Kobal in Zürich

Very friendly staff, Great food

We ate there on Friday evening March 22nd, 2024. My wife Vegi and I have thosai with lamb. Some of the food was not even lukewarm, and we had severe stomach problems (diarrhea) for two days afterwards.

Small cosy place with great food. Large servings and super friendly service. Great place to have a late dinner after a gym session or a relaxing lunch to calm down from the stressful city life ;) Bonus, for „environment-friendlier“ take away boxes.

We live around the corner and Kobal is one of our top option for a feel-good meal! There surely is a lot of food competition around Langsstrasse/Helevtiaplatz but Kobal never disappoints! We always make sure to order their Vegi Masala Thosai or their vegetarian Kottu Rotti. On top, their portions are very generous! They only take cash - that has never been a problem since there is an ATM accross the street. Highly recommended!!

A surprisingly good and cozy neighborhood dining spot. Very good culinary experience of Indian cuisine, while being affordable at the same time! Unfortunately I hadn't found this place sooner, definitely will come back to taste more dishes and drinks.

got 2 samosas and 1 salad. the smaosas were soggy and not crispy. they mixed 6 different types of salads in 1 big bowl. if you like that, great. but I didn't. the waiter was nice tho.

The food was very good and quite genuine. The Masala Dosa is done with beans instead of potatoes which is apparently a British Indian sort of thing. The one odd thing was the service. I went there with my wife, who is Indian herself. In every other Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi/Shri Lankan restaurant, we've ever been to, she has struck up a conversation with the staff in Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, etc. and had a lovely time. Here, the guy was stone faced and just super off putting. The food all came on time and it tasted good, but the demeanor of the person behind the counter was a very discordant note. Now to caveat, this was a Sunday and it is Zurich, so I can understand being miffed about working that particular shift.

Tastiest and most authentic Indian Food in Zürich

Small Indian cafe with an interesting menu. I noticed quite a few items that are typically uncommon in regular Indian restaurants. They have done a great job in designing the cafe to have the feel of sitting in a lounge. The food is definitely affordable here when compared to other restaurants

The deer curry (24.-) was excellent (the deer was a bit firm)! I ordered spicy and it came spicy, but not super spicy. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very salty. We were able to pay by card (because that was mentioned in a previous review). The place is rather small and it quickly became quite loud. The advance reservation seemed worth it. Order (and pay) directly at the counter.

I like this location. The Indian food is delicious. The portions are huge and are enough for two meals (just have the left overs packed). Only cash payment accepted. You can usually find a parking space all around.

I have tried vegetable starter, vegetable biryani and masale dose in this restaurant. The starter was so tastey witha sauce they have provided. Vegetable biryani is seeved with many different types of vegetables and dal curry. It was so tastey and It was so healthy food. So 2nd day also I have visited the same restaurant and had dose. Dose was so fresh and served with tastey vegitable curry. One meal is enough to make your entire day. Good quantity is available. The people in the restaurant are very kind and humble. As i was a tourist they also guide me in planning my trip. Thankyou next time if I go to Switzerland I will visit this restaurant for sure.

Best Indian of Zurich. My favorite restaurant in Zurich, probably. The dishes are just excellent Try the Vegi Paneer. Or the roti! I love it! And the mango lassi is good as well! And they prepare the food very quickly. Warm owners. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I go there at least once per week. It's also quite inexpensive.

Ich gehe regelmässig ins Kobal weil es so nett und gut ist. Die Karte ist zwar seit jeher die selbe, aber eben gut. Besonders das Thosai oder das Masala. Nur die Samosas könnten etwas sorgfältiger gewärmt werden (in der Mikrowelle werden sie etwas pampig - ich würde sie eher in der Pfanne wärmen). Die Teller sind sehr reichhaltig, die Gemüse super fein und die Schärfe kann gewählt werden, wobei mittelscharf für Zürcher ist, nicht für Inder. Das Ambiente ist wunderbar weil völlig unprätentiös! Und es läuft immer ein Bollywood! Die Preise sind unschlagbar.Ich kanns nur empfehlen.
