My first Japanese restaurant is very popular and you should make a reservation. A great experience for those who want to really experience Japanese. It's still quite cheap, tip if you're really hungry, menu a discretion then you can try almost everything. If you also want to try out a wine, you can choose a sake from different varieties.

My favorite restaurant of all time. Every dish tastes special, different and very delicate. I have never been disappointed and every visit is a culinary experience. And in addition, the staff is quick, wonderful and friendly!

It's been the third time I've been here and every time I'm impressed. In addition to the already familiar dishes, there is always something new to discover. The service is attentive and always very friendly and organized. Won't be the last time I come here.

Very cozy place, very friendly service and the food is wonderful. I ordered the vegan options on the menu and was surprised, especially with the Horenso no goma and Nasu Dengaku dishes, definitely worth ordering, DIVINE flavor. The chocolate Mocha was incredible too, it was a good choice in Lucerne and I left wanting to do it again!!

Excellent, casual Japanese cuisine, much more than just sushi and sashimi. Be sure to try the bentos for lunch or fried chicken in the evening! Very friendly service.

I went there in July and it was fantastic! I keep thinking about it even now! If I didn't live in Geneva I'd be coming all the time. The food was tasty, the beers were good and the staff was so nice. We really had a good time and keep a great memory of Lucern thanks to this restaurant.

Food - Wow....! The portions seemed small but it was my 1st experiencing any restaurant in Lucerne... so, may be the portions are small usually everywhere. Service was good. The waiting staff and the customers alike were unable to read the menus/orders due to poor lighting. Yet, the place had a bohemian vibe. The waiting staff recommend tobtry dishes and they were really good....Loved it. Recommend for those who wishes forgot asian taste to try this place.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant for the first time in the evening. Conclusion: Very good food (lots of new things for me to discover!), top service, very uncomplicated. Price/performance is absolutely justified given the high quality food. A safe tip!

I always enjoy visiting the Izakaya Nozomi restaurant. Excellent and authentic Japanese cuisine is served there. The ingredients used are of outstanding quality and also impress with their freshness. The service team is extremely friendly and always has a good tip for a suitable sake to accompany your meal.

Honestly, this is one of the best restaurants in Lucerne. It is comfortable, cozy, serves delicious food and just blows my mind every time I am here. Now be fairly warned, it is expensive (you can easily drop 70-80 CHF per person here) but it is absolutely worth it! Also, you will definitely need a reservation if you want to sit down during lunchtime and evenings. All in all, I love this place, and I'm already thinking about when I'll be here next.

Would like to give 4.5 stars, but unfortunately that is not possible. 5 stars would mean that absolutely everything was perfect. The service was very attentive, patient and friendly. One feels immediately welcome. The food was exquisite and varied. The Butaniku no Grillyaki was unfortunately rather dry and tough. Everything else was very good. One of the drinks we ordered was unfortunately not served and we had to ask a second time. Also absolutely ok and not bad, but therefore, and because of the Butaniku no Grillyaki there are 4 stars :)

The room is not very appealing but very central in Lucerne. The food however is absolutely splendid! Fresh ingredients, well prepared dishes. Very nice and friendly staff! Thank you! Prices; moderate (swiss). We were 4, payed about 330 chf.

Unfortunately, my experience at this very attractive izakaya was severely marred by the unfriendly, disrespectful, annoyed and condescending manner of the obviously German male waitress. “Beyond your national borders, service is more than just bringing food and drinks to the tables and then collecting the money.” It's more about an overall experience in which the guest wants to feel welcome, valued and comfortable. And this is actually independent of the social and regional origins of the employees. It would be desirable if the great Japanese restaurant or those responsible could familiarize this employee a little with Japanese and Swiss customs, especially when it comes to politeness. 🙏🏻

Each course we had was good, and I would recommend any fried dish as the batter is very light. Fast service. Nice and quiet outside. Great experience overall.

There's no other option but to give it 5 stars. Yes there are certain things that aren't 5 star - like for example the wine choice. There's not a single bottle on the list that would complement the great food that is served. But nevertheless, the food is something that is otherwise hard to find on Swiss scene, the attitude is casual and food served in generous amounts, with lots of people being served at the same time. It is partially located in the old 80's disco club which also contributes to the experience. The prices are not low, but for what you get it's more than worth it. I wish there were more places like this.

The staff was nice and service minded. The atmosphere was not that much for me. Big room with a high ceiling. Like they wanted to expand their business and use the dancefloor when it started to get full in the original room.

I ate there several times already, and i would do it again, just because my taste buds crave some variety. The service tough.. they are stressed, sometimes everything comes at once, and then theres nothing for half an hour. Waiting. They should have more staff, so everyone can relax a bit more. The dishes are quite good, i would say 70% of them are really tasty. If you are looking for a japanese experience and youve never been to an izakaya, japan or elswehere, this will be a nice spot To explore. You'll be disappointed if you had authentic japanese.

I have a mixed feeling on this place. The waitress was so warm and friendly to get me a table without a reservation on a Saturday evening. It was my birthday and I wanted ramen. Unfortunately they do not do ramen on weekends. The shrimp tempura, egg plant, spinach, simmered tuna were all nice. However, the saba (mackerel) was stale and a big disappointment. When I informed the staff on this, I find they do not take it seriously and as courtesy, told me that they would inform the chef. I would appreciate some sincerity in at least taking some better concrete responsibility in serving something that was not fresh nor great.

I've just woken up from my food coma, which came over me after the rich "Izakaya experience" (despite an extensive digestive walk through the night-time old town of Lucerne - highly recommended) at home in the warm room. I dreamed of the extremely deliciously exquisite dishes that were served to us. We perceived the menu selection and the ambience at Izakaya Nozomi as authentic and down-to-earth. And while we moistened our tongues with fine sake from the extensive sake menu, the host friendly and politely recommended this fine evening menu to us. We enjoyed the stay, the competent and loving service and were delighted to see that, given the lively rush of new guests, we had luckily reserved a table that evening, otherwise we would not have been able to take this journey of flavors through Japanese cuisine. We'd love to come back.

We have heard great things about this place and were happy to get a chance to try it today - and this place delivered! It’s a tapas style Japanese restaurants where you get to sample different small dishes from a wide variety. Everything we ordered was delicious, particularly the seasonal dishes like the brazed pork belly, sweet potatoe mochi with spicy sesame sauce and the pickled beetroots!

We were looking for a sushi restaurant and accidentally ended up here (that's what Google Maps said). There's no sushi, but luckily we stayed anyway. We had a delicious bento box and very friendly service. Top!

Be sure to try the tasting menu. The chef is happy to adapt any changes (without scampi). We will be back.

Located in the same hotel as Hotel Barabas, we came here for lunch while waiting for our check-in. The lunch menu consisted only of 3 bento choices, while the food for dinner menu was definitely more varied. The food was great though, tasted authentic like Japanese food and they have a good selection of drinks too, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Would have been a 5-star if their lunch menu had similar food choices to their dinner menu, but it is what it is. The service was also great.

Arrived 9pm. At 9:15pm waiter tells us the kitchen is closed! ( official hours till 9:30pm). Yet we see food being served around us continously and at 9:40pm I confront the waiter who arrogantly tells us that he told us the kitchen was closed and that everyone else had ordered before closure. I explained that the kitchen that we had arrived at 9pm before closure. Reply... that I am a guest in the restaurant not a client and they decided that the kitchen was closed when we arrived. They continued to serve food till at least 10:05pm when we left. At which I advised I would include our terrible experience. His answer...I don't care we have many great reviews and don't need you! HORRIBLE SERVICE. Be warned!

Probably one of the very few authentic Japanese restaurants in Lucerne. Their karaage is to die for! Also, one of their dragon sake is my all time fave. Cap everything off with some matcha ice cream! Staff have always been friendly and efficient!

The perfect place to spend a cozy evening with good friends. The Izakaya experience was sensational. The best way to get to know the diversity of cuisine. Not only did the dishes all taste excellent, the presentation and quantity were also very good. In addition, there was a very pleasant and helpful service, so that we were able to be pampered in just over 3 hours. We were all thrilled, will be happy to come back at any time and can highly recommend Izakaya Nozomi. Simply great!

This was one of my favorite places to eat in Luzern, I found their food delicious in the past. However their service is a hit or miss. Today I went with my partner, the restaurant was not even at half capacity at 7pm and we were send away by a waitress because we only wanted to order some tea and perhaps a small snack. Literally she told us, "this is a restaurant, if you want just tea you can come back later at night when everyone already had dinner". What a pity that the staff can make this an unpleasant place.

Expected the food to not be that great but we were really impressed! The place was really packed but the food came out really quickly and we really enjoyed the meal. Price was decent as well considering where we were.

Top Japanese food, top service.

It's the first time I've eaten in a Japanese restaurant, I ate some things, which were good, but others weren't, because I didn't like it, for example, raw fish, I didn't eat it. The experience was good, but my friend said that she has eaten much better in other restaurants, she was a little disappointed. You have to try it, other things, I recommend visiting

Fun Japanese menu. Attention only cooked dishes. No sushi. Ok for vegans and lactose intolerants. Good choice of sake.

A must for everyone! I have been to Nozomi several times and highly recommend it. No matter whether it's the bento box for lunch or several dishes from the menu (comparable to tapas). There is something for everyone and a true taste experience.
