Kokoro in Zürich

Food was good avarage. Prices are definitely Zurich like but imo too pricy for the whole place. We sat inside (bc outside was fully booked) and it smelled soooo bad like cold stale smoke :/ It was better when they opened the window, but only bc it was warm outside… Staff was friendly and fun.

We tried a selection of sushi, maki and Californian roles. The rice tasted amazing and the most original combinations were great. I will definitely come back.

Very nice restaurant with amazing food. I love their karaage, sushi mix and teriyaki chicken. We had a great time and the staff was nice. A very quaint and charming eating room, but there were a lot of people there.

Unfortunately the food wasn't very authentic, all the sushi had already been prepared with wasabi in advance. All the wasabi stole the flavor from the sushi. The prices were rather high for the small portions But service was nice.

The food was good, but the portions were very small and they do not warn you from the start that you have to buy multiple dishes.

Uncomplicated restaurant with an outdoor seating that is very simple. In Zurich it feels quite authentic and refreshing. Nice and accommodating service. Unfortunately perhaps this evening the kitchen was overwhelmed because the food came out quite slow. Oysters were amazing.

It is my new favorite restaurant in zurich. .. the food is amazing, we always let the chef choose for us and we have never been disappointed. Jenny's big smile makes the experience even more enjoyable .. and the price is fair!

The food was good but the portions were small and rather expensive, 26 chf for a tapas sized portion. Overall I think the value for money is not good enough to return to this restaurant.

One of the best service experiences in Zurich so far! The lady offered us to prepare a wooden plate with the best sushi they offer, so we would not have to look at the menu. And the sushi was very fresh and tasty, good choice for all of us. Make sure to order the spicy edamame as a starter, not spicy but marinated with a super delicious sauce! She offered us her personal favorite cake, yuzu cheesecake, and it did not disappoint. Thank you for making us special, and going out of your way to make this dinner a real experience :) Fun fact: They play funny Japanese music which added to a casual environment. We will definitely come back!

Very tasty, friendly service. Unfortunately, it felt like we had to raise our chairs quite early and use cleaning products, which didn't add much to the comfort.

Eveything was good from the service to the food. Especially the workers!! Everyone was so lovely and attentive. Although I felt like the price for the portion was a bit high.

Truly excellent experience, with delicious, very good quality, authentic dishes; it really feels like a Japanese izakaya (we lived in Japan for a while). Top service, and our 2 year old child was delighted by the owner and didn't want to leave. A real treat from start to finish, we're just waiting to return to Zurich to relive this experience.

So tasty! We were excited about the food, but definitely not expecting it to be this good. Will definitely come back! 🤤 If I can suggest something, it would be to make your orders more aligned with the weather. The salmon teriyaki was perfect for the cold rainy day, but the other dish was too summer vibes - even though it was very delicious. Just to add to the experience ;)

Can only recommend the restaurant. Beautiful outdoor area, friendly staff and delicious food. I tried a sake here for the first time, it was special but delicious. Have a clear menu with a diverse offering.

Went here with a friend of mine because we were both craving Japanese kitchen. After having spent some time in Japan, I am always on the look out for some authentic Japanese food. Which we definitely found here! The Fried chicken was the perfect mix of a crunchy outside and delicate core. The sauce to it was even better! If the weather allows it, I recommend sitting outside. The staff was very forthcoming and helpful. We asked about a certain meal and they instantly showed us pictures of it on their phone and listed us all the ingredients by heart. All in all a very nice and enjoyable evening.

The best Japanese restaurant in Zurich when it comes to casual Japanese food. The ambience and service are debatable. But after six months in Japan, I think I can judge it. Great, crispy and not “pasted” tempura. The Maguro Tataki was particularly impressive in its combination with jellied dashi and avocado. Sashimi good, tuna could have been better quality wise. Salmon top. Simply great!

Very cozy. I was here with friends who all like to eat fish. For people like me who like chicken more, there is a wonderful chicken salad, highly recommended.

Spontaneously decided to go eat dinner at Kokoro with a good friend, first time there. The fried chicken was to die for - so crunchy and juicy- definetely one of the best I have ever eaten. For the main course I got the salmon poké, which I enjoyed a great deal because of how fresh the salmon tasted! All in all, a very nice experience, will go again.

I really like the food at Kokoro, the atmosphere is cozy and the service is always very nice and cheerful. One of my favorite restaurants in Zurich! :)

Excellent Japanese cuisine with extremely tasty house creations and a wide range of drinks in this small, very cozy restaurant! I always enjoy coming here to eat and would sometimes be happy if guests didn't act so stuffy and petty.

Small hidden restaurant near Langstrasse. The food is freshly prepared. Anyone sitting at the bar can watch the preparation live. My number 1 when it comes to Suhsi in Zurich. Price/performance top! Highly recommended.

Good Japanese place with very friendly and good service. My favorite spicy Edamame in town. The sushi is good but not outstanding. They have extended the restaurant with a “winter garden” which is cozy and warm also in winter.

I recently dined at this Japanese restaurant and was thoroughly impressed by their food. The pork belly was simply divine - it was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. While the duck was also good, it didn't quite match up to the high standard set by the pork belly. The restaurant itself had a great ambiance, with a traditional Japanese decor that added to the overall experience. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and made sure that our meal went smoothly.

For me one of the best restaurants in Zurich. The ambience is right! Authentically Japanese - from the environment to the service and the menu. Very nice service and good communication. In a small space, all guests were served quickly and the food looked delicious on every table. The bento was excellent and I was more than full! The rest was packed very well for me to take with me and they gave me tips for warming it up! All in all a good experience - and not for the first time. I like to come back again and again!

I am usually very happy with Kokoro. This time the agedashi tofu was cold and not very tasty with a very small quantity of sauce. The miso soup was also lukewarm. Sushi’s were excellent. A bit disappointing but I will go back because of my past experience.

Good solid Japanese, nothing really outstanding. The restaurant itself is quite small, but there is an outside area for extra seating which is for summer but may be too cold in winter.

Walked all the way there only to find out it was closed. Update your opening hours!

They do NOT serve ramens in the evening. From 16 Dec to ~16 Jan they're closed.

Reviews are overrated. Food is just soso, portions are tiny. It disappointed me each time after I went there a few times for a hope that the food would be better because of these high scored reviews. A table spoon ice-cream scoop is half size smaller than a standard scoop. However, actually some Japanese restaurants in town are far better than that one with similar prices... Services are good, staff are friendly.

It’s good but portions are small. 6 dishes for 4 were not enough food. The pork shabu shabu is 5-6 thin slices of meat around a big salad. It’s very tasty, but basically nothing. An asian fondue (shabu shabu) usually emphasises the quantity, so idk if the name is fitting well here. Great staff though. I wish there was at least more rice in the poke bowl, and maybe sauce on the side. I felt like the ratio of sauce to rice was not correct (too much sauce).

Quite bad. We went there for my birthday dinner, as I heard great reviews of the place. Sadly, it was a pure disappointment: only fried food all over (hard to call yourself an izakaya if the only options that are not sushi are all deep fried - and we took 4 dishes), not even well fried (super oily and heavy). All dishes ended up tasting the same because there was the same sauce (couldn't identify, maybe takoyaki sauce? a bit sweet) on all dishes (and again, they were all fried, so they all tasted like oil - couldn't tell the difference between the aubergine and the soft shell crab). We took also 2 uramaki, and they thought it was a good idea to put fried onion on top of that too. What to say: I was so disappointed that I didn't let my partner offer me the dinner as a bday dinner and preferred to pay my half, which was btw around 95CHF for 2 starters, 1 uramaki and 2 beers each. Outrageous considering the food. The personnel was super nice and the atmosphere as well, but the food unfortunately far from being remotely decent and remotely authentic Japanese food. Sad.

We order kanicream, lachs in heisser pfanne, sushi and sashimi ALL very good and well done!

Sushi creations like I have never seen or eaten in Zurich. Everything is very authentic and above all very, very fine! Tiger Rolls forever! Definitely worth the money.

The food was generally very good and the portions were very reasonable. However, I found it a bit of a shame that the Yakiniku Don (the beef was excellent) had far too much sauce for my taste, it became very salty towards the end - it became like a salty rice porridge at the end...

I have rarely eaten such fine sushi! Location cozy and pleasant and the service courteous and very, very friendly. We'd love to come back, even if the prices are rather high, it's worth it!

Good ramen restaurant in Berlin. It seems to be very popular as we waited in line for a long time to be invited in. Maybe that's why we had quite high expectations. The starter was very tasty (picture 2) The ramen was fine, but not outstanding (pictures 1 + 4). The meat in the ramen + appetizer was delicious. The price was okay, but not exactly cheap. It is very warmly decorated. The service behind the counter seemed relaxed and friendly.

used to be a big fan and regular guest, But I haven't been there for about 4.5 years now. A lot has changed, it seems to be bigger or to serve more guests. Unfortunately it has lost some of its Japanese charm for me. food was good. Too sushi-heavy for me personally now, I always visited this place because of exactly the other specialties/menus. Not bad ramen, but not the best I've tried. I would say it's the most expensive Ramen I've eaten.

Great food and Japanese cocktails

In my opinion, the chef's precision can be felt in the dishes and speaks for good Japanese cuisine. However, the next day you can feel the artificial flavor enhancer effects on your body very subtly, like after eating at a Chinese restaurant. Plus the Japanese waitress, perhaps also the owner, wanted to give us the worst indoor seating despite an early reservation and the emptiness of the interior (bistro feeling with small tables without tablecloths, etc.). So in my opinion the very high price is not justified.

Most authentic Japanese restaurant in Zurich. Anything from Chicken teriyaki (so soft!) and ramen or sushi. Skip the other ramen shops in Zurich - this is the real deal.

Great experience! Had the salmon teriyaki as a main dish with their cheese cake as dessert and avocado maki to the side. Definitely worth the prize and will go there again when I get the chance to. The waiters were kind and polite not rushing and with a calm demeanor and always there to help.

What a great experience! Every single dish was delicious, we especially liked the salmon teriyaki. The staff was very friendly. And the cherry on top: since it was my boyfriends birthday they surprised him (and me) with a very nice arty birthday dessert. Very thoughtful! We will be back for sure :)

Nice place, pleasant service, actually japanese, great food. The only disappointment was the dish with unagi (you could hardly find or taste the unagi).

Amazing restaurant and service.

The food is very tasty and diverse. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offered us very good recommendations and also got us a recipe when we asked about it. It was more expensive than we were led to believe, but we also got complimentary beverages for sitting outside. Overall it's an easy recommendation if you enjoy japanese food!

The food was really great, very friendly service, and extremely relaxing atmosphere. I was very impressed by the fact that even though the kitchen is partly open (sushi preparation bench is visible from the tables) the ambience was very relaxed for the guests even when there was a lot of activity. Loved it, will go again :)

I just love Kokoro. I specially like going there at lunchtime weekdays for the bento box. I really miss the Japanese food from back home and they really help me with that, feeding me with my kind of comfort food! The side portions (of the box) are always different and super well done. There was never a time I went there that the food was not delicious.

We had a wonderful time there. The food was fantastic and they organized the most amazing birthday dinner for my boyfriend and I. I highly recommend this place and we will surely be coming back soon!

We were served very friendly and the birthday child received a delicious and beautifully presented dessert that the three of us were able to share. The covered terrace makes it possible to visit the restaurant even in bad weather and is cozy. The food itself is very good, authentically Japanese and the portions are generous. The lunch bento box offers the opportunity to try various Japanese delicacies.

The waiter's attitude is okay. He will always come to check the status of the meal, and will take away any empty plates, which puts invisible pressure on people. Chicken teriyaki: The chicken itself is dry, but the vegetables are delicious Sashimi mix: The color of the tuna is grayish red, the shrimp is not sweet, and the rest is okay. The portion is small but the price is 38CHF. I don’t recommend it. Chicken Karaage: The outer batter smells like oil consumption, the meat is tender and juicy, and well seasoned. Recommended Shake Hoso maki: The vinegar rice is a little strange because it is warm, but it tastes good. Recommended Apart from sashimi, other meals are ok
