Blockfeld Boulderpark & Bistro in Winterthur

Yesterday we celebrated our son's birthday in the great hall. The children had a great course and we had a comfortable time. The staff is absolutely friendly, very helpful and competent. We'd love to come back.

My favorite bouldering hall 🥰 There are routes with natural stones, which I have never found anywhere else, that the walls are black and the handles up to the natural stones are black. You have to take a good look around where the route is. Bistro is super nice and the food is super nice

I was there on a Sunday with friends and we could benefit from the group discount and fast check in. The bouldering hall is a bit cold but well done. For beginners as well as professionals. The entrance and parking spaces are somewhat hidden. The staff was very friendly and attentive. There is a large selection of drinks and snacks, which are also recommended. I will definitely come again

A top bouldering park, well maintained and maintained, there are passionate professionals at work! Cool atmosphere, great atmosphere and always top events! A perfect training area for warming up, stretching or simply additional and specific training! Highly Recommended!

Best and most creative bouldering hall in and around Winterthur. Re-screwed regularly. FAB50 days is always a highlight of the year. It has something for everyone, from those who have never bouldered to the pros. :)

Small place but very welcoming staff and lots of different routes to try. I also really liked the slanted mat on the inclined boulder

The best gym we’ve ever been into! The gym is just beautiful, there are even birches inside, and the black holds remind you something of an outdoor bouldering experience. More, the team is super nice, we’ll surely be back!

Highly recommended in summer and winter, in summer they open both doors and you feel a bit like you're in the mountains with the fresh breeze. The food is also great because the ice cream is homemade... The staff is very friendly (they're really nice) See you soon again 🙋‍♀️

Really nice bouldering hall with a great atmosphere, almost like being outside. Spacious training and warm-up area with everything you need. The staff is always friendly, well-positioned and very helpful, be it for purchasing advice, climbing problems or minor medical emergencies... As a newcomer, there are great routes to start with with plenty of room for improvement in the difficulty levels. I'm already looking forward to the next climbing session ;-) Rene

+ Beautiful hall with aesthetic and versatile interior design: birch trees, slackline, free-standing blocks, open hall, flooded with light, seating for breaks. - During my visits I always felt pressured to buy additional items/food. I was also uncomfortable that when I paid with my debit card I was always told that cash was preferred. Since this payment method is already offered, I find it irritating when customers are tried to be advised against it. The time required to be recorded in the system is too high for me and I was always given the feeling that it was a hassle for the employee if I partially forgot the BLOCK FIELD CARD. I consider routes for beginners to be few and in my opinion there are too few new ones. In my opinion, aids such as descent handles would also be useful. Although I am aware that the hall is based on the motto “inside and outside”, it is clearly too cold for me in the cold months. I'm happy to pay a corresponding price for good service, but the entrance fee and rent are far too high for me for the given customer service and the (in my opinion) rarely renewed routes. Because of these points, I didn't really feel comfortable during my visits and haven't bouldered in BLOCKFELD for several months now, instead switching to another hall.

great bouldering park! Partly boulder with real stones from Ticino. Interesting routes and each one is named differently. Also great for children, as there are specially marked routes among the other routes. And also different difficulty routes for children. Very nice, bright park. Also a small shop with bouldering items. Very friendly staff with very good and professional instruction for children.

From a beginner's perspective: Super nice people always helpful. Exciting boulder, a bit difficult but doable, but varied and a good challenge. A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to boulder.

I am a regular guest in this beautiful bouldering hall, great staff and relaxed atmosphere. A very good coffee and snacks to get through the low performance. There are many routes for beginners and upwards will be tough if you like challenges. A lot of new routes were created for the FAB50 event...

Friendly staff; Different bouldering experience than in other halls due to the problem, difficulty level and wall surface

When I enter the block field, I and my colleague, who is entering a bouldering hall for the first time, are greeted in a friendly, warm, homely and warm manner by the counter and the screwdriver. It's quiet here. Large hall and very own concept. There are trees in the hall. Here the operator dares to build something of his own in addition to Boulderwelt descendants: Own color concept, cooler bouldering area. I start testing the boulder: Support problems that are perfected to the final extension, overhanging hanging rails. Finally I find a long snake boulder in the 7b/7b+ range and I am extremely surprised: Very nicely screwed. Unfortunately, I learned from regular customers that some boulders have been hanging for several months. All in all, I give the following stars for different categories: Atmosphere: 5/5 Staff: 5/5 Overall concept: 5/5 Screw style: 4/5 Variability: 3/5 All in all, a nice bouldering hall!

Actually a cool hall, but. Personally, it is too cold for me in the winter months. What bothered me the most was that the staff almost forced me to buy stuff from their shop. I felt so uncomfortable, I was only there 3 times and because of that I won't be coming back. (Edit: Unfortunately, after this negative review, the Blockfeld team threatened me with a report for defamation of reputation. I found that so childish that I unfortunately have to correct the review from 2 stars to one...)

Cozy bouldering hall with good support. The staff is competent and the level of difficulty is well graded. Tends to be a little more difficult than other comparable bouldering halls.

The concept with the purely black handles and colored adhesive strips is a little confusing at first, but after a short time it becomes a lot of fun. The hall is well ventilated and feels large. The training area is very spacious and offers everything your heart desires. The routes are rather short and hard like outside, old school route setting. From difficulty level 3 onwards, it's tough from level 4 onwards hard.

Very nicely designed bouldering hall with super friendly staff! The bouldering routes are really only for the tough ones 😅, sometimes extremely difficult but definitely something different! It's nice that children have also been taken into consideration and some routes have short trains and good holds.

Super great, spacious bouldering hall with various levels of difficulty. Because the handles and walls are completely dark, it took some getting used to at first, but overall it was very stylish. Very nice and courteous service and an innovative bistro. There's always something new, delicious and, above all, homemade to try out. I can currently highly recommend the ice cream.

After a few years have passed and I now work in Winterthur, an update is finally in order. I'll leave the old review below because the comment from the block field also refers to it. The block field has become something like my second living room for me and I spend a significant part of my free time there during the working week. I've been to a few halls all over the world and the block field is simply my favorite. Especially in the warmer seasons, it really feels a bit like being outside with the gates open. The routes are always extremely interesting, at all levels of difficulty. The screwing rhythm is rather leisurely, the routes hang for 9-12 months - since the hall is not really overcrowded, this is not a problem in terms of the grips being dirty, but it also means that new routes are rarely created. On the other hand, this means you can plan the routes intensively, which is not possible in other halls. So it has its advantages and disadvantages, at my level (low Fb 7) it is more of an advantage. As noted in the old review, the level of difficulty is rather higher than in other halls. Even the 1 series is quite a challenge for beginners. Can't really confirm, but also can't contradict, that they've become a little easier, as I've developed further in the last few years and that makes comparison extremely difficult. But even if you're a complete beginner, you'll find one or two routes that work. And if not, there are always nice people (e.g. me :-)) who are happy to help you. Now we have reached a very important point: the audience. It was always really good from the start, they are extremely nice people. And since the hall is significantly better attended than in 2017, there are now more nice people. There is always a hard core that goes very often and also meets outside to boulder. Sure, people change again, some don't come anymore, others join, others are suddenly back in the hall after 3 years. But the group actually always exists. And then there are plenty of guests who don't come that often, but who you meet regularly, you just feel at home. Now last but not least about the staff: There is nothing to complain about, you are always served very quickly and friendly. Thank you Anja, Serafina, Gunilla and Dan. Oh yes, I can recommend the courses. I never took part myself, but I saw often enough what happened there and how the trainers work. It's really great what Sam, Jonas, Mirco and everyone else delivers. Old review from 2017: I'm rarely in the Winterthur area, but a visit to this hall is a must for me. The handles are all black on anthracite-colored walls, and the routes are marked using strips of tape. So before you start you have to think carefully about how you want to tackle the boulder - in the middle of it you won't necessarily find the holds that belong to the route you've chosen. In addition, the walls are smooth, so you can use the wall for kicks much less than in other halls and have to adapt your bouldering technique accordingly. All of this gives the hall a very special style that you cannot find in other halls. In terms of difficulty, it's not particularly difficult for beginners; even level 1 is quite difficult in places. However, I would have one point of criticism: When I was there recently when the outside temperature was just above zero, the hall was not heated and it was therefore frosty. It still went quite well after warming up, but you cool down very quickly during breaks.

The climbing hall is very clean and well furnished. The routes are rather difficult but that's probably because they have a lot of regular guests. And the beer is very nice😂 Recommended✅

Cool bouldering park with various and very well thought-out routes for all levels of difficulty. In addition to that, there is also the very, very nice, courteous and helpful staff. If you're still hungry and thirsty after bouldering, you can quench your thirst with delicious tarte flambée, pizza or other snacks :) Generally highly recommended, even for the little ones.

Nice bouldering hall with still quite demanding routes. The walls have no grip and are completely slippery. That makes it a little more challenging. I haven't had that before, but you can get in quickly.

Beautiful and large bouldering hall with a large selection of routes. Personally, I like the birch trees. The “fitness area” with the training equipment is extremely well equipped. I find the entrance fee of CHF 20.00 a little too expensive. But yes 🤷‍♀️

Always very pleasant, a cozy atmosphere. There is nothing missing in terms of sport and my son also really enjoyed it. Remark when I went home from my little one: Now I'm han' fast number what hei gah, I like it. See you next time.

Friendly staff who take the time to explain things and can understand us English speakers. The bouldering is great especially the overhangs. And when your arms don't work anymore there's always the slack line. The registration process takes a while but once it's done it's smooth sailing.

Cool and varied routes, nice staff, good tarte flambée 😃, good products in the shop. I've been bouldering in the block field for almost three years and I'm very happy - there are always new challenges, so I can be found here several times a week. So definitely worth recommending 👍.

I only started bouldering a year ago and have tried various halls in the region. I liked the Blockfeld Hall the most by far. The beautiful atmosphere, the challenging routes right from the start, the great staff and the very exciting courses for adults. Everything is right! The fine pizzas and beer after a session are the icing on the cake.

Everything is just right here. The hall, the team, the guests... A wonderful place to forget the stress of everyday life. As a beginner it might be a little more difficult but also a cool challenge to complete the boulder.

The staff is always helpful and courteous in all matters. The boulders are demanding and there are no gradations between all the numbers, but the selection is huge and the people are spread out very well in the hall, so you can always find a challenge.

Great bouldering hall with a world-class training area!

Super brilliant bouldering hall. Here you almost feel like you are in nature with the trees and neutral-colored boulders. All levels of difficulty are available and there is also a quiet area to train. There are usually not that many people and so you can boulder in peace. Staff is always friendly and the prices are very fair.

Great bouldering hall! The boulders are screwed very well (more like outdoor bouldering with little friction than comp style parkour bouldering) and are a lot of fun. The staff is very nice and helpful. What more do you want?

The staff is very helpful, even though I didn't speak german they were very nice and friendly, they have a nice coffee, beers for the after session, and even a shower, which is very clean and nice if like me you are traveling. The bouldering is amazing, even though it seems hard, but bouldering is about solving problems right? Thanks!

As an absolute beginner, I was overwhelmed by the number 1 routes (for beginners). The first time I went bouldering, it went better in another hall. Ambiance and staff but otherwise top.

Very small but nicely decorated. For me as a beginner, very difficult routes that are almost impossible to do after I get a little tired. Nice training area. The exclusively black routes take some getting used to. Due to a course that used the entire hall alternately, I always had to get away from problems, which was annoying

The most comfortable and beautiful bouldering hall I know. The hall is big enough and has enough routes to spend a few hours and then have a beer in the bistro. Although I would like the block field to have more visitors, I like that the hall is not overcrowded and is therefore relatively quiet. The atmosphere with the trees and the black walls and holds surpasses the bouldering halls I know.

My son is taking a course. He has a lot of fun and feels in good hands. And I can sip some great coffee. Great atmosphere

Great community, with a variant park of climbing paths. Mind that I am a beginner, barely able to finish any trails of the second difficulty (out of 6). Its got a nice bar with cold and hot snacks and baverages, as well as the possibility to work out. Can recommend :)

Very interesting routes, mostly clean holds, very friendly staff. It's quite cold here in winter, so take warm clothes! Suggestion for improvement: The colored stripes occasionally fall off, maybe you can find a better way to mark them?

I love how the staff is always friendly and motivated. You can have a little chat with them and even eat and drink something. It's great to got there with kids, super fun. You can rent climbing shoes and magnesium as well as buy those and other things. It's always really cold there. That's the one thing I dislike about the place. I don't know why yet, maybe I'll remember to ask next time. EDIT Thanks for the explanation last time I visited. It makes total sense now and I will bring my warm jacked as well as take my breaks in the warm-I-forgot-what-it's-called :)
