House of Wheat and Bread in Echallens

I really liked the food, the savory dishes were good, the desserts were good. The friendly and welcoming staff, the environment with a feeling of intimacy.

Anything but nice with children, the rest I don't know This means that the staff looks at us askance because children at 3 years old don't necessarily sit still. It would have been nice to offer pencils instead of inappropriate thoughts.

It was okay but I won't come back for brunch. 33CHF for orange juice and industrial jams, 1 croissant 1 bread au choc, cold meats and cheese cut to the nearest gram. Nothing for our 2 year old child, and we never had dessert. The service was very good though, which saved everything. THANKS.

Personally, I loved it, certainly the decor seems a little dated but that has its charm too. The brunch is generous and the pastries are very good! I recommend for Sunday brunches but don't forget to book, it's better!

At 10 a.m., no more bread that interests me

25 minutes of waiting without coming to the table and serving waiting customers. Me and several clients in the same situation. We are gone. Damage. Let's hope next time goes better.

Magnificent from service to product quality

Eros Fasciolo's bread is delicious, especially its Cadet bread.

We visited the wheat and bread museum with the little children aged 4 to 9. Interesting visit but for little ones too fast. In my opinion it takes at least 8 years to understand. The restaurant we did not visit.

The bakery is really nice with authentic products. The wheat and bread museum is really well done and the explanations are interesting. The part with the Vaudois costumes is very interesting.

The products offered are truly excellent and the choice interesting. On the other hand, there is better room service. This is the 3rd time I've waited more than 10 minutes for my order to be taken. This time I left, pointing out that I hadn't been served (which didn't shock anyone). However, I am not a person to stand out. I will come back to buy their products, but having a coffee is definitely out.

Very very good I would say and the services are just perfect

After 2 hours and 20 mins hikes from my village, I absolutely needed some coffee and some calories to fuel my hikes back home, stumble upon this beautiful and historical place, luckily it was open. I had a cup of coffee and a piece of their delicious cake. I hike back home with a happy belly😉

Nice tea room and friendly staff.

We had 3 takeaway brunches. (28chf/pers). How can I put it... we were really disappointed. We therefore paid 84chf for industrial products such as the Roco jam, which was not good and 25 cents per mini tray (lol), the honey in a small tray, let's not talk about it, the dairy products and cold meats were certainly not kept in good condition. fresh because the cold cuts were oozing and the cheese that was supposed to be hard was soft. In terms of quantity, you don't have to be very hungry because the quantities of cheese and cold meats were really minimal. (The 2 pieces of tomme there, are they really for 3 people?!) And not to mention the non-presentation of the plates, it was just placed on a cardboard plate. positive point: the bread and the cream cake were good.

We are well received there and especially in good weather on the terrace. Take a little patience with the service in case of heavy traffic. I recommend it to anyone visiting Echallens

Good quality bread, my favourite bakery

Excellent product quality. A welcome by a very pleasant and polite gentleman. On the other hand, very poor service and when paying, a very unfriendly and borderline unpleasant person when there were only 5 people in the room... I certainly won't go back there to have a coffee but just buy a good piece of bread or a pastry.

Poor merchants are the owners of the House of Wheat and Bread. Not agreeing to honor the vouchers having expired following two years of Covid, I find it scandalous to collect the money without any consideration for the people with a voucher which could not be used for the reasons that many of us know well: covid 19. Although the vouchers have an expiry date, I consider this to be authorized theft. Fortunately, I see that not everyone has experienced this Covid 19 period and all the consequences it can have on the family in the same way when someone is seriously affected by their health. If that were the case, they probably would have thought differently. The House of Wheat and Bread is simply over for us. A big thank you to the other merchants of Echallens, their direct neighbor for example, who welcomed us with open arms with overdue vouchers.

I organized a surprise brunch for my husband's 40th birthday there. Everything was perfect. The room was great, the brunch too. The waitresses were really nice. 100% recommended.

Wow!!! what a welcome. We tried the brunch and braid workshop formula on occasion. of a birthday. Young and old alike were delighted. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed ourselves. And all the staff were really attentive. We all came home with our braid and leftover cream pies. Congratulations to the whole team for this very pleasant moment.

Very good products, of which the Goumöens cut is the best, for me.

Every time I go there the service is a bit worse. Today they hit an all time low. 10 minutes wait to be seated; for no reason as there were free tables and nobody in front of me. I asked to be seated next to the bakery so that my 3 years old could watch the staff making bread but the lady refused claiming the table was reserved; yet when I left 1 hour later the table was still unoccupied. After another 10 minutes wait finally someone came to take my order. While I was ordering the waitress answered the phone (so rude) and just left, without taking the order. Finally I was able to order a brunch with another waitress. The brunch includes two warm beverages so I asked for a cappuccino and a glass of warm milk. For some weird reason I had to pay for the milk separately. When I asked why they told me it was because my son drank it and not me.

Good bread, you can watch it being baked. And the museum is also very interesting.

Birthday brunch. The products are good but the service is below everything. In principle everything is brought together on the table at the same time and you can eat in the order you want. In practice we first had the croissants and pains aux chocolats. A long time later, upon asking, the refrigerated hard-boiled eggs and yogurts arrived. By insisting we got a little more: jams, butter and bread. But we had to get up and ask for the cold meats and cheeses which arrived a good while later when we had already eaten the pain aux chocolats, refrigerated eggs and yogurt to satisfy our hunger. Finally, on Sunday the museum (in the same premises) is not accessible, it can be visited through the tourist office, following some squabble. It reminded me of a visit to East Berlin during the Wall era, except the produce was fresh in Echallens. NOTE to the answer. We specified that it was for a birthday when booking, but that's not a reason anyway. We all entered at the same time and were all seated at the table from the first order (drinks) and remained at the table throughout the meal.

Quality products, plentiful, I just blame the fact that no one explains to us how it works for brunch because if we hadn't asked for more bread we wouldn't be aware that we could eat more of what was originally served . Otherwise for me it has to be done again.

The bread is very good, although the table service is not very efficient, it's the 2nd time we sat down, we didn't wait very long to be served, today it was the bouquet, we didn't order 2 coffee ☕ and the waitress never came with it, other people arrived, they ordered inside 2 minutes after they were served, none of the waitresses came to us! They were 3 served today and after 15 minutes we didn't get tired of waiting.
