Casco Viejo in Zürich

We expected more of everything, the croquettes were good, but the squid was salty and the prawns with paprika were raw. Good but scarce wine… not even for foreigners…

Still one of the best tapas restaurants in Zurich. Food is authentic, fresh and perfectly prepared. Service is perfect like the food. Ambiance suits a tapas restaurant. Prices...we are in Zurich...that's why it's right.

Me and my friend went to Casco Viejo by coincidence. We both loved it. The food is amazing. She loved it so much that she decided to celebrate her bday there some weeks later.

Together with our team we went to the Casco Viejo Tapas Bar for after work drinks and tapas. The server was extremely friendly, funny and guaranteed us a great evening. In addition to the recommended white wine, we ordered a large selection of tapas, all of which blew us away. If you are more than 5 people, I recommend making a reservation to get the extremely charming round table at the end of the restaurant surrounded by wine bottles. If you want to treat yourself to a bit of Spanish ambience at a totally fair price in Niederdörfli, I wholeheartedly recommend the Casca Viejo Tapas Bar. Enjoy!

Overpriced. Wine was higher average for 15.- a glass. Paella had 4 shrimps and else, rice, Cheese was not served with the dish we asked. I would not come back there are better places in Zurich for Tapas.

Food was ok, but not extraordinary. Wine was ok, just ask for the price per glass else you might be a bit shocked when looking at the bill. Overall, not the same as it used to be and I would not go back.

Total disaster. Several people from my family were sick and the service was rude. Do not recommend at all. Avoid this place!

Why are there only 5 stars? Please order the eggplant. You will not regret it. The garlic bread? You will only regret getting one portion. The scallops? Superbe! Nice. Super nice! Delicious, and you would be recommended to come here.

Today I went to dinner with my family and the treatment was terrible for being from the Basque Country: when we asked them for the Wi-Fi password, they told us that they did not have Wi-Fi (when it appeared on the cell phone that there was Wi-Fi), and also, When ordering another larger beer, they told us that all the beers were the same size (at the table next to us they brought out the large beer and it also appeared on the menu that they had large beers. Anyway, draw your conclusions. ..

The waiter had a bad attitude. He delivered water and drinks very loudly and took away the cups without asking. The food was not delicious. Not recommended.

Very very expensive for TApas with very small portion. Food tastes not good vs authentic Spainish. We sit 30cm next to the toilet door with people coming in and out with the toilet smell. I won’t recommend to others.

Food was OK, but way too greasy. Unfortunately it wasn't home-made food, but bought and warmed up. The waiters didn't smile, except when we left the restaurant. One had the feeling that the waiters and cooks were a bit listless and wanted to call it a day. Doesn't have to happen again.

The food is decent, but they ask for tips which is not mandatory in Switzerland. Maybe they are treating English speaking tourist differently.

I want to highlight the excellent service of Alex, the Canarian waiter. Being Spanish we can say that the food is acceptable, of course in Spain all that costs 4 times less.

Well, food was quite good (not extraordinary, just regular good food..) but service very poor. When you start talking to a waiter from the first second showing that you would like to be guided and get some recommendation but you get a strange look back and a menu instead.. you know already. Later was only worse, with 15min waiting time to get a receipt.. (it was not super busy… already had to give up a refill of wine as didnt want to stay there entire evening). In general - DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The cheese, the wine: wow, really delicious! I found the service a bit rough. Can't you even smile as a waiter? I would have liked a little more friendliness, as a guest you just don't feel very welcome.

Super nice restaurant. Tapas at its finest! You can watch the chefs prepare each course freshly. We have been there many times and would love to come back...

I got the grilled octopus and croquettes. The octopus was extremely delicious and I would recommend getting it. The croquettes was very rich and crispy and would also recommend getting it but it was so rich I couldn't finish 5 by myself so keep that in mind.

Silent and unfriendly service staff, you feel absolutely unwelcome. We left the restaurant without eating. Rarely have I experienced such unfriendly service staff in Zurich.

Spectacular, a small but very nice bar-restaurant, the waiters are very attentive and the food is delicious, highly recommended. I feel that I am close, I do not miss the opportunity to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and delicious food.

Food was fine... had to give up the table after 75 minutes even though we didn't want to leave yet... a shame...

Amazing Spanish Food place in the middle of old town Zürich

Two women asked to use the bathroom and they told us it was closed. With that ability it certainly doesn't invite you to stay.

How can you make a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream the most delicious thing ever? … is what went through my head after some amazing tapas and delicious red house wine. In short: I would always recommend. For a date, a friends night out or casual dinner with colleagues. Enjoy!

Very fine food and nice atmosphere.

I have rarely experienced such bad service. The waiters are all very unfriendly. We had made a reservation and were constantly reminded that we had to leave after 2 hours. After an hour - even though we were still eating - the bill was slapped on the table. After 10 minutes the waiter came with the card reader. And in the end the boss made such a mess of us in front of all the guests that we were just shocked. It's a shame because the tapas are delicious.

We have been to the restaurant many times, but unfortunately it has lost some of its customer friendliness. The portions have become smaller even as prices have risen and as a guest you are greeted straight away for the limited 2 hours. reminded before being escorted to the table. Which doesn't go well with tapas and therefore destroys the whole ambience. Unfortunately, the boss even got loud when we wanted to order dessert after the 2 hours. We were literally thrown out - a shame! Never again and absolutely not recommended.

Wasn’t able to get a table at Swiss Chuchli so we decided to check out this place. The octopus was great but 3/4 tapas we got were EXTREMELY salty. Our group of 4 couldn’t finish the tapas because of how salty they were.

The quality and quantity of the food has gone down a lot. The chorizos are sliced ​​instead of whole, to add less quantity. We returned some calamari because they were tasteless and the aioli was cut. Almost everything we ordered was frozen. A shame.

I booked adding that I was going with a baby carriage, and when I arrived they told me it wouldn't fit. I have been there other times and they treated us very well. But today's treatment has been disgusting (without the possibility of finding a solution or at least an apology) they told me we can't do anything and the man turned around and left me standing there. I was amazed. We live in zurich and we used to come. But we will never return.

It is a boutique restaurant with various tapas options. Personally i dont eat pork. I was happy that they have also seefood and beef.

Really expensive for such small serving of food. 20-30 CHF for each tapas and in Zurich you can get a main dish with this sort of price at a mid-range restaurant. Food is delicious though, but it just isn’t worth the price they’re charging.

The waiter at the door was very unfriendly, the second one was a bit nicer. The calamari fritos were fried in used oil - we had stomach pains all night afterwards.

Went there in Apr 2023 based on the very popular rating. 2 of us ordered pepper, aubergine, mix cold cut, sausage, octopus, and the Iberico pork secreto. All food were fresh but way too salty for us. We finished three bottles of water and when we got home, we both feel very thirsty. The service is not ideal for us. There was only one waiter and perhaps due to language barrier, he was not really warm towards us, no smile, minimum talking. But we saw that he was smiling and chatting to other tables, whom spoke Swiss German or Spanish. Perhaps he thinks we are tourists and don’t want to waste time on one time customer. We felt like we owe him a lot of money and being very careful when eating there. It’s not a nice feeling. There were smiles on the chefs’ face, but not the waiter. Based on these, I will not be in a hurry to go back.

Typical Spanish restaurant. A bit small. Mainly tapas on the menu with a large selection of wines. The food tasted very good, but the portions could have been a little larger for my taste. The service is open and friendly. However, we paid around 200Fr for 3 people (including wine). But you can't possibly expect anything different if you're already eating out in Zurich's old town.

We really liked the food in Casco Viejo, the seafood is really good quality and well seasoned. We particularly liked the sepia and fried aubergine with honey, which is something I have not found before even in spain😋The prices of little tapas are really high, but that's Zurich old town so it's kind of expected. I highly recommend their Ribera del Duero vines too. Good to book in advance as it may get crowded, especially on the weekends.

Price-performance ratio doesn't really match. The food is good but only partly fresh. 3 stars because the costs in Niederdörfli may play a big role. However, I'm not really convinced that it's worth it

Beautiful modern Spanish tapas-bar Last night of our vacation we visited Casco Viejo and that was the best choice we could take!! Atmosphere was really vibrant and live! Waiter gave us the best little table in the window next to the entrance, service was just amazing!! Wine was excellent, food was exquisite 👌, fresh and so delicious!! 10*/10* Thank you guys and we'll see you soon!!

Food is just average compared to other Spanish restaurants. Years ago food was much better.

The staff were wonderful. There was so much to choose from on the menu, and everything was delicious: goat cheese, aubergine, calamari, octopus and meat plate. The sangria was perfect. I highly recommend Casco Viejo.

If you want Spanish tapas at a very excellent level and are willing to pay a price for it, Casco Viejo is the right place for you. The cozy parlor invites you to linger for a long time with exceptionally good tapas and the right wine :-)

Would be 4 stars, but the restaurant illegally adds money to the total bill and try’s to explain it off as “new menus are coming”. Server was grumpy and not willing to be reasonable when the issue was raised. Sorry… but Swiss law states all prices must be accurately shown on the menu. The menu has other items crossed out with pen… just do the same with the prices.

We're not city people, we're country bumpkins😉. What we were able to experience in this restaurant was simply beautiful and very tasty.😋😋 We didn't feel like we were in Zurich but rather in Spain... Highly recommended👍👍

very unfriendly staff. Came in the door at 5, the place was empty, but still wasn't greeted. When I asked if you could sit down to eat something, I was told "everything is fully booked at 6" and nothing more. You can also just say no instead of saying it in such a complicated way. At no point did the employees ask if I had a reservation; they showed zero interest in me as a guest.

Overpriced mediocre food and the ingredients are not even fresh (the octopus and the scampi). They sprinkled too much rock salt on every dish. The service is quite bad too, it just doesn’t match with the price you’re paying.

This restaurant does serve you authentic Spanish food! Not only is the food fantastic, but also the atmosphere with the open kitchen and friendly waiters. The restaurant is quite small so I recommend booking in advance.

One of our company's go to restaurants, their Pluma Ibérica a la plancha con patatas is delectable! Very tender and high quality, Casco's lamb chops are also a favorite! They have good choices of spanish wines as well. Worth the wait! 10/10

We arrive at 5:15 p.m., we ask if we can have an aperitif and patanegra… Response all booked at 6 p.m.. everything was empty Deplorable welcome in the Spanish way too bad! We won't go anymore...

The first two times were good and friendly - the third time we were asked if there was space and were fobbed off with “outside” without a friendly smile or sorry we are fully booked or “unfortunately only outside” and that in the rain and 14 degrees without blinds 🤨 probably never try again

Very unfriendly and arrogant, there is a bar next to it but you are thrown out unfriendly if you don't eat anything, just want to drink!! Arrogant waiters!!

The tapas here were so delicious. Highly recommend the Goats Cheese and the Croquettas. It’s a bit pricey but worth it!
