Desperado in Gerlafingen

The food was very good and the service staff was very friendly. However, we waited a bit long for the food as they have a new chef. It is a rather lively (noisy) restaurant.

After we were warmly welcomed by the waiter and he sat us down at a table, we were left behind for 10 minutes. Instead of offering us cards, he brought new customers to the table who he apparently knew privately. The waiter lingered there instead of serving the waiting customers. A friendly employee noticed this after a while and finally served us. Regarding the food, the starter was good. You can recommend the vegetarian mix platter for 2 people or more with a clear conscience. However, the main course was miserable. The meat (spare ribs) is tough and tastes inedible. The rice was still half raw and also inedible. For the price an absolute no go..

The best Mexican I've ever visited. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating. The food is super delicious. Especially the corn on the cob. I had never eaten corn as good as I did here. We paid 350 for 7 people. Absolutely OK. I've paid more in other restaurants for fewer people. The volume of the music could be a little quieter. For my taste, the volume of the music was at the highest limit.

The ambience and service is really 10/10. Very friendly conditions that have everything under control. The visit was really a great pleasure and can be recommended to everyone, just because of the service and the ambience. The food (we had fajitas) was also good but not outstanding. The meat was very tasty, as were the fajitas and sauces, but it was a shame that the vegetables with the meat were not fresh but canned. However, it comes served very hot in a small cast iron pan, which is great.

We were there for the second time and it won't be the last time either... A good Mexican with a good price-performance ratio... We're already looking forward to our next visit there and a big thank you to the entire team 👍🙏

Service staff absolutely friendly, always ready to have fun. Even the boss is at the forefront and takes time for his guests. It was really a nice evening and the fact that you can take what you don't like with you is another plus point. Keep it up!

Just perfect! We were with you today for the first time, but not the last! Service very friendly, polite, but still humorous. The employees can behave in an exemplary manner. The food was spot on (steak and burrito). My 🍸 was also very fine and strong (didn't skimp on the alcohol). Great atmosphere. Luckily, even though we didn't have a reservation, we still got a table. Dedicated friendly staff. The food tastes good like in other Desperado's. Large selection of vegan / lactose.- Gluten-free food. Lambbräu beer type is also GF.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area. Very nicely decorated and the food is always very good. A little tip on birthdays, the food is free and there is a dessert included, just take your ID with you.

When the weather was cool, we sat in the winter garden. It was very loud because every table was occupied. The food was super good and the waiter was super nice.

We (7 people) celebrated my father's birthday at Desperardos on Saturday, September 16th, 2023. The staff in the restaurant were all very friendly and in a good mood. The meal was excellent. We can really recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back!

We were at Desperados in Gerlafingen for the first time. A wonderful ambience, especially the beautiful garden, with fountain, bar, children's playground and many places to linger! There are finally enough parking spaces, which are also free. As always, the food and service were excellent and courteous, we will definitely visit more often. Thank you for allowing us to have such a great evening!

We went here for dinner today on the occasion of my birthday and were overwhelmed. The atmosphere is very appealing, the entire staff is extremely friendly. Our food, from starters to dessert.....simply first class. The meat is tender, the vegetables are fresh, the salad is crunchy. The cocktail is incredibly delicious. Highly recommended and worth more than just 5 stars. And to top it off, I got a birthday song sung live. Thank you very much for this lovely evening. We'll definitely be happy to come back.

We went to the birthday party at Desperado Gerlafingen on August 9th, 2023. As usual, the Mexican cuisine was really great, and above all always of top quality, which unfortunately is no longer a given today. The outdoor ambience on a beautiful summer night offers the perfect place for a cozy get-together. From the music to the lighting to the babbling of the fountain, everything is there. The always very polite and courteous service is also very commendable. People still enjoy working there. Keep it up and we are already looking forward to the next visit. Thank you

Ambience is good and staff friendly. Unfortunately, many alcoholic drinks on the menu cannot be ordered. The worst thing, however, is the food. I love Mexican food and I don't like it at all in this restaurant. As if almost everything was canned and the ingredients weren't fresh. I won't go there anymore.

My mother, my sister and I went to eat at Desperado on the Friday after I graduated from school. The food was extremely good. There was a little bit of sauce on the nachos, otherwise everything was good. The service was friendly and accommodating. But in my opinion a little too fast. The ambience was great. Super nicely designed and the minibar was also very well designed. Really a great restaurant!

We were there the week of the reopening and were very, very disappointed! Well, 1 year later we gave the whole thing another chance. Food was great👌🏻 Service was also good despite the language barrier and the waitress's first day. She really tried very hard. All in all it was really good and we will definitely come back 🍹🍴

I've been there a lot in the past, we've been there twice since the reopening and are very satisfied. The staff is very nice and accommodating 👍 and the upper floor is beautifully decorated like a tree house 🌙

Very disappointed. This restaurant used to be very tasty and had very friendly staff. Food wasn't tasty at all. Service was very bad, the waiter came 3 times to ask who ordered what and then brought the wrong thing. Said three times without cheese but unfortunately this didn't work. Asked for salt, never got it. Bring the main course while you're still eating the starter - NO-GO! Once after reopening and never again ;-)

It was so great, nothing went well there last summer and I never wanted to eat there again! Then my daughter told me that it was really nice again and the service was great! The employees are very, very unfriendly! Everything else you would expect! It's no surprise that the restaurant is always empty when we drive past... As soon as we arrived we left and didn't even feel like eating there! It can't be that the employees whistle at the guests as if they were a dog... They have a lot to learn as people...

Compared to the other desperados (ZH, BE) you get really good food here at a fair price. The employees are ALWAYS friendly and motivated!

Very friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere. The food came quickly and was also very tasty. Prices are a bit high but the portions are also large.

We were able to experience a very nice stag party and the bride-to-be was even surprised with a great dessert (with a sparkler etc... :-P). Very nice and courteous staff who were always attentive. Food was delicious too :-)

I'm really surprised at the negative statements. The Desperado has only recently reopened and we found the food to be great and the staff to be friendly and attentive. We felt comfortable. We asked again and again whether everything was OK with us. We'll definitely come back. *****

We ate in this restaurant in August 2022. We had reserved. However, there were no more parking spaces available for us in front of the restaurant, even though there were only about 8 tables with 4 people each occupied. The operating staff spoke exclusively High German or broken High German (there was no waitress with a Mexican background, more of an Eastern European background). The waitress was unable to answer questions about one or the other dish. The fajitas were a bit heavily salted and seasoned. The street noise with the car posers was annoying. The toilet could be checked more regularly. It wasn't such a pretty sight. All in all a bad experience, felt like a stranger.

Very nice shady location with a great atmosphere, you can even sit on a platform in the trees with a larger group. But there seem to be too few service staff on site. It takes forever to be served and sometimes you have to ask. This can still be improved. Also in the presentation (garlic bread quite bland) You could still do it. But the taste was excellent, well seasoned with the desired spiciness as far as Mexican food is concerned. Little tip. If the beer has been sitting on the counter for a long time, fill the glasses with a little foam just before you serve.

We arrived and were almost sent home again. We made a reservation online and then he claimed where I showed the email that this was not the confirmation. But it said exactly in the email that your reservation was confirmed. He still gave us a table even though they were fully booked. But after 8 p.m. the restaurant was still half empty. Ok, food as before, but service at the bottom drawer! The waitress has no idea what's on the menu and says you have to show her it on the menu. Then serve dessert with your mouth full!!!!!!! Sure, there are a lot of guests, so there's no time for a break, but serving the food while eating and speaking with your mouth full??? Then payment: just want to pay with a card, another waiter comes and takes the device away, our waitress perplexed. We wait with her for 5 minutes, but the boss comes and collects money from us. We still tip CHF 5.00 but receive neither a smile nor a thank you. Unprofessional, unfriendly - that was it for us. We are happy to take the route to Desperado Moosseedorf.

Went to dinner at the newly opened Desperados today. Service professionals are totally disorganized. Glasses are served individually and are placed at the top of the drinking rim, food is served after 10 minutes. Spare ribs were lukewarm, warm on the outside, cold on the inside, had the feeling that the food was just being warmed up. The accompanying sauce was probably served several times or was left out all day. It was not asked whether everything was OK. 4 waiters served us. In the end I said it wasn't okay. No request for dessert, coffee or anything like that. I've seen it...

Had tel. Reserved, our reservation wasn't entered and the boss was already annoyed. Gave us a table and the menus. Drinks were not asked. Starter garlic bread and fried onion rings, everything from the frozen food, the sauce wasn't fresh. They had just eaten the starter and were already there with the main courses. Chilli con carne was good. Hamburger with chicken breast was very bad. Bun was soggy cold Pulet wasn't crispy. Corn on the cob was warmed up and not seasoned. Tacos were too spicy (spiciness level?) Were not crispy. Our complaint was shrugged off. Very unfriendly boss. Will never go there again and will not recommend it to anyone. Was very disappointed.
