We had a great time with excellent food and attentive, pleasant service. If there is a downside, it is the proximity of the tables (especially two people). However, that won't stop us from going back.

As a group of 6, we tried the surprise menu and it was amazing. My fav was lentil salad, another one like lamb and others fav dish was lahmacun . Allover everybody liked the menu. Service is friendly. The music was too loud for me but some enjoys this. The open kitchen is great.

The food was tasty but the portions were relatively small. If you have a slightly larger build and need more calories than the average person, then I wouldn't recommend it. We paid a lot for little food and after eating I had to go to Migrolino to buy a sandwich because I really wasn't full. The service wasn't great either, sometimes a bit unpleasant if I'm honest. We also waited a relatively long time even though we ordered standard dishes. Wouldn't go again. Price/performance definitely not good, small and overpriced portions. BTW it doesn't have any soft drinks like cola.

The food is super tasty and the service is great! But the price for the Chicken Külbasti is absurdly high - CHF 39.50 for two chicken legs with a few herbs on top and then another CHF 2 extra for a roll for dipping in tahini, unfortunately feels biz, like kleptomania. If you also ignore the fact that the tables are so close together that it gives off a Ryanair economy class vibe, the evening was actually nice.

We spent a wonderful evening in Gül. We came with high expectations, which were exceeded. We had 2x Menu Surprise, 1x of which was vegetarian. Five different starters were served, which were a total taste explosion. It couldn't be better! Main course there were 3 different plates, great! Dessert, an absolute hit. Homemade vanilla ice cream with homemade baklava, a dream!! With every course we were asked if we would like a second helping, but the portions were more than enough and we were hungry ;-) There was a flat rate for water, 5 Fr. per person and you could drink as much water as you wanted, great. Service VERY friendly, attentive and everything went quickly. Price level is rather high, but completely okay for Zurich. We will definitely come back, despite the 1.5 hour journey. Thank you for the wonderful evening, the great hospitality and the warmth of the entire team.

High quality, well seasoned (sometimes almost too well seasoned) food for a very high price (even by Zurich standards). The lentil salad, for example, costs 16 euros and is (not an exaggeration!) only three tablespoons. You can do it, but it certainly won't be my favorite place. But the food is very tasty across the board.

The atmosphere and staff are great. I can recommend dinner. Sharp? No not at all. But: Brunch is okay. Nothing really special and has a hefty price tag. Only tea and filter coffee, no milk alternative is very sparse. Evening 4-5 stars, brunch 3. If the dishes were 10% larger, Gül would probably have 4.8 instead of 3.8 stars...

Very tasty food and excellent service. Unfortunately for us, the food was sometimes very spicy or spicy. The ambience is beautifully decorated and furnished, but with the music and the other guests it was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation at our table. I went to Restaurant Gül for the first time yesterday but was disappointed. We had made a reservation weeks ago, but when we arrived we were offered two chairs next to each other at the counter right at the entrance. And this even though there were still free tables. When I asked if they had another seat, we were seated at a normal table for two. If I hadn't asked, we would have sat at the entrance despite having a reservation. The food was extremely little, at very expensive prices. Having to pay 40 for a small bowl of chicken and the chicken comes pink is a no-go. In addition, our vegetarian dish was without salt. There aren't even salt shakers on the table to add seasoning. The best thing was the bread. You can definitely eat better in most restaurants in Zurich for these overpriced prices.

Turkish food without hospitality Our experience started off great. We were there for the first service starting around 6PM. We were highly encouraged to pick the surprise menu with a reordering option and the elderly gentleman who brought along the appetizers was a pure delight. We tremendously enjoyed the first dishes. So at first I told myself that 3.8 on google was a bit harsh for such nice people and a great atmosphere. Things then started going south culinary and service-wise. First, among the main course dishes they served us, we could only eat 1 out of 3, the only one being the kebab. The two other dishes, the endives and the potatoes, were overly salty (and I like me a salty dish) making them inedible and we did not want to force ourselves to eat these two for the price we were about to pay. So we asked to reorder some of our favorite dishes and at this point, let me tell you, they were not happy. We wanted to reorder one or two dishes at once but they made us order all at once as they wanted to kick us out as soon as possible for the second service, which was frustrating not only due to the price but also the delay, in-between the appetizers and the main course, being their own fault. To tell you how grotesque it was, they snatched my friend’s plate while he still had some food in his hands! Who does that?! When the dessert time came, we chugged the supposed baklava for which they didn’t even give us a knife so it was a massacre at this point with our tablespoons . We rushed to eat it and even before clearing, they brought the bill as you can guess. If you pride yourself as high-end, you should act so, just saying. Also, If you want people to leave fast because your ultimate goal is getting numbers on the expense of quality, you should not offer the reordering option to especially those coming at 6PM. I have been to many high-end restaurants, but this is the first time I have encountered a staff forcing clients to leave in such an obvious and an impolite way. Also, who charges 20.- for water they put themselves on the table, without asking us? But they had no problem refilling that, if you see what I mean. As they call themselves fine dining, FYI most fine dining places do not charge for water. In conclusion, the prices were as salty as some of the dishes (without alcohol) and it felt Turkish without its heartwarming hospitality.

Friendly waiters greet you warmly. We had the chef's choice menu, 2 eggs with 5 slices of sucuk, 1 orange juice, 1 çay and a bottle of water and paid 100 fr for it. I was so scared that I decided not to go back. 😅 The food was delicious but mainly consisted of butter and yoghurt 😂 (see picture) and I agree that lemon creates great flavors, but if there is already a lemon coupe then you don't need more lemon yoghurt. I don't quite understand what's so Turkish about butter or honey 🥴 As I said, the food was very tasty but very, well, boring. & the best thing at the end: the tables were so close together that you could not only completely hear what the neighbors were saying, but also felt like you belonged together. I understand that you want/need as much space as possible. But half the room was empty. I would have liked to give it a good review

The price shocked me twice: once in the card and once when paying. Nevertheless, I will go there again, the food as well as the service (friendly, funny AND competent - in Zurich!!!) were top. We had the surprise menu, which was absolutely convincing from A to Z with both meat and vegetarian options and put the price into perspective; the quantity and quality were definitely right. We were there for brunch a week ago. Summary: - Food excellent - Service was very strong at the beginning, then extremely weak - Prices / price transparency: underground (total CHF 130 for two people without alcohol or other big extras) - Atmosphere: lively, sometimes noisy, but OK => never again Here is the detailed feedback, which was also sent to the restaurant owners via email: The reception was very friendly and after your employee (with the Bernese? dialect) asked us if we had ever been there for brunch (which we said no), she explained that we could either choose everything individually à la carte, or You could take Chef's Choice for a total of CHF 62. That would be various vegetarian things and e.g. For example, egg dishes are also included, which we would otherwise have to pay separately for à la carte. After we decided on the Chef's Choice, she asked again whether we wanted to order an egg dish, which we declined at that point. There was no further communication as to whether/what was not included - only when it came to water did she explain to us that it was simply a flat rate of CHF 5 per person, but that we could drink unlimited amounts (no information was given regarding tea/cai, or the costs of repeat orders). During the meal we tried several times to order bread, cai and later another Simit - unfortunately it took us asking three times for all three items until the items arrived. Since the Cai is already in the big jug and the Simit is ready, I don't quite understand why the orders were always forgotten and when we asked the Cais we were always put off with “coming soon” (we have the Simit with us). 3 people ordered, each of whom knew nothing about the order that had already been placed). Since we still wanted egg dishes a little later, I specifically asked (again to the colleague with the Bernese dialect) which egg dishes were included in Chef's Choice. The answer was: poached egg with grilled vegetables, scrambled eggs with sucuk and fluffy eggs on bread with herb salad. So my colleague ordered the poached egg and I ordered the fluffy egg. What was surprising was the bill: Not only were the egg dishes separately on the bill (contrary to what the employee said twice), the cais and coffee as well as the bread/simit and an additionally ordered breakfast bowl were also billed separately. To be honest, I feel a bit ripped off. It would have been completely fine for me that cai and coffee were charged additionally if the corresponding information had been provided (I can live with the breakfast bowl separately, I find bread difficult because with the first order - i.e. the Chef's Choice - only for everyone There was 1 piece of bread, which is far too little). I find it an absolute mess that the egg dishes were charged separately, even though it was said at the beginning that they were included and later when I ordered my question as to which ones were included. I then mentioned it in the store and they just said that it was extra and not included. Sorry - but that doesn't work. You can't advertise something as inclusive and then charge for it. Added to this was the very forgetful service, which made it very tedious, and the bill being brought without being asked - unfortunately that has nothing to do with Turkish hospitality, you can certainly do better. The food itself was great, but unfortunately the overall experience was totally ruined.

Very good food prepared with a lot of love. Somewhat very tight seating. What bothered me the most was that the bill was brought out while we were still eating. When making the reservation it wasn't said that there were two entrances. It wasn't our fault that time was short. We had ordered the menu and no reorder. The fact that if there are 4 people = over 400.00 you are basically eliminated is a no go

The four of us were allowed to eat at Gül. Arriving at 7:00 p.m. we were able to order drinks and food at 7:40 p.m. and the surprise menu was recommended. The drinks and the first course came at 8:10 p.m.... was it at the second table behind? The ambience was authentic - rather loud and the tables were very close together. The food was really great! Then things went quickly and two of the three courses were delivered quickly. In addition, the not completely empty plates were constantly cleared away even though we were obviously still eating. It's a shame about food waste, even though it wasn't promoted in the overall concept. The sparsely advertised re-ordering was practically impossible because the waiter almost never came to the back and as time went on and the natural feeling of satiety arose. After asking three times, dessert was served at around 10:15 p.m. Very tasty but at the end it seemed somehow hard fought for. Price performance is not right for 450.- for 4 people, even by Zurich standards. It remains to be hoped that this will also be reflected in the wages. At 10:50 p.m. we were able to pay without any apology... We then discovered that the individual items in the menu would have been around 20 euros cheaper if they had been ordered individually. Conclusion: Food definitely recommended, service could be improved greatly. Unfortunately there is no price/performance ratio.

Even after that it took a long time until the aperitif drinks came or the next course. Luckily we were there with good friends. The food is very fine. I really enjoyed the pumpkin seed pesto. But I would have expected more for the 85 CHF Surprise Menu. Even if it is Zurich, for what is delivered, including the quality, it is far too expensive. The wine prices then exceed everything again. Average wine for 70-100 CHF. For less than 100 CHF per person, you won't walk out full (and with a drink). After digging around a bit in the reviews, I have to deduct one more star because the observations apparently aren't isolated cases. I recently visited this restaurant expecting a hearty brunch but was utterly disappointed. Not only was the pricing exorbitant, feeling almost like a scam, but the service was deceptive. We ordered two brunch menus, only to receive meager portions that seemed laughable for the price. The meal predominantly consisted of various butters accompanied by a single piece of bread, meant to be shared between two, all for a staggering 90 francs. Adding to the frustration, they served us tap water without asking and then charged 5 francs per person for it. Additionally, our bill included extra charges for items we did not order. This was far from the generous, fulfilling meals typically associated with Turkish cuisine. I cannot recommend this place unless you're willing to spend a significant amount for minimal food and unexpected charges. The experience was a letdown, especially for those familiar with the usually abundant and reasonably priced offerings of Turkish eateries.

It's a shame that I have to leave such a bad review here, I feel totally ripped off. We ordered breakfast twice at 32Chf each. For 4 people or more you get the same breakfast including egg dishes for 3chf per person? That doesn't make any sense somehow. Water bottles were immediately brought to us without having ordered them and were almost intrusively placed on the table, which is listed as 5th on the menu. The bill then said 10chf for the water, so 5chf per person?... in breakfast we got 1x yoghurt with berries that you have to share? There is a bread basket with 2 types of bread, again one piece each? It's strange when you order breakfast twice. Ordered the black tea twice, without discretion. My husband was given 1 refill and the bill was charged for 2x tea à discretion (which costs more than twice as much. Afterwards I noticed that we weren't served the pumpkin at all? I really had an unpleasant experience here at brunch and am Totally perplexed. Please be more transparent about the prices. The opposite of the otherwise wonderful Turkish hospitality.

Delicious food, nice ambience and friendly staff. The downer: You pay a pretty high price for the menu plus wine and still have to hurry because you have to make room for the next guests. Unfortunately, that's not very hospitable.

We took the recommendation for brunch and were also recommended an egg dish and/or a pide. This was very helpful so that we knew how much to order. We then received the recommendation of olives, fried peppers, mushrooms, bread, pumpkin in sesame sauce, cherries, honey and fine butter, as well as pide and an egg dish with vegetables. Everything was very delicious. In addition, the service was very friendly and attentive.

Very nice restaurant with great food! We took the vegetarian “surprise menu”. We were served various dishes in small portions to share. We were surprised at the large selection and how delicious it was! “Extra requests” are implemented without any problems (e.g. menu with meat but without lamb, lactose intolerance, etc.). The service was great! We felt comfortable from the start. The staff was very attentive and explained the contents of each dish to us. The price was on the high end, but absolutely reasonable for what you get. We'll definitely be back! Thank you for the wonderful evening.

Mix a Turkish culinary experience with the Swiss penchant for merging culinary styles in a compact and refined serving style, the restaurant vibes coolness and chic, staff friendly and effortlessly effective, welcoming customers with aplomb and panache, maintaining the atmosphere without the aloofness so common today. Food effortlessly good, drinks clear and fun but chosen sparsely and wisely. The bread was amazing...

This was our first time at Gül and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The service was attentive and very friendly - in a natural way. The ambience with the open kitchen and cool "urban oriental" music is very lively. The food (we had the tasting menu) including natural wine was incredibly good. Wonderfully balanced, with intense but also gentle flavors, different textures and always a huge portion of freshness. These were real taste explosions in the mouth. Even better than I imagined. It was worth every cent. We will definitely come back.

The portions and prices were really exorbitant. It almost seems absurd. Such prices can probably only be charged in Zurich, where the guests go along with everything. 40 francs for a small chicken dish? And 10 francs for a tiny lahmacun? No matter the quality, there comes a point where you just feel taken advantage of. This is absolutely not worth it. The lentil salad topped everything for 16.50 (picture in the middle). What's that supposed to mean? Do you want to play the guests for fools? Incomprehensible. I'm speechless.

When the name raises high expectations and the brunch doesn't fulfill all but a lot of it. We were guests for brunch in the morning for two. We were recommended to take the Chef's Choice, where all kinds of dishes are served at once (see picture), we also took Menemen (egg dish). We couldn't find out the difference between the Chef Choice and the normal brunch a la discretion, we assumed or understood this to mean that there were more dishes to choose from, but when we read it we didn't notice any difference, even the price was identical. that our additional bread was charged for the Chef's Choice (2 flatbreads for 2 people with all sorts of spreads is simply not enough) and I assume other things were also requested (other than a la discretion), but we found that strange and a shame didn't go into it again. The brunch menu only included vegetarian components. The majority of the dishes were otherwise very tasty and had a certain twist, the products seemed to be of higher quality, the shape of the butter was nice to look at (see picture) and the pickled pumpkin was very tasty, but others were too simple for us. The menemen tasted a little too bland and was a little too watery due to the addition of tomatoes. In our opinion, the scrambled eggs with sucuk we ordered were too simple and too expensive for the small portion. We expected that the 12 CHF would include scrambled eggs with at least 3 eggs, fried sucuk sausage and stuffed egg. Instead we were served a simple scrambled egg with the sausage on top rather than finding it directly in the scrambled egg (see picture). The ambience was very pleasant and cozy, but can be a bit cramped and noisy for some as they place the tables a bit too close together in my opinion. The service was very nice and attentive and explained everything very objectively. The owner's father had distributed tea that morning, which I really appreciated and created a family atmosphere, especially the open kitchen. The kitchen team increasingly consisted of women. It's nice to see that such support is being given to young female talent.

Gül is a hidden gem in Zurich that serves up some of the most authentic and delicious Turkish cuisine in the city. Nestled within a charming courtyard, the restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere that is both cozy and refined. The décor is tasteful and understated, allowing the focus to remain on the exquisite culinary creations that emerge from the kitchen. From the moment you step through the doors, you are greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality by the attentive staff. Their knowledge of the menu is impeccable, and they are always happy to offer recommendations based on your preferences. The menu features a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes, all prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail. The ingredients are sourced from local farmers and producers, ensuring that the dishes are not only flavorful but also sustainable. In addition to the dishes I mentioned in my previous review, I would also highly recommend the İskender kebap (thinly sliced döner meat served on pide bread with tomato sauce and yogurt), the Lahmacun (Turkish pizza), and the yaprak sarma (stuffed grape leaves). The wine list features a selection of both Turkish and international wines, all of which are carefully chosen to complement the flavors of the food. For dessert, be sure to try the künefe (a warm cheese pastry soaked in syrup) or the sütlaç (rice pudding). Overall, Gül is a truly exceptional restaurant that offers an unforgettable dining experience. The food is exquisite, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly authentic Turkish dining experience.

We had a very nice evening at Gül. The restaurant is located in a cute courtyard and is very stylishly decorated. Since the tables are relatively close to each other and the space was used very carefully, it was also very loud and communication was sometimes a little difficult. The service was very friendly, attentive and courteous, but in our case some dishes were forgotten or served incorrectly. The food was consistently excellent and prepared and served with a lot of love. The portions are rather small and the prices are on the upper limit. However, the quality of the products can certainly justify this to some extent. We can highly recommend Gül to any lover of Turkish/Oriental cuisine. This country cuisine is “unfortunately” rarely found in this ambience and this high quality.

We were here for brunch exactly a year ago and we liked the food so much that we came here again for brunch. The quality of Chefs Choice has deteriorated extremely. The portions are getting smaller and the plates are getting bigger. It's almost impossible for two people to serve everything on this small round table. Although it's a discretion, reordering simit or bread takes quite a long time. But Sucuklu Yumurta was extremely disappointed. Even a small child would eat this extremely small portion alone and charging 12.50 for it is very daring. (Looks very poor in the video) Please Gül team try harder and get your old quality back, if everything is right, we'll be happy to pay too more for a brunch.

The food was good, the portions were rather small. The service is friendly, but the quick processing was not very hospitable. We consumed over 140 francs per person. Shortly after 8 p.m. we received the bill without asking, saying that the table was only reserved for 2 hours. That's true, but there were no guests waiting for the second shift and there were already several free tables. The noise level inside is rather high.

I ate at Gül last year and was totally thrilled, but unfortunately not this year. Prices have risen and food has become less. The surprise menu for 3 people compared to 2 people differs only slightly in the portion sizes. When it comes to "pieces" on the plate, there are 3 pieces on it, but everything else is the same size (plate, contents) as the menu for 2 people - which is a disgrace to me, since you pay 80 for a menu. - paid. Not cool.. I'm really quite disappointed and think it's a shame because the food is really really good.

Amazing food and very nice service. One of the best brunch I had in Zurich. For the price of the brunch, I fell like extra breads should be offered (specially as we only got two for 2 people and that almost everything is to be eaten with bread). Vegetarian friendly! Radiant place; tables are slightly too small to be so close to each others.

Reservations not possible because “everyone is in service”. Went there on Sunday at 9:05 p.m., the place was half full at best. It closes at 10 p.m. I didn't get anything to eat even though I was alone. Been there several times. Bought the book, tried the recipe. If everyone is overworked, I can understand that. Then just take a break. I found it really weak. Where is the hospitality?

The food was excellent, but the amount on the plate was too small...for the price...we thought the Surprise Menu would be too much, so we decided against it. But when I saw the plates, a la carte menu, I was disappointed. In the end, we should have chosen the surprise menu... the selection was also very difficult because there were no pictures on the menu... and if you don't know the specialties, what comes is a surprise either way . Then the time pressure, I felt stressed, as did our friends... and the hectic pace... was tiring... on a Saturday evening, you want to eat in peace and discuss... in peace... and not constantly being up have to look at the clock. There should be different surprise menus, price-wise... the aperitif was loveless... decoration... the eye drinks... well it was worth an experience...

Unfortunately, the Gül is completely overrated. My wife and I embarked on the culinary journey. The taste was delicious, but after the round of appetizers, we waited almost 40 minutes for the next round. A piece of meat is served for 2. I had to order 2 ml more. and then we barely had time to finish eating before we were put under pressure that they had to close the terrace.. it's a shame, I was hoping for a lot more. It was a good experience, but my path will not lead to Gül again, far too expensive in my opinion for the price/performance ratio...
