Haku in Winterthur

Absolute failure. Food has nothing to do with being Japanese. Service was very unfriendly, it was cleared away while I was still eating.

One of the worst ramen i had in a long while, ok maybe spoiled by real stuff, but this there is no efforts done Noodles total soggy,pieces of fried pork, terrible egg, was just a boiled egg nothing more, veggies just some sprouts and a real watery tasteless soup 29 chf.. and kick clients out at 2.04 pm😀😀

We had dinner with the entire family at Haku. Everyone was thrilled, even the discerning ones… We enjoyed a high-class meal. The service was prompt, attentive and discreet. It was easy to have a conversation and the noise level was okay. Price/performance fits!

Very good food! The eye eats in Japanese cuisine and they were able to fully implement this. The service was very courteous despite a complex order. She showed a lot of patience with us and was also friendly. Only after the main course did we have to wait a bit long. But there were also a lot of people.

Japanese Culinary Masterpiece, each dish of Haku is a work of art, meticulously crafted to perfection. I wholeheartedly recommend Haku to japanese food enthuasists, we will go again..

Food was great. But I had to wait over an hour for my starter (small salad) and it wasn't very busy.

We are always happy to use the delivery service and have never been disappointed. The sushi that was delivered promptly today tasted ok, but was much smaller than usual and rather carelessly prepared (almost no sesame and disproportionately little rice). We weren't full. We hope this was a one-time blip and not the new standard.

A very great atmosphere, also pleasant service. However, the food was not commensurate with the price. The curry had 3 large pieces of chicken separately on a plate, a rather bland curry to distribute yourself and separately in a bowl noodles that were completely unseasoned. Since I was in Japan recently, I had different expectations. I didn't imagine Röstitaler as a side dish in a Japanese restaurant.

Fantastic food with an enthusiastic waitress named Stefan, something you rarely find in Switzerland and especially in Winterthur. Thank you for this wonderful meal!

You don't have to wait long for your food, the atmosphere is quite pleasant and the staff is nice. But the kaarage was half cooked, the prawn tempura was tasteless and the food was overpriced for what was on the plate. Wouldn't go, there are better shops in Winti.

In a cozy atmosphere we were given a culinary tour of Japan with a surprise menu. We were spoiled with many fine delicacies of excellent quality. We were served attentively and friendly. We left the land of milk and honey completely happy.

The portions at Haku are very good and the staff is extremely friendly. I was also impressed by the restaurant's formidable design and the successful ambience. The price-performance ratio was also good. A small improvement would be the addition of pictures in the menu for each dish. Overall, my experience at Haku was extremely positive and I can only highly recommend the restaurant.

It was very delicious! The vegetable tempura was freshly fried and had a thin batter that was crispy. The sushi toppings themselves are similar to those found overseas, but the quality of the rice and toppings is on a level that sets it apart from the norm in Switzerland. I went back the other day and it was still delicious. Thank you for the meal. It was so tasty, Tempura consists of carefully chosen vegetables such as Renkon or Eggplant (traditional) or moderns like Okras or Spargel. Sushi is also beyond the expectations.

As always, big cinema, wonderful ambience with great acoustics and a quiet atmosphere. The food was fabulous as always. Steffen, who served us, was very polite and friendly. If Japanese, then HAKU is always our first address. Quite expensive but voilà, the quality is right. Keep it up.

Ramen Takeaway: You can't eat the ramen on site at lunchtime, but takeaway is possible. CHF 30 for a really small ramen is too much. In Zurich there are Japanese restaurants that offer the same thing, have more ingredients (egg etc.) and charge less. Unfortunately it was the last time I was with Haku.

We were in the restaurant on Saturday evening, 6:00 p.m. Reserved of course. The place wasn't full and the waiters often stood around behind the bar. The service was neither attentive nor quick. The furnishings also disappointed us a little; we had imagined it to be more Japanese. We received the main course at 8 p.m. So we had to wait for 2 hours. Two other tables that were there before us also waited so long and had to ask if their food was coming soon. Unfortunately, the food wasn't particularly good either (tofu was bland). The prices are too expensive for Winterthur and are not justified. The Mineral 77cl cost CHF 9.50. We don't go there anymore.

One of the best Asian cuisines I've eaten at. We eat there every month. Very nice atmosphere and very good service. I can only recommend.

The food was simply AWESOME, the service was friendly and the place was cozy. 2/25/2023 // Negative: we had to wait over an hour between the starter and the main course, the restaurant wasn't overly full... we were there at 8 p.m. and the main course was served to us around 9:45 p.m. Definitely too long!!!!

I went to Haku for the second time with 3 friends. Everything was perfect again. Very friendly and professional staff, timing between courses was perfect and the dishes were very fresh and extremely well prepared. We'll definitely be happy to come back.

Food and service leave a lot to be desired. For starters we ordered the Wagyu and tuna tartare. In total there was exactly ONE slice of toast bread. When we asked for more toast, we were rudely told that ONE more slice would cost €2 extra. The taste of the starters was okay, although there was room for improvement. For the main course we chose the Sakura Sushi and Ramen. The sushi was very tasty and attractively prepared, but the ramen was a complete disappointment. The ramen egg was a simple hard breakfast egg, the chashu (rolled pork belly) was more reminiscent of poorly fried bacon, the broth was tasteless and the presentation left something to be desired. The service has nothing to do with the Japanese service culture. He was neither courteous nor friendly. New cutlery was only reluctantly served between courses and a new drink did not automatically mean a new glass. The staff generally lacked a smile on their faces. After our experiences with the starter and the main course, we no longer wanted to continue our evening at Haku.

The food was OK, nothing more. We ordered rice with salmon and another fish and it came without any vegetables, which surprised us negatively. We paid 73 francs for the two dishes and 2x water... I don't think we'll be back.

The food was good but not exceptional. Or maybe I'm spoilt. Service was professional but a bit melancholic. I missed smiles. It's a good restaurant and we'll be be back.

Finally there is sukiyaki in Winterthur! A dream becomes true! Quiet environment with an upscale and atmospheric ambience. Traditional Japanese menu with tempura, udon, various donburi dishes and of course sushi. Very attentive service. I enjoyed a very good sake with my meal. I will definitely come here more often!

Excellent Japanese restaurant in Winterthur!

Unfortunately I can't comment on the food, although we would have loved to eat there. Nevertheless, I would like to share a few impressions. According to the information on Google, the restaurant should be open from 5:00 p.m. When we arrived at 4:55 p.m. and sat down at the table, a serving lady quickly came to us and rudely pointed out that the restaurant was only open from 5:30 p.m. She didn't pay much attention to the fact that the opening times were communicated incorrectly on Google. A snippy “then you should have looked at the website” was the only answer we got. As always, the sound makes the music. Unfortunately we didn't feel welcome at all, which is why we decided not to come back at all.

We had a lovely family event at haku and the service and food were great! We pretty much went through the card. it was delicious from the appetizer like shake aburi carpaccio to dessert! highly recommended.

Good soups or broths and noodles.

My favorite restaurant in Winterthur! The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and is stylishly furnished. The food has always impressed me, the tofu and the tempura are highly recommended! I always enjoy coming to Haku!

The best Japanese restaurant with top chef Tatsunori Ogawa and an excellent and warm-professional team. We were able to enjoy a creative and tasty menu on the occasion of my husband's birthday. Every course was an absolute highlight not only in terms of presentation but also in terms of taste. Our guests were completely thrilled. A top class kitchen!!!

Fine, freshly prepared sushi 🍣 and sashimi. You can drink the Asahi Super Dry beer, which, according to a Japanese friend, is very “smooth”.

We chose this restaurant for our dinner based on a recommendation. The staff is very customer oriented. I noticed this when I ordered a soup that I and my partner didn't like at all (my mistake). However, the staff tried very hard to correct MY mistake! Despite my wrong order, the sushi was very good! We'd love to come back for sushi.

It is a real pleasure to eat at Haku. We had a great evening and are already looking forward to our next visit. Very tasty and beautifully presented food and also inexpensive - and that means literally, everything is worth the price. The sushis are a culinary delight and the tempuras are world class (top fresh vegetables in a crispy and perfectly golden coating). Added to this is the very friendly and attentive service - without seeming intrusive; just like I was able to experience back then in Tokyo. We'll be back soon and with great pleasure.

Anyone who visits the Haku restaurant may still know the history of the restaurant. Many years ago the Gabriel restaurant was found here. That was a story in itself. Just reading the menu was a poem in itself and the cuisine was well known in Winterthur. Before Haku was the Italian Rosso. Now let's get to the point. Basically we were largely satisfied with our first visit, but why only 3 stars? - Proud prices for Winterthur, the performance of some dishes is not right - Dessert tasted boring, mochi were a disaster (definitely not homemade), fruits were also very bland Ramen serves minced beef, so a small upgrade is highly recommended. From the look of it, there is also a lack of topping selection (can also be for an additional charge, why not?) Classic national dishes like mochi simply have to be homemade in a restaurant or produced locally by hand by a well-known professional. Otherwise there are plenty of alternatives. The selection is manageably small; varied menus are offered at lunchtime and depending on the season. If you want to stay in Winterthur, here is a good alternative for ramen, bento and sushi. Especially when it comes to sushi, I would rather start here than at Negishi, Yoojis or Smiling Fish (new Fuji?). All three candidates mentioned have noticeably weakened in recent years, regardless of corona. Before the visit, we spontaneously ordered sushi for delivery just to get a sample. The quality was impeccable and convincing, but unfortunately the payment methods were not. In this day and age, asking for sensitive credit card details over the phone because you want to save money on a mobile terminal is sobering. If you want to make money, you should also invest. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff is attentive and friendly. We didn't have to wait to order or receive the bill. With the parking spaces it could be a bit funny at peak times. There is a parking garage nearby and other blue parking spaces along the street (Geiselweid swimming pool and Migros EKZ). Even though Zurich is undeniably expensive, I personally tend to continue to seek out the culinary appeal there. However, I will continue to keep an eye on Haku. If there are significant improvements, I will definitely become a regular there.

The only proper Japanese restaurant in Winterthur. Business lunches are good if you manage to be here from 11 to 14. The meat was very nice, salmon was good, tuna was obviously unfrozen/refrozen but maybe that's what goes into business lunches. Pleasant atmosphere, not like fast-sushi places but like a proper restaurant. I guess we return for a dinner sometime.
