Unfortunately we've run out of patience so we can't rate the dishes. Maybe the management needs to consider adjusting operations on sunny weekends to accommodate the rush. Either more or more capable staff or perhaps a little more organization. The whole thing seems a bit chaotic, which certainly didn't help and caused frustration for many guests. Everything is just perfect – wow! We and our guests are completely enthusiastic about the team at the Brustenegg Hut. We celebrated our wedding there last Saturday, October 14th, 2023. From the food, which delighted all the guests with its quality and selection, to the friendly service, which read all of our wishes from our lips, to the ambience, which couldn't have been more comfortable due to the many details, everything was perfect. We were there on a Sunday with nice weather. At 1 p.m. we wanted to eat something with our 2.5 year old son. We had to wait over 1.5 hours for 2 cheese spaetzli and a plate of fries. Yes, admittedly, there were a lot of people and a lot of families who also wanted to eat. But the organization of the service and kitchen is terrible. Guests who arrived later than us had their food beforehand. When I asked the waitress about it, she dismissed me in a very unfriendly and silly manner with “…the kitchen processes the orders one after the other”. When I wanted to ask how it could be that the food at the table next to us was in front of ours, she interrupted me and told me to shut up and ran away. We adults were able to overcome the hunger and noticed from the situation that it would take a long time. But our little son was beginning to lose his patience. With the plate of fries and another cola, everything came to 72.-, a rather high price for this simple dish without meat and without great cooking skills. We asked the staff about it but there was no response, even though she said that the spaetzli were not good. Overall, far too expensive for the quality.

Recently I had the pleasure of experiencing the breathtaking panorama of this mountain restaurant, a view that reveals something new every time you enjoy it. Unfortunately, this was the only positive thing about my visit. Although the panorama was breathtaking, the service didn't even come close to matching the quality of the view. Staff seemed overwhelmed with the most basic tasks, causing delays and a general atmosphere of disarray. It was like sitting in an orchestra with an excellent score but untrained musicians. The menu was remarkably inflexible when it came to dietary preferences. The absolute absence of vegetarian alternatives was very disappointing in this day and age when vegetarian and vegan diets are widespread. The way the staff interacted with guests was strongly reminiscent of the strict protocols of the GDR's National People's Army, creating a feeling of unease that was completely inappropriate in such a relaxing setting. Last but not least, I found the prices to be downright astronomical. Even by Zurich standards, especially considering Bahnhofstrasse, they were outrageous. Overall, this stunning mountain restaurant deserved a much better quality of service. I hope that management takes note of these issues and takes appropriate action to improve the experience of future guests.
