Café Lang in Zürich

Here the staff and the kitchen seem to change every season. I used to be frustrated by the hipster attitude, today I would say: quality is better, service is often better, food is (even) weirder, there is no decent meal in the afternoon, prices are higher. No breakfast for late risers here either. But top location. You almost can't avoid it if you live here, as the other restaurants on Limmatplatz haven't improved.

The fact that hardly any staff speak German is unfortunately normal. But if something is ordered and the staff has no idea, you have to explain and show it. And then it still comes out wrong - something like that doesn't work!!!!

For me, it's too expensive. I didn't go a second time because of the price, a short walk away, drinks were cheaper.

From the outside, the café looked inconspicuous for a long time. But as soon as you step through the sliding door, you are greeted by a restaurant with its own character. The food menu is clear, but offers a good selection of snacks. Very friendly staff. We felt super comfortable

Visited La Tartina for my birthday and it was fantastic! The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch. A perfect spot for any occasion! Make sure to visit while it’s still there!

I was snobbed in a way that I have never encountered even in a 5 star hotel. I dared to miss a reservation sign on Sunday morning and was so shooed away and gaslighted that I had to leave immediately. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before

We ate at La Tartina pop up thinking it was just a mozzarella bar, boy were we surprised it is so much more!!! We had an amazing tasting menu, every dish was unique and delicious. If I had to choose my favourite it would be the slow cooked beef short ribs! En güete

The brunch was delicious and the service was excellent. Unfortunately, the Shakshuka no longer exists, which is why we actually came. But the offer is still very appealing.

Digging this pop up concept, now there’s la Tartina which we really enjoyed. We had the tasting menu, the braised beef with the garlic mash was otherworldly delicious and soft. The passion fruit cheesecake was very luscious. I will be back again before they’re gone!

Loving the new pop-up concept by Café Lang, currently there is an Italian restaurant called “La Tartina”. They serve loads of tasty dishes with so much love for details, best experienced with the tasting menu which we had with arrancini, tartar, burrata, carpaccio, cannoli and cheesecake. If you love burrata, mozzarella and truffles, this is your go-to place until end of February!

Beautiful restaurant, fine brunch and super friendly service! We will be back!

Culinary delights at brunch in Café Lang The brunch menu at Café Lang in Zurich impresses with creative and tasty dishes. Highlights are the “Salmon Avocado Bun” and the “Spinach Bun”, both served with hollandaise sauce and complemented by yogurt with seasonal fruits. The Grilled French Toast offers a savory option, while the Waffle Love and Açai Bowl are sweet alternatives. Each dish is rounded off with a sweet surprise and pink grapefruit juice, making for a complete brunch experience.

The brunch was excellent and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend it to everyone.

Not vegan friendly - the only vegan option was a super small portion of 5 burned gyosa dumplings for 14.50 chf. Also you have to pay extra .50 chf to have oatmilk jn your coffee. The ambience and the music was very nice though.

Highly recommended restaurant! Great food, drinks, and especially service. It's best to ask for Jörg or Luc, so you're guaranteed an unforgettable evening.

Went there for brunch. The service is amazing but the food choices are very limited and overpriced! The cappuccino was fifty percent foam. Sorry never again

Saturday morning 9:30 a.m.: half of the tables occupied, the other half reserved for 10:00 a.m. / 10:15 a.m. We wanted to drink coffee at a table for 20 minutes. Not possible. At the standing bar or outside! After all these years, I have never been received so inflexibly and arrogantly. January. Alternative Carredda.

I went with some friends for the brunch. 2 of us arrived a little first, so the waitress asked us if we wanted to have something. I told her no, I had to wait for the rest of the people at the table to arrive. Ok, she brought me a glass of tap water, "such a nice gesture" Imagine my surprise when i saw on the bill she charge 6CH in addition to the 46CH of the break fast for the damn glass of tap water I hadn't even ordered. Plus it took them almost an hour to bring us the breakfast, it's definitely not worth it.

Brunch is absolutely not recommended!!! Once again a typical Zurich restaurant. Cheap quality, juice not fresh, fruits all from a can 🤢, sweet surprise is a cheap cappuccino cream.

The staff just chats behind the counter. I had to get up and limp over three times. Nogo.

The Korean sandwiches are beyond, absolutely delicious! Great staff, always busy as it is a popular Café with a high number of tables to serve.

Our visit to Café Lang today was a complete disaster! When the coffee was served, our cups were shoved among the previous guests' dirty dishes and other trash. The "service", which definitely doesn't deserve the name, promised to clear away the rubbish left by our predecessors and to bring the obligatory glass of water that should have been served to the café. Neither had happened 20 minutes later and when we asked to finally clear and clean the table and bring the water, we were promised that this would happen immediately. After another 15 minutes we gave up and left the restaurant. When we asked to take another look at the table, which was still littered with rubbish, and told us that we would write a corresponding review, the waiter simply shrugged his shoulders. A restaurant simply has to decide whether it wants to be open on Sunday or not. If it decides to do this, the quality of service must be ensured, which unfortunately was definitely not the case today. Just cashing in and not offering anything is not possible!

Although the restaurant offers promising food and an interesting concept, our visit was VERY disappointing. Unfortunately the food was cold and some side dishes were missing. Despite repeated requests, we either didn't receive it at all or received it late. The service and communication were extremely poor, our wishes and requests were ignored. Unfortunately the restaurant's potential is severely compromised by the unprofessional behavior of the staff. It's a shame and wouldn't recommend anyone to go there, the Instavideos and pictures are deceiving.

Unfortunately disappointing! We discovered the restaurant with the innovative concept on social media and couldn't wait to try the food there. The warm drinks were tasty, but the brunch variations could be improved. The staff seemed very overwhelmed and chaotic. This resulted in longer waiting times (up to 1 hour for food!) and inattention. Even after repeated requests, missing side dishes, such as bacon or maple syrup, were not brought. Accordingly, the food lacked taste and the constant waiting also made the food cold. The 4 side dishes that make up the new concept were also disappointing. We were served another juice instead of cereal. This was justified by a lack of supplies. However, this should have been communicated from the beginning and not only at your own request. Unfortunately that doesn't work at all. Mistakes are human and ok, but as a customer you are at least happy about transparent communication and good service. When everything is wrong, as in this case, you only lose customers like us. A pity!

The waiter was absolutely overwhelmed and didn't even greet us when we came in. He wanted to send all the guests out and didn't even keep a waiting list. Like all the other guests, we left the restaurant after waiting 20 minutes. Too bad!

The drinks were the only positive thing about this visit.Very disappointing, wouldn't recommend the brunch to anyone. After an hour of waiting we only received the food. A lot of things were forgotten and we didn't get the right side dishes (only at the end when we asked we were told, yes, we've run out, sorry. But everyone who ordered after us and before us received the right side dishes.) We then asked and after 30 minutes we still received nothing. After the second time only one was brought and the food was cold. We left the other things at that because we just didn't feel like waiting any longer. The waiter often ignored us and only commented on it at the end. And blamed it on the kitchen, even though he hadn't communicated ANYTHING for so long. In the end he gave us a 10 CHF discount, but it would be nice to have better communication and for the food to be served with more confidence. Mistakes can happen, but how you deal with them afterwards doesn't work. That's why I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I had to wait a total of about 20-40 minutes for my coffee.

Very bad service. The waiter was rude and probably drunk. At 10:00 a.m. this waiter in question had a strong alcohol odor. This is very unfortunate as I am otherwise very happy with Café Lang. I would never hire such staff. A real shame!

Food is mostly good, coffee as well :) Amazing spots in the sun and peoplewatching! They have changing lunchmenus, better check them out first, not always updated. You may be lucky with the service, or you won't... Some are sweet and on it, others grumpy and not very switched on.

I tried everything here at Café Lang. Everything is delicious and I really find peace here. The variety of food and drinks is impressive and offers something for every taste. The ambience is cozy and relaxing, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Whether for breakfast, lunch or just a relaxing break, this café is definitely worth a visit.

Disappointed- bagel tasted like it was two days old for the brunch service. Super dry, nearly no sauce and extremely over priced!

To give 5* I have to come again and then try the brunch. If it's as fine as the Taucherli chocolate and the plum cake and the service is just as friendly and everything is served so quickly, then it's perfect. Great place with its own original (and original) atmosphere. Sit down and enjoy something delicious in between!

Had the salmon brunch plate and it looked amazing but tasted average. Not even the coffee was good, overall an average experience, not worth what you pay for.

Amazing! Service is phenomenal and the croissant was just perfect. Also loved that the awesome guy at the bar who served me offered milk alternatives without even having to ask. Definitely a must visit.

We came for brunch, and it was disappointing. They only had one menu option and if you wanted eggs, you have to order and pay separately...the plate comes to over 30chf per person. The coffee was cold and the food was ok. I wouldn't go there again! Not worth it.

They used to have an amazing brunch menu with white beans and eggs and many more choices. Now it’s 27 CHF for spinach on bread with a side of grapefruit juice and some small Birchermuesli and pay extra if you want eggs with it. We ordered shakshuka because of the eggs and it was tomato passata with one small egg in the middle. No veggies. No onions. Not really shakshuka. Absolute rip off.

Good atmosphere to chill and enjoy an otherwise gloomy afternoon. Coffee is great. Staff is friendly and attentive. Reminiscent of the old town of Zurich making it an overall authentic experience. Highly recommended meeting place for a coffee!

Firstly, you are sat down at a dirty table. Then you are ignored for 20 minutes even though nothing was going on. Then you see the service staff having something to talk about among themselves and keeping the guests waiting... don't come here anymore.

it wasn’t something for me, the location was super nice and authentic, but the staff didn’t clean the table, even the table was wet and the hot chocolate we ordered wasn’t hot, only lukewarm, for 7 fr. it should really be better :(

We reserved a table for 2 last Sunday, as we were attracted by the really well-made website. It was truly a disappointing experience, from the uncomfortable chairs and tables, to the food which was not at all that inviting. Wrong choice of menu in my humble opinion, given that in all the brunch menus there was always birchermüesli, saisonal früchte (fresh fruit) they served us a bunch of grapes, and I don't understand the reason for this choice given that I don't It's not even in season. Not to mention the sweet surprise, which was nothing more than a wrong tiramisu, as it felt like having to eat biscuits soaked in coffee with cream. That said, the service was fast and not at all rude. Very kind.

I think the long is good. The criticism is justified. However, they are just people. You shouldn't look at the staff like that. I think it's the level of poor quality that counts. I always tip big too. That makes me feel good.

Nice café actually - unfortunately there is insufficient heating. Currently (January 2023) you can only enjoy the café wearing a winter jacket. It's uncomfortably cold. It's a shame, that's only enough for me in the summer months.

Great food, amazing service and very aestheric interior. The price is too high versus the portion you receive for brunch! The ideas with the glasses of different food is really nice but I was still hungry after one portion. This is never a good sign.

It used to be one of my favourite places for brunch (before the pandemic). You got a large plate of food with fresh fries, granola, strawberries, etc etc. Amazing roastbeef. A couple months ago I decided to go again... Now - uninspired, small portions, not particularly great and certainly not worth that money. Compare food pictures from 2019 and earlier. As if a new owner decided to cut costs drastically.

Very nice atmosphere. The retro-hipster look suits the location very well. We received a very friendly welcome and the homemade lemonade was excellent. Gladly again.

Overly priced average coffee in Zurich, paired with awful service (you know, the usual Swiss service with waiters that never smiles, never come to take your order, when they do they clearly seem bothered by you, and then spill half the coffee on the table).

The place is very nice, the waiters are friendly and the Chai Latte is very delicious!

Please avoid this place. Table service is a foreign concept, the staff was understaffed and were practically invisible to the waiter. If there was contact, it was extremely unpleasant. Disrespectful treatment of guests.

This morning Leona wanted pancakes so we came to the city and she says these pancakes are really good. I agree. Their pancake dish is the right size for both of us. Cool interior, good service. I’m happy we came.

The pancakes were a tasty but small not worth 27 Francs. The hand Bagel was uninspiring and the two little Hollandaise sauce and the factory ham does not justify the price. Each coffee with 6 francs and they were tiny. Each course was accompanied by random things like old watermelon, muesli, trifle and some grapefruit juice. Visually appealing good for social media but a disappointing breakfast

Ordered a hot chocolate with Taucherli yesterday. Get a 2cl glass of lukewarm chocolate. The price: 8 Fr.! It almost blew me away. For comparison, in Tibits 4 cl with Taucherli costs 7.70 Fr. Since there are never menus on the tables, I wasn't able to find out the price beforehand.

For a business event, I organized an aperitif for 25 people at the LANG Zurich. After an email and a short phone conversation, everything was organized. The separate room was reserved for us for the entire evening. There were delicious aperitifs, falafel and pinse (veggi + meat) plus great drinks from the bar. The service was very courteous and competent. We had a great evening. Many thanks to Ibrahim and his team!

The oat cappuccino was delicious, however the service staff seems to be demotivated and is pretty disengaged which results in the atmosphere feeling not so friendly.

Been there for Sunday Brunch. Café has a nice vibe, staff is really nice too. The food is too expensive for what you get. Portions are very small, literally paid 65 fr for 1 average bagel, 2 pancakes (topping is 2 thin banana slices) and 2 coffees..

the café is cute and the staff is nice. but i’m lactose intolerant and the options for non-dairy milk was one option and they also charge you 1.- for it, which is just a too much, in my opinion.

This coffee was wonderful. However, since the owner changed, it has been terrible. So the cappuccino is still good but the service is unfriendly and incompetent. I don't like writing negative reviews, but if you complain about something (ordered 2 croissants but didn't receive them) you won't be taken seriously and you won't receive an apology. The staff expects tips, which I think is okay. But not if the service is unfriendly and there is no table service anymore.

Although I wanted to try brunch here, they serve it only weekends...and I came here on weekdays unfortunately. But still they have simple and tasty lunch that comes with soup or salad. I chose soup and it was basil based soup and tasty. The pizza looks small but it's fulfilling with spinach on it. I will definitely come back for brunch.
