Glasi-Restaurant Adler in Hergiswil (NW)

The food last Thursday was very good.

Because of a traffic jam on the highway, we decided to go out for something to eat in Hergiswil. Since we didn't make a reservation, there were of course no seats left. A couple offered us two places with them, which we were of course happy to accept. A courteous boss, a good meal tells us, WE WILL BE BACK.

Highly recommended for groups or family/company meals. Working people receive competent, quick, friendly and customer-oriented service. Beautifully arranged (glass) plates and fine dishes contribute to a good mood 😁. No matter whether meat, fish or vegetarian. Compliments to the operations manager and the entire service/kitchen team! In the Adler restaurant, the guest is king. Keep it up!

Swiss gastronomy is sad. 6 p.m. and if you don't have a reservation, you'll be brusquely fobbed off with “We're full”. The restaurant was far from full. We left our money in another restaurant and Glasi doesn't see us anymore.

We ate game and cordon bleu. The greeting from the kitchen was a nice starter. The starters and menus were large portions, beautifully presented and all very excellent.

The service is unpleasant for foreigners

You will always find space both in the restaurant and in one of the 3 halls.

After an eventful afternoon, we registered for dinner at the Glasi Restaurant with a group of 14 people. We were given enough space and were able to choose our food from the extensive menu. The lined up women who accepted our food requests with a friendly laugh served our food after a pleasantly short wait. We enjoyed the stay and the food. We had to wait a bit to pay because a larger group had already started paying before us. All in all, a pleasant end to a fun dive. As a group you feel very welcome.

Today we ate for two, once Glasi Gügeli and once Veal Cordon Bleu. Unfortunately the food wasn't good and overly expensive. The Gügeli was too dry and the spaetzle was served without sauce. The cordon bleu was ok, but the side dishes, carrots and cauliflower had no taste. Very small portion and too expensive at 75chf. The service staff was really friendly, but they gave us a table next to a family with children. Very loud. Unfortunately insufficient.

We were at the Glasi-Restaurant Adler two days ago and since we weren't that hungry, we ordered pumpkin soup and it was excellently prepared. A big compliment to the chefs

Delicious food with a very fine dessert and a large selection of drinks. Service was friendly, attentive and reasonably efficient. The ambience was detracted despite the beautiful terrace, as a light flickered throughout the evening and went off and on again at times, which was very annoying. Basically it was relatively dark (even with this lamp).

I'm still in the restaurant, today they had a group. Therefore the wait until someone came to the table was almost 10 minutes. The soup also took a little longer, but it was worth the wait. The soup (tomato-pineapple) was very good. Afterwards a Gordonbleu, also very good. Dessert was also pineapple kiwi with sorbet. Yummy.

The food was quite good, unfortunately there is no option for half or smaller portions for smaller eaters, so it is always difficult for me to find something that I like to eat halfway. The service was very nice and professional, we had several waiters who served us. The ambience was okay, we didn't sit on the terrace because of wasps and because it was too hot. The wine and dessert were to die for.

The children's waiting time was shortened by being able to color the table mat. The summer salad as a starter and the crispy fish for the main course were very tasty and highly recommended. Quantity and price was good too. The terrace was very pleasant in the shade. Service was very courteous and nice. We'd love to come back!

Food very bad. Vegetables not soft. Not prepared with love. You can tell that the boss Urs and the cook Aldo are no longer there. We were here last Saturday. Won't be coming anymore! We come from Zurich. We are very very disappointed. We know the Rest.Adler from the show Mini beiz dini Beiz. And we have always been very satisfied. The change is negative for us. Crystal clear 5 ⭐️ A detour to tranquil Hergiswil in the canton of Nidwalden is worth it, not just for a jump into the beautiful Lake Lucerne or a visit to the historic Glasi. Because just a few minutes' drive from the north-south axis you will also find a culinary highlight, the Glasi-Restaurant Adler. We went to the location more or less spontaneously, at least without a reservation. A risk, especially on that day when violent thunderstorms swept through central Switzerland, which meant that the large terrace could not be used and the restaurant is no longer an insider tip. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted extremely friendly and with a warm smile from the landlady. Despite the many reservations, she took the trouble to organize a nice table for us by the window. On her recommendation, we immediately ordered a “Giselle”, an extremely refreshing aperitif made from quince and Prosecco. This was followed by a nice greeting from the kitchen, served by a cheerful and incredibly motivated waiter who, in addition to his professional competence, was not at a loss for a nice or funny saying. He enchanted us and other guests with his joy of life and his noticeable joy in his work. The menu selection in the Adler Restaurant is manageable in a positive sense, varied and well coordinated, so that everyone is sure to find something tasty. The food is served hot and on preheated plates. The portions are generous and are offered at a very pleasant price/performance ratio. Our chosen dishes were prepared perfectly. The minced meatballs are fried to perfection, the veal lambs are extremely tender. Both accompanied by wonderful, homemade sauces. Plus crunchy vegetables, just the way we like them. Excellently coordinated wine recommendation. Without seeming intrusive, the staff can always ask a quick question or simply say a nice word as they walk past. We really value such interaction and you feel valued as a guest. Due to the exceptional hospitality and the associated feel-good effect, I was tempted to have dessert despite feeling full. I definitely don't regret this final walk. Conclusion to our visit to the Glasi-Restaurant Adler: As soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted warmly and immediately feel warmly welcome. Both the boss and the employees obviously seem to love and enjoy their work - and thus pass on their joy to the guests. Varied, perfectly prepared dishes. The courses are served in a conveniently timed sequence. Impeccable price/performance ratio. Loved and experienced gastronomy in a nutshell. We will definitely be happy to leave the A2 every now and then and let ourselves be pampered at the Adler.

Service, food, price/performance very good. Shadows in the garden under the trees. It's a shame that the busy street is annoying.

Very good restaurant, with good cuisine at fair prices. Unfortunately for us it's not exactly on the way, but that's our problem :-) We still try to come by at least once a year. It's just worth it. I have to adjust my rating and the review. New 5 stars. We overlooked the disabled toilets. Thanks for the quick answer and the tip.

Found this restaurant while traveling from Italy to Interlaken, Switzerland. Great service, tasty food. The price was a bit high but I guess it goes with being just off the lake. Staff was amazing!

Very good restaurant - I can only recommend it. We had Cordon Bleu and Wiener Schnitzel, and as a starter I had the cream of asparagus soup. The Cordon Bleu was a real treat, very good in taste and the mountain cheese was beautifully melted, a real dream, and the soup was also very, very fine :-) It was just perfect. The service was very friendly and the waiter who served us was funny, we had a very nice evening and felt really comfortable here. We'd love to come back.

I enjoyed the food very much. The tagliatelle with beef and asparagus was excellent. The ravioli with spinach and ricotta filling and a sage butter from my colleague were also great. It's always worth a visit.

The food was amazing. Really hot, which you often don't expect with 40 people at the same time. I just wouldn't put a music group next to it...

Beetroot salad was definitely from the day before and didn't taste fresh. Ready-made salad dressing doesn't work at all. Vegetable wrap was not appetizing. I can't recommend it.

Seniors' meeting place in Nidwalden every 3rd Sunday of the month. Always very fine, good quality, very friendly staff. Every dish is recommended.

Really great restaurant - we had Wiener Schnitzel, Cordon Bleu and Käsespätzli and all the dishes tasted wonderful. The service ladies were very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was very nice and cozy. There was even a delicious broccoli and tomato soup as a little “greeting from the kitchen” as a starter. We are thrilled and would come back at any time! :-)

The cappuccino in the afternoon was 👌🏻 We decided to reserve a table for dinner the same evening. Super friendly host who pays attention to all his guests. Cozy atmosphere with professional service. Taken care of down to the last detail. Very pleasant that we were also served an amuse, a delicious carrot/ginger soup on the house. We stopped here to have lunch on our trip to Italy. We were fast served and they spoke English. The menu is in German. Food was plenty and good! Just watch out were you will park your car.

We ate the veal cordon bleu “Red Devil” on the terrace. It was super delicious! When I cut it, the cheese ran out - very fine. Good seasoning mix. Would love to come back.

It was my first time here and I was looking forward to it. But when we entered the restaurant, there was an indefinable smell in the air. The welcome was good, but the “greeting from the kitchen” was forgettable. The menu is also very “clear” and the prices are very high. Main course was okay but not great, like the price.

As soon as you enter (whether on the terrace or in the dining room) you are immediately warmly welcomed and shown to a free table. The entire staff is simply phenomenal and extremely attentive. And then the menu - selected dishes are offered - something for every taste. For meat lovers (e.g. Tatar, Chateaubriand) or of course for vegans.
