The service is a disaster. Even if a long queue forms, the service staff in the container work in slow motion. You get the impression that the staff doesn't care. Despite the beautiful location, I will no longer visit this company. Hopefully it will be put out to tender again and a more service-oriented operator will be awarded the contract.

Unfortunately I can't give a good rating either. Last night at 5:30 p.m. we (6 people) stood in line for a long 20 minutes to order our drinks. There was only one (friendly) employee at the counter who took a lot of time to complete the order. The drinks we ordered (Hugo and Aperol) were terribly bad, one was way too sweet, the other was too watery, i.e. extremely light red because there wasn't enough Aperol in it. The non-alcoholic drinks had no taste. It's a real shame to get such bad drinks in such a beautiful place, the menu is original and one hopes the drinks are just as sophisticated. Unfortunately it was clear to all of us that we would have to drink the next aperitif somewhere else...

Nice place to end the evening with a view of the Rhine. The beer is good (I can't say anything about the other drinks). What was very unpleasant was that a glass bottle was turned into a glass bottle from the level above at the church and later its own fine liquid. That could have ended really badly.

Absolutely bad joke. My friend had reserved a table for us to watch the fireworks on the national holiday. Not only was the table not available on site, but none of the “cubes” set up by the organizer were available. We were still charged (18chf) and given a glow stick and a marble to redeem for a drink. The entire interaction was extremely unfriendly and lasted far too long. The subsequent waiting time in the lobby for the drinks (20 minutes+) didn't make Hugo's terribly bad situation any better. All in all, it seemed like a greedy cash grab and shows that companies that cannot estimate their capacity should forego large-scale tram advertising. Absolutely not worth recommending...

We saw the advertisement on public transport that you could reserve tables in the Fähribödeli for the fireworks on July 31st and did so via email. We arrived at around 9:50 p.m., stood in line and were then informed that there was no table reserved for us, but that we had been assigned to the wall. It is understood that it was already full of people. The email clearly stated that a table was still available. We ended up queuing until 10:35 p.m. to get our drink (which was included in the ticket) and then left again. Considering that we paid CHF 18 for the ticket, i.e. the drink, this was also a disappointment. In our opinion, the bar had taken over a bit and it was quite a mess. Because of this experience we will not visit the Fähribödeli again.

Disastrous organization, unfriendly staff

Beautiful place. Full of tranquility and calmness. It has Beautiful views on the river and different parts of the city. Easily accessible from different sides. Plenty of sitting spaces outside. Surrounded with green spaces ans trees. Staff member was very helpful and approachable and offered some beer samples. Great experience that is highly recommended.

i have been in this place for a couple of times for drinks, the location is great, close to the river, not to warm for the summer in Basel. The prices a bit more expensive than usual, but you can find artisanal beer from a small brewery, etc. I never tried the food

The syrup tastes like nothing, you pay 6.50 for a bit of pureed raspberries with tap water. There are no soft drinks or water.

The Fähribödeli under the Palatinate has managed to provide this place with wonderful seating, but nothing more! The range of drinks is underground and the prices are based on those of luxury restaurants! The so-called “beer mix” for CHF 6.50 didn’t convince me. I recommend everyone have their own picnic Bring your own and sit on one of the surrounding park benches to enjoy the view!

Disappointing range of drinks and tasteless syrups - Overpriced experience on the Rhine I was here recently to have a drink and enjoy the wonderful view. Unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed by the quality of the drinks on offer and especially the syrups. First of all, I have to emphasize that the prices for the drinks are completely exorbitant. It's unfortunate that you have to pay such a high price just to have a drink in such a beautiful location on the Rhine. However, what was even worse is the disgusting taste of the syrups. I tried different varieties but none of them pleased my taste buds. The syrup tasted artificial and had an unpleasant aftertaste that completely spoiled my enjoyment. It's really unfortunate that a place with such a great view is not able to offer quality drinks. I would have expected the operators to place more emphasis on the satisfaction of their customers and ensure that the beverage offering meets expectations. All in all my visit to this place was a big disappointment. I don't recommend it if you're looking for a refreshing drink that will please your taste buds.

Great atmosphere for a cocktail. Nothing fancy or formal. Recommend the d’Kunigunde cocktail. Food looked good. Seats are first come, first serve. Plenty of space to sit.

Very nice vibe right on the banks of the Rhine. Drinks are available to bring yourself at the bar. You can sit on the stone wall and look directly at the Rhine or sit at small tables under the trees.

The food was mediocre, the beer was lukewarm and the service was generally unfriendly. I won't go there anymore

A syrup kitchen has nothing to do with gastronomy! Just embarrassing! The panache is mixed with water and lemon syrup, the same with “homemade iced tea”. That's crumb tea for 8 francs!!!

Ambience at least five stars. Unfortunately, this is greatly marred by the pricing. In addition, the beer wasn't cold enough. I'm getting tired of paying more money everywhere and am looking for alternatives where restaurateurs offer a balanced price-performance ratio and retain guests through clever pricing.

This is the best place to relax along the Rhine river with your favorite drink and favorite people. It’s pricey but absolutely worth it.

Very nice and cozy location in Basel. But: A catering establishment hardly has the right to discriminate and does not have to decide which political views someone should represent and then turn away guests accordingly. Fortunately, we still live in a multi-party society where discussions, debates and decisions are made together.

Local spirits and whines, homemade softdrinks, great apero food and easy going staff, a bit on the pricey side but justified.

Nice place! Pure enjoyment for everyone! Ignore the negative reviews because of discrimination. That's not true, just a wave of hate from right-wing politicians who weren't served because there were "too many" of them and there were no tables left. Reservation is a foreign concept at the JSVP, you are simply ridiculous to pull down such a great store, even though you enjoy being there yourself!

SVP voters are once again showing their lack of critical thinking skills. If you make a reservation for 10 people, you can't expect to be served 20 people on a busy evening.

Very nicely located, great view! Unfortunately, it's completely overpriced for the fact that you have to get the drinks yourself, and guests aren't served because of their political views: of course that's not possible at all!

An intolerant little town of Basel. Here you are rejected in a group because of your political opinion. We were out after a meeting to end the day... completely apolitical. SAD!

I cannot recommend this store because our group was not served because we belong to a political position that the manager did not like. This is not only extremely unfriendly, but also undemocratic!

We had a reservation for a group of 10 people. When they asked which organization we belong to (a political one), they said "we don't serve people like that, you can leave." Pure discrimination, I will never leave again!

Cozy place with a beautiful view of the Rhine and Kleinbasel. One star deducted because I think it's too expensive even for Basel to pay 9.50 for 5dl of beer.

Worst coffee ever. And utopian prices. I'm more than disappointed. I asked for a little sugar to sweeten the coffee and got an ugly syrup mixed into the coffee.

Great place for shopping and a quick meal. But be aware not the cheapest. Always a pleasure to visit. Massive variety and availability.

Excellent selection of local beers, a fine selection of various dishes for small and medium-sized appetites and a wonderful ambience. Especially when it's warm, THE place to spend a cozy time.

Great place for an aperitif in the afternoon

Ideal place for a refreshing stopover, before or after crossing with the Leu ferry, or simply for a cozy aperitif with one of the original drinks 🍸

Climate is great because it's in the shade. But the prices for beer and the like are galactic for you to have to drink it yourself.

On a hot summer night, there are certainly not many nicer places in Basel to stay than the cozy Fähribödeli, directly under the Palatinate and on the Rhine down at the ferry pier. The view is magnificent, the ambience is relaxed, eating and drinking is a pleasure. The only downer is the prices - they are steep.

Pretty place, beautifully done. It's best to take the ferry over for a special experience. I didn't like the drinks that much, but my companion did. It's a shame that people from above throw their still-lit cigarettes onto the tables.

Beautiful summer atmosphere with lots of plants, a view of the Rhine, great house-mixed drinks and a super nice team!! What more do you want! Top top top! (Ah, and if it's too hot on the Kleinbasel side, you can sit here in the cooler shade!!...and the ferry usually stays open until closing time!!)
