Locanda Gandriese in Lugano

I had the best experience at Locanda Gandriese and was so happy they were open! The meal I had was delicious! I loved everything, especially the octopus which was the best I ever had. This restaurant and the staff were so nice and charming. They were so helpful and nice to chat with during my meal and also helped direct me where the bus was back to Lugano. I’m so happy I had a memorable experience and hope to come back again one day soon! Grazie mille!!!

We had a wonderful experience here for lunch. A nice selection of local artisinal beer, Sardegna inspired dishes, and a beautiful view of Lake Lugano. We had the homemade lasagna and leek & chestnut soup which were all delicious.

Exceptional place, for the view, atmosphere, very kind service. Excellent food and wine, we had lunch on the terrace overlooking the lake and ate the three variations of polenta, one better than the other.

Luckily in the “extinct” village it is open in the off-season. Decent food, nice location with a small terrace and a view of the lake.

A stone's throw from Lugano on the Italian-Swiss border. The Gandria inn is immersed in the beautiful village of Gandria overlooking the lake, going out onto the terrace you can enjoy a unique view... on the left the imposing Mount Legnone🇮🇹 and on the right Mount San Salvatore🇨🇭 We were welcomed by a very kind young lady and the service was carried out in a professional manner! Excellent Ticino cuisine with equally excellent products from southern Italy! I was pleased to notice that desire to do well...which is called "passion". Well done!! We will definitely be back!!!

Never again, service disrespectful

I love this restaurant right on the water, and thank you so much Ricardo for making our two evenings so special! My son, Avinash, can be picky but he absolutely loved the food here and said, "this restaurant is a 5.0, not a 4.6!" Beautifully located restaurant with a great view of the lake, very fine food and very friendly and attentive service - a highlight in Gandria. Was there on 7/1/23 and 8/18/23. Gladly again soon. Was there again today 9/17/23 for lunch, great as always.

I hope they have the white ragu lamb stuffed pasta (Culurgiones) if you go, because that is honestly one of the best, most flavorful pasta dishes ive had in my life. Come for the view, stay for the food and excellent service. Grazie!

Breathtaking view! It was like being a guest in a loved one’s home. Intimate terrace with limited tables and an amazing view of the lake. Sardinian specialties with impeccable service. Be sure to try the desserts! We did not stay at the hotel, only ate at the restaurant. There were other guests staying at the hotel and they had been returning for years.

Small, but cozy restaurant. With a small terrace with spectacular views of the lake. The menu is very varied, with meat, fish and seafood as well as pasta. Everything homemade, dessert is a must! Super friendly and attentive service (Ricardo, you are the best!). I recommend it 100%

What can I say about this place?! I’ve been charmed under its spell since 2018 when I first visited this restaurant. The place is so beautiful so calm with an amazing view! Valerio was very welcoming and friendly! The food is out of this world!! Truly the best Italian food we’ve had during our entire stay in Europe. We ordered a fish that they mentioned it’s local from the lake and we also ordered the lasagna all were excellent! And for dessert we asked for the chocolate fondant as I remember it when I tried it 5 years back! We also had the pleasure to meet the chef David who was very welcoming as well! In summary, I highly highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely come back again and again!

This hotel/restaurant has its own special charm. The room we booked for 2 days was a great surprise for us. We had a room with an exit. The view directly over Lake Lugano was sensational. The bed was super comfortable. Everything was clean and with attention to detail. Unfortunately there was only one shared bathroom, which was very small. It's very noisy. But the flair and the view really make up for these points for us. The journey was a bit adventurous. We didn't find it right away and of course you can't get there by car to unload your suitcases. All the luggage had to go down countless steps and finally back up again. We received a very warm welcome. At dinner we enjoyed the delicious Ticino cuisine with a sensational view over the lake. The whole thing was rounded off with a delicious wine and an excellent dessert. The prices are ok and at the Swiss level. What I found very unfortunate was that we wanted to personally hand over the keys at 8 a.m. when we checked out the next morning, but no one was there, even though we had agreed to that. Nevertheless, full stars for the room, location, view, friendliness and cleanliness.

The best restaurant I’ve been to in Lugano. The lasagna is highly recommended. I don’t recommend the bolognese as much. The desserts were good too. We booked last minute and I cannot thank Federico enough for accommodating us and the wonderful service as well as being super patient and friendly with the kids. As for the view, it’s breathtaking and magical. Thank you!

Excellent meal, and perfect setting overlooking the lake! The tagliatelle bolognese was incredible, and a great tiramisu for dessert.

Good restaurant with Italian and typical Ticino cuisine. View brilliant. Unfortunately we were denied a table with a direct view. The food was good to very good. For two people without a starter at 75 CHF, more in the Zurich price segment.

The food is perfect, excellent service! Totally worth it👍🏻

First a long wait for a table, then a long wait for a card, then the order was first served at a table even though it only came after us. Was there for 30 minutes without placing an order. Staff were generally annoyed, flailing and unfriendly. Went back without any orders.

Although the kitchen was already closed at 3 p.m., I was served a salad and spaghetti by a very nice young lady. Therefore full marks.

Always a guarantee! Splendid place immersed in the blue of Lake Lugano. The terrace hosts few tables but this is why it is special. They serve typical Sardinian but also traditional Ticino dishes, all very good with quality ingredients. The rooms also have an exceptional view, ideal for relaxing and spending a quiet weekend in Gandria. They take care of every little detail with their heart, highly recommended!!!

By far the best restaurant in Gandria is and remains the Locanda! Absolutely recommended, the food is prepared with a lot of love, you can taste it. The rooms are clean, bright and have a beautiful view of Lake Lugano ♥️ The service is excellent and you can enjoy the food on the terrace or in the restaurant, also with a view of the lake. ♥️

Excellent little corner of Gandria with a mix of typical and Sardinian dishes. Super friendly staff. Small and intimate with also a lakeside terrace! As in general in Gandria, take into account cobblestones and stairs, but it's worth it. Honest prices, excellent myrtle!

A young Sardinian chef, Davide Crobe, after a work experience in Switzerland, decided 7 years ago to start his own business by taking over the management of Locanda Gandriese, a small panoramic restaurant where you can taste traditional Ticino dishes and alternatively Sardinian classics such as Culurgiones and fregula ! Outside, in one of the characteristic streets of the fishing village of Gandria, a display case attracts attention: a small picture of Sardinian pastoral life with cork nuraghe and puppets in traditional clothes where a bottle of Nepente di Oliena and an Argiolas dominate of the best. The restaurant is delicious. And the little terrace on a sunny spring day is lovely. The cuisine is up to the standard of the place: good and well-kept, like being at home. I tried linguine with clams and bottarga, excellent.

Small restaurant in an incredible setting.

The food was delicious and the view was awesome. We found the price for the appetizer platter (25.-) to be rather high, but we found the remaining prices to be moderate, especially considering the great view. We would come here again.

Enchanting location and delicious and particular dishes remain linked to the territory and with the influence of Sardinian cuisine! Don't miss the millefeuille of carasau, cheese and pepper and artichokes

You wait extremely long for the food. In winter the patio door is left open and so it's cold inside without the sun. We had to wait 2 hours for our salad.

I can only rate the restaurant as we were not hotel guests. Overall, a restaurant that you go to more for the view on the terrace, which is really unique. The service is friendly, the food is OK. Prices may be a little higher than other restaurants in the area, but with the view they are absolutely justified. You sit with probably one of the most beautiful views of the water in the area. Very nice welcome and good service considering the abundance of the restaurant. The wine recommendation for the meal didn't go well; no differences between the (mostly regional, which was very nice) wines could be explained. Unfortunately we cannot recommend local meat and cheese specialties, a porcini mushroom rosotto was okay.

Amazing atmosphere and the homemade lasagna is as good as it gets. The senteiro path is a good way to get here. Definitely a place to visit.

Cute little restaurant, we sat outside on the balcony with a beautiful lake view. The food is excellent, super tasty pizza and reasonable prices. We were served very, very friendly, the waitress spoke Italian, English and German. No problem even with a dog!

Very good restaurant if you have the chance to eat on the terrace 4 tables maximum you will be directly on the lake. The cuisine is good, the dishes are cooked on site, preparation time is required. The tiramisu is excellent. No surprises on the price, it is clearly displayed. The service is efficient and courteous. I recommend .

This location is good. However I won't go there just for the food which was ok. Not to mention a VERY small, EXTREMELY thin personal pizza for CHF 22.00. Beware: 1. Service charges are added regardless of the level of service provided (which was a lot less than what was rendered and expected). 2. There were some serious language barriers if English is the only language you speak. 3. Also, do confirm the timing as they are closed in the afternoons. Also, you have to be in good shape to take hundreds of steps to go down to this restaurant from the main road -- and then COME BACK UP the same number of stairs.

Driven by the excellent reviews, we stopped to eat at this beautiful restaurant in Gandria on Sunday for lunch. Even though we hadn't booked, they immediately made us sit in the cute internal room which, given the hot temperatures outside, didn't make us regret too much not having had lunch on the panoramic balcony. What about this place? The interior is small but really nice, the service from the waiter who looked after us was precise and fast and the dishes from the kitchen were wonderful. A mix of local dishes and Sardinian cuisine, the owner's homeland. Quality raw materials cooked very well and everything plated with care. We found the portions to be just right to be able to enjoy a good dessert. Medium-high prices but absolutely justified. Place to recommend!

We had lake fish with potatoes and veggies on the side. It was not very filling but it was nice and tasty. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. We ordered penne and fries for our kid. Penne was nice but didn't like that the fries were made from frozen. Excellent view of the lake. All in all a very good Gandria experience

Stopped by for an early dinner after walking the Sentiero dell'olivo from Castagnola from Gandria and back. We were promptly seated outside where we could enjoy our meal with incredible views. The food was delicious, especially the octopus salad. All the seafood was very fresh and delicious. We also ordered the cheesecake with apricot and apple jam for dessert, which was a wonderful way to end the meal. I highly recommend!

From the moment we stepped into the restaurant until we left, everything was perfect. We called to reserve a few hours prior and were told that the only available seats were inside but on our arrival they surprised us with seats on the balcony. The view was as amazing as the sevice and food! Very warm welcome and service all around. And for all the wine we drank the amount of the bill was very fair. We will be back! Already told our families about it.

We loved our lunch at Locanda Gandriese. The service was incredibly warm and friendly, and the caprese salad, spaghetti aglio olio, and spaghetti bolognese were excellent. The complimentary bread was also great, as were the views. Recommend!

Suggestive location! Excellent dinner, decent choice of wines and good, friendly service. The only flaw: the space on the terrace is really limited... maybe one less table and everyone will be more comfortable.

This restourant has one the best view I've have ever seen while sitting for dinner. Food is amazing, they do have Sardinia style food. A little pricy but worth it.

We did the funicular to Monte Bre then hiked to Gandria. This place is the perfect stop. We had a margherita pizza and fresh pasta with oil and pesto. The prices are reasonable for both food and drink. The staff was very inviting and kind. I hope one day I get back to get back to Switzerland and get to enjoy this place.

Best restaurant in Gandria; the food is great and you get to enjoy the most amazing view from the restaurant's balcony. The veal with the risotto safron is a must try!

Wonderful risotto cremoso in the sun

We landed here after a great hike from Lugano. All I can say is: small but absolutely beautiful. Very good, fast and friendly service. The food was really delicious. My perch fillet was great and very fresh. Plus the amazing view over Lake Lugano. Would love to come back.

I booked 1 week in advance. I requested a table on the balcony. We arrived a few mins late due the boat being delayed. They were happy, polite, and welcoming. We were given the best seat outside next to the railing and the view was beautiful. The service was great, the waiter was very friendly and polite. The food and drink were fantastic for the price and large portions for your money. We were very impressed and it was certainly worth the journey over on the boat. I would highly reccomend and definitely go back.

Great restaurant located in the charming town of Gandria. Fantastic views of the lake, especially from their small balcony, which only holds three tables. The food was outstanding. The pizza was a perfect example of Napoli style pizzas. The pasta dishes were also delicious. Friendly and accommodating staff.

Absolut empfehlenswert 🍕 Ich hab hier die beste Pizza seit jeher gegessen. Richtig gute Mozzarella, knuspriger Pizzaboden der richtig gut belegt war, super Sugo - grandioso!! Der Service ist aufmerksam, keine lange Wartezeit. Gerne wieder ☺️ Arivederci!

Wir gingen rein und der (wirklich sehr freundliche) meinte, wir müssten 10-15 Minuten warten und er rufe uns an, wenn der Tisch frei sei. Als nach 30 Minuten noch niemand angerufen hatte, fragten wir nach. Der Kellner meinte, er habe sich getäuscht, es gehe eher noch 40 Minuten. Das hätte er uns von Anfang sagen können, dann hätten wir nicht 30 Minuten gewartet. Sicher, das kann passieren, aber dann soll man gefälligst anrufen und sagen, dass es länger dauert. 2 Sterne nur für die Freundlichkeit...

Wir haben hier, nach vorangegangener Reservierung, sehr gut und gechillt zu Mittag gegessen. Der kleine, sonnenverwöhnte Balkon mit 5 Tischen oberhalb des kleinen Fischerboothafens bietet eine schöne Aussicht. Das Lammkarree, wie auch das Tiramisu waren ausgezeichnet. Sehr gute Weinauswahl- und beratung. Top Service. Alles rundum stimmig und sehr empfehlenswert.
