We were traveling in Lucerne with a small group and spontaneously ate at Cara Mia. We were completely satisfied, great food, very friendly service...Everything you need for a nice evening! Always my pleasure!

Great discovery... I spent a wonderful evening having dinner with my wife in this restaurant, welcomed in a very attentive and warm way, from then on it was a succession of emotions, with high quality dishes that reflect the professionalism but above all the love for the culture of Italian cuisine. Honored to be served by the super charismatic manager Brenda, who assisted us in choosing the super good dishes, and also Patrick with his elegant manner who paired a wine with our dishes which truly crowned the evening. Half not to be missed if you pass through Luzern.

The class!! Wonderful discovery on the riverside, this restaurant will amaze you! Attracted by the TYPICAL Italian dishes (from polenta with venison, to agnolotti plin, to grilled tomino), my partner and I immediately felt at home! The chef prepared everything in a masterful way, delicious dishes and the right portions (try the venison carpaccio!!). They buy fresh seafood, offering high quality dishes of the day! The impeccable service: present and attentive staff; we were recommended a bottle of Sardinian Carignano which paired perfectly with our food, Brenda and Patrick really didn't let us miss anything! From appetizers to homemade desserts, this place is a guarantee! Don't miss this fantastic experience! We will definitely return in good weather to enjoy a good dinner by the river! Highly recommended!

Very good food. Very good service. Big portions and a lot of flavour. Drinks are excellent. We went at night but I imagine the views during the day are amazing. They have good starters, mains and desserts.

If I could give more than just 5 stars, I would. I can’t recommend this new restaurant enough! The menu is brilliant, I am so thankful to Chef Antonio, I had the best pasta in Switzerland!! You should definitely stop by, you won’t regret it. Lovely location by the river and super nice, kind and caring staff! 10/10!

Homely atmosphere, very friendly service, the pizza is delicious.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is only for a quick lunch, pizza frutti de Mar was very sparsely topped for over 26 CHF… the starters were okay.

I don't understand why there are only two tables occupied here on Friday evening. Very nice atmosphere, very friendly service and of course also important: the food is excellent. Come here everyone!!

We were there last summer. The pizzas were great. The request for normal salami instead of spicy salami on the pizza was also addressed.

Side dish vegetables were cold at Pulpo. The pasta was too salty. The only good thing was the waiter, we were compensated with a free tiramisu.

Best riverside restaurant Very nice restaurant, with very friendly waiters and the food is excellent. I was surprised with the price since it was more than reasonable than most riverside restaurants. And it is one of the only restaurants open after 9pm in Luzern. Very satisfied 😁

TOURIST TRAP!!!! BEWARE!!! They served us Pizza without any plates, when we asked for plates, they charged us 10 Swiss Franks in the final bill. They also did not tell us about the extra amount while serving. Poor Show..!

We were assisted by a lady waitress and took our order. She was nice and even suggested a non alcoholic fruity drink, which i like it. I ordered Spaghetti Allo Scoglio with mussles, clams, and octopus . When the order came, the dish only had pasta and no seafood. We asked a gentleman if this was the correct dish, but he just said yes and that he didn't speak english. We decided to wait for the original lady who took our order but as we found out later she had left for the day. The gentleman that didn't speak english was able to speak english to the tables on either side of us, so we decided to ask again. We didn't feel like we should be paying for the seafood when we didn't receive any. When we told him this, he was swearing at us in another language and threatening to call the police if we wouldn't pay. He then said we needed to pay and leave. When he brought the bill, the price charged was just for the pasta, not the dish, with the seafood. All he needed to tell us is that they made a mistake and were not charging us for the seafood we didn't get, but instead, he chose to swear at us and threaten to call the police. We would definitely not recommend going here! Edit to reply: I would agree with you if that was what happened, but we were trying to make sure we were not charged for the seafood we never received. Either way, it is not the way to treat a guest in your restaurant! On top of that, we did bring ot to the servers' attention as soon as we were served, and he said that it was correct when it wasn't.

If you get the opportunity, sit inside. The flies and bugs do not make for a good experience. Food was alright, albeit a little wet and service was hurried and blunt, as it seemed only one guy was working. There is no drinks menu, so you have no clue how much you're paying for the drinks he quotes you.

We had dinner there last night. At first we thought, oh, pretty nice here. Unfortunately, the soundscape becomes very stressful over time. I generally like the water and the splashing doesn't usually do anything. Unfortunately the noise level here was like at the Rhine Falls. Well, there's nothing the restaurant can do about that. But for what followed, very much so. I read the reviews first and what I read wasn't very positive. Now I thought, let's give it a chance. Ordering was an experience in itself. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I shyly held out my hand as the waiter walked past. He, with a somewhat hasty gesture that could be interpreted as "Be patient, I'm still working on this." Ok, no problem so far. Then after a while he came and asked for the drinks. The table was set for two, but there were four of us. The drinks were brought, but no other cutlery sets. A young man then took the order for the food. He was quite nice, but seemed a bit inexperienced to me. No problem here either, but the tone is a bit friendly. No problem with me, but with a 97 year old (my stepfather) it was a bit out of place. He didn't hear it, but I did. But the absolute highlight came when the food was served. The waiter who brought the food (the first to serve us) was a bit confused at first. As I later found out, also with other deliveries. He put a plate of spaghetti in front of me and I said no. I ordered a margerita pizza. Then I checked, this is my wife's spaghetti. I pointed to my wife to the left. Then he held out the Quattro Stagioni pizza to me and I said no again and pointed to my mother and stepfather. Then he got so angry and said to me in a loud voice, "Do you know what you ordered?" I replied "Yes, but can you talk to me properly". After two requests to speak to me in an appropriate tone, he got louder. His opinion was that he was decent, but he asked me twice and twice I said no. But in a tone that made the neighbors at the table look over at us at how the "nice" gentleman treated his customers. He also came down to me from above pretty close to my face and wanted to explain to me that he was right. I waved and said ok. I didn't feel like annoying myself anymore. My mother, 80 years old, looked completely shocked. That’s as far as operation. The food was ok but expensive. My wife's spaghetti should have salsiccia in it. There were two pieces in it and the portion was more of an appetizer. The pizzas tasted average, the dough wasn't fully baked, and my stepfather said it was "like leather". I also had to get up myself and get the missing cutlery sets. Because these still haven't been brought. My stepfather, who was used to a lot of things, traveled a lot and ate a lot of pizza, was extremely disappointed. Most of all from the service. Conclusion: underground! I have never received such poor service in a Swiss restaurant. And if I had said no three times, it would be an absolute no-go to approach customers like that. The waiter's level of decency may perhaps be sufficient in the Balkans, but different standards apply here. NEVER AGAIN!

Location is great, beautifully located on the Reuss. The store was pretty full, but the service was still very friendly. We were pleasantly surprised in this regard. Unfortunately the pizza was a bit weak. 😑

Lovely restaurant with delicous food. Very friendly staff. Beautiful scenery. During the evening there is almost no lighting of the terrace so it was quite dark.

My mother invited me there for dinner on my birthday… The food and wine were very good… Unfortunately you had to actively try to be noticed if you wanted to order something and you got the feeling that you had done something wrong… is Certainly due to stress, but it didn't make the evening so relaxing.

The food was ok, but the service was really bad. The attitude of the waiter was really rude, he yelled at my father’s face when he was trying to order a coffee. I wouldn’t recommend it..

We showed up one minute before the kitchen closed after a LONG day of travel. They graciously kept things open and served us a delicious truffle pasta and salad. They even let in another two groups of diners. They were SO nice and food was LUSCIOUS !

We arrived in Lucerne last tonight and stumbled across Cara Mia at 10 PM. It seemed like they were about to close, but welcomed us with open arms. Our waitress was just great. The truffle pasta was to die for. Just unbelievable! And a delicious salad also. You can’t go wrong!

A very pleasant experience. We were visiting from Germany and found it to be a very nice restaurant in Lucerne. It's right on the river, the service is friendly and the food is really tasty. Of course the experience can be a little slow when the terrace is full... but this is not a fast food restaurant... 5/5

Food took exceptionally long to be served. It has a good view which is why we chose this restaurant in the first place. But the food did not taste good at all, and the service is VERY slow. It took 20 minutes to finally get the cheque! Do not recommend!

Deserts were pretty nice however ice cream was melted 👎 but the game changer was Tartufo do Pizzo Calabro 😍😍😍

First restaurant on our arrival in Lucerne, from afar we noticed the very pretty place and the rest was just as positive. The servers were lovely and the pizzas and drinks were excellent. Prices are higher than in France but we knew that when we arrived. Thank you so much !

Unfortunately, our meals (tuna pizza and a pasta dish) were already very cold. The taste wasn't particularly impressive either. Nevertheless, there is solid quality and a nice ambience. The rushing water makes it a bit noisy at the weir, but this hardly affects the ambience. The service definitely needs improvement. We were allowed to sit at a table and then weren't served for almost a full 20 minutes. No menu, no question about the drinks, etc. Meanwhile, the waitress stood at other tables and talked about various topics, mostly about places of residence. After we spoke directly to a waitress that we would like to order, we were at least able to place our drinks and food orders. We ordered carbonated mineral water, but received still water, for which we had to wait another 15 minutes... After a while, a service person apologized to us and at the same time brought us the food, which was very cold as described. Before that, however, we received an order from another table, which we immediately noticed and rejected the food. A while later, in the ongoing hustle and bustle and chaos, a service worker poured out soft drinks at the next table and unfortunately hit a guest. After asking several times, we waited a long time for a service person to arrive for the payment process. In total we were in the restaurant for almost 3 hours and had to wait a long time for drinks or food. Maybe the employees just had a bad day today... I therefore give it 3 stars.

Took a lunch break here. We had afew drinks, salads, and spaghetti. The food tasted exceptional. The staff were very friendly. The pasta was homemade. Very delicious.

Yesterday I ate there with my girlfriend and the experience was very good. The staff may be overworked, but they try to treat customers well. The waiters are on the move all the time. I don't understand the criticism that the service is inattentive. The food is very good and everything is very fresh. If the restaurant is full, it's normal to wait a bit. Eating by the river on a hot day is spectacular.

I was on vacation in Lucerne a few days ago and visited this restaurant several times. The service and the food is amazing. I was asked to leave an honest review, so I am writing this review. Eating next to the river and seeing the city is a delight. I really recommend it.

Great, here we have original spagetti carbonara only with egg and parmesan. Delicious. The atmosphere outside right by the river is nice and our service man was friendly and attentive. That's how it has to be

We were very impressed with the restaurant, but I'm a bit surprised by the negative reviews, especially regarding the service, as I can't confirm it. One of the waiters made us laugh with his cheerful manner. Everyone else was extremely friendly and the food was served quickly.

Bread with the salad was very hard. Oversalt pizza dough. The bill is simply brought without notice. Staff a bit arrogant. Italian hospitality looks different. I can't recommend it

We were there on a busy Friday evening and received a very friendly and warm welcome! The food is outstanding! Pizza, pasta, ravioli and salad are only recommended!! The dessert is also incredibly delicious and overall you can enjoy a great evening at Cara Mia with excellent food and service!!!

The location on the Reuss is always nice. The lunch menu was good value for money. And the food was okay, but nothing special. Unfortunately the service was lousy. Long wait for the food included.

Waited 15 minutes getting completely ignored by the waiters. We left since they apparently dint need our business. Sad what has become of the swiss hospitality.

I was at Cara mia about two weeks ago and the food was great and the service was okay but not particularly good. I told my friend how good the pizza was and wanted to go again We had reserved and the three of us were there 15 minutes before the reservation time. The table was ready and we were greeted warmly The cards came to the table relatively quickly - then another waiter came and asked us whether it was German or English. After that was clarified, he asked us if we were ready to order. We replied that we would like to order drinks. He said okay, turned around and left Two more tables were reoccupied with us, but there were still enough staff around who could have served us. We and the other two parties waited 15 minutes until we could order. Service was generally friendly, but there was no trace of a structured service chain or service quality. While we were waiting to finally order, a waiter ran around the restaurant whistling. Everyone else seemed uncoordinated. The first round of drinks and appetizers arrived quite quickly After it was cleared away. (6.50 p.m. approximately) nothing happened for a long time. At 7.45 p.m. the two pizzas and my giant prawns arrived. We waited almost an hour for food. When the plates were inserted. If we wanted to order two more beers, I had to call after them to order. Drinks never came. I ordered shrimps with risotto and vegetables. I'm still waiting for my vegetables. Attentive service that asks if everything is okay - forget it. Complaining on site - not possible at all - no one comes We sat in front of our empty plates for ages - my friend wanted to take the pizza with him - no one came to clear it - the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all. My friend then went in to pay - while our plates still hadn't been cleared away. We didn't take the rest of the pizza with us - we really missed it. When paying, I didn't ask if everything was good. Great kitchen - huge potential visible Quality management should really be reconsidered here. The guests' expectations are certainly not met here - and I haven't experienced such poor service in a long time.

Extremely unfriendly service and long waiting times. At Nix in der Lantern you always received a friendly welcome, but at Cara Mia we didn't feel welcome at all. My friend had the tablecloth thrown over his head. Coffee cream came without cream. A pity.

I've never waited so long for a pizza in my life. Say and write over 1 hour! And the drink was only brought after 45 minutes - and only after a reminder. The pizza was okay, apart from the fact that the artichokes were forgotten on the cappriciosa. It's a shame, it could have been such a nice last evening in Lucerne.

We came at 2100 and were a large group who wanted to have a drink. We received a very unfriendly welcome and were then allowed to sit down. After the absolutely unfriendly order, we waited 20 minutes for our drinks. At least three tables were served before us. The staff was very unfriendly, the waiting time was long and the drinks (e.g.: Hugo were only average) I was very disappointed to explain this behavior to our international guests.

The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the margarita and vegetarian pizza, as well as the ravioli and spaghetti. All the tables were full but the manager helped us make a reservation. The location is amazing right along the river.

Stopped her for lunch while exploring Lucerne by foot. it seems all of the restaurants on the other side of the river are very busy and crowded. But on this side of the river they were quieter and not as busy. Thought that might mean the food/service is not as good but i was wrong. Our lunch here was really good and a peaceful experience next to the river. I had the lemon chicken special and it was great. My partner had the spicy pizza and it was good as well. The view was the best part though.

I have never experienced such subterranean service. Guests who arrived later ate an hour before us and left before we had our meal. We ordered at 5:30 p.m. and got our two pizzas at 7:30 p.m. Any information or explanation was too much for the waiter, not a word. When she asked the waitress she had to ask, then the pizzas were promised in 5 minutes and they came after 10 minutes. In the end, nothing was even offered, and an apology was also expected in vain.

It's unbelievable to say this, but the steak was the best tasting I've ever eaten. Better than any steakhouse. The quality of the food is outstanding, the service is attentive and warm. You can sit right on the water with a great view of the city. We couldn't have wished for a better place for our dinner during our visit to Lucerne. Thanks!

We came here today to have lunch. The pizza was excellent! You can sit outside to have a meal with the view of the bridge, or sit inside and have a cozy meal. The staff was also so nice and friendly. The service was really fast. And again, the pizza was GREAT!!!

We stayed two evenings in a row and this already says a lot: on the first evening an excellent spaghetti with seafood, all fresh. The second evening an excellent Neapolitan pizza. The real one! Very kind Raimondo and all the staff. We'll be back!

The amount of seafood pasta was plentiful and the seafood was fresh. The cream pasta also had meat inside, like dumplings, which was amazing and tasted good. I was satisfied with this restaurant after coming from expensive Switzerland.

I have been to this restaurant three times as a repeat offender. A pleasure every time. Small but fine menu, a pizza dough like I've never tasted before, an exciting selection of wines. The prices are fair. The atmosphere is relaxed. The service was friendly and attentive. I'll probably become a regular customer...

A piece of Naples served on the table. At Cara mia you will find tradition and new pizza varieties such as the four types of cheese with meatballs and baked potatoes. Raimondo is a first class host. I would be very happy to recommend it. Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏

Service can still improve a lot, therefore only 4 stars. Aaaaabut the food deserves 10 stars. Above all the pizza, just like in Napoli, a dream, an explosion of flavors, mamma mia. A huge compliment to the pizzaiolo, many pizzerias in Lucerne can still learn from this. Top 🤌
