The food was quite good but didn't meet my expectations. The meat in the main course was a bit tough. The pork belly dumplings were the best. Unfortunately the service was a disaster. Very impolite. Different wines served in the same glass. It's a shame, otherwise it would definitely be worth visiting again and could earn more stars.

I've been there twice. Upscale dining from the owners of Neumarkt, just that they serve meat here. Great quality of everything and very steep prices. Food is certainly 5 stars, I'm just not really at ease leaving a restaurant with such a bill and giving an overall of 5 stars.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here! All the dishes we tried were excellent and service was absolutely great. The taste of the food was incredible and the design of the dishes was amazing. Like work of art! Definetely recommended to try it was really a great experience!

“Cobbler, stick to your lasts” The tavern was previously unknown to me. For me, farms and taverns embody honesty, down-to-earthness and good value for money. The restaurant is exactly the picture of a simple, somewhat outdated and worn-out tavern. It lacks any chic, any flair, it is impersonal and cold. The bench at our table was very uncomfortable. The menu is manageable, with tapas on page 1 and a menu on page 2. The service was very friendly, articulate and communicative in several languages. We ordered six different tapas to share for three people. However, the average price per tapa was an astonishing CHF 36.66! The tapas were rustic with a touch of sophistication. The quality was good, but the portions were small. The price bears no relation to the quality and quantity of the food, nor to the simple furnishings and sparse furnishings of the restaurant. As the saying goes, “Cobbler, stick to your guns,” and the tavern should reflect what its name suggests and what the establishment embodies from within. Unfortunately, in Zurich, the most expensive city in the world, some things are simply overpriced.

Exceptional food unlike anything else in town; local ingredients with a hint of an Asian twist, very skilfully executed. Service on the less polite side of things at times, but overall ok. Excellent natural wine menu. However, do not rely on your reservation counting for anything! Despite having made what turned out to be a reservation request on their online system over two weeks ago, I was told the evening before my reservation (Friday before Christmas) that I wasn’t going to get a table. I called several times and was promised a call back, sent emails to resolve the matter (eg later time slot), explaining I had an important guest from abroad: no response. It seemed like they were waiting for more important guests only to let me know at the last second I wasn’t welcome after all. Feels really badly to be treated like this and then ignored.

Thouroughly enjoyable dining experience, all plates we had ranged between really good to utterly delicious and service was friendly and professional. Highlight for me were the parmesan churros, served with a black garlic sauce. Just like its brother Neue Taverne, in my opinion it's among the best restaurants in ZH when it comes to quality to price ratio.

Excellent wine pairing and surprising dishes. I highly recommend taking the 5 course surprize menu to get the full experience. We were there on a Friday, and it was fully booked but never felt uncomfortable. While didnt felt rushed, there was a second table reservation the same evening, so if you want to relax after the meal, I advise you to make a reservation for the later slot.

Creative, unique and extremely diverse dishes can be found on the menu, such as the milk rolls with a truffle parmesan combination or the dessert variation made of kiwi sorbet, dill mousse and a sticky mass of pistachios. All of the dishes were very successful and the sauces were excellent. From the starters to the dessert, I was able to expand my culinary horizons.

Laid back dining experience that promises creative modern food. We ordered the 5 course surprise menu and we're overall very happy the dishes. One thing we noted was that each of the 5 courses had some type acidic base to them. It's not a bad thing but over the course of 5 dishes, we were hoping for more variety. My favorite dishes were the octopus skewers, scallops and the blue berry sorbert.

I had the most incredible dining experience here! The food was sooo good. Every dish was a work of art. The staff attention to details was truly remarkable: we never had an empty glass or a dirty plate on the table. The wine pairing was also really good. The sommelier has a deep understanding of wine pairing, enhancing our dining experience even further. My favourite bite was the venison cheek at the beginning and the kaiseki style pudding. This is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. If you're looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply try new dishes this is the place to be. TOP restaurant from A-Z. The food is incredibly delicious! The milk roll with truffle is an absolute hit, as is the pork belly taco and the veal entrecote was medium fried to perfection and super juicy. Really great class! The staff is very friendly and attentive. EVERYTHING PERFECT!

We had the tasting menu and what a delight. Evey dish of the 5 course meal was incredible. My favorite was the scallops. If you are in town for a romantic dinner or celebration, you cannot go wrong here. Also, service was incredible. Walking us through each course and always attentive to our every need.

This was hands down one of the better dining experiences I’ve had in my life and the rare occasion that the food was actually really well seasoned and I didn’t put salt in any dish additionally. Very well done. The best dish of the night was the grilled octopus with some Japanese inspired mayo sauce. Service was just okay to be honest but not bad and not too okay to make the overall experience worse.

Certainly a lovely little restaurant in the old town. The decor makes it quite old fashioned and homey. I didn't quite trust it at first but after looking at the menu I definitely got excited. Contrary to their decor I would describe their food as rather modern with fine dining elements while still keeping normal portion sizes. The sourdough bread was absolutely delicious as was the white fish roe with blinis however we both felt that the rest of our meal (marinated tomatoes, asparagus and beef) were all rather heavily salted.

This was my best meal in Switzerland, and I was there for two weeks. The food was beautiful, creative, and delicious. The broccoletti was one of my favorite dishes with the seasoning, the pistachio, and the Stracciatella. The steak was so good, cooked as ordered. The peppers, the bread, the cauliflower, literally everything that came out was a treat. I also went for Tepache, the fermented beverage from Mexico, and enjoyed that! The atmosphere has a low-key feel. The décor makes you feel like you’re in someone’s living room.

Today we had dinner at the Bauerschänke because it was a colleague's birthday. Thanks to the nice weather we were able to eat outside. The ambience inside is also wonderful. We decided on a surprise menu with wine accompaniment. The service is very nice and attentive! Top! The food is mostly very fine and, above all, very tasty and you can notice all the different flavors. The only thing I didn't like was that the second course was pulpo and the third course was mussels with, I think, crabs. The consistency was too similar for me. A vegetarian course would have been more special and varied. (But here I am whining at a high level). What was also a shame, after the delicious soup (fennel, tomatoes and oil), we ordered a cookshot for after the meal, which we were promised. Suddenly the kitchen team had finished work and it was forgotten... All in all, I can highly recommend it, definitely with wine accompaniment. Thank you very much for the lovely evening, even though Nenad was unfortunately not there, which I find very unfortunate. PS: with 15 Gault Millau points, I expect at least the chef to stop by for a moment.

The food was phenomenally good, there were three of us and we each ordered a starter, main course and dessert. We were able to try almost everything on the menu and it was incredibly tasty! There is a star deduction for the service because our waitress was totally uninterested and even brought us the wrong wine. A shop like this would be perfect if it had passionate waiters who enjoy service. We'll be back for the food and hoping to experience better service!

We had our civil wedding lunch there at the end of January 2023 and it was perfect: from the communication for the organisation (thank you Philipp) to the reception and service (thank you Chloe and Steffi), the natural wine and of course the dishes full of creativity and respect for the product. Some of our guests even went back in the following weeks and we will also come back soon.

Good food, but if I pay 200 CHF for a meal I expect to not get thrown out in a real unfriendly way because they overbooked their tables. Also, they knew what we would order and how long it would take. The bottleneck was their speed, but nevertheless they made us feel like we did something wrong. If you want to spend money you can find better service in Zürich elsewhere.

A wonderful surprise. Very modern and simple design. Clean and serene! We shared few plates and we enjoyed a lot. The ravioli are delicious. They have also a vegetarian restaurant very close. Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Presentation of Food: 4/5 Food Quality: 2.5/5 Value: 2/5 Overall: 3.3/5 $300+ for 2 glasses of wine and two chef’s tasting menus that we left half-way thru because we just didn’t care for the food. Main issue was most everything was over salted to our taste. Perhaps it was us, perhaps not. Other dislikes was that the pork belly wraps were dried-out and tough (chewy), as well as salty. The veal cheek with espuma was salty. The remake that provided with a cabbage substitute was better, but we wanted the veal. After the calamari and mussel dish we had had enough to just ask for the check. Paid for the entire tasting meal except for our wine, as they recognized we weren’t thrilled. Not entirely sure, but believe we left without receiving the main course or desserts. Staff, again, were lovely. Perhaps you may like this spot, but for us…meh. #bummer #bauernschänke #salty

Tradition meets modern cuisine - reinterpretation and experimenting with tastes, and this with regional and seasonal ingredients. Yes, this is also reflected in the prices, but for the quality, service and location absolutely worth it. The menu changes often, so you won't ever get bored by the same dishes. Especially positive i want to mention the wine selection and the enthusiastic and charming waiter helping with the selection. Unfortunately the brussel sprouts were out of stock already, i would love to have tried them ;)

If you're in the Zurich area and looking for an absolutely phenomenal dining experience, this is your place. This Swiss intimate restaurant, helmed by an Austrian chef, offers modern, creative dishes made with seasonal produce from local markets. Every dish is crafted as a piece of art, with bold flavors and exquisite attention to detail. With its cozy traditional ambiance, and innovative culinary creations, Bauernschänke is in my opinion hands-down the best restaurant in the Zurich area. We were able to walk in on a Wednesday night without a reservation but it was full, so I’d recommend making a reservation beforehand. A truly unforgettable dining experience for my family. We will definitely be back as we heard their menu changes every month!

Food very good! Many of the wines are fashionably naturally fermented and correspondingly weak, but expensive. Just fashion. Wine waiter unfriendly, otherwise good service. After two hours you are thrown out on the street and that is not possible given the prices charged. It's simply uncultured when you have a bill of over 600 CHF and are complimented beyond that.

At the end, a sweet little surprise - they gave us a small bar of Chocolate from a Zurich-base manufacturer (this small detail conquered our hearts). Well, it's been a few weeks since I last went to the Bauernschänke in the evening. Arrived at 6 p.m. and immediately after the “Hello” I was told to please leave the “store” at 8 p.m. because the table was sold again. Well, maybe that's appropriate in an IN shed, but still unpleasant. However, the service makes you aware of it in a decent and nice way. The menu is a bit short and the explanations of what's in the bowls are sparse. The current trend is to keep things short. At Caminada there is also a course called “Lettuce, Gazpacho”. Well, that's right, let's surprise you... Well, the restaurant practices sharing bowls and ideally 4-6 bowls for two people at around 30 CHF per bowl. The things are prepared great, thanks to Thomas Brandner - a fine and creative chef. This allows boss Nenad to devote himself to his numerous obligations. However, it is a credit to him to have such a sous chef and to look after him. You can read it in my explanations, I'm a Brandner fan. I love his cuisine, even if the portion size is sometimes a bit tight. The service is nice and attentive at the beginning, but it decreases in line with the contents of the bowls. At the end, you have to use an aircraft usher gesture to pay so that you get noticed. To keep it short, I'll put it this way: If Thomas wasn't there, I wouldn't be there either. The good offer in Zurich today is too great for that and there are many addresses that - sorry Thomas - also offer interesting things. So, dear connoisseurs, the city is full of good kitchens and chefs. You have to visit Thomas Brandner at least once, but there are still Gniesser addresses without the hassle of leaving your table until 8 p.m.

Philipp and his team do an excellent job of celebrating the highest level of gastronomic professionalism in a relaxed, cheerful way. We were there in a larger group and were warmly welcomed, looked after and fed. The food is delicious and of the highest quality, the wines are wonderful. We are excited. The two of us ate here on a rather busy Tuesday evening. We had an excellent meal in the rather small, wood-paneled restaurant, and since we shared everything - as the owners recommended - the verdict is basically doubled. Of the five courses including dessert that we tried, we both liked the fried porcini mushrooms with labneh and Jerusalem artichoke best; The grilled sausage in a bun with a great cucumber sauce is also excellent. The restaurant would have received the maximum rating if one waiter hadn't been a bit strange. What was also not very pleasant was that more water was delivered to us without asking, even though my companion had already hesitated with the first carafe. And the water was calculated. The bread we ordered was also charged at 5 francs. Sometimes it's trivial things that spoil your mood. The prices are pretty high after all. Water and bread should be included.

Unfortunately, after a delicious meal for which we had paid almost 500 CHF, we had to leave the restaurant very quickly and were practically shown the door without being able to drink the tea we had paid for. We were already aware that we had only reserved until 8:30 p.m. But the timing of the service was a bit slow and we only received the piping hot tea a few minutes before we had to leave the restaurant. What also made things more difficult was that the service employee didn't speak any German. Guests cannot be expected to be able to communicate only in English.

The food is simply brilliant, really top quality. The milk roll with truffles was especially delicious. But all the other dishes were also fantastic. The service is very attentive and friendly, but still relaxed and charming. Nice wine selection.

Nous adorons la cuisine vietnamienne et n'avons pas été déçu dans ce restaurant recommandé par un ami. Les plats étaient très fin et copieux. Je recommande sans hésitation ce lieu pour ceux qui aiment la cuisine asiatique et pour ceux qui désirent la découvrir.

Looking for an amazing sushi place in Zurich city center? QQ sushi is definitely a place to recommend. Very good service, excellent sushi, well decorated restaurant. Just surprised people still complain about good food needing a bit of time to be prepared: if you don't like it, why don't you go to a kebab?

This restaurant I can only compare to the real thing: Viet Nam. And it compares well, very well!! Friendly staff, good and complete menu, tasted not like a typical Europeanised version of Vietnamese food, but the real thing: back next week to explore the other dishes!!!!
