Great place to visit! I went for a coffee! Super friendly staff! Photos cannot show this atmosphere but I can assure you… you will love this place! Staff is very friendly and can tell you a little story about this place! They will be so nice and talk as well some photos of yourself!

Great designer bar. Hostile and warm service and fine cocktails. The design is amazing, even the floor has its own design. Just drinks and some aperitif, no food.

The interior design is impressive! The attention to detail and the quality of the material from which the interior was made is amazing! The lady from the staff is very nice and willing to take photos, she even knows where to position herself to capture the best shot. Beer and drinks very good. I recommend!!!

A must for H.R Giger fans. Great service and amazing decor. It's like walking into an art exhibition that turned into a pub. Make sure you try to find the H.R Giger's face and ask the staff about the history of this place.

I shouldn't expect much, I thought I would see a lot of Giger's paintings or a lot of sculptures, unfortunately the cafe is very small and the expectations were higher

Best cocktail he have ever had according to my husband, green poison. I tried a sip and I couldn’t agree more. Non-alcoholic drink “pussy cat” was absolutely refreshing. The lady was lovely and so does her daughter. So glad we made it in time before the bar close. Thank you for making us feel very welcome and also for great pictures ! Lovely experience.

What a strange place! I don't know who or why founded this bar, but in skilled hands it would look a lot better. It just seems like a village pub, with actually cool furnishings. Appropriate music would help a lot.

This is a strange experience. But not why you'd think. It's surrounded by extremely suburban environs, and because it's in a weird complex, it's hard to find. The address is 23, not 19 as Google originally reported. Inside, you'll get an authentic Geiger experience, with skeletal furniture. But the music and staff are at odds with the aesthetic. Country to pop music plays while you're having a normal drink experience. No word drinks or cocktails. Just everyday beer, wine, and alcohol. The theme falls short because of it. Also, the hours are extremely weird for a bar. It kind of feels like an art installation in a mall. Not sure why they close at 7...

Bar designed with the help of Giger - the designer of the Alien creature and ships from the Alien film franchise. Bar isn’t open late - and in the middle of a industrial estate so you have to make a special trip for it. We were there and had the place to ourself mid morning.

In and of itself a well-designed bar with the most famous designs, unfortunately only drinks service without snacks Recommendation: better to go to the Giger Museum in Gruyeres including the restaurant opposite

Very simple bar but guaranteed atmosphere.

The Giger Bar is smaller than I expected. But sitting there on the backbone of an "alien" was definitely worth the trip. Chur itself is a beautiful city, if you ignore the construction sites at the moment 😂😜. I got a sunburn in this weather 🔥🤔. The mountains around Chur are certainly an experience for many hikers and there is actually everything your heart desires for shopping.

I simply expected more. A little more lighting and adjusting the music could improve the feeling.

Good. But it doesn't even compare to the Gruyère bar. Poor service. An hour before closing, the attendant announced the end of opening hours. It was no longer even possible to have a coffee. To be desired.

Really cool bar. An absolute must for every Alien fan. Lots of attention to detail. Unfortunately a bit away from the city.

Having seen the bar connected to the museum, we stopped here too. Same appeal, but remains slightly decontextualized with different activities nearby than the bar. But otherwise everything was normal.

Unfortunately, H.R.'s charm is missing. Giger. The special decoration alone doesn't make it. A pity

Cool bar, great design! Friendly staff as well… Unfortunately its location is not quite in the centre. We walked about 30 mins there but you can take the bus as well. All in all worth the walk and we saw a lot of Chur as well!

Never been there, only a few times in Gruyere.. Hansruedi Giger was and is great.. His concept from a different star 😉 Top!!

Awesome decoration, well managed, the place looks like a giant Nostromo spaceship but nobody knows where it is, it's a hidden gem. And the opening time is terrible and the music is horrible, I always expect some darkness but instead... happy happy music

A bar that closes at 7pm on Saturdays.

Average place. There is a Giger theme here but other than that nothing special. I would rate it as 4 otherwise. But. I have to rate this place with two stars just to bring greater good to the society. They require you to sanitize hands and the staff wears masks. Which totally makes sense. However, they only accept cash! I am sorry but in the new age it is just not acceptable. The old-school business that doesn't want to transition to digital, contactless payments should evolve or go away. Buying a card reader is a very small expense - I know - I have one. If you don't do it in modern times - it bluntly outlines how socially irresponsible you are. And we as consumers have a civil responsibility to make this transition to digital happen. If not for corona - then for our own convenience.

The Giger Bar is a work of art! Everything in alien style, amazing

I expected more based on the pictures. Looks a bit cheap live (Made in China?) Strange opening hours for a "bar", until 8 p.m....🙈 The facility would probably be more effective at night. Service (boss?) very bored and unmotivated. My years of curiosity are satisfied, no further visit, a shame.

Great service from enjoyable staff, were seated promptly. Cannot go wrong with the good food here and the costs are fair. Individuals who work here are very wonderful and generally helpful especially to my sister who has food allergies. Like being here, the personnel generally cause you to feel essential and I love the menu variety. The food certainly was in fact tasty And delicious, can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu choices.

The place is worth a fleeting visit. The service is not very welcoming and dogs are not allowed (only because the service person already has one who I imagine does not socialize with other dogs.)

If you're in the area and have time, yes. Travel or plan extra, no. Why? For one thing, a bar doesn't open at twenty, it closes at twenty. Bistro would be better. Last but not least, appropriate music and bar staff would have been great, but unfortunately not appropriate either. The ambience alone is perhaps worth it for big Giger fans, but I personally missed the morbid atmosphere, characters, moments and situations. If I had to bet, I would bet that the facility will end up in the museum and the bar will close by next year at the latest. Unfortunately. How about a corresponding themed evening? Then maybe it would be worth traveling to Chur just for the bar.

The Giger Bar, which now exists in the Swiss city of Chur, was originally planned for New York City. When it became clear that the budget for the bar intended for New York would not be sufficient to design and construct the elements planned for it, Giger decided that it would be wiser to wait until the financing was possible. Luckily, Thomas Domenig came into Giger's life around the same time. In his youth, Giger attended high school with his wife. Domenig is the number one architect in Chur. He built about a third of the city. There were plans for a café in his Kalchbuhl Center that was already under construction, and Giger had clearly shown up at just the right moment. He was able to convince Domenig to change his plans and support the idea of ​​a bar. The furniture range for the Giger Bar has been significantly expanded with new designs for a chair, a table with a glass top and the bar itself. The door of the establishment is that of the Giger cabinet, which has been enlarged by a third. The oval mirrors, the wall lights and the special wardrobes were also designed by Giger and carried out with the help of Giger's main technical expert team, de Fries, Schedler, Ammann, Vaterlaus, Gruber and Brigitte von Kanel. Construction took approximately two years. The bar's official opening was on February 8, 1992, three days after Giger's birthday. Giger hopes that one day a Giger Bar can be built in New York City, his favorite of all the cities in the world. Drinks ok, photography forbidden

Big disappointment. Me and my boyfriend went there and took a 3h train way to get there for absolutely nothing. We got there at approximately 11.30am and waited for 1.5 hours for someone to open the door. There was light inside the facility and a signboard with "Welcome to the HR-Giger Bar" was put outside but nobody every got there. A group of men waited there for approx. 45 minutes as well and moreover another woman. This is inadmissible!! We left this place with nothing.

I went during the week before 3pm and was very quiet so it was awesome to visit. Too bad no food.

Cozy & friendly service. I wanted to show my sister the stylish café one morning because we happened to be nearby. She loved the alien biomech setup and my 2-year-old son got some free snacks. The owner took a photo of all of us (his initiative!). Very nice and a nice experience. Gladly again!!!

... you just have to experience it, even if you're not a Giger friend. It's definitely worth a detour to Chur. Just let this hr giger ambience work its magic on you. Is only open during the day until 8 p.m. Top service. My recommendation for a well-kept, quiet aperitif in this city. You can feel t'giger spirit... and also visit the HR Giger Museum ❣️

Great atmosphere for Alien Movie fans

a huge giger fan but this is rather tacky and jammed between a used car yard and a school of some sorts from memory. Unfriendly staff.

I like Giger and always will :) the museum and bar in Gruyeres are just as cool. The black bar is stylish and I have had what I consider to be the best latte macchiato here in the last few years. The staff is also really friendly!!!! I'm looking forward to next time!

Unfortunately not worth the visit. If you’re in Chur already maybe but don’t go there just for the bar. The atmosphere isn’t nice, there’s just radio in the background which ruins the whole atmosphere. The outdoor seating is normal, normal chairs and tables. The bar and other interior design looks nice but it just looks too cheap from close and is quite uncomfortable to sit on. Not what I expected from this visit at all.
