Nice Peruvian restaurant. Have had the brunch de la casa two times and have enjoyed it every time. The cost including drinks is also reasonable (for Zürich).

We have been trying a few different brunches around Zurich and I can easily say that the Cantina's one is some of the best food we had in the last few years. The staff was nice, the room very pleasant, but the food was the star of the show. We had the best french toast as part of the brunch menu, and that dish alone was worth the 5 starts. We will definitely visit again very soon.

The food was very tasty and the whole staff is super nice. We ate Pure de Camote, Causa Anticuhera, Cocolate y Mango. I can only recommend it.

Had my birthday brunch there the food was great we particularly liked the avocado toast and the french toast. The atmosphere is okay, it can be a bit loud at certain seats which makes it hard to talk.

+ Beautiful fresco; Staff smiles; delicious food (thanks for that!) - Staff does not speak German; this excludes people who don't speak English (or Spanish). (A short note might have been nice: e.g. "I'm currently learning the local language"). No free tap water, which I can't understand at all.

Very good food quality. A slight twist on the peruvian classics, which makes it unique. Food looks good and tastes good. Service was impeccable. I go back often and will continue to do so!

We went there for Brunch. The food was excellent and service was very friendly. Interestingly almost everything was began which meant that the vegetarian amongst us could share the dishes.

📝 We came for a late brunch and I was really positively surprised by all the great flavours: it's based on Peruvian cuisine but with a modern, westernized touch. Service was super polite. I can really recommend this place for a pleasant, somewhat less traditional brunch. 🍴 We had all sorts of dishes. In general, the size of each dish implies you should try at least 2 per person. I myself had tacu tacu and a small sandwich with chicharron: I was impressed by how much I liked it! The only thing I would have changed is the use of coriander in the sandwich since I don't like it. 📍 It's little further away from the main streets of the center but you can still very easily reach it by tram. The decor gives a nice, modern feel. They have an open kitchen.

We loved brunch! We ordered practically everything on the menu. 100% recommended! What we liked the most was the bread with avocado, the salmon, and the crepes.

Because of their pursue of maximum profit and selling a company of people a deal of 78 CHF, they didn’t worry to make those who only wanted a single meal feel almost like they have to leave. Shame.

Peruvian cuisine was beautifully showcased and the food was consistently delicious. The cheviche and the chocolate dessert were particularly excellent. In addition, there was a selection of authentic Peruvian drinks that rounded off the dining experience. The service was attentive and courteous. The ambiance of the restaurant was fine, although using the window ledge as a bench was a bit uncomfortable. Nevertheless, this did not have a negative impact on my overall impression. Overall, I can recommend the restaurant, especially for lovers of Peruvian cuisine and those looking for an authentic culinary experience.

I love Cantina! The food is fantastic and pure comfort. It's a refreshing change from the usual flavors in town. The presentation is great, with plenty of options for both meat lovers and vegans/vegetarians. Brunch is also excellent. The staff, both waiters, and kitchen, are super friendly. Prices are reasonable, especially for Zurich. The outdoor seating in summer is a nice bonus. Overall, one of my favorite places in Zurich!

A cool Peruvian restaurant! The two of us ordered 6 different plates to share. The dishes impressed with their taste and presentation. The service was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is also nicely decorated. However, the seating was relatively dense, which is why you can feel cramped. All in all it was a very nice evening!

We had a table with a view of the kitchen. It's unbelievable how many cooks spoil the porridge here 😉Friendly service, food ok to very good. Drinks good. A little too hectic for me. We had Croquetas, Cevice classico, Costilla de Res and Salmon Nikkei. Price-performance is more on the upper limit. But overall a nice experience.

Top experience in the heart of Kreis 4. Very nice food, all tapas style to be shared. Nice fusion of flavors, you can also see the kitchen working on the dishes. The environment is super festive, there's always nice lasting music, people singing in other tables, everyone is in a good mood. Also the crew is really nice, always willing to explain you all the different dishes and help you with anything you'd need. Tried also their cocktails and mezcal, all really good. Recommended!

The food is a sensation, beautifully prepared and very tasty! The price is rather high, but you are happy to pay a little more and you also get an experience.

Cantina offers wonderful modern peruvian cuisine. A mixture of authentic ingredients with a modern twist. We went there for the fabulous brunch menu. Every plate was yummy and decorated beautifully. I loved the peruvian Chicha Morada, which I never tried before - super sweet and refreshing! You need to try it out! 💖

One of our best discoveries in Zürich this year! The food is delicious, with a mix of authentic engredients and modern cooking that makes it really standout (the tapioca starter was one of my favorite!). The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed a top notch cocktail that made the evening even more special. Highly recommended for a night out in the vibrant Kalkbreite area

The food is very good and they have a few vegan options. The portions couldn't be a bit bigger IMO and the room was quite loud from other guests. Service was friendly as well.

Excellent brunch nearby Wiedikon station. They offer modern peruvian cuisine. Every plate was delicious and decorated beautifully. We will definitely come back again.

The service was really attentive and friendly, we celebrated a birthday and they had a special surprise for us! Don’t want to spoil the surprise but highly recommend it for a birthday. The Peruvian Cantina Restaurant is a real treat for lovers of diverse taste experiences. The possibility of ordering many delicious dishes to share makes it possible to discover a wide range of Peruvian cuisine. However, you have to be aware that this comes at a price and is not cheap. The individual dishes are rather small portions, but they are beautifully presented and offer an explosion of flavors. The lovingly furnished location, especially with some outdoor seating for summer evenings, creates a welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter John was extremely friendly and attentive. He led us through the various corridors and helped make our visit a great experience.

We had a great time sharing plates between colleagues at Cantina. We especially enjoyed the ceviche and the salmon. Also don’t miss on the lúcuma for dessert, it’s amazing.

Very cool, hip restaurant. Food was consistently good, great selection of vegan dishes. Service was very intrusive when it came to the quantity of food when ordering. We were there with a person who had stomach surgery and therefore can't eat that much. The employee therefore tried to explain to us three times how many dishes we had to eat according to their concept in order to be full. When we only wanted to take one gazpacho, he said that it couldn't be shared (?). Which of course worked. After we politely declined several times, it was fine.

The ambiance of the place is truly aesthetic and modern, with an added touch of being able to witness what is happening in the open kitchen. The food not only tastes amazing but is also a visual delight. Exceptionally friendly and efficient staff !

Not cheap but very tasty food and nice service.

We were here for brunch and 2 people got the surprise menu - which turned out to be incredibly underwhelming for the price (98CHF): 2 tiny cold soups, one empanada (16 CHF), one Tacu Tacu (22 CHF), one toast (not sure what it was), one french toast (20 CHF), some yoghurt with fried bananas. In any normal restaurant a menu comes with some discount. There’s absolutely no point in getting a surprise menu that you might not even like when you can get the exact same things (and of your choice) from the actual options listed. When we were first served food, we got two empanadas (one ordered separately) and the waiter FAILED to let us know that one was not part of the menu. We didn’t know so the people with the menu assumed it’s theirs. Then had to order another one although it was not our fault (and we were charged for it, which is 16 CHF). We were not told and the menu didn’t specify this. Tap water costs 3CHF/person. The food was good but not good enough to justify the price. Will avoid in the future.

Both pretty hidden and well known cafe at the same time, making me lucky to spot it on a sunny day some time ago. The atmosphere inside is very brunchy and cozy, with the right volume of music. Crispy pan col palta and juicy french tostada were super tasty, flat white was good as well (the latter could be a little stronger). In the evening the place transforms into a Peruvian restaurant with a wide choice of wines, looking forward to experience it as well.

Great experience, one of the best restaurant where I’ve been since a while! A modernised Peruvian cuisine that fill your heart and especially your belly, keeping you hydrated with a great Pisco sour! Difficult to suggest a single dish but if you are short of time I would opt for a quick ceviche and the ribs. But trust me… take your time to enjoy the full experience!!

A very good address to recommend! The service is a real plus!! The staff is attentive and professional. As for the food, we ordered the croquettas for the aperitif (very good), 4 dishes to share and a dessert. It's more than enough!! The fish ceviche was good but should be shared because it makes a lot for a starter for one person for example. Their “Chanchito pachamenca” is a real delight!!! On the other hand, we were a little disappointed by their planted chicken. Everyone has their own tastes, there’s something for everyone ☺️ The atmosphere is really nice! Both for a couple and between friends. The tables are a little small but that goes with the atmosphere of the restaurant! The price is right: 1 tapa, 4 dishes, 1 dessert, 4 drinks and 2 bottles of water for 175 chf

Super tasty food, but it's worth taking the menu for the price.

All in all: just above average. The food is very tasty and beautifully presented. However, very expensive for the quantity. 5 stalks of broccoli with a little vinaigrette for 9Chf? Or 4 tiny slices of baguette for 3 Chf? Phew. The service was OK for a “canteen”. You can tell that the team is still young and not very well-coordinated. One bad habit that I can do without in the whole of Zurich is: a bottle of tap water for 5Chf per person. Are you crazy? Even the empty words of sustainability don't help much.

Peruvian food and a good alternative to Barranco in Zurich. The restaurant is in a nice corner and is really cozy. We were there for lunch - the waitress doesn't speak German but was friendly. You can only say good things about the food - but for all of us the dishes only came lukewarm and we had to wait a long time for them!

The best dinner I’ve had in Zürich during my 14 years. We asked the waitress what she would recommend and she said if we want we can have a surprise menu. Which we obviously took because who doesnt love when you dont have to choose. Service was also amazing! Rare find.

Fancy hip Peruvian restaurant. It is quite loud inside, a bit hard to maintain a conversation as a group. Our waiter was very nice, explaining us the dishes and offering to make a selection for us what we could taste. It was though a bit too much for us, and as each dish is very expensive, we ended up paying over 70chf per person with drinks. It is not a very fast service. My personal highlight are the 2 ceviches, such flavours I can barely describe, they are insanely good. The potatoes dish is a bit basic, the snacks are also a very good choice.

We tried the ceviche, the pescadito frito, chicharones, spare ribs, lucuma dessert. Everything was tasty and really delicious. Also the pisco sour was great. The place is quite simple, style that I personally like. The service was really friendly.

We took 2 meals per person one salty and one sweet and it was a great discovery. Bonus point for the nice weather and they had open all the windows so it looked like being an outdoor place. We’ll come back

I went for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We had 3 starters, 2 mains, 1 dessert 1 bottle of white wine 1 bottle of water and two glasses of wine for 250 chf. The starters where really good but the mains where not as impressive and the chocolate dessert was quite bland. They do potatoes really well. Two of our starters had crispy potatoes that was super and the mashed potatoes to the main dish was sooo good. The service was good. Nothing exceptional but friendly and attentive. The food came out in at a very good pace. The decor is really nice. We sat outside and the table size was good (not to small) and the distance to other tables was also good. Bathrooms where clean. I’m glad I tried this restaurant. If I go again I’ll just order all the starters and maybe share one main dish.

It's ok! Staff does the minimum so that it is just neutral, food is not spectacular either (for this hefty price). Map including dish naming requires a lot of explanation… Cool ambience & interior, great music. 💡Idea: 1. More veggies! 1 vegi main course, 1 optional vegi that doesn't go well with the vegi starter at all out of about 8 main courses -> not enough. 2. Improve service and/or make the map self-explanatory 😉

Nice location and athmosphere! Very overpriced, small portions, too salty. How can a starter be around 27 compared to the dishes? So sorry but do not recommend.

I really enjoyed coming here after also experiencing there other amazing restaurant. I came for brunch and tried a few dishes. The service was very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was upbeat and the food and the Bloody Mary cocktail was my favourite it was very good! I would like to come back to try other options than brunch. I recommend highly!

We visited this restaurant for a dinner with a group of friends. We ordered a lot of food, drinks and a bottle of wine. The waiter brought the bottle of wine and one of the friends, who has a good education in wine, tasted it. It did not taste right and he rejected the bottle. The waiter took it back and went away. Then, out of the blue, another waitress (Andrea) came back with the same bottle of wine. She was very loud, assertive and asked why the wine was rejected. Our friend explained the reasons why. She said that she cannot take the bottle back because she thinks there is nothing wrong with the wine. She also asked our friend 'Did you read what is written about the wine on the menu?', implying that he had no idea what he was ordering. Our friend was sitting there stunned and not sure what to respond. Andrea put the bottle on our table, said she will give us a discount and walked away with a huge smile and extremely proud that she forced us to keep the bottle. Then she asked if the friend who rejected the wine wants to try a house wine which is sold by the glass. He answered that it was a full body and wouldn't fit with the meal. She brought a glass for him to taste anyway. The taste of the wine was awful and he said he will not drink it. Then she went away and just never came back with any other suggestions. As for the food, the ceviche starter was really nice. The main of short ribs was ok (the meat was not as tender as expected), the duck leg with rice was alright. The brioche dessert was wonderful. And finally, the place is very noisy and you cannot have a normal conversation. But mostly we were astonished by the terrible and very forceful service by the particular waitress. We are frequent restaurant visitors but have never been treated like this.

I recently had brunch at Cantina with a group of friends, including a child, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious and the location was very nice. The price-performance ratio is also fair due to the high quality. Unfortunately, I found the staff to be very unfriendly and sometimes derogatory when dealing with the guests - but not all of them! Our waitress didn't give us very good advice, seemed annoyed/bored and, despite a very generous tip after payment, disappeared with a snippy attitude without saying thank you.

Eating is difficult - everything is lukewarm when it's good. The staff is quite unfriendly and due to the double occupancy of the tables, you have to leave quickly when the new guests arrive - ah yes and then the price - I would ever understand that at McDonalds. But at least the employees at McDonalds can speak German.

I was hoping for more from the Barranco makers. The food was very average. The employees were nice, but unfortunately there was no Peruvian warmth to be felt.

Was here for brunch and the dishes were very tasty and the interior is elegant. What stood me off were the prices. 16 chf for an empanada and 28 chf for a waffle with 1 scoop of ice. They do recommend to have two plates per person. With 2 people we paid 125 (no alcohol included). I don’t mind spending money for quality food at all but this was not in balance. Now if the staff would smile or just be friendly it would make it a bit better but all of them acted like hipsters who are too cool for school and are in urgent need of a hospitality training.

I rarely write reviews for restaurants but Cantina deserves the 5 stars I have given. Truly fantastic! I'm still thinking about the dinner I had a week later! I went with friends after having heard nothing but fantastic praise about this restaurant! We were all there for the first time and we got the big private table in the back (highly recommend booking/asking for that table as it was quiet and perfect for conversation). The music was just loud enough that it took away the focus from the noise around the restaurant but we could still talk and laugh and hear one another perfectly at the table. The ambience feels relaxed, young, fresh, and cool! So the night starts with these amazing cocktails that tasted like a spicy Aperol spritz. Very unique! Our waitress was open-minded enthusiastic full of energy and a total foodie! She not only paired our food with a fantastic bottle of wine but also proceeded to ask us where we are from and recommended fantastic niche restaurants in Paris. The food was SENSATIONAL, truly! It is very difficult to find food at that calibre for this price in Zurich. Value for money? Brilliant! We had the two ceviches, (one is vegan but trust me it's so worth it if you enjoy a bit of spice), we ordered the short ribs and the duck, and then both deserts, the tres leches cake and the chocolate mousse. One of my friends has a gluten allergy and the waitress was very accommodating towards this. The tres leches cake was incredible (I'm still thinking about it) and the mescal pretty much cured my seasonal depression. I left feeling satisfied but not "heavy full" and very happy! Cannot wait to go back and try their brunch menu! If there is anything I would recommend cantina to add to the experience that would make it above and beyond (more so than it already is) is a check-in system as they do in similar-style restaurants in London. Meaning an automated text message or email is sent to the person who booked the reservation 1-2 days later asking how the experience was and thanking them for eating at Cantina. This is a great way to build relationships with customers and allows them to know Cantina is focused on making sure the experience is excellent for everyone every time. Other than that.... you guys knocked it out of the PARK! Instantly on my list of favourites!

Average-looking place in a trendy area of town. Tried hard to convince myself at least something about it was worth the money. Failed miserably. Fries with mayo, underkooked eggs with bernaise, avocado toast, more undercooked eggs. …Wait, is the 2012 hipster-hype back?? Star of the menu - quinoa waffle with dulce de lece plus ice cream - yours for a mere 28 chf. …Ok boys, which of you has actually been to Lima??

Lovely background music, good atmosphere and very fine food After 2h of enjoing our brunch and chat, on saturday morning, they told us, that the tabel is sold a second time and they would like to bring the bill. We paid, the plain tap water CHF3.- p.P., and we left. Parking area for bikes doesn't exist come by public transport!

Unfortunately very disappointing experience. Very stressful - we were still eating the starter when they started serving the main. They remove the plate of one person while 3 of us were still eating, but then it took them 20min to serve us 2 pisco sour. What you get for the price is unfortunately not in a relation. Very sad, as we really like Barranco. Exactly 1.5 hours later they asked us to leave. Tastewise boring and the dishes were cold. Mashed patatoes were good.
