Café Noordlicht in Schaffhausen

A nice little café with very friendly service ♥️ the bagel was very tasty!

Unfortunately, due to the short stay, I only drank a freshly made, great cappuccino...

Food is good, though not that good to come again and put up with the waiter’s attitude and superiority level. In 7 years since I moved to Schaffhausen this was the worst service ever.

Bagels created with a lot of love... The Bichermüesli is also recommended!

If a lot of people make a lot of noise, acoustics are bad.

I've been here several times - basically everything was perfect! Coffee and cake taste very good, with coffee there is a glass of water and something sweet. Today I ordered gluten free poppy seed cake - it tasted very good thanks to the nuts and orange it wasn't dry - delicious! The atmosphere is nice - there are daily newspapers and magazines to leaf through, candles and fresh flowers on the tables! However, tables are abnormally close together and there is no room for a private conversation and privacy anyway :( You have the feeling that everyone is somehow sitting together - just too tight! It's also expensive here - a piece of cake was CHF 5.80 for two coffees and we paid €17 for a piece of cake. What is positive: You can pay here with EC card or cash in € and CHF. Staff was very friendly and toilets were clean. I would happily recommend this cafe.

Small, very nice coffee/bistro. It has about 12 tables so you can easily find space. The selection is great and both the bagel and the cake tasted very good. The owner is very nice. Price wise it was a bit expensive but worth the price.

I would like to share my positive experience at Café Noordlicht. The food was not only delicious, but also attractively presented. The friendly staff contributed to a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I went there with my daughter to have breakfast. She has celiac disease and we were already wondering whether they even offered anything gluten-free. When we asked about it, we said that she could actually have everything gluten-free... And really. There was delicious gluten-free bread and much more! Everything is just right here!!!! It's now our favorite café in Schaffhausen 😊

Delicious coffee, always accompanied by water and something sweet

Lunch menu was good and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately we only received our dish without meat. After waiting we had the whole dish and it tasted very good. Coffee is very good.

They were very friendly and the flowers decorated each table made me feel good. The menu composition that changed every day was also the best. There were tables in the outdoor plaza, so the staff seemed very busy, but I was grateful for the good care they took.

We actually didn't want to go to the restaurant anymore after we had bad experiences with the service a year or two ago. But since we didn't know anything else, we went there this week and were pleasantly surprised. Very tasty food, fair for the price. Fine iced tea and nice ambience. And the service was pretty nice too. Maybe we'll go there more often now.

I had an excellent visit to this cafe. The coffee they serve is truly exceptional, and I can't recommend it enough. What sets this place apart, though, is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They made my visit feel warm and welcoming. If you're a coffee lover looking for a welcoming atmosphere, this cafe is a must-visit.

My partner and I had a late brunch here and found the food to be good with good service. Ordered: 1. Iced latte: good quality espresso, frithef milk, and excellent presentation (glass straw) 2. Egg toast: nothing too special but got the job done 3. Poke bowl with avocado and veggies: NOT to be confused with what Americans might consider a poke bowl--this did not have any raw fish in it but that was our mistake ☺️

We came to eat shortly before 12pm, there were a lot of people. The service was very good and friendly and after just 20 minutes they served our daily menu😊 The restaurant is very nice and there are also delicious cakes and of course delicious cinnamon rolls, we would love to come back!!

Unfortunately I can't judge the offer because after waiting 20 minutes we got up and left without ordering. The waitress never showed up at the outside area. We just saw them scurrying into the house when we arrived. Guests at the next tables also looked at each other perplexed.

If the service wasn't so terribly bad, it would be 5 stars. But unfortunately the almost endless waiting time for a simple drink order spoils any joy of visiting this actually great café, which also offers delicious food and drinks. That's really a pity. It would be great if the service concept were adjusted.

Laid-back with a Scandinavian touch, they offer light snacks, poke bowls , good coffee. Amiable staff.

The food is good, the restaurant is nice. But not recommended if you are more than two people... In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is not that good... service has its own kind of friendliness. Definitely NOT BAD!

My absolute favorite café in Schaffhausen! The food is really delicious and there are the very best homemade cheesecakes and cinnamon rolls (confirmed by a Swede😉). The selection of drinks is also great, the price-performance ratio is right and the staff is also super nice. There is a small negative point when it comes to the volume when it is busy inside. It's a bit uncomfortably loud at times because it's relatively small. You could possibly work more with fabrics/cushions that would dampen the noise a bit... But they have lots of seats outside where you can enjoy the sun when the weather is nice.

The cafe was actually my favorite cafe in terms of decor and food and drinks, but the waitress (strong accent, brown hair and glasses) is a disaster! Totally rude and arrogant. She has also made it clear that she doesn't like dogs. When I asked if I could get him some water, she replied that he couldn't get any because it would be in the way and he would have to sit outside with me next time. As long as she works there, we won't go there anymore. At most when she's free.

The chef was so lovely and helpful and came out to speak to me to help me find something suitable for vegans. I had an avocado and tomato bagel which was nice. One of the few places open on a Sunday till 5 in the area.

Been there twice, have nothing to complain about. Very tasty and service was good.

Waitress who spoke German with an accent was extremely unfriendly on the phone. She took the liberty of hanging up the phone with an almost disgusted tone after I politely asked for a table reservation. I don't understand.

One of the best cafes in Schaffhausen. Somewhat limited space and reservations recommended. Great outdoor area in summer in a best location in Schaffhausen's old town. Freshness is top priority. Small but fine selection of cold and warm dishes, but of perfect quality. Ambience rating very cozy in Mediterranean chic. Staff extremely professional.

I was lucky enough to be in this cafe, albeit briefly, after a few minutes me and my classmates were "politely" kicked by a cafe employee, apparently because of our inappropriate looks, it was very unpleasant and inappropriate for a service -Staff, I would not recommend this establishment.

Terrible staff who approached our group of 11 and said there was no room for us even though there was plenty of room. The woman with the glasses is completely unfriendly to the guests. The impression of this "cafe" is terrible. We wanted to warm up after a long walk, apparently the woman judged us by our tourist clothes and therefore didn't want to let us into her cafe, even though the other people annoyed her with a smile. I give this establishment a -1 for the terrible treatment of guests and total disrespect.

We went on a Saturday and it was quite busy. We ordered two cappuccinos which were delicious. Unfortunately, the service was very slow. It also could have been more friendly.

Not recommendable… Small and narrow location. Overpriced. The service staff is unmotivated and speaks poor German, but at the same time is incredibly unfriendly and arrogant (lady with gold glasses). It wasn't my first but definitely my last visit.

EXCELLENT. Very well located on the main street of Schaffause, this café and restaurant does not have a large capacity but an immense and delicious cuisine to offer you. The same goes for coffees and pastries. Really very good.

The food is always an experience, not only looks like a work of art, it also tastes excellent and at absolutely fair prices. By far the best espresso in the city. :)

Simply top, delicious bagels and lunch menus. The highlight are the homemade cakes, definitely try them! The only point of criticism I could make is that sometimes you have to wait a bit long. Otherwise everything was great!

We've been waiting for a bagel for 50 minutes. When we asked if it would still take, we only got a snippy answer. Thanks but definitely not anymore.

Small and cozy café with a large terrace. In winter there are chairs around the fire. Also a wooden roof with high tables to enjoy winter drinks. Nice atmosphere and friendly service (almost always). Small Swedish menu with delicious bagels and delicious homemade iced tea. Delicious Homemade Cake.

We were looking forward to a breakfast in Noorflicht. There were many free tables, so we asked the waitress if the four of us could sit at the front window. For some unknown reason (it wasn't reserved) she didn't want to do this, so we had to sit at a table at the back towards the toilet. The passage was very narrow there because of the counter, so the space was very uncomfortable. So we left the café again and the service employee snapped “Welcome back” after us. We certainly won't...

Very nice shop. Homemade cakes (very tasty). The coffee is delicious. The staff very friendly and helpful. Gladly again. A must for anyone who likes to drink good coffee and enjoy delicious homemade cakes.

A very nice cafe. The coffee is excellent from the roastery a few shops away. The cafe is in a great location in the pedestrian zone and is easy to reach. You can also have lunch here :). Delicious. SPECIAL: All cakes are homemade and homemade. They taste DELICIOUS 🥰

We really enjoyed this place for a late lunch and will gladly come back. The service is very friendly, they have an excellent choice of food and they cater to everyone and every taste, you're not forced to eat vegan or vegetarian food if you don't want to. The bagel I had was very tasty. They know how to use the coffee machine (unlike many restaurants that serve a bitter coffee) and include a glass of water with it. Their homemade cakes are delicious. My only wish for next time is to have a toaster for bagels :)

The service is not pleasant! We went into the cafe and it was full, of the free tables there was one for 4 people and one for two. Very narrow and small among two equally busy ones. We were told to change seats, otherwise if 4 people came, they would have nowhere to sit. Charming! I got the complete impression that the two of us were not welcome here. We waited a long time until we could place an order, there were only two girls and they were getting stitched up, we needed to take at least someone else for the weekend. They took the order and immediately forgot what they ordered, they brought the wrong thing. There is no food, only sweets. I wanted to be able to eat at least a sandwich. In any case, our order was quite tasty, but we have no desire to return here again!

The menu promises something delicious, breakfast was good. Ambience a bit cool. After a few minutes, the waitress pointed out to us that happy laughter was not possible in the restaurant because it would echo too loudly.

Fortunately the terrace is very large otherwise I wouldn't even have seen it. Excellent coffee, I'm very picky and very good pastries. 1st service 👌

I've been there twice and I think it's good and the bedining is good, I know where I'm talking about, I also work in the serice, I'm also a waiter, I know how it happens and the fact that you have to wait a bit to pay means you just have to have a bit of understanding keep it up

Never had such bad service. Colleagues were more important than other guests. Some people got up again because there was no service. Waited 25 minutes for payment. Oh yes, the elderberry iced tea was delicious.

Unfriendly service. The service is unfriendly and arrogant. I am a very understanding person, but the way she treated me was completely wrong! It was like I'm nothing! I wanted to order a menu with for courses and wanted to reserve a table for me and my friend for Saturday but I've lost my desire and ordered out of courtesy the burrata salad and something to drink. I've never eaten a salad so fast just for the sake of being able to leave. I will NEVER EVER go there again for the rest of my life! I was there alone for lunch to find out in advance what the service, the food and the reservation was like because my colleague and I planned to have breakfast there for 4 hours on the following Saturday and then have lunch as I always do usually do. At lunchtime when I wanted to inquire, I saw that there were only 4 people there besides me, there were a lot of free seats, so I sat at a table for 4 because I would have been nice and protected from the rain there compared to the other tables. The service came and asked me harshly in a tone that is not appropriate for a customer: "How many are you? Please sit at another table because of the rain." I just thought - I'm planning on eating a 4-course meal and someone sends me from the rain-protected place to a table for two where I'll be rained on just because I'm alone?! - but I didn't tell her that and gave her the inappropriate tone she gave me: "Then I'll move around, but can I still order? And can I please reserve the table there by the window for two people on Saturday morning, please? " She said snidely with an expression that was almost arrogant: "Yes, you can order. But on Saturdays you can't reserve a table, otherwise I have to reserve for everyone, but that's also on the website." Since I lost the desire and actually just wanted to get away from there, I politely ordered a drink and a burrata salad, which I devoured within 5 minutes in order to get away quickly instead of the 4-course meal that I had originally planned to eat. When I asked to pay, the waitress suddenly became friendly and waited with her wallet, probably hoping for a tip. I acted as if I was dreaming, but all I thought was that she didn't even deserve a tip of CHF 1 from me, even though I normally tip at least CHF 5. I'll never come back and if someone wants to go there with me, I won't want to and if they ask me why, I'll describe my visit there the same way I do here.

Nice location. Far too few staff for the size of the restaurant. Tense mood. Waiting times are incredibly long. Reordering is practically impossible.

After enjoying a very tasty café, which we had to wait forever to order, we wanted to pay with an EC card! This was rejected first! Then we say that there was an EC device and asked to be allowed to pay with it! There was an unpleasant discussion with the waitress She really wanted cash! After some back and forth we were able to pay with EC. When the rest of the family was in the toilet I saw the waitress whispering something to our grandma, when I asked my grandma what was said we were so horrified by the content and interference in our family affairs and cross-border nature of the service (comments on family matters behind our back) An absolute impudence to interfere in the family affairs of the customers!

A cozy and beautifully decorated cafe with great service, homemade iced teas and delicious bagels. The Noordlicht is one of my absolute favorite cafés, as well as those of my friends :))
