the negative points since our visit to the restaurant. This is not a good sign for the future.

Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere paired with fine menus.

It's a traditional Swiss cuisine restaurant, decorated in a traditional stylish way. The food was very tasty, extra large portions especially for schnitzel and cordon blue! The servers were very attentive and spoke English. I would highly recommend.

Service is top! Unfortunately, food is no longer what it used to be but is very expensive. Starters and main courses did not correspond to the price-performance ratio at all. The ambience would be great, but now the walls are empty and it has lost something. Unfortunately the terrace was also closed. I reported my displeasure to the restaurant directly.

Everything at the top, cheese spätzli with walnuts, spinach and pears, amazing! Classic Swiss prices. Elegant place and very friendly waiters.

-overprized ( kalbschnitzel 47 chf) -Service unsatisfactory ( rigid attitude, removing plate while not finished, same for glass of wine, taken away without asking) - we have been installed on a table where the sun was right on the face of one of us, without asking if this was ok or proposing another table.( restaurant was not full) - not a good experience

Were there in the evening and at lunchtime. Service very attentive. The evening and lunch menus are identical. A separate lunch menu with a lighter business lunch would be nice. Quality of the food is ok, but unfortunately not anymore.

Reception and service was friendly, very, very nice location, prefer smaller portions of food but nicely prepared and top quality, rather longer waiting times for 9 people at 1/4 capacity, Rösti quite compact mousse, Zurich sliced ​​meat must be more tender for the price. It's a shame Reviews are served with standard answers.

Price-performance is not right at all!

1 star for solid stroganoff and cleanliness. The rest does not correspond to the level sold. Service was friendly, but obviously not sufficiently trained. Everything is very impersonal, no questions asked, lots of idle time and long waits, Wienerschnitzel including oily fries, chocolate mousse light years away from light and airy, etc. Lots of room for improvement, despite a very manageable menu. A pity.

Unfortunately there is no lunch menu, only à la carte and therefore (too) expensive for lunch. The open 7 dl wine service seems cheap and is unworthy of an otherwise noble inn! It is poured into the carafe directly at the buffet without you being able to see the wine bottle, let alone try it. If the pouring is really lively, you'll feel like you're in a cheap pub. Here we wished for a little more style and respect for a good wine - and the guest!

Four of us had dinner and enjoyed the courteous, friendly service with good food.

We celebrated a birthday on Mother's Day: food, service, ambience - everything was top notch. It was and still is a great place for a solid and cozy meal.

We went to the restaurant for lunch yesterday and were warmly welcomed. The service staff were incredibly courteous, attentive and accepted our requests (including special requests) with a smile and fulfilled them with a smile. I had a tartare as a starter, it was very good and 25.- ok. There were 3 small slices of bread on the plate and I had to ask for the butter. For the main course I had tagliatelle with shrimp. The portion was just ok, I found the price of 36.- too much. The dessert was very small and too expensive at 15.-. I always had to pour the wine myself. Conclusion: too expensive, service poor. I definitely won't be going there again for the time being.

The employees were very friendly and the service was top. The starter came within a few minutes and the main course after about 15 minutes. The food was very delicious. We will come again.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is no longer recommended. For a group of 8 or more people, ordering à la carte is not permitted. The food cannot be compared to before and the prices are expensive. Requests for changes to the menu are not fulfilled. We also had to wait a long time for the tickets and then for the food. Finally, we were shocked that we couldn't pay separately with a credit card. We had to add everything up ourselves and then pay in cash. Then we were informed at 11:15 p.m. that the restaurant was actually closed at 11 p.m. But ultimately we couldn't help it for the long waiting times (there weren't many people in the restaurant that evening). It's a shame about the beautiful house that we used to enjoy staying in. But unfortunately that was the last time.

We visited the restaurant as a family of 4, with 2 kids. When doing the reservation we were told there will be some delay due to the fact that many tables had the same arrival time. When we placed the order we’re told again about the delay due to the same reason, and were told it’d be about 20 to 30 minutes. After 1 hour and 30 min we decided to leave, the waitress (a German gentleman) wasn’t very friendly, he couldn’t care less about the situation. Prices are completely off compared to the poor service, i can’t really judge on food quality as we didn’t have the pleasure to get our main after a waiting time of 1h and 30min. When leaving the place we were told the kitchen was broken and only half of it was working. Nothing to do with the first reason we were told. Be aware of very bad, rude and loooong waiting times! Above 1h30 min for a main dish!!

Beautiful authentic place, great views, attention to the details, good food and service

After many satisfied visits, this time unfortunately a bitter disappointment. We were a group of 13 people from all over Switzerland and had made a reservation. The rest was empty except for about 6 other guests. The lady in service was very friendly but unfortunately just as flexible. It was not possible to change the supplement, it was emphasized about 4 times that several people should order the same thing (once would have been enough). 1 hour and 40 minutes from entering the restaurant to the starter is quite a long time. When paying, only the total bill was brought, no separate payment with card was possible. We had to pool cash and twin each other. The food was a bit bland but OK but didn't do justice to the very high prices. It's a shame about the previously always good experiences on the farm

One server from Poland was friendly, the second server was unfriendly. Food without taste but good prices e.g. Soup for Fr.18.-. At the end, a group of 13 people had to add up our bill ourselves - there was only one entire bill. Conclusion once and never again.

The Gasthaus Farm has been on our “Höcklist” for years, and we have always been very satisfied. We know there was a change of tenant/owner a few weeks ago. But what we experienced last night from 7 p.m. is also new to us. Restaurant estimated about 30 people, 13 of which were our group. We were told several times that we should order a standard menu so that it would be quicker, etc. We were there to enjoy a cozy evening with a fine meal. We received the starter after about 1.5 hours and the main course half an hour later. At this point there were practically no guests left except us. Food was ok, but not according to the prices. There was no herb butter for a beef fillet instead of the sauce because it wasn't available. Dessert same, high prices small portions. To top it all off, we were allowed to pick up the bill ourselves and had to pay everything in cash, no credit cards or EC possible, no reason was given. The waitress didn't show up anymore and didn't seem to care that some people didn't have any cash. That's our problem. Conclusion: price/performance ratio is out of proportion, long waiting times (1/3 full of guests), inflexible and stubborn (payment options), food was at best standard. Every good village pub does this better. Sorry guys, but hospitality looks different, you definitely lost it with us. We won't come anymore.

Overpriced, slow, good portions

Aperol Spritz at Fr. 16.00 is way too expensive, the taste is boring, and the other prices are also borderline. The lady in service was friendly, the second lady who was sometimes in the restaurant or at the PC was unfriendly, didn't greet the guests and didn't even look at them. Toilet furnished in a very spartan way. No decoration, no fresh terry towels (usual at these prices) or at least paper towels available. A pity!

Its highly recommended a little bit pricey but worth it..

Very good cuisine with traditional dishes that you can't get everywhere. "Grosis Kabissalat" as a starter, followed by chicken strips "Zurich style" with Rösti and finally the homemade caramel head. The open 3 Series Merlot was also convincing. The service attentive and friendly. I will gladly come again.

Finally a restaurant that can still make breaded cutlets. Very nice restaurant and good conditions. I would love to come back.

We have been visiting this restaurant a few times a year for years. The comfort that the house exudes warms the heart, the service is friendly and the food is consistently excellent! A heartfelt recommendation ❤.

Unfortunately a bitter disappointment. The four of us went for lunch and were at the table for a good 3.5 hours until the bill was finally paid. The service was far too slow and inattentive, the food was far too expensive for the service provided and the dessert was absolutely overpriced! For 2 small pieces of cake with ice cream 16.50! The main course of veal was also better canteen food without attention to detail. At such a price point you would expect a lot more! Not recommended!

Excellent food in a very cozy farm. Above all, the wooden ceilings and floors in the farmhouse style contribute to the feeling of coziness. We came as a group of 10 very international guests and were given a beautifully set table (see picture). The staff was very courteous and efficient. The reservation process was uncomplicated and flexible.

The food and wine was, as always, very good, high quality. The service was very friendly and competent. Many thanks to the large team.
