Great view, friendly, charging your eBike is allowed (bring your own battery). Disadvantage: a bit expensive.

The Gasthaus Oberer Gabriel is ideal for enjoying a hiking break. Fast and friendly service, delicious food and beautiful views.

Very tasty cutlet with three different homemade chutneys. Requests for changes (homemade fries instead of croquettes) were kindly accommodated. Ambience with a unique view. Gladly again!

We arrived from Australia and met with family for a hearty meal. The food was fantastic, the service super friendly. The Menet family runs everything, cooks, serves and. Makes you feel welcome and at home on top of this wonderful mountain. Well done & thank you very much for a great lunch!

Disappointing! Although fries were listed as a side dish on the menu, we were unable to order a portion of fries with the sausage salad. “The boss only makes fries for the corresponding menu.” In addition, the green salad was not fresh and crunchy, but rather light.

We, 18 women, were surprised by a thunderstorm shortly before we arrived at the inn and were rained on. The landlady spontaneously made a curry coconut soup. How wonderful was that. Thank you💞

Clean mountain restaurant 🍽 at the top Gäbris🇨🇭with a large garden terrace and cozy dining room to linger. The staff 👩🏼&🧑🏻 is very friendly and accommodating. The food we ordered was delicious 😋. What impressed me most was the freshly baked apricot cake 🥧.

The restaurant is great. The food tastes delicious and the view is amazing. I think the most important thing to mention is the friendliness of the staff. Every time we go back it feels like coming home. We'll definitely be back as soon as possible :)

The food, service and view of the Alpstein were great. The Quöllfrisch also tasted good. Easily accessible even for small children and also OK in terms of price. Well suited for family trips. Will definitely come back.

I've never been up there in Merz so early. It's fabulous here. Recently there has been a twin, Karl and Klara. And good, delicious sweets from the baker in Gäbris.

In addition to the great view, there was extremely friendly service.

The schnitzel with the potato sticks probably all came from the same deep fryer with very old oil. We all had stomach ache afterwards. It's a shame, we were all looking forward to it.

Yesterday I planned my hike with lunch in the upper Gäbris. The opening times were stated on the homepage that they are closed on Tuesday. When we got to the top, we came across a closed restaurant, inside there were people eating, and on the side there were staff taking a break. Monday and Tuesday were also written manually on the rest day board. (A menu card is missing on the homepage)

Pleasant stay, albeit with the usual Covid-19 regulations. Staff a bit overwhelmed due to sometimes impatient rush of visitors. But the general good mood with this wonderful view makes up for any strenuous hike. Come back...

The unfriendly staff I have ever encountered. The pregnant lady should no longer work at all because it seems that her hormones are already overwhelmed. We had to wait 55 minutes for a main course (without a starter or dessert) and instead of an apology, we received an answer: "I warned you - that's how it is with us!" and in a completely inappropriate tone. An inn like this should appreciate guests a little more in such difficult times! Other restaurants that offer worlds better food and lovely staff have to close due to low visitor numbers and a “Spunten” can afford to treat guests THAT way due to its unique location! You should be ashamed of yourself.

A place with a wonderful view. The food (hornli) and salad are good. The schnitzel is not that good. The staff is tense & stressed. The wait for food was 40 minutes.

Yesterday was a great day to enjoy the weather again. We know the hospitality industry firsthand and I had a lot of pity for the operators of the Gäbris. We showed ourselves patience and then continued without refreshment. What annoyed me the most were the impatient customers. Almost started a conversation. How certain would-be guests attracted annoying attention three times in the first minute of waiting. When I heard the disparaging comments about the hospitality industry, I no longer felt any relief. Unfortunately I only gave it 2 stars because there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of the process.

Typical Appenzeller excursion restaurant. If you're lucky, you'll get a spot of fresh air in the sun on the wall of the house! The panoramic view is unbeatable.

We have been hiking on the Gäbris with family/friends for years. Also on January 2nd, 2020. We arrived shortly before 11:30 a.m. and found enough free places on the wall of the house. We asked the waitress, Ms. Grunewald, about the menu. Not for the first time, by the way, she shouted at us like "Schuelergofe": there is no menu before 12 p.m. and otherwise there is only soup and cheese croissants. The same thing practically happened to the other guests. We and many other guests received our food in Unteren Gäbis within 10 minutes, friendly and of great quality. Dear hosts, if we, as paying guests, are a nuisance to you with a visit. But you're in the wrong place up there.

Price/performance is not right. The question whether only a cheese salad could be ordered instead of sausage and cheese salad was answered with no without comment🤔🤔 At least the view is nice.

If there is a longer wait if there is a lot of traffic, it is ok to be understanding. The menu delivered was a bit short, I don't think you should save on 2 spoons more rice. On top of that, the whole thing was bathed in oil, I didn't even know that rice was cooked in the deep fryer.

Everything was great except the newly installed loungers. They are not ergonomically shaped and therefore not suitable for lying down. There can be no talk of recovery.

Very long waiting time for the baptism dinner. Fitness plate works differently. Tomatoes cut thicker than the meat. Meat was tough. Generally seasoned too lightly. Far too little on the plate. God knows I'm not picky, but even the wonderful view can't hide the lack of competence in the catering industry. Otherwise very friendly.

Worth it! Great view and good, simple cuisine 👍🏼
