Brasserie Lorraine in Bern

Anyone who throws paying customers out of the restaurant (even if they are wearing a uniform) no longer has a place in today's society! If Corona comes back, please don't give the state a "hollow hand" either, you're doing so well that you can throw out people who don't fit in with you ;-) For 100,000 CHF, people in uniform would be good too, right? 😉

Yikes, if you read the last reviews, there seems to be a lot of things wrong... Luckily, I had a different experience: friendly, courteous service, delicious and lovingly prepared food and a cozy atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the service staff is not always friendly. There are two very grumpy, taciturn, answer-shy, lazy people. It's a shame, I won't do them any harm. I just want to drink something or eat something small.

This used to be an open, inclusive safe space for everyone; we spent many wonderful evenings here, with strangers and friends. Over. I don't even know why the service person was bothered by visual contact, but negative behavior is not tolerable and neither is using the wrong tone (since she didn't come out for a long time, I went to the bar to get drinks - I've been reprimanded recently). Joke, we didn't like eating anymore.

10/10 I would go there every weekend if I had the colleagues for it (and the money)

Best vegan brunch, cozy atmosphere, no pressure to consume, what more could you want. (I also recommend the Seitan kebab)

Great ambience, fine food and good drinks

This place offers fresh drinks and homemade food at fair prices. The service is authentic, helpful, (almost always) friendly and pleasant at eye level. Exciting cultural events are organized here. The Brass offers space for people who would otherwise be pushed to the social margins of society; for example, they have an alley shower and free coffee and food for financially weaker people. Cool place, I'll always come back!

After going with my daughter to drink hot chocolate, I later noticed that she had lice, I'm sure it comes from this unsanitary place. We had to shave his head and everyone thinks he's a boy now. On the other hand, we were well received because we are clean, they even played a song by Bob Marley

I don't understand this place. If you don't fit into the picture visually, you will simply receive unfriendly service. I just wanted to have something to eat with my girlfriend.

Alternative and cool restaurant!

Beautiful place where you can eat well. The selection on the menu was diverse and people can get enough even with a smaller wallet. thank you and would love to come back

Bad atmosphere and bad service.

This was one of the nicest dinners I had for a while, glad I was not put off by some bad reviews here. I sat in the garden area that was very nice on a warm summer night. The vibe was welcoming and laid back, as was the waiter, Food very good, quite surprised given that it's a collective. Prices also very reasonable.

Have you ever studied the menu? Voila! It's bursting with food from foreign cultures. This is called cultural appropriation. That's why I consistently avoid such hypocritical places. What should be allowed or said today? This shed has once again offered an enormous platform to those minorities who have no other problems. Because Rastas are racist in nature... It's sad that they allowed it. Get out of people like that!

Very tasty and above all a good atmosphere and great ambience. I waited a little long for my food but it was worth it. The staff is pleasant and the garden with the colorful lights is very beautiful.

Very bad unfriendly service As a guest and as an Italian, I expect the Bolognese to be taken off the menu, you capitalists our cultural heritage. Make something of Switzerland.

Service much too long, 1 hour to get the first dish. The music is only Rap and the sound level is quite high. Apart from the soup, certainly homemade, the rest was ordinary. Damage.

The Brass is THE self-managed cooperative restaurant in Bern. Friendly, very cozy and with delicious food. In summer the garden is fantastic!

We had a lovely time, good vibes and decent prices for lovely food. The menu changes, so I'm sure the experience varies, but there were plenty of pasta options that would suit most diners - and it was good quality!

When choosing dishes in the future, please pay attention to their cultural background. It makes me feel bad when you offer ramen or spaghetti bolognese. It's not about the courts per se. It's about the capitalization of cultural assets without honoring the culture. It is especially hurtful when you use the very food that is so intertwined with your own experiences of identity for your own profit. I also ask you to consider my feelings and adjust your selection accordingly.

So far I've been there three times with the TIF vegan regulars' table. The food was always very tasty. The staff is also friendly. The ambience outside is quite chilled, inside it could have a bit more charm (ok, the lamps are pretty cool btw). What makes me happy is that there has always been a selection of vegan dishes.

Happy group in the middle of the Lorraine. Whether it's bowl, cocoa or soup - something always works. They prefer cash, but it is also possible to pay by card.

Coffee here is only dark water and expensive, staff slow and unfriendly.

Really tasty food and good service! Had a wonderful evening there.

On vacation in the region, we wanted to have coffee and chocolate. When we returned, a strong smell of cassava bothered us. We presented ourselves at the counter but the manager gave priority to all Africans. After 30 minutes of waiting to be served, I ordered the coffees and asked "A Banania and a little black please!". The waiter then threw us out. We didn't understand... We won't come back.

Pure discrimination against white people who live in a free country! Unfortunately, racism only exists from white against black and vice versa, it probably doesn't exist or is not taken seriously.

Very friendly service and the food was excellent. The ambience was also great for my needs, as I prefer a real and honest local pub rather than something forced that conforms to some mold. I will be very happy to come back.

People are excluded and treated unkindly. The behavior towards other people is hurtful and rude. Especially at a time when the restaurant industry isn't doing particularly well. I think the behavior of the guests during the visit must be crucial and not what they wear or how they think.

Suppress freedom of expression and censor unpleasant comments

As a white, no longer very young, Swiss, involuntary bald, normal man, can you drink something there? Unfortunately I didn't find a no go list. Addendum. I was there on Saturday to see for myself. It's not for me. The ambience and staff were rather on the grubby side, the food was quite ok and unfortunately the glass wasn't clean.

Tolerance and respect go completely down the drain. Here guests are discriminated against and categorized based on clothing, hairstyle or culture and are rejected. Reminds me of the apartness in South Africa. Additive: Four SVP National Councilors wanted to have an after-work beer in the Brasserie Lorraine and talk to the people running the place. However, they didn't get any beer or conversation.

How is it possible that such a place could exist in Switzerland in 2022? Me and my friend in military uniform were refused service because according to the waitress their space is “a pacifist and non-militarized zone”??? It smacks of wokism, primary intolerance.
