I adore!! I live in Ticino but if I come to Neuchâtel I will definitely come here because the food is very good and the service is excellent!

Shared foie gras, delicious! Then a quail with couscous, delicious and to finish a huge Paris Brest, absolutely worth sharing. Impeccable service and authentic Belle Epoque setting. Address to remember.

From start to finish, everything is perfect. Real brasserie dishes. Fast and very professional service. Thank you for this exceptional moment in Switzerland. We recommend the egg meurette, oysters gratinated and bone marrow. We will come back with great pleasure. Marie and Joëlle from Fribourg.

Good morning everyone As you will notice, my rating is equal to zero as the person who manages this place managed the unspeakable feat of 'blowing a reservation for 12 people on a Saturday evening', leaving us at 9pm on a pavement without a table despite the booking email on the site of the restaurant and even though I had stopped by in person at around 6pm to check that there was a table... Answer to my amazement? The waiter was wrong (a very unnoble gesture to blame on the staff) and then: "I'm sorry but that's life" .....I add, this is life when you have to deal with unserious and unprofessional people....

Superb brasserie located in the center of Neuchâtel. The setting is vintage with wooden tables. Reservations recommended as they are very popular. Friendly staff. Beautiful brasserie menu. Evening with friends. I really enjoyed the beef shank with Bordeaux sauce and the homemade fries. The homemade desserts including tarts and “Paris-Brest” are successful. Address to recommend

Traditional restaurant with a good daily menu, great menu fish, meat vegetarian. Very courteous service in a beautiful restaurant

Normally we always ate very well (which corresponds to the rating). Unfortunately, last time it wasn't overwhelming. At first the waitress forgot to pass our order on to the kitchen; I ordered oysters as a starter and skrei. The oysters were baked with herb butter (like the one used for snails). The skrei was wrapped in a sushi leaf, steamed and served with Asian noodles and fennel in a light miso soup. I understand the idea behind both dishes, unfortunately it doesn't work as desired. The herb butter killed the oysters' inherent flavor; The Skrei, on the other hand, was too shallow in taste. Nevertheless, I support the effort to try new things, most of the time it works, sometimes it doesn't.

We studied the menu, possibly good, but nothing authentic, everything artificial, the light was exorbitantly bright, unsympathetic. We moved on, despite the good review, and won at, 100 meters further bistro chauffage compris.

Very good restaurant. The setting is atypical. Well received and fast service. The daily menu was excellent and very good value for money. The quality of the dishes was above average, I really enjoyed it. The lemon tart that I had for dessert was one of the best I have eaten. I recommend it with my eyes closed, it was a great discovery! Covered, paid parking is available nearby.

Hare saddle way overcooked, despite an express request to deliver it "blue", my wish being to have it red to pink inside. The waiter didn't tell me anything when ordering but after delivery told me that it was impossible...slow cooking required...yet a table next door received the "perfect" cooking a few minutes later. Brief. Damage. Otherwise friendly service. Dessert offered to several tables including ours in the evening. Overall quality good, fair price for the service and quality.

The food is very good. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation. You wait a little longer for the food to be served, but it was very good. It is advisable to reserve in advance.

Coming from the Roanne region and its many starred chefs, passing through NEUCHATEL, we wanted to try this restaurant. Just the starter, the wild boar fleischnaka revisited by the chef, is worth the detour. Very good table.

An honest brasserie in the center of Neuchâtel. Traditional food, decently prepared and politely served, surely not the best I had in Neuchâtel but surely better than others. A positive side note: they speak English - it's not a given!

The food is good (apart from the kind of wheat risotto which is really not good 😅) We went there in May 2023 to celebrate a birthday. I was a little disillusioned when we entered the room 😳 very very noisy and the tables are stuck together (I'm claustrophobic) otherwise the price is not cheap.

Quaint restaurant with great dishes and friendly service.

I ordered a salad niçoise which arrived drenched in a vinegar-based sauce. I kindly pointed out that the presence of this sauce was not indicated on the menu and the problems began. A waitress became agitated in a strange way and with an aggressive tone and on the verge of shouting explained to me that all over the world (that's what she said!!) salads are served with vinegar sauce (a kinder colleague of hers then limited this practice to Switzerland). I paid the bill in full, and left without having dinner. I was treated with such rudeness that I didn't want to order anything else.

Mixed review. Food is on average good, not great, the atmosphere is very good, the service is nice, but can be overwhelmed. Overall one of the better places In Neuchatel.

While passing through Neuchâtel, we had lunch in this "belle- époque" brasserie...good food but the cost was too high for 2 dishes/desserts with a beer and a glass of rosé (€85!!!) Ps: for welcome, a nice maxim invites the tourist to stay at home...original!

I accompanied friends there while walking in a pedestrian street in the center of Neuchâtel. I therefore did not have lunch or anything else there, so no positive or negative opinion from me on this establishment. The only thing I can say is that the staff is not welcoming and smiling and according to my friends, the service is like this and long to boot...

The restaurant was recommended on TripAdvisor. Luckily we made a reservation. The restaurant was getting fuller and fuller. And was full by 7:30 pm. The menu is available in French, German and English. The staff was super friendly and spoke French, German and English. Perfect for tourists. The food came quickly and was delicious.

In my humble opinion, this is THE brasserie to eat well and have a great time in Neuchâtel. Seasonal menu and very intelligently composed. Always quality cuisine despite the often very busy place (better to reserve your table). Nice cellar and excellent choice of beers on tap. Exceptional service, welcoming and without fuss, in a unique Belle-Epoque setting. I have been coming here happily for a long time, and I never tire of it.

After walking around Neuchâtel with our pram for our first visit of the city, we were starting to get tired and 'hangry' of looking in many places and be either not tempted by their menus, spaces or turned away because they are full, we were delighted that the Cardinal, which was recommended to us by 'Bao Boys', found us a table for dinner. We ordered vegetarian food that was so tasty and served with so much professionalism, genuine kindness and care that I know I will keep a very fond memory of that place that I will certainly revisit next time I visit the city! Rien à dire, c'était parfait : déco, vaisselle, verres, pain en accompagnement, Mauler pétillant, goût, service, etc. On s'est régalés !
