Not like before! Unfriendly service and quality of the tapas leave a lot to be desired. Prices, especially the wines, are way too high. A pity. Was the last time in the bodega.

The bodega is still an important gas station for me. - The most obvious change since the change of hands in August 2023 is the higher prices. Taking into account quantity and price, the increase in tapas, for example, is on average around 70%. The guest mix is ​​changing.

After renovation and change of ownership, fortunately still “just the same” ;-)

The Bodega is a Spanish restaurant that is divided into a tapas bar (without reservations) and the restaurant on the upper floor. The bodega is located in Niederdorf, the “old town” of Zurich, right next to the delicatessen shop. We tried the tapas bar and were warmly welcomed. The furnishings are wonderfully rustic, the team is well-coordinated and they work hand in hand. Following my request, a colorful tapas variation was prepared for us. There was also a fruity, strong 🍷! Then a few words to the audience, people come here to chat, chat, laugh, switch off and have fun! That sums it up. I would be happy to come back.

Nice and atmospheric place in the center of Zurich. The food quality didn't justify the price. We got piment de padron, calamari, tortilla, and wine. Everything was a bit too oily or salty. Next time I'd skip the food and stay with the drinks.

Love this place! Friendly service and their vegetarian tapas selection is beyond amazing. It's located in the heart of Zurich just a few minutes from the main station. I met so many interesting people there and it's a great place to hang out with friends. Highly recommend!

Only the price is sour, but it's probably Zurich. Otherwise very good wine, great tapas, gladly again!

Always the same good and an experience in the historic rooms for decades.

Not the first time on the first floor, which I like because it comes across as very Spanish. You expect Don Quixote to come walking in at any moment. Luckily it's just the man with the guitar. On the other hand, I can't do anything with the Habitué restaurant on the ground floor, perhaps because I find it has too many older cultural workers who are who knows what they're proud of, even though they're mostly local bigwigs. - The food only gets two stars this time because it wasn't sophisticated enough for the steep prices. The chop was fried dry, but still no longer hot. I'd rather go to a steakhouse. The side dishes are also puny and a glass of Tempranillo that is far too cold for 11 francs is asking too much.

December 2023, after the gentle renovation, another visit to the bodega, food almost as good as before, service, not quite at the level before the renovation in July 2023. September 2022, visit, service as always courteous and warmly by the Spanish waiters. One of the oldest restaurants in Zurich with Spanish specialties since 1874. Friendly service. Fish platter and paella Valenciana are excellent. As a wine accompaniment I recommend the Marques de Griñon 2010 Domina de Valdep. Petit Verdot at Fr. 93.00. Open every day of the year.

Great atmosphere, but tapas are reheated in the microwave and, as much as you want them to be great, they just are not. Meatballs were completely raw - had to send them back.

The walls were full of grease marks. There was a very bad greasy smell coming from the kitchen. And the food was awful. And it is very obvious that all other reviews are fakes.

Good afternoon, I have visited the Bottega Española in Zürich, I give my opinion about it, the location is 10, good people and good atmosphere, Mr. Martínez is very kind and attentive, I have eaten a paella, the taste was exquisite, I paid 100 chf for 2 people for a paella, a lot of rice, 2 prawns and 2 mussels, it seems very little for that price, greetings

Great historic restaurant in Zurich's old town (right near Schwarzenbach and Café & Conditorei 1842)! Drinks and tapas can be taken on the ground floor (you have to order the tapas at the front of the counter in advance and they will be served to your table afterwards - drink orders are taken directly at the table), while the restaurant is on the upper floor. Important: Advance reservations are recommended for the restaurant on the first floor - however, you cannot reserve on the ground floor. When it comes to tapas, the Jamon Serrano, the Ensaladilla and the Croquetas are highly recommended! The restaurant on the ground floor impresses with its 150-year history and the ambience (the decor, it is loud, homely and you are seated at a table with strangers). Staff was friendly and professional.

This is the most classic Spanish bodega in ZH and it has been here forever. I literally haven’t seen any changes to their entrance, staircase and interior for years. The food is quite good, what’s really amazing is the portion of each dish. It is at least 30 % bigger than what most ZH restaurants offer. It feels cosy for a dark winter evening meal.

Was there several times during my apprenticeship. I like the location, I'm just not a fan of the high tables and chairs. The pizzas are great, I can only recommend them and the service is very friendly and helpful

For many years, the Bodega was one of my favorite places in Zurich for fine tapas and happy, uncomplicated get-togethers. After the change of ownership, the tapas display case, the cushions on the benches, the quiet place are new and the staff is the same, the price for the tapas has increased. A few days ago there were 4 croquetas on the plate, 2.3 days later only 3. (25% less for the same price??) When asked about it, the waiter said that that's just the way it is now. 👎

Best Spanish tapas in all of Zurich. Various small dishes give you the opportunity to try many different dishes/tapas. Everything is fresh and very tasty. The cozy restaurant with large tables invites you to linger and have long, deep conversations. The old wooden decorations create a beautiful atmosphere and can definitely tell a few stories ;-). Very friendly, well-informed and warm service which accompanied us competently and professionally throughout the evening. The whole experience was very authentic. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Last week we visited the bodega for the first time since it reopened and were very satisfied overall. The renovation was an absolute success, the typical bodega atmosphere was retained and the restaurant shines in new splendour. We were completely impressed by both the cuisine and the service. We think it's great that the management kept the staff during the renovation phase. You can tell that the employees are proud of their restaurant, and this pride is absolutely justified. The food is delicious, especially the beef and calamari. The meat is soft and juicy, very delicious. The calamari is good and fresh. Go in the evening and there are a lot of people. Waiting for food for a long time But it's worth the wait.

Nicely renovated, still the old crew at the front. But why is there no more sangria? Where are the tortas? It's not quite the same anymore...

My friend chose this place for her birthday so she did the ordering but wow everything she got was delicious, cooked, and seasoned perfectly. The beef was cooked to my liking and very tender with the right amount of seasoning. My ultimate favourite dish was the squid wow I don’t think I have tried better squid in my life it was so tender, juicy, and flavourful. We sat outside so I’m not sure about the atmosphere inside but it’s a great location with great food and service so I highly recommend this place if you’re in the old city of zurich and I suggest you try the squid if you like seafood surely you will not be disappointed. Their sangria’s were perfect too not too sweet but fresh and tasty. Definitely will be back to try more 😊

Once the banker has had enough of his peers and the whole Paradeplatz Insides and therefore likes to cross the Limmat, then he likes to end up in Bodega Espanola and imagine himself on vacation in Spain. The restaurant is getting old, but the concept is still right. The food 🥘 is authentic and makes you dream of the playa.

As a vegetarian I didn't have too many options. My grilled veggies were okay. But my wife loved her fish. The service was not super friendly but that could be because of the language barrier.

If you like fish and Spanish food, you've come to the right place. The food on the 1st floor is very good. The service is subtle but good.

A great restaurant where you feel a little like time has stood still. My parents were there 40 years ago and the rooms still look the same except for a few details. There are only tapas on the ground floor, if you want to eat ala card you have to sit on the 1st floor. It's a shame that you can't make a reservation on the ground floor. But it was really nice that there was an exception because there were 9 of us! Thanks for that! The food at the ala card and the tapas are also very great. One star is deducted because the rooms are very noisy and the service is sometimes a bit difficult. But everything is great. You're doing well and I'll be back...

Whenever I come to Zurich, I visit the bodega. The atmosphere, the selection of tapas at the counter and the always cheerful service men... and the food - hmmm... I will be there again at the end of May.

The warm and charming atmosphere makes you feel right at home. SERVICE 3/5: Unfortunately, the service at Bodega Espagnola was not as welcoming as the location. While the staff was polite, they didn't quite have the same ability to make customers feel welcomed and valued. FOOD 3/5: The food at Bodega Espagnola is quite good, and the tapas are reasonably priced considering Zurich's high cost of living. However, there was nothing that particularly stood out in terms of flavor or presentation. On the downside, we found the house wine to be overpriced. Overall, Bodega Espagnola offers a unique dining experience with a cozy and inviting atmosphere, but the service could use some improvement in making customers feel more welcome. The food is decent and fairly priced, but be cautious of the wine prices.

Wanted some lunch on the first floor but was then sent down because I probably couldn't afford it. I didn't like the atmosphere at all and I didn't like the waiter either. Unfortunately there was nothing on the menu that really appealed to me and small 'snacks' are extremely overpriced in my opinion. Chairs are extremely uncomfortable. This restaurant wasn't for me. That's why 2 stars 😽

My favorite Spaniard outside of Spain. On the ground floor there are tapas, tapas, tapas! On the 1st floor, the Moorish Hall invites you to enjoy a tasteful meal. Authentic like on the Iberian Peninsula.

What a fantastic spanish restaurant in the heart of the Niederdörfli. The atmosphere is fantastic in the old histrolical building. The restaurant itself is small which makes it even more special. The live musican was amazing. The tapas as well as the food was outstanding. The snails were better than expected. Absolutely loved it. The house wine fit perfectly to the food we ordered. Highly recommand this restaurant for good spanish food.

The food was very good, the service was ok at first, but then we were exposed in front of all the other guests. Apparently we paid a too little tip. We are students and we wanted to eat a good meal after our exams, we even gave a little tip. The tip was refused!!! Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable, in Switzerland (and Spain as far as we know) there is no tipping culture, fair wages are paid in Switzerland and a tip is a nice gesture. Such inappropriate comments that have been made are not only unprofessional, it is „below the belt“. Definitely lost two customers! Edit: to be clear, the food was excellent and the cooks where amazing but the service ruined the evening
