Chez Vrony not only offers excellent cuisine, but also a view that takes your breath away. With the majestic Matterhorn in the background, every meal becomes an unforgettable experience.

Had an absolutely abysmal and mind boggling experience at Chez Vrony. We had a reservation booked for 3 months in advance. We were seated at a table for 2 and ordered and received our drinks. Another waitress came over and asked us if we would switch tables, as "someone really wants your table, they will not take no for an answer. They really want this table." We were kind of in shock, and agreed to move, as we thought there may be a reason for it. We passed the person that said they wanted our seat, and it was just a normal person. We were kicked out of our seat for someone else. We were then moved to the attic of the restaurant, and were put at a table with no headroom, and were told "this is a big table so someone else will be seated at the other end." We couldn't believe this happened. I ordered a risotto side. After taking a spoon of it, I felt a very hard crunch in my teeth. I spit out the food, and there was 3 pieces of rock/gravel in the risotto. How does gravel get into risotto? I nearly broke a tooth. I had very high hopes and expectations for Chez Vrony, but the service was absolutely appalling and we felt we were discriminated against. The rest of the food was great.

The restaurant is beautiful. However, our food wasn't hot, and the waitress service was very bad and rude... we paid a fairly amount for 4 people, and I expected a high service. So, I'm not sure I would come back or recommend it to friends.

Here you can eat and drink fantastically with a great view of the Matterhorn! Top cuisine with a great ambience.

An essential address in Zermatt which is accessible via the ski slopes but also on foot which is very practical. The sunny weather was not there but even inside we had a great time. All the dishes were very good and the service was fast, efficient and very friendly. Special mention to the burger which I loved!

Really delicious food spot on the mountain and I was recommended to go here by multiple people but honestly it’s a little bit overhyped. It was absolutely packed and snowing outside so we were tucked away up on the third floor of the restaurant and the stairs up were treacherous in ski boots. Very cozy but not quite enough room to maneuver. We got the burgers which was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had but the hot chocolate was nothing special and the service was just ok. Glad I checked it out but wouldn’t go back unless it was a super nice day out.

Everything about this place was divine. Incredible food. Great drinks. Lovely decor. Strong recommend. Easy blue for access, although it can get narrow/ icy at times.

Beautifully located large hut with very good kitchen. Reservation in advance is recommended! Thanks to our reservation and great weather, we had a beautiful spot on the balcony on the day of our visit. The service was very friendly and usually quick, but not always without complaints. The choice of food was good, although rather limited - especially for vegans and vegetarians when it came to the main courses. The overall taste of the food was very good.

American review - Probably the most jaw dropping views in my lifetime at a restaurant. Wife and I skied in while visiting Zermatt and we could’ve spent the entire afternoon sitting here. The food was incredible - maybe some of the best on the trip, and service was timely. Make sure to make a reservation!

On our first visit we arrived and were seated straight away. On the second visit we stood in line for 20 minutes before we found out that without a reservation you have no chance. Very great atmosphere but rather less great service and price/performance ratio.

We were very lucky to get a table at Chez Vrony as you really need to book months in advance if you want to have the chance to eat there. And my we were lucky! This is a total gourmet experience on the slopes! The service was perfect, the food was outstanding and the setting and atmosphere ever so chalet-like and romantic. We totally recommend this place.

Chez Vrony offers an unforgettable experience with breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. Despite the large influx of guests, there is a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, which is thanks to the well-coordinated team. The receptionist and host Jessy made us feel welcome and fulfilled all our wishes. It is highly recommended to... TO RESERVE IN ADVANCE. The path from the mountain station to the restaurant takes about 15-20 minutes on foot. In winter when there is snow, I recommend wearing spikes if you are not skiing or snowboarding.

A nice experience. The food was over hyped, but generally good. Drinks and view were great. The lounge chairs are not the most practical for sitting and drinking/eating.

Dropping by spontaneously is not possible here in winter. The Rösti was ok but not convincing. Service was friendly & atmosphere great

The place was occupied for the whole day, we only wanted to have soup and ski dal, but apparently they are not interested in such guests. I have never experienced that we could not be seated when there were free tables and had to make a reservation while skiing!!!

Chez Vrony is an exceptional restaurant just off Piste Blue 6, accessible from the Sunnegga lift. The panoramic views of the Matterhorn are truly amazing. We had the cheese fondue and the Rosti, both of which were wonderful. Make sure to get a Mulled Wine or Aperol Spritz and enjoy!

The staff was friendly, the food was delicious and the view is stunning. If you dont mind cheese, there are great vegetarian options. Quick info how we got there: We walked down from Sunnegga 10-20 min by foot alongside the ski slopes. Should not be a problem, if you wear decent shoes. After our visit we walked down to Findelbahn (10 min along the skislopes) and took the chairlift (10.-/Person) back to Sunnegga.

Chez Vrony is one of those must see places of any mountain experience. We had been in Chamonix and Gstaad and while both of those places are special neither had an experience such as Chez. We did not ski so we had to hike down the mountain which was interesting as the hike is not short and you really need proper footwear and I would encourage the simple ice shoe you can use on your boots. Especially if you plan on hiking back up or down to leave. We instead followed the slope to the nearby chairlift and paid the 10ch to ride up to the tram. Lunch for us consisted of Bloody Mary Tomato soup with a splash of vodka when served, large salad for two and the Chez burger. Desert was a must and the views were astounding. If you have the chance it is a must go to place.

Just wonderful. Direct reception from the two owners who stay in constant contact with the guests. Service is extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating. Reservations are mandatory, otherwise you have no chance of getting a table.

We loved having lunch on the terrace overlooking the Matterhorn. I recommend the Vrony Burger. Great.

Very nice place, spectacular views. We have eaten fondue, hot chocolate and tea. The chocolate and tea do not come hot and the chocolate has been given to us so that we can serve ourselves in a sachet. The fondue tastes normal and the bread also very regular.

We've been coming to Chez Vrony for 2 decades and we're very disappointed after our lunch today. Chez Vrony has consistently been the best food and service on the mountain for many years but the food was simply okay today and the service well below expectations. It remains a beautiful place to visit for the atmosphere but honestly you are better off going to Findlerhof, Flualp, or the sister restaurant of Chez Vrony which is Paradise. I don't think we'll be returning in future trips.

Great food (including vegan and vegetarian options), friendly service and unforgettable views of the Matterhorn in good weather - and all accompanied by top-notch electronic music on the terrace. An absolute highlight during our stay in Zermatt.

We stopped by here spontaneously to have a drink and were given a great spot in the front row by the deckchairs. I really enjoyed that. The location is absolutely great, the service is very courteous and professional with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. Can highly recommend the restaurant!

Nice view, tasty crispy chicken

Our party of 3 had a world class and scenic lunch at Chez Vrony at noon on a weekday. It is easy to access and see from the Findahl piste. It was immediately crowded with families and larger groups, so be sure to make a reservation. We tried the local salad bowl for 3 and the Gnocchi and Ravioli dishes. We loved the cheeses and flavors of each dish. The service was impeccable on the top floor of the restaurant and the bathrooms are nice. The Experience, Decor and ambiance is a solid 10/10, and the food and service does not disappoint.

What else should we write? Simply a great restaurant

The hike from Sunnegga station to the restaurant took us about 45 minutes, as we took our time to capture photos and appreciate the beautiful views of the Matterhorn. The service and food were excellent, and the ravioli is a must-try! If you're planning to visit on foot in winter, it's best to avoid windy or snowy conditions. The hike itself is mostly along very gentle ski slopes, and is generally relaxed and suitable for people of all fitness levels. We just wore ‘normal’ shoes and they worked fine. One very IMPORTANT thing before you go is to purchase a round trip ticket from Zermatt to Sunnegga (CHF 22.5), AS WELL AS a single ride Findeln chairlift ticket (CHF 10). This way, after the meal, you can easily return to Sunnegga by the Findeln chairlift, which is simply a 5 min further hike down from the restaurant. These tickets can be bought at the same time at the Sunnegga station ticket office in Zermatt. The Sunnega ride can be discounted 50% with a half fare card. We came across several groups of very unhappy visitors who struggled to hike back up to Sunnegga while we made our descent to the restaurant… We were lucky to have asked the restaurant about the chairlift beforehand.

A restaurant inside the ski pists that is a MUST. The setting here is amazing! You can have a meal with a direct view on the matterhorn! Additionally the food was really good and the prices really reasonable and the service very good. Overall we had a great experience so for sure recommended!

I had the pleasure of dining at Chez Vrony today. The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. I had the Bloody Mary soup for an entree, and the Mountain Goat Cheese Ravioli for the main course. The ravioli was the best I have ever had!!! 5 stars is not enough. Max was a great host and the wait staff were very friendly and helpful. And then there is the view of the Matterhorn. An outstanding and unforgettable experience!!!!

Stunning view on the Matterhorn and some of the sorrounding peaks, particularly from the sunny terrace. The food is delicious and worth the price (on the upper end but not exaggerated). It's rare to find tasty fresh fish in the mountains, but at Chez Vrony it is possible, highly recommended. Service was speedy and efficient.

A must in Zermatt! Chez Vrony is a must visit when you are in Zermatt. Excellent food, friendly service, great ambience and top view of the Matterhorn.

First of all, there is a restaurant called Paradise nearby that has a similar sensibility to Chez Vrony, and as of the date I visited, that restaurant had a higher rating and as I passed by, the number of customers was similar. I think it would be good to find out together. 1. Atmosphere: Perfect. Looking at the Matterhorn view while eating will bring you peace of mind. 2. Service: All staff are friendly. 3. Food: Swiss restaurants seem to have average food overall, but if you take that into account, the food is pretty good.

You know one of those places where the location is the selling point, and everything else doesn't matter? Hit and miss food, really ordinary table service. Vego's, don't get the vege burger. Awful. Truly awful. Get a suitable Rosti instead.

A very unique experience and involves a bit of a hike (literally) to get to. They have many seating options outdoors with great views of the surrounding area. The restaurant has a tasting menu for the indecisive and the key ingredients are all freshly sourced locally.

We ate an apero plate and drank an aperol with it. The platters were very rich and really delicious. The price was also absolutely clear, considering that the plate is recommended for 2-4 people. The four of us ate and we all had more than enough! As far as the service is concerned, I was also very satisfied. You get a very friendly welcome and the people there really put effort into their work, which I think is very nice. However, for my taste it should be a little more familiar (small talk at the table). On the whole, I would come back immediately to indulge in culinary delights.

We visited the restaurant Chez Vrony twice this August. Just for a drink. We also said straight away that we didn't want to eat anything. Nevertheless, we received a very friendly welcome, we were able to choose a table and were served very courteously. Another day we were early and decided to have a late lunch at Restaurant Chez Vrony. Again the service was perfect. The food was very fine. The restaurant is geographically perfectly located. Terrace with a view of the Matterhorn. A paradise place. We'll definitely come back at some point!

It's difficult getting there and even harder walking back but the view and the food is fantastic! I think it's easier visited on skis in winter. There's a gondola service at that time which wasn't available in summer.

We loved this place ! We stopped in after a long hike in the alps. The deck was amazing with a perfect view of the Matterhorn. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was top notch !

This place is amazing. I try to go as much as I can and it never disappoints! The view cannot get better, and the attention and food is fantastic. Don’t expect a cheap meal, you are in Zermatt and with that view, it is worth every swissie. You need a reservation, so make sure to book your table before. Great aperol spritz, better than many places in Zurich! And burger is amazing!

The finest in the most beautiful mountain world...

The food itself was quite good, but we also went in with incredibly high expectations and I don't think it quite met those. However, the atmosphere and service are both absolutely outstanding. We were served in super cozy lounge chairs facing the Matterhorn on a gorgeous day. The food presentation was fantastic, and the servers were very helpful, prompt, polite and considerate. They even, without hesitation, expertly helped stabilize a woman at another table who collapsed due to - probably altitude sickness.

High up on the mountain pasture and you will find a luxurious mountain hut with very friendly people who can cook excellently and also serve you delicious drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. A place you would like to visit every day! Short rain shower...no problem for the Chez Vrony team! Everyone goes into the hut and the short-term chaos is managed with a smile. Place to be!

Definitely very gourmet ! Had their house burger. it not just a simple burger. Amazing burger bun with seeds and delicious fresh beef patty! Gnocchi is to die for too. Everything is perfectly lovely. Service and environment are tip top.

A restaurant I came across while hiking. The atmosphere is so good and the view is so good that I stopped in my tracks without realizing it. Nice view of the Matterhorn while having a light beer The staff is friendly and the beer is delicious. I really want to come back next time I get a chance.

Absolutely great food, made with local ingredients, well worth the hike to get here. Service was excellent, and the view was also amazing. We had the salad with grilled goat's cheese, the salmon tatar, the hamburger, the prawn risotto, and the iced coffee. They were all amazingly tasty. Personally, I would have prefered to have less vinaigrette sauce on the salad (maybe it could come on the side?) but it's a question of taste. It was a wonderful experience, and I plan to go back.

We highly recommend this as it’s not just a meal, it’s an experience! Even though it was raining (and hailing briefly) we would do it again. The staff was accommodating. We were still able to sit outside and the staff provided us with blankets given it got chilly. The burger is a must try! We took the funicular to Sunnegga and the hike took about 15-20 mins at a very leisurely pace to Findeln. We were able to see marmots on our way down. After dinner, despite the rain we still hiked back to Zermatt which took about 1-1.5 hours. The hike is all downhill and can be steep. Reservations can be made on their website. Enjoy!

These mountain restaurants are expensive. But given the view, the impeccable service and the quality of food, I would say it’s more than justified. Sunnegga might not offer the best walks but it makes up for it with its restaurants.

Absolutely outstanding. The perfect Mountain restaurant. Vrony and Max are wonderful people, the service is excellent and words cannot describe the amazing food. The view from the terrace is one of the best in all Zermatt. Making this our new regular mountain restaurant.

Absolute madness 😍 you have to see it!

Arguably the best and the most famous restaurant with the Matterhorn view in Zermatt. The view is just phenomenal. The food and the service is fine and the price is quite reasonable. It is quite a walk down from the Sunnega station to the restaurant so plan ahead. It is also a challenging uphill journey after the meal so take a good rest after dining before returning home.

A recommendation from family friends for our honeymoon, and it did not disappoint. Easy walk down from Sunnegga with a view and wonderful menu!
