Buvette d'alpage Les Mongerons in Gruyères

We were expecting to eat good food in a good atmosphere with a beautiful view, unfortunately that's not what we found. That evening it was sold out, great for them! Except that suddenly the waitresses were overwhelmed, stressed and were super unpleasant. We always go to the mountains with our children, what a joy to see them flourishing in our mountains, beware of them if they leave the table, a shame! A very small Montgeron plate 17.- We do not recommend and will not return there again.

The unique, family atmosphere and the company of the owners make you feel at home. Cheeses produced on site. The magnificent view of Gruyère and the delicious fondue and voila You can enjoy the flavors of nature! I recommend it with all my heart. Ps it is worth remembering that from the parking lot you would have to climb 700 meters, but believe me, it is worth it :)

A dream spot to enjoy, among other things, macaroni with gruyere to die for or a fondue. The charcuterie plate is incredible as is the double cream on the meringue. Crazy panorama. Great atmosphere. Top!

A lovely view point over Gruyères accessible in a 20-minute walk Simple menu, but everything you would expect from an alpine chalet is there… and it’s excellent!

Sublime setting with a magnificent view of the Alps. Very welcoming and engaging staff. Taking care of your smallest requests. Your efforts will be rewarded thanks to their succulent dishes; I highly recommend the chalet’s macaroni cooked in a cauldron. The quantity is also there. For the more adventurous, don’t hesitate to finish with a good coffee from the house (café mongerons) Bring cash as I am not sure if payment by credit card is possible.

I felt as if I were at my grandparents' house, the welcome was so authentic and warm. The gastronomy is unique in the world. The goat cheese fondue and macaronies are real delights. Homemade sausage is a real treat. 10000% recommended :)

One of the best sites in Gruyère for the landscape

An enchanting place. You have to park the car at the foot of a hill that takes about 15-20 minutes. The goodness of the food and the friendliness of the innkeeper will repay the physical exercise.

Perfect experience despite quite a climb!! The fondues are the best!!

Excellent unique experience with delicious cheese fondue and meringue. It was like being welcomed into a family’s home to warm up by the fire with delicious food on a cold and rainy day. We parked by the road at the bottom and walked less than 20mins up through the beautiful scenery (which included a view of the Montreux castle) It was definitely worth the walk!

A unique experience ! Our efforts on the way up are rewarded with a warm welcome from Odile and delicious alpine macaroni and cheese cooked in a cauldron. The view of Gruyères and the cow bells complete the picture. To finish off the double cream meringue in style, excellent!

Nice and picturesque place. The service was very good and the meal lived up to our expectations. The wine list could use a facelift, but it was still very good.

So it's clearly not accessible to everyone, physically speaking, but the walk to the restaurant/chalet is definitely worth the detour! Very friendly welcome, generous and inexpensive dishes, and the decor... It's magnificent in summer! Little advice, the cafe mongerons school the retina but is a very good surprise!

Suite aux excellents avis, nous avons décidé de nous arrêter dans cette buvette pour déguster un bon repas avec une magnifique vue sur la vallée. Je dois dire que je suis un peu déçu. En effet, l'accueil est moins chaleureux que prévu; à moins d'être du coin. Repas copieux sans plus. Bonne Fondue mais dessert simple; dommage que les ananas sortent des boîtes de conserve. Prix très corrects. Je recommande quand même de s'y arrêter.

This refreshment bar, in the middle of the mountain pastures, is a superb discovery! From the restaurant terrace, the view is breathtaking, a panoramic view of the town of Gruyère and its castle. We ordered a half and half fondue and a double cream meringue, everything was very good, at a very attractive price! The atmosphere is very family and friendly. Please note, don't forget to bring cash, payment is in cash only. :)

Very friendly welcome. The view is breathtaking. You don't necessarily see your house there, but it's as if you were there. Very friendly and fast service. Value for money is very good. Definitely book, especially at the end of the week. Nice little walk to get there. Very good for showing friends around the region. Thank you and see you next time.

Nous avons été chaleureusement accueilli par les propriétaires (et Tartine) et avons dégusté une fondue moitié moitié. Elle était excellente , la vue sur la vallée de gruyère est magnifique. Nous avons terminé avec des meringues à la crème. Le repas fut une belle réussite. Nous reviendrons, c’est sur !

Les propriétaires sont tout simplement charmants. Nous y avons dégusté leurs fameuses meringues à la crème double qui étaient sublimes. La petite randonnée à pied à partir de La Maison du Gruyères était agréable et adaptée à tous âges. Belle activité à faire pour découvrir un endroit typique de la région. Vous n'aurez jamais rien vu de semblable (surtout si vous venez du Canada, comme nous!); les vaches qui se promènent dans les pâturages tandis que d'autres sont couchées dans un endroit séparé mais bien à l'intérieur de l'enceinte du restaurant... à découvrir! Les prix sont absolument incroyables si l'on compare au reste de la Suisse!

Delícius jambon, cadre et paisage magnifique. Une buvette d’alpage qui nous fait plonger merveilleusement dans le passé. Personnel:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This place is amazing. There is a steep hill. To walk up through paddocks of cows. Takes about 20-30 mins (if you are unfit) but is not that bad if you take your time. Walk amongst the cows and cow bells. The food was great and jam assuming very traditional. The view from the top was incredible. There is some space on the left of the main road to park your car. Google Maps will say you can drive up but you definitely cannot. You have to navigate two gates and an electric gate. The people were very nice even though we spoke no French and they spoke no English. They have four options for set menus and also alcarte ordering. We went for the set menu just for ease. They also have a lovely St Bernard dog who will greet you on your way up. We signed the book they have for travellers as well. Would recommend!!!!

Quiet alpine refreshment bar with splendid views of Gruyère. Please note: 10 minutes on foot along a path from the village of Pringy to get there, as the place is inaccessible by car.

Une jolie petite grimpette avant d'arriver au chalet. Magnifique panorama depuis la terrasse! Par contre ne pas avoir peur du bruit, la pièce est petite et nous sommes arrivés à 18 donc très bruyant! Tous est dans la simplicité et l'ambiance chalet est garantie et les mouches aussiLes macaronis servis à même le chaudron sont super bons et il faut bien remuer jusqu'au fond avant de servir car les oignons se cachent tout au fond on y retournera certainement!

Une petite marche de vingt minutes dans un superbe paysage de Gruyère, arrivée à la buvette, panorama toujours aussi spectaculaire et reposant, petit apéro, et au menu délicieux macaronis du chalet au goût authentique, cuisiné au feu de bois, vous pouvez également déguster une bonne fondue, moitier, moitier ou au vacherin, le personnel et le patron sont sympathiques, c'est très bien.

une buvette qui se mérite, et oui il faut venir à pied. Les meilleurs macaronis de chalet, loin à la ronde, fait au feu de bois, servis à même le chaudron directement sur la table. Simple mais chaleureux et accueillant. Authentique.
