Bistrot du Boeuf Rouge in Genève

A bustling lyonnaise style bistrot in the Pâquis area of Geneva. The decorations and tables were all in the classic style. The service was very welcoming and quick. If you are into steak, this is the place, go no further. From sirloin to fillet steak (Tournedos) and their famous beef wellington (call in advance for it), all are cooked to perfection. They have very good dishes of the day, but for this review, I stuck with the main menu. I had a terrine stuffed with morilles mushrooms to start off, followed by the Tournedos Rossini which comes with an indulgent pan-seared piece of foie gras and dauphinois potatoes as side. The accompanying sauce is both rich and luscious. I finished off with the desert of the day which consisted of a tasty chocolate and carmel tarte. All in all, I would highly recommend visiting this establishment with friends, family, business or even on your own. It is well worth the experience.

A very typical brasserie in the heart of Geneva with excellent food and very, very friendly & professional service. The menu shows exactly what you expect from a traditional restaurant and all the atmosphere is authentic. Merci beaucoup & we will back for sure. Absolutely love this place. The staff was so kind and the service was impeccable. The food was amazing — so wonderfully French with loads of butter. The atmosphere was so cozy. And the staff sung Happy Birthday with a torch candle for my son. It was a memorable birthday dinner. And compared to other nice Geneva restaurants, it was more moderately priced. I highly recommend if in Geneva.

We had dinner with pumpkin soup and entrecote with cooked vegetables. Both dishes were good. The venue is characteristic. Recommended if you love meat and especially game.

Simply delicious and the service is no stranger either. Definitely a must in Geneva, but don't forget to reserve. (Hopefully the Indian banana tasted good 😉)

Excellent food, courtesy and professionalism from the staff made the dinner perfect. Although the area is not exactly elegant, the restaurant with some touches is.

The restaurant staff were very welcoming and helpful. The menu offers a very wide choice with suggestions and Lyon specialties as well. I had a great time there with my family. The starters and main courses are very well served and there is a very large choice of dessert. I highly recommend I will return.

Excellent. I had the paté then the entrecote as part of the set menu, both of which were delicious, and my gf ate thequenelle de brochet, which she said was the best she ever had. Service was super friendly and the atmosphere was family friendly and social.

A true Geneva ... and Lyon institution. If you are looking for a very good "bouchon lyonnais" - look no further! But beyond that it is above all an excellent restaurant, a very nice menu - including in terms of wines, a top team, a contained addition. I go there at least once a quarter :)

Fantastic restaurant. The menu had many great choices, and the selections we picked were amazing. The staff was kind and accommodating, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. We ended with a wonderful opera cake as well. Would absolutely return if in the area again.

I didn't have a reserved table and they seated me right away, it is quite busy and I recommend that you reserve. The waiters and all the staff are very friendly, I only speak Spanish and we communicate wonderfully. It is really worth going here, the climate of the place is familiar, the food is very tasty and I found the portions abundant. I ordered a glass of wine and it was very good too. I would return.

Thanks to Maite d'Orcarbeiro's opinion (from a week ago) I got the dish I ordered right! Thanks for the pictures!! We did not have a reserved table and they seated us immediately, waiters and all the staff were very pleasant, I do not speak French but they made a very kind effort to communicate with us. The menu (59 CHF) is a success for quality and quantity (and price!) Expensive for me (Spanish) but we are in Geneva and that is what it costs. Almost full and it's Wednesday!!! To repeat? Yeah

Very nice restaurant, very tasty and the dishes are very nicely presented. They show you your dish in the pan before putting them on the plate, very nice detail.

This is my favorite restaurant in Geneva, Switzerland. Carlos and Pascale, the proprietors, are an absolute joy. The food is wonderful! The wine is divine!

Oh point! We have to pay a lot of money to eat 70g of red meat. It's Thieves! And the service is expeditious and rude. We won't go back there again, it's legal theft

I was in Geneva for two days and visited Bistrot du Boeuf Rouge both days. The ambience, the cuisine, and the spirit of the restaurant made my meals memorable. Carlos and Pascale are great — if you’re in Geneva, I highly encourage you to visit Bistrot du Boeuf Rouge!

Just had the most wonderful meal at Bistrot du Boeuf Rouge. Sirloin steak with blue cheese dressing and an incredible wine to go with it. Even better was the outstanding welcome and service from Pascale and her team. You feel like part of the family and they are genuinely happy to be there and make your meal special. If you haven't been, you simply must go!

HOMEMADE AND QUALITY DRIVEN. A temple for food lovers. The über-Swiss owners welcome you with friendliness and love for food and terroir. Lyon oriented cuisine with a few other bistro sidesteps. Lots of respect for tradition yet very 2022. From snails to Chateaubriand beef, through green salad, perch filets and baba au Rhum. Amazing wine list as well which will satisfy anyone, from nature sulfite free wine freak, to classic hunter or budget conscience connoisseur.

Excellent dishes, although for the price the service could be a bit better. However, it still deserves 5 stars for the quality of their meat. Not the Chateaubriand I was expecting but very good to enjoy!! (In the photo salad with duck)

As per other reviewer, I don’t know why this restaurant has such a high score, the beef arrived undercooked and vegetables were overcooked, worst gratin dauphinois I ever had, mushrooms greasy too. Service was not friendly and the unfriendly server dropped my scarf on the floor when returning it to me , leaving me to pick it up when I was leaving and simply rushed off without apology, ironic given they scolded me for putting plate of bread and entree (which they had not cleared) on another table to make room for the mains saying I might 'dirty' the other empty table, even though they place paper sheets on top of the table cloth to protect it.

A Geneva institution, more than 30 years after my first visit, it's still just as good, nice, and a fair price. Superb quenelle, delicious Châteaubriant, not to mention the floating island....

A legendary restaurant in the lower streets....two generations of restaurateurs have succeeded each other with a single objective...the satisfaction of their customers. Carlos and his wife have successfully taken up the torch....their menu is an ode to dishes that make you feel good...their entrecôte with pastis is killer, during the hunting season, they are inventive (their chestnut steak in season is unforgettable)....finally their wine list contains treasures at affordable prices....my interested favorite, the S of Sao del Coster, an inexpensive Priorat produced by two Genevans... ....it is better to book at midday

Very nice discovery, impeccable and friendly service. We had the entrecôtes, perfectly cooked, excellent béarnaise. The wine was very good. We were in a hurry and the waiters advised us what to have. Everything was perfect! Thank you very much, I will go back there to taste the Lyon specialties!

Family bistro, cheerful atmosphere, authentic historical decor, very pretty French menu (especially in terms of wines)! The flambéed salmon is absolutely divine, and all meat dishes are worth trying once or another!

Classical decoration, retaining the charm of a venerable restaurant despite the arrangements imposed because of the epidemic. The meat was simply spectacular.

Période de la chasse à ne pas manquer !Malgré les aménagements de la salle suite aux restrictions, l’équipe se démène pour que vous puissiez passer un bon moment et le pari est réussit. Le menu chasse à un prix abordable est parfait au niveau qualité et quantité. J’ai voulus éviter le dessert au châtaignes (lourd pour mon estomac de 51 ans) et pris sans supplément l’île flottante....une superbe pièce est arrivée devant moi. Bref on ne se moque pas de vous. Je recommande encore cette adresse de bonne qualité et à l’accueil chaleureux.
