Unfortunately the coffee was very bitter and the price was way too high. A latte macchiatto with oat milk CHF 6.10.

Really a plesant surprise, I took a tiramisu cappucino and it is really nice. Prices are tylical swiss prices but the place is cosy if you wait for the train or to go to aeroport and you can charge your phone. The pastery seems nice too but I didnt try. Great

I had a cappuccino intenso. Taste perfect. Not scalded, not too hot or cool, milk foam with a pleasant density. The Spettacolo can't do anything for the ambience at Basel station. The Basel train station is simply not particularly comfortable. The service was efficient, but not supernaturally friendly. As a customer, conveying a little more joy is simply great and makes up a large part of the coffee experience.

Wifi didn't work, had to use the regular slow Wi-Fi from the train station where you have to share your number. Apart from that, ok.

I ordered a latte macchiato and a customer in front of me ordered a cappuccino. The customer in question took my latte macchiato with him and then his cappuccino was poured into a cup and a little milk added. Then there was a stupid comment that that would be the same. Given the prices, I think that's pretty bold. So that was my last visit. Note: After my complaint, I had very friendly contact with a clerk and I find it remarkable that customer dissatisfaction is addressed so well. There are a lot of plus points for this!

Amazing - if you want bad coffee, you need not to look any further. In fact, Cafe Spettacolo seems to to offer consistently bad coffee through their locations all around Switzerland, Zug, Zurich, and now Basel.. Bravo for bad quality.

Chaos when ordering. I ordered a large latte macchiato with low-fat milk. I was supposed to get a normal-sized café latte with oat milk. The person at the window looks at you and doesn't understand anything. I only got my wish after I checked. The lady in front of me got cold milk and had to complain. The latte itself was delicious

After having an amazing coffee somewhere else in Basel in the morning, I was hoping for a second round of good coffee luck when I visited Caffè Spettacolo. There was one barista in charge of coffee and two other staff serving and taking payments etc. This seemed promising and I was hoping the barista knew what he was doing. They also have oat as an alternative milk so that was also good. Well… my coffee tastes burnt so I guess he didn’t clean the portafilter or the machine very well. Such a disappointment… I took 2 sips and had to put the CHF5.10 “latte” in the bin. I guess I won’t be coming back…

Went to cafe today Monday 2 October as knew I would get good coffee. WHAT A 😞 disappointment. Think they have stopped using goffee in their cappuccino. Had no flavour. Asked for another shot. Still made no difference to taste. Will not go here again. Shame was always good in the past

Perfect opening time (since 5am) for early travelers. It’s very nice to have somewhere to stay in after an early train.

Unfortunately, it was the third time that I ordered a matcha latte and it practically only tasted like milk... After asking to increase it, they mixed the powder in with a spoon, which led to lumps and gave it a floury taste... I ask you to give your staff the right measurements!! The matcha latte tastes much better in Olten!! Thank you very much! Otherwise, extremely friendly staff🔆

Bought a cafe latte for 6.20 around 5pm today. The coffee is absolutely terrible. Watery, cinnamon flavor (why?). Never again. A real puddle.

I would never go there again in my life. The staff are rude to the customers. Disrespectful and for two peaks they only give me 30rp back. I don't know where the old staff are. They were great

At Basel Station, you can have a quick coffee and bread while looking down at the train before boarding the train! The price is not cheap, and coffee and bread are 1 franc more expensive if you eat in rather than take out!

Tight space conditions. Employees seem tense. Coffee was ok, the summit with ham was too mushy and too expensive. The concept of cream, sugar or even clearing away is not clear to many customers. Therefore it looks rather dingy.

Prompt service, friendly personnel. Can't go wrong with cafe creme and croissant. A perfect place to wait on your next train adventure in Basel train station.

In addition to the fact that the coffee didn't taste good, we waited for 10 minutes for a coffee and a latte freddo. During the waiting time at the counter, so we were clearly visibly impatient while waiting, 6 customers were served who ordered after us. However, the employee who took our order seemed to have no interest in serving us and continued to chat happily with a colleague who was standing behind the counter in private clothing. An arrogant apology is no longer enough for me. It's a shame that the coffee really wasn't good either.

I had coffee, the coffee was just regular normal (not bad) coffee, but at a price as it where the best coffee on the world. And i see on your reviews a lot of comments related to the relation price- quality. But all the answers are only about the quality. Not related to the price that is really absurdly expensive. So i am really disappointed in two ways. But it's really important to put in first place the price, because this is not a fair price at all. Even if the coffee would be really really good, you can buy one Kg of that coffee for the price you do an Expresso. It's just ridiculous.

Dear management team please no feedback, these are just big words but that's it. Unfortunately we are in transit otherwise we would have sought the conversation. The tables were not cleaned, see photos, we were at the table for about 20 minutes and nothing happened. and that in Basel I don't want to know what the kitchen etc. looks like. We cannot recommend this restaurant more highly.

Disappointing. How can service staff work in a coffee shop if they don’t listen what has been ordered? I don’t have a soft voice and it was not loud inside. My order = Caffe Freddo was apparently misheard and I was being served a regular coffee, which is hot. Freddo means cold, by the way, so I trust a barista knows the blatant difference between temperatures. As is quite in a busy train people need to rush to their trains, so I needed to leave my piping hot café créme behind. That’s CHF 4.40 for some publicity. You are welcome. Little piece of advice: if you are not sure what the order has been, just double check, our body has been equipped with an organ called mouth.

Mostly friendly staff. Unfortunately, the tables on the Passarelle are rarely or not wiped down and the floor is often full of breadcrumbs. Not very nice to look at.

It's a nice little restaurant that I will visit again... the staff was open-minded and the food was very good. Ideal for people with time but there is something for when you're hungry.

A properly organized café, with delicacies that are not found everywhere, and there is also a large window where it is possible to see the arriving and departing trains on the lower floor while relaxing perhaps with a nice coffee.

I feel I have to modify my rating... I was a happy and engaged customer with Spettaco. I'm a quite often frequent customer of Spettacolo in Basel but in the recent months happen more often that I don't get the coffee I ask for when I say"Grosse Latte macchiato mit mandeln milch". Sometimes is small, sometimes is not mandeln, sometimes is a bit slow, sometimes the coffee is a bit bitter... Is not a cheap Coffeeshop for not receiving what you ask for

Very friendly staff and good drinks with a great view of the trains arriving. So definitely recommended. Unfortunately, in winter it is rather cold inside, so you have to drink your drink in a winter jacket.

A welcome even colder than a prison door at Basel SBB station. Supposedly we had difficulty ordering in German from an employee, she left to serve other customers, leaving us behind. Fortunately a friendly and generous young man finished taking the order when he saw the situation. In short, for the politeness of the first employee, we will come back. We felt insulted.

On a sunny Wednesday afternoon I thought of having coffee and since the Spettacolo was nearby and I didn't want to be influenced by the bad reviews here, I decided to go to the coffee shop. I finally ordered a so-called “cold brew latte” and quickly discovered that it didn’t taste good. Now I was sitting there having my coffee and was completely disappointed :( Never again, sorry...

It’s always a pleasure to have my wake up coffee at Spettacolo, SBB Basel and greeted cheerfully at any hour! Thank you Hatice and Team you guys are truly a treasure at Spettacolo and SBB!

It's very good when you're on the move and going on a trip, it's still a little early, but you can spend your time sensibly with a coffee. Sandwich, LARGE COFFEE CUP, CAPÜCCINO are very good here. Cafe to go. Sandwiches to TAKE AWAY.

Probably one of the horrible, actually inedible espressos that I've had in Basel so far... Sorry folks, you'll have to help me out. It can hardly be the cafe machines. Setting, cleaning, water quality etc. If you were only 100m away from the train station, you would have no chance of surviving in the market. There are so many excellent alternatives in the area...

The place looks good, but upon arrival I was ignored by both waiters to attend to other people that had arrived well after me (and coincidentally in both cases the other customer was Swiss). I couldn't complain since my German is really bad, and felt so bad by being so bluntly ignored that I left without buying anything. Will never go back there!

A coffee shouldn't be called "Spettacolo" if you can't even make a cappuccino. This consists of milk, in which you can just about taste the taste of the coffee (which in a cappuccino should consist of an espresso). A tiny cup of course , no cocoa on top and the whole thing for 5.50 Fr.- Very disappointing.

A complete abuse of Italian coffee culture. Instead of using the name “Spettacolo”, “Peter’s Kaffeehaus” would probably be more appropriate. In addition to the fact that the employees are not trained at all to make real coffee (probably because the owner doesn't know this), they ignore every request from the customer. I don't expect the same quality as in Italy, but at least that my order will be made as I said it. You can mention 100 times that you want your cappuccino with “a lot of foam” and not a lot of milk (which is how it is actually made) and you still end up with a milk coffee (so-called cup) -> which, by the way, is in Italy doesn't exist, that's why the latte macchiato was invented. It's your luck that Switzerland doesn't have a coffee culture. Dear Spettacolo team Thank you for your answer. However, that's not entirely true with the email; because if I hadn't replied, you wouldn't have been able to send me the voucher. Thanks for the clarification, but I have trained in gastronomy and know how a cappuccino is made. In addition, my main concern was the point that your employees completely ignore your wishes.
