La Perle du Lac in Genève

Extremely slow service to get a coke and a beer. We sat for 30 minutes, were not served and finally left. No apology from the staff who rather felt we were at fault!

A 3dl coke for 6.- and a bottle of still water for 8.- (which we gave up), is making fun of the world!

I have passed by the pearl of the lake several times over 10 years. and I will be there again this weekend!

Very nice establishment by the lake, Small park next to the establishment poorly indicated, because a sign prohibits passage, but very nice to go there on foot. Nice card, good product Magnificent setting.

This was a really nice place to have a glass of wine during a sunny autumn afternoon. A beautiful scenery and happy people wandering around the part and restaurant. A good place to have a peaceful moment after a work trip. Unfortunately, I did not have need to try the food. Maybe next time when I happen to cross the Geneva in my trips.

One of the most stunning view of Geneva for a drink or meal by the lake, facing the famous jet d’eau

Contrary to some reviews, we were served very friendly and correctly. We ate fish, which was tasty. The local wine was delicious. Pinot grape, aged in oak barrels. All in all, rather higher price level. Cozy place.

I find the customer service responses absolutely unacceptable and dismissive or even haughty towards unhappy customers, often rightly so. This is why I will never set foot there.

We are used to having family meals by varying the locations, but unfortunately, this restaurant was our biggest disappointment. The only positive side is their exceptional terrace. For the rest, I only want to forget this bad culinary experience as well as the very average service.

Ugh...at 10:30 it's impossible to sit on the tables facing the lake...you have to go to the tables at the back towards the wall...reason 9 you prepare the tables for lunch...

The location is beautiful, with a view of the lake and the mountains. Difficult to have a better location especially on a warm summer evening. The menu is interesting and the food is good but not inline the place itself. A place to come to for the location and atmosphere.

Geneva prices but relatively “normal” given the location and the view from the terrace. Simple and good cuisine with a lot of local products, top service and top evening dessert platter.

We assumed it was a tourist place due to the location, but were very pleasantly surprised at the caliber of service and quality of food. The restaurant was great, and I would go back.

My rating does not concern the meal part, but the outdoor snack. So any tea, often in not clean cups. Ridiculous dessert menu and bad-tasting ice cream. In a pinch they could have served Movenpick ice cream… And also chairs often full of bird droppings…

Absolutely avoid, terrible service! 2 p.m. on a Sunday for coffee, they explain to me that I have to eat: I suggest ordering desserts, I am told that I have to have a dish.... while half the tables are empty.... incomprehensible and rude waiters: such a beautiful view is not worth the detour when the staff is so unpleasant

Too bad because the place is wonderful but then certain personal and welcome do not go together. Staff will have to be trained. We're not supposed to eat for free.

With a dish of the day that is always careful and often delicious, for only 25.-! Tourist in Geneva? One of the most beautiful places! Geneva city dweller? To test is to adopt it.

A Geneva institution which might be a bit past its hey day. It’s still cozy and the old world feel will especially appeal to older patrons. It’s an especially pleasant spot in the summer as it’s right on the lake. We were a small group of 10 in a private dining room which provided privacy. The room was spacious, and the wine, canapés, dinner menu were all excellent. Service was friendly but there were some missteps. They had forgotten about the vegetarian who got her food after rest of party started eating their fish. Then, they didn’t take the orders for teas and coffees properly, which led us having to go in search of wait staff to rectify. A pity otherwise it was a fine dinner with high quality food.

Coffee CHF 6.- ok, that's normal in Geneva, plus with a magnificent view. However, the behavior of the waiter is unacceptable, it seems that he was not happy because we were the last customers before closing (yet we had left the earliest among the customers already there). In addition, we heard that they are talking badly about the customers on the next table because they thought that the customers would stay to eat but they finally leave, so, there you go, again, he turns his face again, it seems like he is angry with customers all day long. We need to change jobs dear sir. There are small stairs in front of the exit, he saw us going out with a stroller but no one moved to give us a hand, hello Mr. Gallant. Brief! Love the old-fashioned atmosphere here. The fare is traditional but the food is cooked to perfection. The dessert trolley options were lovely too.

Incredibly rude waiter ignored us for a while, then told me "no, we don't do that, madame" when I ordered a hot chocolate to take away. This would not have been a problem if the menu, which sat on the counter right next to him, didn't offer drinks to take away. I would like to know why we were treated so rudely. Was it because I spoke broken French? The restaurant was empty, by the way, so you can't say you were overworked.

Were in Geneva for a few days at the beginning of August. After a walk we decided to stop at the restaurant la Perle du Lac. Since we had to wait a bit for our service, we decided to just have a coffee. When the waiter came to the table with the hot drinks, a coffee accidentally slipped out of his hand and spilled it all over my body. Basically no problem, that can happen. But it wasn't just that I was badly scalded on my hand and couldn't get the stains out of my shirt and shoes. I find the fact that the staff didn't ask me about my well-being and still charged me for all drinks (two coffees and a mineral) to be anything but recommendable for a restaurant. The taste of the coffee was mediocre. Thanks for the hot experience and a broken shirt and stained shoes.

Although the restaurant is well located and the menu is tempting, poor knowledge of food allergies and their consequences! Gluten intolerance is not a fad and people need to be taken seriously! Do not bring gluten-free bread in a basket used for classic bread, that's the basis! Knowing that soy sauce contains it is the basis! Claiming that the dishes are gluten-free before going to see the kitchen is a serious mistake! Anyway, I'm sick today! I don't thank you!

The setting is obviously very pleasant, but on the terrace it seems that the staff has a mainly decorative function... long wait while the waitresses chat, then order taken incorrectly... an upgrade of the service would be welcome... Excessive prices in view of this .

Short break on the restaurant terrace, we asked for three hot chocolates and a coffee...very disappointing! The chocolate had no taste, and it was very white, barely chocolate, and the coffee tasted like water...all this for the modest sum of 20 CHF...to be avoided

what a shame , I have known this place for over 30 years. I went there this morning. I met the manager who is extraordinarily arrogant and a liar who tells me that he has been there for 10 years as the pearl of the lake. have never opened at 9 a.m. even though it is stipulated on the internet and from 10 a.m. he is willing to welcome customers for meals, and not for coffee, cakes, fruit juice or breakfast!!!!! what a shame, in addition to being arrogant and a liar, we can add ignorance and ill-adjusted... I recommend that you don't really go there

The only positive point is the place which is absolutely magnificent. On the other hand, on the service side, cleaning the table and saying hello is apparently not the role of the waiters (be careful not to have your order stolen by the surrounding birds). In view of the prices charged and the quality of the service, I strongly advise against this establishment.

This is one if the best places in Geneva when it comes to position. Great view of Geneva from this side. We enjoyed a hot drink on a cool day...there is a restaurant here as well but we were not dining that day. I really enjoyed the service as well, very friendly and they spoke my native language too, Albanian!

Disappointing service without any kindness or attention, unpleasant experience. We, who thought we would stay to eat there for lunch, left and we will not return. I do not recommend at all!

Overpriced restaurant for frozen food, without the slightest taste. When we mentioned that our dishes were still frozen, the owner of the establishment did not deign to come see us to apologize. Absolutely avoid, much better alternatives exist in Geneva, where you will be treated respectfully.

We were at la perla today. Contrary to some of the negative reports, we can only speak very positively. The food and service including the view were perfect for us. Wonderful!

We just wanted something to drink - only those guests who also wanted something to eat experienced service. After asking several times whether we could order something, no one felt responsible. The waiters preferred to talk privately. When we got up, everyone just looked stupid.

Went for Sunday lunch. Don't expect haute gastronomie there, the food is passable at best, the view iss quite good though. Waiters are overworked, got my order wrong (ordered veal, they gave me an overcooked beef). For the price they are charging, the service should be better.

Mais quel honte pour notre ville... overrated just because of the location... a green salad with 3 asparagus and 3 tiny slice of truite: 32 chf...and everything is old fashion in the bad way please, you must make money.. so make it worth the visit also for genevois.. we are not in the 20th anymore.. be creative and worth it !!!!

We had an ice cream sundae on the terrace of this restaurant a few days ago and here are my impressions: The ice cream was not good quality, the cream was industrially canned and the fruit salad was also canned. I think that a restaurant of this level cannot afford this as it gives a bad impression!

A more than disappointing experience, although the place has one of the most beautiful views of the lake, the quality of the food and the service is more than deplorable. Slow service, endless waiting between dishes or even to get the menus. Concerning the food, a steak sold for 38 euros (which can be acceptable in certain restaurants) is the size of a child's flip-flop and the thickness does not exceed 1cm. The accompaniments (Gnochis) are apparently produced in large quantities since they are present in all the dishes offered. Not to mention the sauce in which they are dipped, which for my taste is a little too similar to that of the canteen... It’s a shame that the quality doesn’t live up to the setting, which is exceptional. Have a drink there YES, have lunch there, definitely not.

Quel plaisir d'être retournée dans ce restaurant placé dans un lieu magnifique.Nous avons passé une délicieuse soirée et notre repas était savoureux, sans oublier les desserts <3L'accueil fut chaleureux et le personnel très sympa.Nous avons opté pour leurs menu (Lord Byron et Orangerie).On y retournera!

La Perle du Lac is an institution in Geneva. Nestled along the lakeside and the park, the location on the terrace has a magnificent view. The interior is also beautiful. We had a wonderful magret of duck for lunch with really nice cakes for dessert.

Very nice place on the lake but too slow with the service. I don't know if it was the waiter who was a little inattentive but that's what it seemed to me. Otherwise, a relaxing place even for a simple beer at the end of a walk

Everything is delicious and the service is good. The only thing I didn't like was that there were a lot of people and all the tables were very close to each other. It feels like you are sitting at the same table with everyone else. Despite COVID, everyone sits quietly and eats. Some, of course, try to avoid contact and maintain distance. It would be great if there was a table at least 1 meter apart, otherwise everything is great. Thanks for understanding! 😊
