Very good lunch menu at absolutely reasonable prices. The enlarged terrace allows for comfortable dining with a view of the beautiful village square.

Location ideal for excursions in all directions. Food perfect - 10 stars. Rooms very quiet and clean. An old house with various unimportant defects. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Parking is free but you have to control the car to get into the spaces😎.

The quality of the food is top class, you can order any dish without hesitation and you won't be disappointed. There is currently an asparagus menu and the entrecot is highly recommended. Buttery tender and simply world class in taste. The service is quick and courteous, very friendly and personable. Recommended without restrictions

Food: I ordered a “wild garlic soup” for Fr 9.50. (Menu was with meat, 3 courses, around Fr. 16.50) The serving daughter asked me if she should bring a little less soup, because I only took one soup...!? I replied: I'd rather have a little more soup, because I'll have the soup because there's only ONE menu. And this menu is with MEAT! (3 courses: small soup, salad, pork ribs and lots of boiled potatoes) But I wanted to eat MEATLESS. I found the soup on the menu. The soup was OK. The bread lasts about 2 days, but it's just enough to bake. All in all: I would have expected a lot more from a "KRONE" in the historic GAIS!!

Beautiful village square with old Appenzell houses worth seeing! The Hotel Krone has a large selection of meals even during the week and has very good home cooking! The staff serves the guests very friendly! I would love to go there again, highly recommended!

Centrally located on the village square, a good opportunity to recharge the calories lost while hiking. Good, down-to-earth atmosphere with friendly staff. The food also tasted very good and rounded off the day perfectly. Gladly again !

wir haben einmal Kalbsläberli mit Rösti und einmal Hackbraten gegessen. Mit viel Gemüse als Beilage . Sehr gute Qualität.

Alles war sympathisch, gemütlich, sauber, einfach super. Frühstück war formidabel. Sehr feines Birchermüesli.

Einmal mehr einfach begeistert vom Gebotenen. Eine ehrliche Küche auf hohem Niveau, beste Produkte und freundlicher Service. Seit vielen Jahren sind wir Gäste und haben es schlicht noch nie bereut ! Danke und wir kommen selbstverständlich wieder!

Ausflug ins Appenzeller Land und Essen in Gais. Der Empfang nett und freundlich, das Restaurant nicht allzu gut besetzt. Der Garten war mit einigen Motorradfahrern belegt. Die Menüs mit Suppen und Tagessalat waren gut, Fleischportionen eher klein. Das Gulasch und die Kalbshaxen recht durchzogen und fettig. Die Desserts waren wiederum sehr gut und schöne Portionen, geschmacklich fein und schön präsentiert.

Das essen war sehr gut und der Service perfekt. Alles hat gepasst. Gerne empfehlen wir dieses Restaurant weiter

Leider war das in der Speisekarte wirklich gut deklarierte Essen übersalzen und dies bei allen Gerichten von uns Vieren. Sonst eine gute, gemütliche, urige Wirtschaft mit netter Bedienung und Sitzplatz vor dem Gasthaus.

Wir waren sieben und allen hat das Essen sehr gut geschmeckt !Nicht nur die Kleinen haben Spass an der Mini-Appenzellerbahn, die dem Rand entlang fährt und zuerst Farbstifte und Ausmalbögen bringt und danach das Essen für die Kinder

Die Krone hat eine wunderschöne Terrasse mitten in Gais. Hier lohnt es sich einen Zwischenstop von der Wanderung einzulegen. Essen und Dessert herrvorragend. Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Vielen Dank für die tolle Verpflegung

Wir sind schon mehrmals mit Freunden hierzu Gast gewesen und können der Küche und dem Personal unser Lob aussprechen die Speisen war vorzüglich. Auch die Zimmer sind gepflegt.

Langer Rede kurzer Sinn...wer hat beim Essen schon einmal erlebt, dass die Serviertochter, den Fuss 10cm neben einem auf die Bank stellt um sich die Schuhe zu binden? Und das mit einer Selbstverständlichkeit als ob es das normalste der Welt wäre? Da wir eingeladen waren wollten wir im Restaurant keine Szene machen...aber beim Verlassen haben wir den Vorfall gemeldet. Leider hielt sich die Einsicht der Dame in Grenzen.
