A small, rustic pub in beautiful Herisau. The lady/service, quick, very friendly and accommodating. If you like meat, this is the place for you. Highly recommended, wood chipper steak with a side dish was simply delicious, juicy. The food came quickly even though the store was full. Our expectations were exceeded. Will definitely come back soon.

The steak is not a steak, but a lump. Inedible! Incidentally, it is not possible to prepare such a large lump of meat at a specific cooking level. You would probably have to cook it for 5 hours or something. For people who like to have too much of everything and taste plays a minor role, it should probably be an insider tip. But the atmosphere is very rustic and great.

We were a group and our first time in Schafräti. The interior looks rustic, vintage, old school, whatever you want to call it. There is still an old rotary telephone hanging in the entrance area - interesting and not commonplace. The operation was tip-top, quick and uncomplicated. The food, stroganoff with chnöpfli, was very good. Changing side dishes and other menus for kids were also no problem. All in all it was a very good, very successful lunch. I would stop there again in a heartbeat if I were to eat in Herisau.

We where searching for a lunch. On google maps we found this place. Looking at the menu we saw the cordon Bleu and decided to Charakter it out. Arriving we saw in the entrance the daily menu. Chicken with rice. When ordering the chicken was out. So they offered a piece of pork. Which was good and with the rice, salad and soup it satisfied my needs. My colleague tried to order the cordon Bleu which was not available for lunch. I suppose they only serve the lunch meal on offer during midday. Price was very reasonable, the food sufficient and well prepared and presented. Personell very happy and Open and also friendly. Service was quick. Defiantly a recommendation if on kind of menu at midday suits you.

The awesome Cordon Bleu where there is 🤣 Went to Schafräti with friends today and have been looking forward to it all week and my joy was confirmed. The food was super tasty, the portion was more than good. We had a really nice evening and laughed a lot and probably entertained the whole restaurant. The service was super good and very friendly. I would love to do so again and again when I visit Switzerland..!!!

Good friendly service, clean restaurant, good bourgeois and always enough to eat, good kitchen + service team.

The meat wasn't really that good this time, but the service caught it very well and responded well. We have often been there for the first time and are still very satisfied.

War mit der Freundin dort. Super Service, gemütliche Atmosphäre. Super leckeres Gutbürgerliches Essen zu einem günstigen Preis. Sehr Empfehlenswert, grosse Portionen, hungern muss man nicht! Werden Garantiert wieder dort essen gehen! Kleiner Tipp für die Größeren Personen Es ist ein Appenzeller Haus das heisst Kopf einziehen. Weil die Decke relativ niedrig ist.

Today I was at the Metzgete in the Schaffraeti restaurant. It was as always, friendly staff, good food and the portions were enough for even those who eat more

A very informal place for a day out with your family and friends and to have some homely food. Unfortunately my choice was not good. And rating is only for that. Next time I will try something else. Schnitzel was my choice, but it didn't suite my taste. The salad and Merlot was really good. And yes, portions are really good.

Waren für ein Abendessen im Schafräti. Urchige Atmosphäre, freundliche Bedienung, überschaubare Auswahl an Speisen und das meiste mit Pommes und Gemüse...wenig einfallsreich. Wenn man dann das ‘normal grosse’ Cordon bleu bestellt, erschlägt einem der Fleischberg auf dem Teller. Eigentlich sind es wohl eher 2 dicke Schweinekoteletts (ohne Knochen) aufeinander gesetzt. Das Verhältnis mit dem Käse kann gar nicht mehr stimmen. Weniger wäre in diesem Fall definitiv mehr.
