Excellent place. The people who serve are very friendly. We don't speak the language and they spoke to us in Spanish. Very delicious food 😋

The frozen burger pattie tasted floury and was detrimental to the burger, which was actually delicious. Fresh burger meat would be a lot better here. The rest is true, delicious fries, good service and the atmosphere there is great.

So Renata, she was crazy about blood, the drinks were A (big A). we will definitely come back! Greetings Nius and Co.

A great restaurant, with well-made food and many different options. For those who drink, there is also a wide variety of beers. We were served by a very friendly Portuguese man and I tried a dish with rice, salmon and vegetables. It was very well made, and serves one person well.

Picture the scene.... You're a family of four wondering around Lucerne in Switzerland for the first time. You've consulted the menus of a dozen different restaurants and realised that kids menus are few and far between and £30 for an average meal is pretty much standard. Step forward the mirage that is restaurant California. Probably the only place in town that offers tasty food at prices that won't give you a heart attack. The staff are also flipping fantastic too.... Give it a try.

The service was attentive and warm from the start. ♡ There are 100 different types of beer from all over the world to try out. We had already eaten before and only came there to drink, all the other guests came to eat. The plates that came from the kitchen looked yummy. 😉 Our highlight of the evening is the friendly service ☆☆☆☆☆

Everything was good in regards to atmosphere and service...but the burgers, a staple of the menu...left a lot to be desired. Certainly was not Angus beef...more along the lines of the burgers you got in the cafeteria in grade school... mystery meat!?!?

Nice restaurant and quite affordable by Swiss standards, although I had to pay 5 euros for a glass of water for my 4-year-old daughter.... The hamburger sandwich was okay but not exceptionally fresh and tasty.

My business partner and I had good conversations here, a quiet, relaxed American-style location, good service, delicious burgers and over 100 beers from all over the world. You feel like you are in the USA and also have the unique opportunity to get the beer diploma if you have drunk 100 different beers.

Great because it closes at 11pm and they are very friendly. Good food. If you are in Lucerne in Switzerland, this restaurant saves you, since everything closes very early.

Burger was more like Cevapcici in authentic flatbread. All in all a bit too greasy. Ambiance is reminiscent of an American diner, unfortunately a bit stuffy. Service was top. Beer selection impressive.

Very nice restaurant. We went as a family with kid. We were searching for a suitable restaurant and there aren't many in the vicinity. Found this one very good. The attendant girl was very sweet and helpfull. Food was good. Ambiance was also good. We had vegetable curry and rice with banana which was very good. Also we had burger and chicken wings.

It's a shame that the delicious burger bread was only available with the "big" burgers on the menu. With all other burgers, why only this soggy and boring ready-made bread? A burger depends not only on the meat, but also on the bread. Atmosphere more for a snack with friends. It is not possible to have the burger cooked “medium” here, which indicates that it is frozen. Good beer selection. Considering the rather reasonable price, it was right for me.

I think the California has great charm and a casual interior. I'd love to go there. Many types of beer, although they have their price. I think the food is great, but the price here is absolutely fair. I always enjoy going to this restaurant.

Unfriendly host. He doesn't understand or speak German properly and then blames the guests. I don't go to a restaurant/bar to be jostled and lectured by the waiter. When we wanted to order after waiting 25 minutes, he yelled at us for no reason, so we got up and left.

I went my first night in Lucerne because of the proximity to my hotel and I was not wrong, I had dinner on all 4 nights of my stay there, the food was delicious, a wide variety of beers and options from many places in the world, the owners are very friendly and it looks How very hardworking. Absolute respect for them and the magnificent work they do. I felt very welcome and if I return to Lucerne I will definitely visit them. Thank you very much ♥️

The burger meat is of extremely poor quality and the prices are pretty high. Take your money somewhere else (like any other burger place in the city). The guitars were pretty cool, but I’m never going back

We were rather disillusioned when we got to the store. The ambience didn't fit the big picture. No music in the background. The burgers had nothing to do with American diner. Little topping (1 quarter slice of tomato and half a slice of pickled cucumber) and very neutral in taste. The fries weren't particularly good either. A bottle of beer (0.33l) costs an average of 7.5 francs. That's really expensive.

Central place. Ideal for eating and drinking. American menu but with Portuguese fusion. The staff are lovely and the food is great value for money.

Unfortunately I didn't have such a good experience. We specifically ordered the burger without any additives like cucumber & tomato & only with green salad. When the waitress asked which sauce we said again that we meant the burger, so the question was unnecessary. The burger came without fries, only with salad. We told her again & politely told her to bring us fries, well they were included in the bill. With a little reluctance she canceled it for us. Unfortunately not worth visiting again.

Service is a bit shady. I asked for a glass of tap water, to which he agreed. Later he returned with a bottle of water, immediately opened it and poured to a glass. I reminded him I asked for tap water and he replied that I would have had to pay 4.5 CHF anyway. Not cool.

Open late, reasonably priced and great food and drinks! Felt dumb coming here because we're American and wanted to eat 'swiss' food but everywhere was else was closed or stupid expensive. But at the end we had no regrets and would do this again. Highly recommend stopping in for a burger!

The atmosphere is very cool and the service is friendly. Drinks menu is large (especially beer), but unfortunately not everything is available. Prices are rather high. Burger wasn't to my taste. Conclusion: It's OK to meet up and have a drink, but nothing more.

This store is a disgrace to the beautiful city of Lucerne. This is probably just trying to fool tourists. Apparently over 100 beers. I asked for 4 beers from the menu and one of them was there. The photos you see here in the reviews had nothing to do with reality and raise the question of the authenticity of the reviews. The burger was really really bad. Cheap ready-made meat from the frozen food store (here I would attest that McDonald's meat is better). The sauces were not on the burger but next to it. Rolls are also the cheapest ready-made catering quality. The bacon was still light and limp. A slice of cucumber and a piece of onion should serve as a salad garnish. The waitress's excuse was: "Yes, they're right, but the chef says he cooks nine times like that." All in all, you really feel ripped off here. For two beers and a burger you pay an impressive 40.70chf At least one star because the waitress admitted the poor quality and apologized. She said the boss wanted it to be that way and she also thinks it's a shame.

It's unbelievable what we've experienced here, it's the third time we've been there, there's a familiar atmosphere. A quaint American diner. Beers from all over the world will surprise you. We would love to come back.😉

It's a shame, but I probably won't come here anymore. Small beer 7.50 CHF?? Are you crazy!? This probably has less to do with Americans. Ambient. More like an Italian bistro that has hung a few guitars on the wall. And customers can also be served in a more friendly and courteous manner. Good luck continues. You'll probably need them.

After a morning of sightseeing in Lucerne we had the good fortune to enter this Restaurant. Very friendly waitress, speaks Portuguese and understands Spanish. The unbeatable burger!! Good food and correct price

Fast and friendly service. Food is fine. Nicely decorated. The only thing missing (and what you would expect) is background music from America from the 60s-80s.

California is a place I always frequented a lot during my previous management because I lived and worked nearby. TODAY it is a very well decorated place with 100% hygiene where friendliness is healthy and honesty stands out. The food level is excellent and the waiting time is very short.
