Dreiländereck in Basel

From the Kleinhüniengen BUS station, walk through a rarely visited industrial area for about 1 km. At the end of the peninsula in the middle of the Rhine River, you can see a rocket-shaped monument. This is the monument where Switzerland, France and Germany meet. It is a very ordinary monument, but the feeling is quite profound. Compared with many neighboring countries on the earth that are hostile to each other, the residents here can travel freely between the three countries within 10 minutes without restrictions. The value of peace is too precious.

Parked in Germany, Rhein Center, crossed the border. Otherwise you need a vignette. Walk approx. 20 minutes. It's OK, you can do it.

The most boring sight I've ever seen. The way there on the right side of the Rhine is quite nice, but it's really not worth it for the result. Really disappointing.

The place is famous for being on the three borders or three countries at the same time. Bus 11 takes about 40 minutes from the station. Tickets are taken from green ticket machines located everywhere. Prices depending on the time you have to go around 1h 9h 24h from vary from about 4 to 10 fr. Walk along the Rhine river, the view is great. Souvenirs, a keychain with a Swiss knife, can be found from 8 to 20 fr.

Unfortunately the bar is still being set up, so nothing special anymore...

There is not much to do here in February. Nice walk there, but it is a bit of a search from Germany. We parked the car in the large shopping center where you can park for 3 hours for free with a parking disc. But the walk is worth it.

A beautiful place, where you can breathe calm and tranquility, without a doubt one of the Landmarks of the city due to its historical importance.

It's cool to see the three borders, but there is almost nothing else there.... Nice walk by the river, though!

The monument where the three countries meet is a large iron pylon in the shape of a rocket with the flags of France, Germany and Switzerland on the tails. Technically, the tripoint where France, Germany and Switzerland meet is in the middle of the Rhine river. But since we can't really put up a monument there, the Swiss have put up the Dreiländereck on the Swiss side of the border which is as close as you can get on dry land. Interesting to the map nerds, this is one of only 157 *national* tripoints worldwide and the only one in a major city. The spot is part of the Swiss freight port but is accessible by car and via a footpath that is only about 1 km from Kleinhüningen metro stop.

After I thought I had a good time as I drove past the junk, I went to the top of the harbor. The monument could also be seen there. I would have liked to have stayed a moment longer, but I was able to do so due to the lack of toilets.

Place that could be very interesting and is almost abandoned

It is a very wonderful and beautiful place, where three countries meet, and the subject of their flags is at the meeting point in the form of a small extended roundabout, surrounded by river water on both sides, and there are herbs and a beautiful view. At this point, there are the flags of the three countries engraved on a metal tower that points in its direction to the flag of each country. The countries are Germany 🇩🇪, France 🇫🇷, and Switzerland 🇨🇭. A place worth visiting, there is a bridge in front of it that connects France and Germany as well.

Well, personally I was unimpressed.

Great monument, it is not at the exact location of the border which is in the middle of the Rhine otherwise great no need for a ticket it's free and there is a restaurant next to the monument if you go there take the tram line 8 market 10-15 minutes or if you go by car there is parking on site.

Wonderful place where Switzerland, France and Germany meet

Not the easiest photo spot in Switzerland to find. The route to the photo spot is not particularly attractive and you ask yourself several times whether you are still on the right path. But once you get to the spot itself, the view is worth it. Not as idyllic as other photo spots - but still honest and impressive.

The monumental structure shows the intersection of the borders of three countries, namely France, Switzerland and Germany. By walking around the monument, you symbolically set foot in all three countries. At this point, the view of the river is also beautiful.

There is no bridge there, then you could go directly to DE and FR after a walk

A must visit for tourists! The only place in Europe where you can set foot in all the 3 countries in less than 2 minutes.

I was scared for my life. Don’t go after sunset. Please. Better go to Three countries Bridge on the German side. There is a very nice shopping complex too.

The triple border is very interesting, but the place is somewhat abandoned, in need of cleaning and maintenance. Access is also bad, on the pier, behind a bar. But for tourists, it's worth the oena to go and register.

What a fun spot to be “in 3 places at once” Be weary when going with little ones as it is a very industrial area and there not much of a walking area unless you’re along the river. But once you’re there you can’t missed it!

It's not easy to get there by car. A short walk and few parking spaces. You have to walk down a few stairs. It is not very special, but just in terms of feeling that you have been there. The view is beautiful. Probably when the weather is nice or high season, it gives a different feeling.

It's a little difficult to find its location. You may ask: Where am I going?

Totally run down! Even the path to the border triangle shows traces of vandalism and neglect. The monument itself is in a heavenly condition that is not worthy of Basel! The place is a stop on the Grand Tour... The monument is on Swiss soil. The border triangle itself lies in the middle of the Rhine.

Not worth going out of your way for this spot. Not a great part of town. Not a pretty walk. I would’ve expected a better marker.

See three countries from one place.

We were also lured by the supposed “tourist destination”. 10 minutes walk from the tram for this run-down complex. Of course you have the three countries in mind, but you don't have to go there specifically.

The location it's self is interesting and has some stunning views, however the walk to it is really disappointing and the monument has been vandalised quite a bit

Nice and relaxing. The views are not great apart from going towards the French/German border. Corporate parties are a bit of a pain.

Distinctive viewpoint known throughout Switzerland. With a view of the pedestrian bridge that leads from Weil D to Huningue F.

Underwelming monument somewhere in the nowhere without any public transportation close. Can’t recommend going there just to see it.

There were a lot of weeds at the 3 country pillar. Unfortunately not so nice.

This is an iconic monument that you can walk across from Switzerland, France and Germany in 15 seconds. This place is a little far from the center of Basel by walking and I persisted on walking and came and saw☺️And as most stated, crossing three countries in 15 seconds on foot is a really interesting experience☺️😄 If you come to Basel, definitely stop by and have this experience😇

The 3-country corner in Basel is a unique place where the borders of Germany, France and Switzerland meet. It is a popular tourist destination and offers breathtaking views of the Rhine. There is also a cool location nearby, especially a bar called “Sandoase”.

It's hard to find because it's at the far end of the island.

A building that is a symbol of Basel. It's a little difficult to access, but it's a nice walk along the river to get there. There are also easy-to-understand photo spots, and I think they look great on a sunny day.

Nice walk to the tripoint moniment. It was really quiet with only a few people, so a nice place to relax and just admire the view

A place at the junction of the three countries of Switzerland, Germany and France. Some people walk around several times to count their extra stay in different countries))) Nearby there is a parking lot, a restaurant, and a pier for cruise ships on the Rhine River.

Not maintained, tucked away behind a lot of industry, but symbolic, nice to spend 10 minutes. Beautiful view over the Rhine.

3 countries from Basel in Switzerland. Nice to do, no longer than 15 minutes. There is 1 restaurant in the area, but we did not use it because it was still closed.

It's always nice to visit a three-country point to say you've been there. It wasn't that interesting. Little explanation but nice idea. It is also not exactly at the three-country point because it is in the water. But anyway, it's nice that I was there.

Looks a bit worn out. Still interesting to see. You can park nearby in front of the sand oasis for 1.1 euros per hour. Payment only with coins or when using an app

Most unpleasant place on earth. Ugly, unpleasant. The statue resembles a ruptured nuclear missile.

Curious but to get there you have to cross several level crossings without a barrier with the car

The first visit was 35 years ago and now the environment has become very different. I was glad to be here again.

You HAVE to go see the Tri point if you are visiting Basel. There is nothing there at all and it is located in an industrial estate so be careful with little kids when crossing the roads and paths but still a cool point to visit and say you have been.

Very nice. We had been to Koblenz. You can see many sights. I was amazed by the city.

You have to walk a little bit through the harbor area to reach this point. If that's too far for you, I recommend the bridge opposite.

It's beautiful, the Sandoase restaurant bar next door is cool but it's full every time, there's nothing we can do about it, too bad the view is cool

A unique experience. Strangely too few people

This looked like an amazing venue. It was closed when we walked oast but looked like a lit of fun.

Had very nice weather that day. This sand bar is a very nice location. Great view. Good drinks, good snacks and very friendly staff.

Out of the way and nothing too special but it's still a cool visit. It seems quiet and you get good views of the river.

It is a very particular signature sculpture, built by a Swiss architect and a Hungarian mathematician. It is an interesting walk along the Rhine or by land.

Walked from the nearest tram stop (Swiss side) and took almost half an hour to reach the convergence point. It is interesting to stand at a point where 3 countries meet. Thers is a restaurant with open space.

It's nice when you can't see 3 countries from one place!

This corner of three countries is perhaps the most special in the whole world, as others are either difficult to reach (mountain tops or or nobody's lands) or still under disputes (war reasons etc.). And here you can enjoy food or look at the ships come and go.

A long walk to get to the point, once there it turned out not to be worth it... walking across the three-country bridge was more fun.
