Kräuterhotel Edelweiss in Weggis

I selected this hotel to celebrate my husband's birthday, convinced by Monika P. via email and phone that it would be a fantastic experience. However, the moment we arrived, it became evident that we were in for a disappointing stay. The hotel was in desperate need of renovation, displaying signs of aging and emitting musty odors. Our reception by Pietra was unwelcoming and cold; she did not provide directions to our rooms. Throughout our time there, we felt as though we were intruding on a community and were not genuinely welcome. When I requested a different table for dinner, as the one assigned was positioned by the entrance, Pietra's response was dismissive and lacking in customer care. She seemed distant and disinterested. Faced with this dreary and unsettling atmosphere, we decided to depart. Pietra, in a brisk manner, instructed me to settle everything (680 CHF), tapping her hand on the table. To expedite our departure, I found myself settling the bill for the dismal room, the uneaten dinner to be served near the corridor, and the uneaten breakfasts. My advice: run away!

I always enjoy coming to the Herb Hotel. I appreciate the clear line, the respect for nature and food. I was just a guest at the Herb Workshop for the first time and attended the non-alcoholic drinks course. You can't miss this. Now things are bubbling (fermenting) regularly in my kitchen and I'm enjoying my newfound knowledge. Suitable for end consumers as well as people who want to use it in their own restaurant business. Definitely recommended. I wish you many more participants.

When you check-in, the condescending person at the reception does not deign to indicate where the room is. The staff area is a mess and everyone has a blank stare. Generally, they play hippies but behave like arrogant, judging, non-customer friendly people. E g. we asked for a table change for a special occasion and the answer was a hard no without even trying to be nice. We left and they had us pay the full dinner and the room (700chf) albeit us not consuming anything. It's a horrible place with a very weird atmosphere. The answers from the owners on the negative comments are really telling about their mindset. Go ahead and be disrespectful to me, this won't change the fact that you should not be in the service industry.

We made good contacts at the round table. The hosts (the whole team) are very friendly and you can tell everywhere how much heart and passion there is behind it. We are completely in love and inspired. Thank you for everything!

We once again had an excellent meal there. The ragout was tender and the polenta was simply outstanding amidst the fireworks of vegetables and flowers. The lentil salad, pumpkin soup and the burger with colorful fries also received great praise. This restaurant is a must for all Rigi lovers and gourmet lovers.

Even friends who received a voucher for food and overnight stays for their 70th noticed when making the reservation that if you mentioned the voucher, interest immediately disappeared because the money was already in the bag. I just say sad and wish you all the best.

Interesting wine list limited to Switzerland with some finds at very decent prices. The small shop offers homemade herbal products that are worth buying. This hotel is on high mountain and was probaly a former Farmer house. We can not expect luxus ambient here. The view on lakes is unbeatable. The staff took well care of us, their behavior was flawless. The michelin restaurant is not even expensive, considering the 13 exquisit dishes they presented. It was a valuable and special experience we made here.

Man muss strikt trennen zwischen dem Restaurant und dem Hotel. Das Restaurant ist Wow! Das Essen ein Erlebnis. Jedes Gericht in sich absolut stimmig, überraschend, überzeugend. Die Weinbegleitung hingegen finde ich solala...die hat durchaus Luft nach oben. Das Hotel (mind. das Zimmer, in dem wir waren) ist hingegen unterirdisch. In den 80er steckengeblieben, was Interieur und Ausstattung betrifft. Grauenhafte Farben und in krassem Kontrast zu der exquisiten Qualität der Küche. Das passt irgendwie nicht zusammen. Ausserdem stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis im Hotel für mich auch nicht. Schade! Essen komme ich sehr gerne wieder, aber eine Übernachtung wird es nicht mehr geben...

Gastronomie auf höchstem Niveau. Es lohnt sich..

Wir haben in der ersten Januarwoche ein paar herrliche Tage, begleitet von feinsten mehrgängigen Abendessen, im Kräuterhotel Edelweiss verbracht. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wie auch schon andere Gäste bewertet haben, ist das Hotel an fantastischer Lage etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber davon darf man sich nicht täuschen lassen. Es ist sauber und gemütlich. Und was die kreative Küchencrew zu zaubern vermag ist einfach Weltklasse! Sehr sympatisch auch, nur mit Schweizer Produkten zu arbeiten, die nose to tail-Philosophie und zu guter letzt diese Kräutervielfalt. Ein grosses Bravo und Dankeschön an das gesamte Edelweiss-Team. Wir kommen wieder!

Einen kulinarischen Höhenflug genossen im Kräuterhotel. Gekocht hat Simon Sommer aus Bern. Die Bedienung war sehr professionell und freundlich. Die Weinkarte mit ausschliesslich Schweizer Weinen bietet einige Neuigkeiten und unentdecktes. Eine wahre Freude! Die Lokalität authentisch eingerichtet mit Liebe zum Detail. Wir kommen sicher wieder. Erreichbarkeit mit ÖV i.o.

Sweet lord, baby Jesus. After wandering around in the cold, freezing rain, we came across this place. I was skeptical at first, so I went with the terroir burger expecting the typical meatloaf sandwich you get in many places. After one bite, I wanted to sing a glorious hymn. Damn good burger. And it packs a punch - I was barely able to finish it. Not only do I recommend this place, I will be back - and hike for longer just so I can fit in the dessert too.
