Le Pain Quotidien in Zürich

The coffee was very watery and tasteless, reminiscent of the water from the drip tray. The pain de chocolat was also excessively greasy. Unfortunately not recommended for the price of just under 10.-.

was there twice in 1 week. Food and drink were good... BUT way too expensive! 3dl apple spritzer 6.30.- how does it work? The service today was friendly, the first time I didn't even say hello, she stood next to me at some point and just looked at me bored to take the order. The tables were cleaned so that all the crumbs just ended up on the chairs. It's a shame, because the space and the food are otherwise fine

a cappuccino to go for 7.30 chf?!?! Absolutely wrong, especially since the oat milk was unbeatable (as a tip: Oatly Barista!) But even then the price is disproportionate and wrong.

Service is super slow, lunch time with approximate 40 guests and 5 waiters, we had to wait 25 minutes for the soupe of the day (!) and one tartine. I do not understand it.

I have been to this place several times, it is a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The food is quality and everything is very fresh. The only thing I don't like is that there is only one women's toilet and there are tables in front and on one side of the door as well. It's quite uncomfortable. The staff is friendly.

Good environment but coffee and food is horrendous. 8.50 for a flat white probably one of the worst i’ve ever tried. Please guys pay a proper barista and not kids that you shuffle every other month. Sorry to say that but this store is a scam nowadays. Mcdonalds as a coffee place. SAD

PLEASE train your barista how to make cappuccino. What I got was like construction foam. Catastrophe, every train station now has a better cappuccino. & it's not the fault of the machine 😉 Your baked goods, the ambience, the concept, the service is TOP! That's the only way you're messing it up 😣

7.20 francs for a small cappuccino that didn't look nice, you apparently pay extra for lactose-free milk, of course that's not possible! What people allow themselves to do today is outrageous!!

The butter Croissant was good, but the milk coffee tasted like water…

I come here quite often and must say that the croissants are amazing. Can be a bit pricy compared to other bakeries. It is also a nice place for coffee and reading/working when it is not too full. Sometimes when the staff are overwhelmed the service can be a bit slow, but it hasn't stopped me from coming here so much. Pet friendly.

We came to this place on Jan 1,2024 and it was packed!! Therefore, the servers were not always attentive to your needs (and it was understandable, 2 people were serving over 20 tables, girls did as much as they could). Food was not the best either. A hollandaise on eggs Benedicts was just a mayo with egg yolks, it was served over ham on a very toasted bread which didn’t have any toppings on it. The salad on a flip side was very fresh and delicious! Overall it was ok experience for a holiday day, but it’s not worth all the money you’re paying for it…not sure if I want to come back…

Amazing place for having breakfast or brunch but the best thing you can get from there is simply a sandwich. Always freshly made which means you will have to wait 5-10 minutes to get it but it is totally worth it as it is arguably the best bakery-style sandwich you will get in Zürich.

Cappuccino with oat milk - the worst, couldn't drink it. Avocado with toast - it's like canned food. Tasteless. Bread is like a brick, our orders were not delivered how we asked. We were 4 people, we waited 50 minutes for our food. We all had the worst food, experience, and ended up paying 150 CHF. This place should either close or reopen after an overhaul.

We were there on a cold Saturday morning and the air was icy even inside. The heating couldn't keep up at all, so a lock or something similar would have to be installed so that guests who stay longer don't sit in the draft. The porridge was ok, the service was very nice.

Very expensive and not comfortable at all. A slice of bread with cheese and ham costs just under 20 CHF. And a scrambled egg costs just under 12 CHF. That's outrageously expensive.

The cappuccino was just soso, but the crumble cake was really good. It's particularly nice to sit in the outdoor area on a sunny afternoon :) Sometimes it gets really busy, as it is a popular place.

Paid CHF 8,10.- for a Flat white with oat milk. Unfortunately, the coffee ☕ tasted like one I get at the gas station.

Le Pain Quotidien offers a pleasant dining environment and tasty dishes. I was impressed by the quality of the food and the selection of bread and dishes is varied. My only criticism is that the prices are a bit higher. However, if you're willing to spend a little more, you'll get a quality meal and a relaxed atmosphere.

I ordered a tuna wrap, and i found a small stone that almost broke one of my teeth. I did not expect this, and i was really looking forward to eating my wrap. I am extremely concerned about the hygiene in this place. I will seek to this issue further, this is not ok.

Open only at 8am?? Erlich? Why not at 9? And the guy at the checkout doesn't really understand German. Otherwise the croissants are delicious, I don't have to have anything else for four times the price, you can have breakfast somewhere else in Zurich with an adequate price-performance ratio)))

Very very expensive, 3.40 CHF for a pain au chocolat and 7.90 CHF for a simple orange juice is excessive in my opinion, even if it is in Zurich. And no parking!

Absolutely overpriced and the quality is mediocre. Another Zurich wannabe store that thinks that just because it's expensive, it's good. But people pay it and as long as the store will continue to collect the money. Le Pain? Rather: the pain!

Ordering breakfast in Zurich is becoming easier and easier, but unfortunately also more and more expensive. For two people we have... Attention, 160 (!!!!) francs paid including delivery. There were croissants, pains au chocolat, salmon slices (really good quality salmon), and per person a bit of cheese, a boiled egg, two slices of cooked ham and raw ham and a piece of lemon tart. 2x tea and 2x freshly squeezed orange juice and a few slices of bread. The quality is definitely above average, but in our opinion that's not enough for this astronomical price. 160 francs for a simple brunch is truly the definition of Zurich decadence. It's our own fault if we order this, we wanted to treat ourselves to something after the street parade. But the knot in your stomach lasts longer than anything else... For comparison: At Uto Kulm you pay less for two people (at your discretion, including alcohol), but you also get significantly worse quality, but a large selection of cold and warm dishes.

I'm shocked because there are dead ants in the jam and hair in the food!!!! The hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. An absolute no go because I almost wanted to spread them on my croissant and only saw the dead animals in the jam by accident! In fact, I even had two ants in my spoon - see photo I took. The problem was probably nothing new for the service. We went for brunch and definitely the last time there. We found a hair in the bread basket after we had eaten and also on our plate. I'm speechless and the pictures speak for themselves. The food and baked goods were okay, but nothing exceptional for these prices. I don't want to know what the kitchen looks like!

A nice coffee, perfect for a filling breakfast or brunch. We celebrated a baby shower party here. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and competent. Small drawback: The space on the small tables and in between was a bit tight. I was glad I didn't have a stroller with me.

Located at the foot of the Dolderbergbahn, the restaurant invites you to linger right on the square, the restaurant is rustic with a beautiful wooden floor, the small bakery is perfect if you want to take fresh bread or a sweet snack with you!

My favorite place for a delicious oatmeal breakfast. Always nice service and atmosphere. I recommend!!!

Severely overrated and overpriced. Scrambled eggs were served cold and unfortunately reminded of hotel food instead of a nice bakery-restaurant. Eggs-Benedict-nature (no ham) was first served with ham, then without sauce and on a poor piece of bread. The price at the end did not make sense. If I visit again, i will need some convincing to order anything more than a coffee.

Nice breakfast, lot of options, but coffee is really disappointing. They have a proper machine but you could tell that there are no proper Batista's making the coffee (milk is not properly steamed, flat white tastes like a cappucino etc.)

Used to be a nuce place for brunch! Now its just chaotic, service is slow and sloppy, and the food is overpriced and the quality declined. The croissant used to be fragrant like the one of Montmartre, now they are probably freezed. The coffee is also gotten worst. I used to live the place 5-6 years ago, now it’s absolutely not worth it. Go to Montmartre instead!

Disgusting customer service. I ordered Croisstants and coffee to take away. When I made the payment and got out of the store, I realized that the cashier gave me yesterday's (and smashed) croissant, instead of fresh ones standing there. I felt very bad. I was actually frequenting this place. I will never come back.

I wanted to buy a souvenir from Le Pain Quotidien and the cafe looks very nice and well maintained. But what brings me to the 1 star rating are the utopian prices. I find it difficult to believe that there is an argument that justifies 300g of bread for CHF 6.90 (!!!). Organic or not, Fairtrade or not, this price for that little bit of bread is completely absurd! Well, I thought to myself - I'll give it a try, for this price the bread must be worth a lot. My order also came with chocolate-covered apple rings, 150g for a cool CHF 19.90 (!!!), so an additional CHF 1.40 per apple ring! If I had seen the price tag on the apple rings, I definitely wouldn't have bought them. But unfortunately (or perhaps intentionally), there was no price tag on it. These prices are outrageous! Dear le Pain Quotidien, once and never again!

Sunday coffee: 12.40fr for two hot drinks. “Homemade” hot chocolate looks like a milk broth. lukewarm and not very visually appealing. Grumpy service. We were told we could pay at the checkout, but we were then told off at the checkout that we should pay at the checkout next time! No customer friendliness! That will not do!

Same quality of baked goods/pastries as other Pain Quotidien globally … but the coffee is abismal. The service is not that great either, as the place is usually understaffed and hence they don’t follow up to check on you. We had to get up to pay our bill, because no one was even walking by our table. Also disappointing since my dog was super thirsty and we never even got the chance to ask for a water bowl. Takeaway is an option though, and you can take home freshly baked croissants & pain au chocolat which are delish 😋

We went there for brunch over the weekend. It can get pretty crowded, so it’s better to book in advance or come a bit earlier. I was a bit disappointed with classique brunch as the portion was quite small and you get a lot of bread. They didn’t bring me any jams and I only realized that I could have asked for it before leaving. I would recommend the cooked ham with gruyere or the tartine. Quite tasty

There are good days here and there are not so good days here. Overall, the food and the coffee taste good 4/5. However, I recommend not taking the breakfast menu, as these are much more expensive and unspectacular than other offers. Best of all, scrambled eggs with bacon or avocado! Moccacino also a good choice!

One of my favorite Cafes in Zurich, pet friendly and kid friendly. Great location, cozy environment and a very diverse menu, they have a lot of brunch, lunch and pastry options. There is many tables outside and inside, including a HUGE table that you can share it with other people or reserved for a big group. The staff is friendly, fast and efficient. This place is one of those where you can spend hours talking with friends and having hot chocolate, coffee and delicious food!

No greeting, got the card after 20 minutes, then said I had already looked on the website and whether I could order now. She was kind of nasty about it and told me to wait... ok. I don't like eating and paying when the service is like that. It's a real shame - it would be nice but the staff wouldn't be. She had short hair and curls... thanks for nothing

Unfortunately the service was completely overwhelmed. A good 20 minutes passed before we were able to order our two Café Crème and the previous person's dirty dishes were not put away during this time. After ordering, it took another 15 minutes until the café was finally served, so the waiting time was over 30 minutes in total. With all understanding for the overload of the staff, that was definitely too long! Afterwards we bought a piece of (unfortunately quite dry) lemon cake to take home from a rather grumpy saleswoman. However, it was very small and cost a whopping Fr. 5.90. In my opinion the prices are somewhat disproportionate to the service and quality.

I would describe it as a bakery/cafe with great brunch offerings as well as desserts and lunch options. I would be happy to go again to try it out!

For brunch: Go early! The place gets very full on the weekends around 10am and then service gets slower… Excellent place for breakfast, brunch, a snack or sandwich during the day or a whole lunch. Inside it is set up really cosy while outside you can enjoy a sunny morning. The food, once ordered, comes fast, is really good quality and tastes delicious. A LOT of vegan/vegetarian options like mezze!

Service was relatively slow, we didn’t receive any jams for the brunches until after we asked 3 times, and one of the brunches arrived 1 hour late. Pastry is delicious and well-made.

Nice coffee for breakfast. Service very friendly and attentive. Bread selection and croissants are okay by Swiss standards, but bread in Germany and croissants in France are in a different league 😊. Price performance is okay in my opinion, I only found the bowl of milk coffee to be a bit small.

Demotivated, inattentive staff, even though there were only a few customers at 5 p.m. Unfortunately, since it opened many years ago, the service has gotten worse and worse.

Disappointing. We ordered 2 classic brunches only for the brunches to be mixed up, 45min late and very expensive for what it was. By the time it got served the cheese already started to sweat out its oil and our coffees were cold. Staff were nice when we asked about the waiting time.

Best Pain au chocolat in town! Very welcoming service. Bread is also worth the visit. One small point though, the entrance to the Coffee shop is not clearly signed posted as there is no separate line for the coffee shop

The insider tip for brunch. Great selection, also directly from the in-house products (from Le Pain, which is a chain of branches with around 6 locations in Switzerland, especially GE/Lausanne). Small pastries perfect in taste and consistency. Coffee very fine. Staff friendly to very friendly. Some not very good knowledge of German. Space a bit tight in some areas.
