This is a Swiss restaurant located right behind Grindelwald station. The taste is very delicious and I think the quality exceeds the price. The staff's service is excellent and you can enjoy your meal comfortably. There seems to be a distinction between seats where you can eat cheese fondue and seats where you can't, so I think it's better to tell them when you make a reservation or when you enter the restaurant that you're going to eat cheese fondue.

We had lunch at this restaurant while waiting for the train. Restaurant located at very strategic location. We ordered pasta, fondue, and schnitzel. Good taste and service was also very good. The staff were polite and provided excellent service. Recommended place to eat at Grindelwald.

It's right near the station, so it's easy to get to and the view is pretty!! I was very satisfied with the fondue and French fries. Be sure to eat them, especially since they taste like sausage.

Average food, quick service (reheated?). We arrived at 2 p.m. and were given the small card which was not mentioned on the website. Great disappointment to have your choices very limited

We ate here 3 times on our recent trip to grindelwald. The fondue was amazing on two of the nights but the 3rd it didn't taste the same. The macaroni was great one night but no flavour and soggy pasta on the next night. We found the restaurant to be a bit inconsistent. However it was still the nicest and friendliest place in the area which we enjoyed and the fondue and service were pretty good.

Amazing restaurant! All produce fresh and tasty, all items are from local farmers or the lakes. All staff members are friendly and welcoming. For the price and cozy atmosphere of this hotel restaurant doesn’t compare to anything else in the area, other restaurants rely on frozen and imported food. If it was possible it would have 10 stars for everything.

Really bad experience. Not recommend at all. Firstly, the woman server is mean. She is impatient with us (Asians) but patient with other people. Especially, she rolled her eyes with us just because we asked for our foods after 30 minutes waiting. I think that’s a fair request. And we asked politely. The other guests were keeping making noise and she still smiles with them. Also, the food is just so so. I eat fish bones in the fillets. And it’s really expensive. 140 CHF for two )

Disappointing restaurant. I was in Grindelwald with foreign friends and had food and drinks in the restaurant. The menu is boring and the food is also of poor quality. The prices are excessive for what you ultimately get. The service was friendly but unmotivated. If things continue like this in Switzerland, tourists will soon stop coming. Either luxury segment or cheap fast food. This is of course my subjective opinion about the hotel/restaurant Föhrenstube/Derby. Unfortunately no more than 1 star 🌟 can be given.

Bad service and absolutely unscheduled staff… For every tourist who wants a good fondue there are plenty of restaurants a bit further away that provide a much higher quality. Less than 1 star is not possible, that's why 1* here...

Cool traditional swiss restaurant. The alpine macaroni was delicious, love the apple sauce in it; and the puff pastry starter was great too. The bolognese sauce was good, but the pasta was a bit plain, could use more sauce. Service was great.

Tasty food. I ordered the breaded trout with rice and vegetables. The service was great and the price was consistent with the region, around 30-40 CHF per person.

Traditional swiss beautiful decoration with good food. This restaurant is nearby the terminal bus stop at Grindelwald. They also got Michelin 2012. Worth trying.

The fondue was absolutely divine but I was disappointed with the fish -- too buttery and the vegetables were just average.

The staff was very unfriendly. The fondue was ok, but we were forced to get 2 portions because we were 2 adults. It was our first time having fondue so we just wanted to try 1 and it is impossible for 1 person to finish that whole load of melted cheese. It is ridiculous how they treat the guests. I would never visit this place again. @Hotel Management: Please train your staff/waiters to be friendly and welcoming, don‘t behave as if you are giving free food and service. OR put your (rude) rules at the door so everyone knows what to expect and better not go in if that doesn‘t suit us.

The food was terrible, fries were dry and not salted, Älplergaronen, the potatoes were too dry, Spagetthi Napoli even microwave ready meals are better! Bread is dry and hard. Staff unable to calculate how old you are, ID is looked at by all employees and instead of asking straight away at the beginning, the employee goes to her colleague, who then watches you from the door and speaks over you, where you are over 4 star restaurant feels very uncomfortable (it was about wine) wine or water is not refilled, which is actually familiar from other restaurants. Service is generally very dubious, while working she often talks to or gives kisses to other guests who she apparently knows but other tables are waiting to be served. We actually made a reservation when we arrived but there was no reservation, incompetent. Toilet cleanliness, hygiene is non-existent. Not recommended for this food and hospitality.

Had the schnitzel with pork in a very nice creamy mushroom sauce. I don’t eat pork often so the texture was something I wasn’t used to, but still good. My daughter had the macaroni and cheese and according to her it was excellent. Might be a tourist trap but still good and close to train station.

I walked in this restaurant cheerfully greeting the server and asking him how he is. I just thought maybe that would lighten up the first encounter given the series of attitude we have been getting from all the WHITE people in Europe. He was a bald guy and could barely speak to us properly, so much attitude but he smiles and laughs at the other white customers. I am so sick of these treatments i almost want to make a scene in front of everyone. Anyway we ordered the fondue which honestly not that great i have had better . And the macaroni pasta was decent. To the management of this hotel and restaurant, please work on your social skills and be warm to all people white brown black. We are one human race ! You tear ur skin i tear mine we are same ! Have some decency.

My wife wanted to have fondue so we walked into this restaurant. We were recieved by one of the waiters (bald guy) in a very unwelcoming manner evenafter we greeted upon stepping in. His attitude and service towards us and other white people was totally different. I didnt wanted to walk away as my wife desperately wanted to have fondue dish. Also, the guy told us that we cant just order one fondue instead he insisted us to pick something else or order two fondue. I ordered some macroni with cheese not that I like macroni but i didnt wanted to order two same dish. The food wasnt that great too. My message to the restaurant is “if you want people to eat from your restaurant then you better educate your waiters on treating every customer equally!” Keep in mind that we give business to you.

Fondue was really good. Staff came off as unfriendly. Overall vibe of the restaurant was a bit strange and bordered on unwelcoming.

Service wasn’t great and food was average. My husband and I signal the server that we were ready to order . She said “just a minute” . I went to the washroom and return and server did not take our order. The server was cleaning up table, bring menus to tables, clean more tables, serve food but to take our order . I don’t get it . We waited and I timed 20 mins for our order to be taken . And they were very hurry to clear our table . There are so many restaurants and I wouldn’t recommend

Located directly at the train station. But this doesn't bother you in the slightest. A special feature, in my opinion, is the large number of staff. Everyone is very friendly. The food is delivered quickly and tastes very good. The prices are typically at Swiss levels. Yew main course for around 25 francs. Credit card payment possible.

Waited for a table for 2 this evening. We were ignored by 4 of the waiters that passed by us. We ended up having a lovely dinner elsewhere.

A disappointment! We actually wanted to enjoy a cozy fondue evening in Gade from the Derby Restaurant. It started with the Covid certificate check, was just skimmed over, not noticing that I had shown the same thing twice for myself and my girlfriend. Oh well... Fondue ordered with potatoes, onion rings, gherkins and pearl onions. While you're waiting, take a closer look at the fork, it can be dirty on both sides. Fondue forks are tricky. The new, clean one was in tip top condition. Then the plates were handed out, oops mine was dirty, an absolute no go! Finally the food arrives, bread was definitely not freshly cut, potatoes had probably been warmed up several times because the skin was very wrinkled, pickles were a bit soggy, but the best thing was the silver onions. Tried one, didn't taste good, tried another one, somehow not good. My colleague next to me said succinctly that they were definitely no longer good. I then took the plate and held it under the chef de service's nose and let him taste it. What can I say, once I bit into it I spit it out again. That says it all! The feedback from toilet users wasn't good either. To be fair, I have to say that we were given the fondue waiver. I would say it would probably be better to completely close the door downstairs into the hallway/rear room. Don't want to go into the kitchen and check how the goods are stored. A food inspector would probably be good for an all-round inspection. It's a real shame, we were extremely disappointed, especially when two three of us told our group at breakfast that they had gone to the toilet several times during the night, due to food! The positive thing about the whole thing was the great food we had in Uncle Tom's Hut on Saturday evening. Like day and night. Staff pleasant and friendly, food top. Completely recommended!

We were looking for Fondue and this restaurant was recommended to us by employees of another hotel. We got there around 5:15 p.m. The restaurant was practically empty. We waited for someone to greet us and lead us to a table. An elderly waiter with glasses ignored us terribly and didn't even respond to my greeting, he just ran around nervously with the plate. This behavior was very unprofessional and ignorant. I entered the little stool and approached another gentleman who treated us nicely. We ate Foundue which was ok, Arneis wine was also good

Great hotel, deserves four stars. Kitchen, staff, sauna, friendliness, view and public spaces highly recommended. Great cuisine, but no idea about spaghetti Bolognese. Small lack of parking options. You have to hand over the key so that someone can repark your car. Unfortunately not my case, but the "friendly woman" at the reception took me 200m (even though I'm not a good walker and there was still parking in front of the house). to the distant parking garage.

Modern and clean rooms and in the Föhrenstube it is a pleasure to be served. The kitchen staff deserve praise, as does the friendly and competent service staff. My first visit hear was very bad, with me leaving again still hungry after being ignored by staff. Gave them a second chance and it was a good experience with a very attentive waitress. Just wished the Rahmschnitzel came with more sauce (and the traditional peach half).

Food was normal I ordered a beer/stage and got a panage/shandy Ordered spaghetti Bolognese and Parma straw cheese, but I haven't seen or eaten any of the cheese so far. In the end I wanted to pay and had to ask twice to pay and wait 10 minutes each time. I don't recommend the restaurant

Come ospite dell'hotel ho avuto modo di provare la cucina del ristorante e devo dire che sono rimasto soddisfatto: in cucina c'è personale italiano! Soddisfatto soprattutto dei piatti locali, ma anche gli internazionali sono promossi. Servizio molto cortese e professionale.

Found plastic and mud in our mushroom soup. We were sick after that. I do not recommend. Fortunately they did not make us pay for the soup. Yet unprofessional and not safe.
